Saturday and Nothing Much Going On

I slept fairly well last night. I had drunk quite a lot of water before bedtime and woke up a couple of times to go to the bathroom because of that.   I was up at 5:00AM as usual.

I have had my breakfast and am drinking my coffee now.

I checked the  weather and fed the two blond cats and watered my flowers in preparation for another very hot day. I don't want to lose those flowers.

It's 7:55AM right now. I have recorded the Saturday morning news. I may try to watch it now. There's usually nothing but bad news anymore...one mass shooting after another. Also different variants of the virus that may be resistant to the vaccine.

More later...

I watched most of the news and then read until I finished another book. Now I will need to download three more.

I downloaded three more books to read.

Then I went out to Eggbert's to have my honey chicken salad. It will be awhile before I do that again. There were small children there who shouted at the top of their lungs. An elderly man sitting right across from them shouted "Quiet!" The waitress advised him he could not do that...so he got a "to go" box, paid his bill and left.  I doubt he will come back. The child that shouted was about three years old. They should teach him to use an "inside" voice when in a public place. I would never have allowed my children to do that. It will be awhile before I go back. I hurried through my lunch, paid my bill and came home.

I watered again this afternoon. It's up in the high 90's.

It's 3:08PM now. Later on I will go over to Nancy's and see if she's up to a visitor. She did want me to come over. So I stayed until 5:00PM and then I came home and watched some of the CBS news I had recorded. I took my bath at 6:30PM, a little earlier then usual. I will read until I get tired and then go on to bed. I have the message tomorrow at church so I need to be rested.

Friday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have had my usual oatmeal breakfast and am on my coffee now.

I got my Cox bill this morning and have scheduled it to be paid in a couple of days.

Since I didn't clean yesterday and went with Leslie to Bartlesville instead, I will clean today. Then at 11:00AM I will go over to Coffeyville for the $3.00 lunch Asbury Village provides once a month at the senior center. I really need the fellowship. All my Caney friends except Nancy have either moved away or I have outlived them. I will also deposit Shirley's $55.00 check I received yesterday in the mail to help with the expense of the class newsletter this December.  That was very nice of her to send. I sent her a thank you note yesterday.

It's 6:00AM now and I will go catch the weather and see what cats may be out there for their breakfast. So, more later....

Same two cats there for breakfast. I fed them and then brought the food back in  and covered it. If I leave it out there ants get into it.

I watered all the plants and most of the lilies are blooming now.  I need to put some more serum in the  hummingbird feeder. I filled it yesterday but they must have really hit it over the day and night.

I have mopped and vacuumed the apartment and cleaned up the vacuum sweeper. Now I will dust. Then I will be finished for another week.

I got the dusting done for another week and it's only 8:26AM. But I am tired already. I guess I will read for awhile and rest.

At 10:00AM,  I went over to Coffeyville for the senior lunch. Asbury Village cooks for the senior center the third Friday each month. It was Lasagna and beans, salad and toasted french bread and a dessert. Very good and very nice for $3.00. There were 25 or 30 people there for it.  I also later went out to Woodshed and bought gas. I stopped at the nail place, Happy Nails, and  got my pedicure. It had been a long while since I had had one. Then I came on home to Caney.

My new battery for the notebook had come with the mail. I put it in and began charging it. It should be fully charged by morning.

Later I decided to drop over to Nancy's and see if she would answer her phone. She did and I stayed and visited with her until Samantha came to see to her supper and her evening meds. Dale had called her with an update on David, her son. He is slowly recovering from his illness. He had a bacterial infection. He had been in a coma for two weeks but is waking up now. It will be awhile until he is fully recovered. I came on home at 6:30PM.

More later....

I watched the CBS evening news that I had recorded and then read until bath time at 7:30PM. I fed one cat...Blondie. None of the others came for supper. Then I read until 9:30PM and went on to bed. It was a productive day.

Thursday and A Trip to Bartlesville

I slept pretty well last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM, I have had my breakfast bar and oatmeal and am drinking my coffee now. It's 6:00AM now. After it gets light I will turn on the weather channel and feed whatever cats are out there waiting for their breakfast. I also will water all my flowers before I leave with Leslie at 10:00AM this morning for Bartlesville. She texted me last night and asked me if I wanted to go with her. Of course, I did.

I am not wildly enthusiastic about the way my hair turned out after doing it in the shower last evening but I can live with it. It needs color and cut and that will not happen until next Wednesday when my hairdresser is back from her vacation.

I will be back after I check the weather and the cats. It's getting light now.

It's 8:20AM now and I have fed the two cats and watered my plants and flowerbeds.

Now I want to check my checking account.

Leslie showed up shortly before 10:00AM and went to Bartlesville so she could get supplies for their pool.  Then we went to lunch, washed her car and vacuumed it out.

