Saturday and a Good Night's Sleep

I slept well last night ....thank goodness. I took my last melatonin tablet in the middle of the night. I will need to get some more today since they usually work. When I took my thyroid tablet, I took an Aleve too. My rotater cuff is not bothering me much this morning thanks to that miracle pill. Of course, if we abuse those we would develop a hole in the stomach or worse yet, damage to kidneys or liver. I take pain killers only as the last resort. Mostly I just put up with the pain.

Missy is patiently waiting for daylight so we can go outside. Poor old kitty. We went out yesterday in the early morning but couldn't go out later. It was way too hot for my 15 year old cat.

I will try to get some cleaning done this morning  At noon I will go to lunch at the senior center with Bob's family. I want to see his eldest daughter, Diana.

I see my TV picture is still tearing this morning. I hope Keith can do something about it when he comes Thanksgiving. Thank goodness I have my Amazon Prime. They took out my renewal this week. It has gone up to $119.. Last year it was $99. But at $119. a year,  it is still a bargain. With Cox, I was paying that every month for TV not worth half that. Programming anymore is just terrible.  The "comedy" is not funny...just stupid. There is way too much violence. Our world has become too violent without having to watch it on TV. I watch TV to be entertained and for the news. If worse comes to worse, I can stream the news to my computer.

More later....

I tried to watch TV and once again the picture was tearing. I had had real good TV until after the terrible wind storm last Spring. I thought it was possible the wind had moved that antenna in the attic so since I had nothing to lose by moving the antenna, I tried for fifteen minutes to adjust it to try to get a picture. It was better but still nothing I could watch. So I gave up.

I went over to Dollar General  and bought the few grocery items I needed. Then closer to noon I went to Braum's and got the ice for the Avery family gathering at the senior center.  They were quite busy but I wanted freshly ground ice because those in their freezer were frozen solid. So I let a lady in front of me in the line. She had been cooking her lunch eal and discovered she had no grated cheese. She protested but I explained I was waiting to get freshly ground ice and she then went ahead and bought her cheese. When my ground ice finally came and I was about to pay for it, the clerk told me that lady had paid for my ice. Wasn't that nice of her!

Anyhow, I went on to the dinner. I had a nice visit with Bob's family. They were all there except David,, who lives in Rogers, Arkansas.
.
I got home after 3:30 and Missy was still sleeping on my bed. Later that evening, I had a bowl of ice cream and even later I took  y bath and laid down on the sofa to watch Amazon Prime. That had a fine picture.

Missy came in and joined me for Perry Mason and at 9:45, we went on to bed. I took a allergy pill before bed since I was out of melatonin. and forgot to get it.

Friday and a Sleepless Night

I had a terrible time sleeping last night. I got to sleep alright but woke up at 2:00AM.  My right rotater cuff pain woke me up and I couldn't turn over on my left side because of a very sore ear. Dr. Eslicker had shot it with his cold blast for a developing cancer on it. I did finally get up and take another melatonin.  That did not work. I had not eaten anything in the afternoon so hesitated taking an Aleve for the pain on an empty stomach.

I need to get some more yogurt today. I also need to do some more cleaning.  That may be difficult with a sore rotater cuff on the right side. The left ear is still sore too. I am in not too good shape today for anything. I will not attend the exercise class. Five hours sleep is not enough.

Missy is still in on the bed. It's 4:40AM  now and I have been awake since 2:00AM and am dressed but have not put my makeup on yet.  I really feel wiped out. I don't think I should try to take a nap though or I may not sleep tonight.

I'll go ahead and finish getting  myself ready for the day and eat some oatmeal for breakfast. Then I can take an Aleve for the rotater cuff. I took Missy outside for a little while but in a little while there was a dog barking in the neighborhood and she wanted back in the apartment.

So, more later...

I did get myself ready for the day but haven't taken the Aleve yet.  Missy is wanting to go outside. But it's still dark out there so she is having to wait until daylight.

The TV is tearing again this morning. That antenna isn't worth anything at all. I seldom get a clear picture except on streaming Amazon Prime.

The weather says we  are going to reach triple digits today.  That will keep me in the apartment. I do need to go over to Brahms and get milk and yogurt.  Otherwise,  I will just stay in. I need to clean but am just not up to it.

More even later....

I decided to go to Independence  to Carol Fairbank's funeral. She and Paul were great friends of Bob's, my husband.. They all three went to New York at 9/11 from the Red Cross of Montgomery County.

I told Leslie, my daughter, where I would be and she suggested we meet at Big Cheese for lunch. She bought my lunch and we had a good visit.

Afterward I came back home and went to Brahm's to get my milk and six yogurt. Then I went back later for ice cream. They had them two cartons for $6.00. And I had a small bowl of ice cream for supper.  Now if I need to, later in the night, I can take some Aleve for my rotater cuff. I read some in my book in the afternoon and I found Forensic Files on Amazon Prime and watched an episode of that. It got very hot this afternoon.  I also worked a little on my Sunday sermon.

I texted Bob Avery to see if my niece, Diana, and her husband, Tony, got in today and he said they did. They invited me to lunch at the senior center tomorrow noon. I will go because I want to visit with them too. It was good of them to invite me.

