Saturday

I was going to mulch my flowerbeds this morning but it rained last night and it's too wet to go get the mulch. I would have to load it into the trunk of my car and the bags would be very wet so I guess that will have to wait.

I am thinking about going to Vinita for the funeral of a friend this afternoon but it seems like I am always going to funerals anymore.

My brother-in-law called this morning early and asked me to meet him for breakfast so we did that. I always enjoy having breakfast with him. I forgot to eat yesterday until evening and then was not sure what to eat. I ended up have a small carton of yogurt. That held me over until this morning. I am full now.

I thought about going to Bartlesville too. I would like to walk the mall. I need a few things from the store so I guess I'll go to Wal Mart first and see if they have their hanging baskets on sale.

Well, I didn't find any sale hanging baskets but I did go to the nursery and buy some asparagus plants and some geraniums. I got the pots in front of my house planted. I still have the back to do. I moved four Rose of Sharon to the back yard and out of my flower bed.

I'll have to wait until payday to buy any more plants. I will definately have to wait to buy hanging plants. I need at least four...hopefully five.

Friday Thank Goodness!!

I am so glad it's Friday. There wasn't a whole lot going at work this morning and what I did do I got finished early. I left about ten till the hour.

I took my old watch to the jeweler to have a battery put in it and he charged me $7.50. Next time I'll take it to Bartlesville where they charge $2.00. This watch is very old. I think I got it in the 80's. One year I had taken a watch in for cleaning that Bob had given me for our anniversry. They sent it off to be cleaned and adjusted and it was lost in the mail. I was heartsick about it and they let me choose any watch I wanted to replace it. It was a Seiko so I chose another Seiko and this one had a diamond right in it's center. I wore it for years but then I wanted one with numbers instead of dashes and bought another one....a cheaper one. It died about the same time Bob died and I have been wearing his. It has made my wrist sore though so I dug out this old one.

I have been cleaning up the yard again this afternoon. I thought I was finished yesterday but found some more leaves to bag and also cut back my decorative grasses. I need to bag that stuff too and then trim and go get some mulch and start mulching. What a mess!

I hope to get this done this afternoon so I can do my laundry in the morning. I have been working for an hour and then coming in and resting after I get all hot and sweaty. I will drink a glass of tea before resuming my job.

It's been another hour and I am finished with the "cleaning up" Now after I rest awhile, I will try to get the trimming done (if the trimmer works after setting all winter). I may have to leave the mulching until early in the morning unless I recover. I'm exhausted!!

Well, I got the trimming done. All I lack is the mulching and I believe I'm going to leave that until tomorrow morning. I'm exhausted!! It's after 4:00 and I've been at it all afternoon.

Cooler Thursday

It's a little cooler today. I will go to work and then to the ministerial alliance meeting. I have everything ready.

After the meeting I will do the minutes and get them sent out and if it is nice, I will rake the front and mow it.

I got the front finished raking this afternoon and mowed. It looks so much better! I am delighted. The grass is just beginning to turn green so it doesn't look great yet but it looks a lot neater. The front shows my creeping pflox and the back shows my bulb bed. I have iris, lilies, and jonquils planted in there. The squirrels got my tulip bulbs.

Now if I can just find cedar mulch I will get the flower beds mulched. I also need to trim.

Another Lenten Luncheon

Today is another Lenten Luncheon. I got my brother-in-law to agree to go with me again today. He needs to socialize and keep active. He goes to see my sister in the nursing home every single day. Bless him! He is so good to her. Not every man would be so faithful.

I will work this morning until 11:00 and then pick him up for the Lenten Luncheon at 11:30 at the First Baptist Church. Tomorrow is Coffeyville Ministerial Alliance. I got my minutes and the agenda duplicated yesterday after lunch. I need to call in reservations to Windsor Place this morning.

I fell asleep in the recliner yesterday after lunch and did not get to go see Phyllis so I will go today. I had a meeting at 3:30 and was ten minutes late for that.

I was kept busy today at work. That's the way I like it. Afterward, I picked up Bob A. and we attended the Lenten Luncheon. There were even more people there today. They served homemade chicken and noodles, green beans and hot rolls. That was really good. I hadn't eaten any supper last night and only four bites of oatmeal this morning (Slinky got the rest of it) so I was hungry.

It's almost 1:00 now. At about 1:15 I will go see Phyllis again. I didn't go yesterday, which is my usual day, because I fell asleep in the recliner. I will not make that mistake again.

If the wind would go away, I would rake later on this afternoon but I just had my hair done yesterday and I do not want it all mussed up by the wind.

Well, the wind did go away. I got the front raked except for the east side and got the back mowed but not trimmed. I also want to buy some cedar mulch and mulch the flowerbeds. I can tell it is spring. I am getting ambitious to work in my yard.

Tomorrow, if it is nice, I will finish the raking in the front and mow there. I have taken some photos but since nothing is blooming there isn't much to see. In the front my pflox are blooming. Tomorrow if I get finished, I will take some photos of the front and post them. The back looks so much better.

Another Busy Tuesday

Today will be another busy Tuesday. I went job hunting yesterday so I won't job hunt today. I need to get my hair done at 11:30 in Independence so I will pick up Bob A. and take him with me to have lunch at Big Cheese. First thing this morning, I need to go vote at 7:00 or so. Then I will go on to work. After we get back from lunch in Independence, I will come on back home and go see Phyllis and Gerry.

I brought Slinky into the kitchen this morning. It was 31 degrees outside and that's too cold for him. I fixed him hot oatmeal this morning and I hope that helped. I guess I will look for a new stronger cushion for him to sleep on when he has to come in the house.

I hope it warms up a bit before 7:00 because I need to go vote.

Busy Monday

This has been a really busy Monday. I worked my three hours this morning anf she kept me busy. The time flew by. Then I came home and heated up mthat lasagna for my6 lunch, had a bowl of apple pie cake and ice cream for dessert and went out job hunting. Let's face it. no one is going to hire me. They take one look at me and realize I'm 75 years old and they are afraid to hire me. I might die on them. Well, anyhow, I'm making the attempt. I need to do at leats one an afternoon to fill my sheet.

It's windy today and the wind makes me tired. It gets my allergies going.

I got another "filler" letter from my insurance company. They told me nothing about their intentions to pay. Just another "informational" letter.

It's supposed to be 30 degrees again tonight so i will need to bring Slinky into the kitchen again. Sigh...I just got the floor cleaned up, washed and waxed. He ruined both of his bed cushions by tearing them up so I will have to bring in the chaise lounge cushion from the patio. It's filthy and there's no way to clean it so....

I didn't bring him in. It got no lower than 35 so he stayed out on the patio.

Busy Sunday

Today will be busy. This morning I have church school and church. Then we will undoubtedly eat out together. After that, I will come home and do my letters and then do some cleaning. I have Living the Questions group here tonight. I also have to make a dessert. I will make my cherry pie cake. That's easy.

Yesterday evening's birthday dinner was nice. There were just the five of us and Maia, the baby. I had too much food to eat so I brought my leftovers home for lunch tomorrow.

The big surprise this morning is that my son from Germany and his girl friend came to church. He is here to see his girl friend. They came to church and then ate out with the group afterward. Then they headed back to Ft. Scott, where she is from.

It was very good to see him again. It had been since October when he left for Germany. He came in on Thursday and will be leaving again tomorrow.

I will do my letters and then make my dessert for tonight this afternoon.