Then she brought me home and went home herself. John was looking for a part for his tractor. He tried the John Deere store in Independence and they did not have it. Leslie tried the one in Bartlesville  and they didn't have it either.  They found it at the Owasso store and drove down there to get it.

When I got home the youngest daughter of the woman whose girls mow for me, mowed this evening and did a nice job of it. I will trim tomorrow if it needs it. I trimmed last week and sometimes every two weeks is fine for trimming.

May be an image of animal and outdoors

This is the front yard she mowed and the one cat that came for supper.

I plan to take my bath at 7:00PM and go to bed around 9:00PM.

Wednesday and No Hair Appointment

I slept pretty well last night although I did wake up a couple of times. But I got right back to sleep. I have the sermon on Sunday and I had that on my mind. Sunday is also Father's Day. So a couple of weeks ago when I learned I was to speak on Father's Day, I wondered how to tie the story of David and Goliath to Father's Day.  After some cogitating and more prayer, I thought I had it figured out. While it was fresh in my mind, I wrote it down.  Now, I hope it works out. We will see.

I have had my breakfast and gone over the notes for Sunday's sermon. Now I will need  to check the weather and the cat situation.

Again, the only cats that came for breakfast were Scruff and Blondie. I fed them, watered my flowers and tried to watch the CBS news but it was all about the summit between Putin and Biden. The press is trying to second guess them. That isn't going to work. I doubt anything important will come out of the meeting. Putin has everything to gain and nothing to lose.  We will see.

It's 9:05AM now. I may do some laundry since I have nothing else going today.

My beautician is on vacation with her family. So I will wash my own hair this evening and blow it dry.

May be an image of African daisy and outdoors

How about that! More lilies blooming!

I watched the episode of Bull that I had recorded on Monday evening. I will need to watch it again next Monday night. It's a two part episode.

I guess I will try to raise Nancy again. She may be napping. More later...

She wasn't napping and she came to the door dressed. We visited awhile and then we took a long ride just to get her out of the house and have a chance to see something of the town.

I took her to the market and she bought some of that grape tasting water, some bread, some bagels and  a coffeecake mix.

Then I took her home and we visited some more. Jess, the elderly man who sometime visits with her came about 4:15PM and I stayed and visited with him a bit but came home at 4:30PM or so to dry the clothes I put in the wash this morning.

At 5:30PM I will watch the CBS news. We will see how Biden and Putin got along during their meeting today. I don't expect miracles.

More later...

I don't think Biden or any other president will be able to deal with Putin.

I took my shower at 7:00PM and stayed up until 11:00PM to read. Then I went to bed.

Tuesday and Another Boring Day

I slept well last night and once again, was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have had my breakfast and coffee and am working on my Chai Latte. I haven't checked the weather or the cat situation.

I have had a ton of information from the Lumica company I want to change my Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare supplement to. I am going to call the agent who I applied with yesterday afternoon after while and find out if I have to read that ton of information. I went to an agent to have it all explained to me so I wouldn't have to deal with reading a book of information. I thought he explained it very well and was quite concise.

He called the company and informed me I had been accepted. I called Blue Cross/Blue Shield and had them make June the last month they take the $330.21 out. The new company will start taking their $140.25 out in July.

I went online this morning to find out what my gas bill was. They had their billing all messed up and did not send a bill this month. I found what I was looking for online at their site and scheduled the payment for tomorrow.

I should go check the weather and the cat situation. So more later...

I just had the same two cats out there waiting for their breakfast. Scruff and Blondie. They have eaten now and are gone from in front of the front door. I should go bring in the food.

I brought in the cat food and watered my flowers and found something neat!

My first lily has opened!

May be an image of African daisy and outdoors

I am so pleased! There are several more that should be opening right away now!

I went to Independence to pick up my thyroid prescription and while there, I had a woman at Walmart remove the battery from my notebook so I could replace it.  Then I went to Coffeyville to pick up my blood pressure prescription. I get the blood pressure med from Medicine Shoppe in Coffeyville for $10.00 for a three month's supply and the thyroid prescription from Walgreens in Independence for a three month supply for $18.00. I simply can't beat the prices for those.

Then I came home and ordered a new battery for the HP Notebook Keith bought me three years ago at Walmart in Independence... from Amazon for $19.99. I will get it tomorrow. I should buy a new battery for the laptop that Scott gave me too but I leave it plugged in all the time. I use a USB plug to receive the signal back here in the den.

More later....

I didn't have sound on my phone and missed several calls. When it was checked, I learned that when I rebooted the phone, I accidentally pressed the sound button on the other side of the phone. What a stupid mistake. That's a first for that.