Later this evening, Missy and I watched a couple more episodes. I took my bath and put my PJs on and then at 9:00 we will go to bed. I hope I can sleep tonight.

Thursday and Another Good Night's Sleep

I slept very well last night...thanks to a melatonin tablet before I went to bed. Then I awoke in the night, went to the bathroom and took another melatonin tablet and slept the rest of the night.

I got up at 5:00 and dressed and got myself ready for the day, fed myself and Missy.

Sometime today I will go over to Caney and meet Nancy for lunch.  So far, every time I have gone to eat with her, she has insisted on buying my lunch. I intend to buy hers today.

We are forecast for rain today.  I washed my car a couple of days ago. It was filthy.

I am watching the Tulsa news on the TV this morning . For some reason, the picture is not tearing this morning...so far. It's a mystery to me.

I just heard from my younger son. He doesn't call as much as he used to. He has a wonderful wife now and a very good life. That must be a very good reason for staying with a job he does not like.

Missy is sure wanting to go outside. Unfortunately it is still dark out. She will have to wait.

More later....

Finally it got light and I took her out for awhile. Then I took her around back while I deadheaded the flowers. She stayed close by and I didn't have to chase her at all . Later, I took her out again and again she was good and stayed around me. Finally, I called Nancy and she wanted me to come over and visit and then we would go to lunch. So I brought Missy in and I took off for Caney.

Nancy and I had another good visit. She insisted on buying my lunch again. She says I dive over there and she doesn't have to leave town.

She stood up to her son and did not agree to go to either a nursing home or assisted living. She said he was disappointed that she wouldn't but when he left he had decided that she would not be doing that as long as she was in her right mind. She was happy about that.

I came home about 3:30. I have that book discussion group at 5:30 this evening and it looks like it might rain.

More later....

The discussion group turned out to be interesting. It was only five of us to discuss the book but perhaps it will grow.

When I got home, I took my bath and watched Amazon Prime with Missy until 9:00 when we both went to bed. It was a busy day.

Wednesday and a Trip Out of Town

I slept well last night. I took melatonin again and it seemed to work. It's a natural drug our bodies produces. The blue light from our TVs, computers and cell phones tends to destroy it.  It helps our sleep if we buy some to take before we go to bed. It's cheap and it usually works.

I got up shortly before 5:00. as usual. I fed myself and Missy and am having my Chai right now. When it gets light, I will try to take Missy out for  awhile. She enjoys the outside so much.

For some reason, I have a better picture on my TV this morning. It seldom tears. I don't know why because yesterday it was impossible to watch and I had to watch the news on my computer by streaming and for some reason that wasn't perfect either. It might have been weather related.

I intend to skip exercises this morning. I want to drive over to see Nancy after she has a chance to get up and around. I talked to her briefly yesterday but David, her son, was still there and they were just getting ready to take care of some business. She asked me to come over today. I also want to go down to Bartlesville and buy some new communion cups for church at that religious bookstore in the mall.

I have already sent out the reminder for our ministerial alliance meeting next week and hope to get some responses today or at least before Monday.

More later....

I called Nancy at 10:00 or so and asked her when she wanted me to come.  David was still there and she had quite a bit to take care of even after he left. She asked me to come tomorrow instead. So I will go over on Thursday instead.

I went to Eggberts at noon and had their small chicken fried chicken. Actually I thought I was getting their small  chicken friend steak but I guess she was anticipating me saying "chicken" and ordered that instead. It was good but I sure had my mouth ready for that chicken fried steak.

I did go ahead after lunch and go to Bartlesville to get the communion cups. We are on the last tube of those and will need them in the future.  Bob is going to bring the bread on Sunday and I looked and we have the grape juice in the frig out there. I took the new box of communion cups on out to the church before I came on home. So far I have six coming to the meeting on the 6th of September. But I just sent out the reminder this morning...early.

At suppertime, I couldn't think of a thing I wanted to eat so I went up to Sonic and had a small banana milk shake.  Ten I came home and watched the news on the computer. Later, I took my bath and Missy and I watched  Amazon Prime on the TV. At 9:00 we went to bed. I took a melatonin tablet before I went to bed. Missy soon followed me to bed.

Tuesday and a Hair Appointment

Today, I will get my hair done. It needs shaping up badly.

Then I really must try to get the vacuuming done again. Missy loses so much cat hair. I have to vacuum twice a week. It's 79 degrees and I really should take Missy out as soon as it gets light. She loves that so much. I don't expect I will have her long. She is so feeble and showing her age.

My TV just cuts in and out...strange...for the first six or eight months I had the antenna it worked fine. The streaming for Amazon Prime works fine and that is about all I can use the TV for. I have even been streaming the news to my computer.

My hair appointment is at 9:30. I will need to watch my time.

I am not missing the TV because there's absolutely nothing I want to watch except the news. The programming is horrible. It's either silly or violent. I don't need any violence in my life at my age.

And another thing I am not going to miss is all the negative advertising for the Oklahoma elections. Such pettiness would convince me to vote for the candidate they are castigating.  I think it's terrible!