I went over to Nancy's this evening. We visited awhile and she asked me if I would like to go to dinner at Eggbert's. I took her out there and while we were still in the car, Dale, her cousin, called to say David was much better. They were getting him out of bed and on his feet. He wants to talk but still hasn't gotten to that place yet. But he is much better. Nancy is relieved about that. Gina, Dale's wife, is out there now so Dale and she should get more updates from her. I came home about 7:00PM and took my bath. I will go to bed at 9:00PM. I am pretty tired.

Monday and Nothing Planned

I slept well again last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have had my breakfast and am working on my coffee right now. I don't have anything planned for today. I may just read. I need to get some breakfast bars and some instant oatmeal. I am getting low on that. I need to start a list I guess.

I haven't really looked out yet. It's supposed to be plenty hot this week...up in the high nineties. I dread that.

I also need to see if there are any hungry cats out there.

It was the same blond cats that have been coming to eat. Scruff and Blondie. I took them out two bowls...the double dish and one of the clear plastic bowls. I will need to get cat food the next time I am in Independence or Coffeyville. They both have an Orchelon store.  That's where I buy my bulk cat food. I used to get Meow Mix at the Dollar General store but then I was feeding four cats. Now it's down to two most of the time. Every once in awhile the neighbor's blond cat comes to eat. But it's their pet and they need to be feeding it.

I will need to water all my flowers this morning, I am keeping them healthy and blooming because I water all of them every morning.

I am so glad I got the trimming done a couple of days ago. The yard will need to be mowed by no later then Thursday. I will not be able to do any of it because it's to be so hot. I will need to get Krystal's daughter to do it.

I got all the flowers watered.  They are going to need it this week. It's going to be a scorcher.

I went to the market and bought breakfast bars and  instant oatmeal and water.

I read after I turned off the news.

My Kindle needs charging again and so I plugged it in. I may try to call Nancy today. I may eat lunch first. It depends on whether I can reach Nancy. If I can't, I will eat one of my frozen meals. If I can, I may take her some of the Apple Brown Betty from yesterday evening.

So, more even later...

I did take some of the Apple Brown Betty to Nancy and then came home and had as frozen meal for lunch. I then polished off the rest of the Apple Brown Betty.

I made an appointment at 2:00PM with Charles Schenck, the agent that did the presentation at the senior center in Coffeyville a couple of weeks ago. I had the supplement to my Medicare changed from Blue Cross/Blue Shield to Lumino. Blue Cross/ Blue Shield costs me $330.21 a month and I only go to the doctor twice a year. Lumino will cost me $140.25 a month and $20.00 every time I go to the doctor...twice a year.  Then if I go to the emergency room, it's $50. and if they enter me in the hospital, they write that $50 off. It sounds like a real good deal to me. I hope they accept me.

I was charging my phone and noticed Keith had tried to call me.I called him back and we had a real good visit. We talked for twenty minutes.

More later...

I read all evening and then watched the news I had recorded before taking my bath at 7:00PM. Then I went on to bed at 9:00pm.

Sunday and Church

I slept well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have made up my bed and myself and had my oatmeal breakfast and am working on my coffee. I am dressed and ready for church. My granddaughter and her husband and children will be there.I will suggest we go over to "Just Us" for lunch after church. It's a buffet with a huge selection and only $10.00 and that includes dessert.

In a little while, I will go watch the weather and look after the cats..if there are any there.I seem to be down to two most of the time and three on a good day. Scruffie and Inky are both gone...and only Scruff and Blondie and sometimes the neighbor's yellow cat, father of the yellow cats, come for meals anymore.

More later...I want to check the weather.

The local weather  only comes on on the 8's. I just missed it. But when I opened the door Scruff and Blondie were the only two cats out there so I took the double bowl out and one extra bowl. They appear to have eaten and are gone now.  I will go out in a bit and bring in the bowls.

The weather just came on and we are due for some 91 degree weather with 95 later on Monday. It's supposed to be 98 by Friday. Wow! I won't be doing any mowing and will get my 15 year old mower to mow it this week.

More later...

There was a very small congregation at church today. I was very glad my granddaughter and her family were there, That helped a bunch!

I took them to "just Us" and paid for their lunch. Phyllis and Karan went too (but I didn't pay for their lunch :)). The kids were going to go back to their motel room and rest and then go to the Walmart Store right across the street from their motel. At about 5:00PM they are coming to visit me and see my duplex.

I am baking an apple brown betty nownd will serve it with vanilla ice cream after they come. Hopefully they will like it. Everyone I have ever served it to has loved it. Their younger child is kind of a picky eater. Some are like that. Leslie was the world's worst.:)

More later....

They came about 5:00PM and I served them the Apple Brown Betty with the vanilla ice cream. They seemed to love it. They stayed until 7:00PM. We had a nice visit.

After they left, I read awhile and then played the 60 Minutes program I had recorded.  I took my bath and will read until 9:00PM when I will go on to bed. It has been a big day.