More later...

I took Missy out for a little while and after about 30 minutes we came back in. It was pretty breezy.  She is back on my bed napping again now.

Bob came by briefly and she did not even come out to greet him...and she usually always does.

The TV tears so badly that I tried revolving the antenna in the attic to see if that would help.  It doesn't.

More later....

Toni called at 9:10 to tell me she had me down for 9:00 and not 9:30 so I quickly went on my way to get my hair done. It looks really good. She does a very good job. My appointment will be at 9:00 from now on.

I called Nancy when I got home but her son, David,  is still there so we will meet and eat lunch together tomorrow. He leaves tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what he has decided to do.

I will vacuum the apartment this morning and try to get as much as Missy's cat hair picked up as possible. Then I really should finish dusting. Maybe I will get that done today.

More even later...

I did get my apartment vacuumed...all but my bedroom where Missy was sleeping. I will get that later.  I also went out to church and ran the bulletins and left my notes on the pulpit. I also got the communion trays out. I need to get some more communion plastic cups the next time I go to Bartlesville. They have a religious bookstore with communion supplies in the mall.

After I got home I took Missy out again but it was just too hot for that poor old cat.

The first thing I need to do in the morning is send out the notice reminding the Alliance members of our meeting at noon on September 6th. And I will need a head count for lunch that day. Then I would like to go over to Caney to meet Nancy for lunch. I could go on to Bartlesville and get those communion cups.

So, if I do that, I won't attend exercise class.

In about 45 minutes, I will take my bath and put my PJs on to watch Amazon Prime. Then at 9:00 or so, I will go to bed and I imagine Missy will follow me there.

Monday and A Doctor's Appointment

I slept until after 1:00 AM and then could not get back to sleep. Finally, sometime before 2:00AM, I got up and took some more Zzzquil.  That got me back to sleep until almost 5:00AM. Then I got up and dressed and got myself ready for the day and fed Missy and myself.

I went to exercise class and left a little early because I had a doctor's appointment with Dr. Gillis. He pronounced me in great shape for someone my age.  I only take a blood pressure tablet and my thyroid tablet. My blood pressure was 136/80 and I exercise regularly, watch my weight and above all, keep moving.  I know once we stop moving and start just sitting around, we will no longer be able to move. My grandmother was 82 when she died and still walked 10 blocks north from Willow Street to 11th street and then 7 blocks more to Washita street to church. Then she walked home. She also walked to a market a half mile away and back with her little grocery cart.

I also do a lot of bending down to take care of my flowerbeds.  If it weren't for my rotater cuff,  I wouldn't have a complaint. Oh yes, and my inability to sleep through the night is a complaint too.  He suggested I use melatonin That sometimes works.

I ate some of my leftover roast from yesterday's church dinner and the potatoes and green beans for lunch. Then I had one of my ice cream bars for desert.

Missy has been in on my bed all morning....sleeping. She sleeps an awful lot lately.

More later...I read in the afternoon and later tried to take Missy out again...but it was just too hot.

At 7:00, I took my bath and watched Amazon TV until 9:00. Missy joined me for the last episode. Later after I went to bed, she came in and joined me to go to sleep.

Sunday and Church and a Basket Dinner.

I slept well last night until 1:30AM when I got up to go to the bathroom and take my med.  Then I couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and took a dose of Zzzquil.  Then I slept until 5:00AM. I got up, dressed and fed myself and Missy.

After I had my oatmeal, I put my roast in the slow cooker and added the potatoes onion and onion soup mix. . Later, I will add the green beans.  Now I need to bake my coffee cake. So I will get back to this later...

I got the coffeecake baked and iced after it cooled. This is going to be a hot day...Summer is back upon us.

At 8:45AM , I went to pick up Bob and then Phyllis. We all had something to add to the basket dinner.

Unfortunately after the Sunday School class was over.... our guest speaker didn't show up. Melissa got his phone number from Vivian, our mission center president and only got his voice mail. Then she got his mom's number from Vivian and called her. He had forgotten to put it on his calendar and was over at Pittsburg, Kansas. So Melissa decided to "wing it".  She did fine!

Afterward we had a fine basket dinner and some great fellowship.  Melissa, Carmen and I did the dishes. Phyllis helped. Everyone pitched in.

I got home shortly after 1:30PM  and got the newsletter finished and out on the mailbox to be picked up tomorrow.  Now I am exhausted. I took Missy out on the patio while I deadheaded the flowers and we both were way too hot. I didn't have much trouble getting her to come back in the apartment. It's 92 degrees out there. She is in on my cool bed now....sleeping. I was going to watch the PGA golf tournament but the TV is tearing. If I watch it, I will have to stream it to my notebook.

It's 2:35PM  now and I am very tired.

So, more later... I am going to wash my filthy car.  Hopefully, the rain is over.

It rained some more so I did not get my car washed.   I just stayed home and took Missy out some more.

She is acting so strange. She sleeps all night and all day too.

She did come in after I took my bath tonight and watched Perry Mason shows with me. We went to bed at 9:30.
