Saturday and Breakfast Out

Bob will be by in a little while to pick me up for breakfast at Eggberts. I may have an omelet this morning. I took the paper over to Marilyn's and noticed it had rained some.

I slept well again last night. I awoke about 5:00 and got up and did my thing. (Made the bed, dressed and made up my face and checked the e-mail).  Then I fed Missy both her treats and also her cat food.

I checked out my blog for yesterday and finished it up.

I don't have a plan for today. I never got the carpet swept yesterday and I will get that done. Other then that, I don't have a plan.

So..more later...

Well, I had another "just warm" breakfast. I may just stop going to breakfast. I can have breakfast at home and not be out of pocket for something that is "just barely warm".

I did get the living room carpet vacuumed this morning. The rest of the carpet has not looked too bad. I had swept on Monday.

I still don't have a plan for today. So...more later....

I asked my friend Marilyn R. if she wanted to go to Independence, Missouri with us tomorrow for a special worship service there.  She declined. She said she could not make long trips in a van because of the vibrations. I thought she might decline but wanted to ask her anyhow. We will be meeting at the church at 6:00 and leave for Independence at 6:30. It's long trip...even in a van. My daughter, Leslie, is in charge of the service. I will read the scripture lesson. Other members of our congregation also have a part in the service. It is our entire Mission Center going there for this special service for the day. We will have lunch there afterward and then the trip home.

More even later...

I lay down with Missy and I took a short nap this afternoon. It has been a cold and rainy or at least damp day. I went up to Sonic and bought a mini Sonic Blast. That's all I could think of that even sounded good.

Scott's book came this afternoon. I will get it in the mail to him on Monday.

I took a shower this evening and washed my hair. It looked terrible. Kathy did not get enough spray on it Tuesday and with this wind we have had all week it has looked terrible.

There was absolutely nothing worth watching on TV so I read awhile and then came into the den to play a game on the desktop PC. I need to go to bed fairly early this evening because I want to get up at 4:45 in the morning. I will text Bob and later Karan  to be sure she and Phyllis are ready to be picked up when Bob comes at 5:45 to get us all.  The van leaves the church at 6:30. I will set my alarm just to be sure.

I'd better go to bed now. I won't be posting tomorrow. I will be gone all day and into the late afternoon.

Friday and Red Cross

I slept very well last night and didn't get up until almost 6:00 AM. That's nearly unheard of.  I have had my breakfast and Missy has had hers.

In fact, I took her out for a little while at 7:15 but it's very windy out there so we soon came back in. Besides, she wandered over to Marilyn's. When that happens, it is time to come back in. It's very difficult to train a cat.

I will drive this morning and pick Bob up for exercise class about 8:45.  After I take him home, I will go back up town to work for a couple of hours at the Red Cross bloodmobile at the First Baptist Church helping those who give blood to a table for a treat and recovery.

Then we will go eat out since it will be well past our usual lunch time.

We may get rain today. There's a real brisk wind out there.

More later....

For some reason, this blog is not saving the information I am putting here.

Here is a photo of the group from exercise class that went to Utopia after exercise class. I'll try again.

That's Karan on the left and next to her is me and next to me is Bob. Then across the table from Bob is Howard and next to Howard is his wife, Judy.

More even later....

I helped at the Red Cross Bloodmobile and they missed their goal by three.

Then I went back to Bob's apartment to pick him up. We ate at El Pueblo and it was good although I should have ordered mine al la Carte. It was too much and I left some of it.

When I got home I lay down with Missy for awhile until Bob came. We read the paper and watched Brooks and Shield's analysis of the latest Trump news. We all knew the Republican Health Care Law could not pass. They had scalped the Affordable Care Act of anything for the low income Americans.

Anyhow, I watched some TV when Bob left and finally at 9:00, Missy and I went to bed.

Thursday and a Going Away Party

As you may have guessed, we had a huge day yesterday and I simply could not make myself post last night. We were over an hour late getting in because we made a side trip to Parsons...40 miles away  to pick up just one person. Personally I think that is wrong! All 49 of us were inconvenienced and late  because the tour guide wanted to pick up one more person.

We did have a  great time at the dinner theater though. Karan posted some photos. I posted and copied them and posted them here too. She put the originals on face book. Karan took the photo so she is not in the first picture.

Here's the one with Karan in it.

I don't know why it's red. But that's Karan in the center. Bob is barely in the photo.

Today Marilyn and I are having a going away party for Jeannie. She is moving to Tyro to be near one of her sons and we will miss her. She has been a good neighbor.  I am making my coffeecake and Marilyn is bringing all the paper plates, cups, napkins, etc. I have coffee tea and water to drink. The party is at 2:30 this afternoon. We have invited Wayne, our former landlord, and his son, Merrill, Bob, both the Russells and Marilyn and, of course, Jeannie and myself.  There will be eight. I put both leave sin my table and have a clean tablecloth on it for the occasion. We have bought cards that say how much we will miss her.  I don't know who Betty will get in Jeannie's apartment but I hope she is picky. She has made some pretty poor renter choices since she bought this fourplex and the house across the street. .

Bob and I will have chicken and fried potatoes and carrots and applesauce for lunch. I also have two cupcakes for dessert. I went out to Walmart this morning and bought almost $40.00 worth of groceries.

More later...it's time to start lunch.

O.K. I got lunch finished and it was good. I cleaned up after it too. I also iced the coffee cake.  Now I am resting. In an hour and a half, Jeannie, the Russells. Marilyn and Bob should be here. I understand from Marilyn that Wayne is not feeling well and will not be coming and she doesn't think Merrill will be coming either. So there may be just six of us after all.

Tomorrow from 10:30 till 12:30, I will work at the Red Cross bloodmobile with Karan. So Bob and I and maybe Karan will eat lunch out at El Pueblos afterward. It's been awhile since we've been there.

So more later...

We had a good time! Wayne was able to come after all. Merrill, his son, was the only one who didn't. He was visiting his grandchildren.

Later Bob came back to watch the news but was having trouble staying awake so he went home at 6:15 or so. I took my bath and put my p.js on and will try to watch TV with Missy until I can't stay awake any longer.

I guess I will go to exercise class tomorrow. I don't have to be at the Red Cross until 10:30. After I get finished at 12:30, Bob and I will go eat at El Pueblo .

Tuesday and Cake Day

Today I will take the cakes to Independence to the First Christian Church.  Then I will browse around in Goody's until time to come home and go to lunch with the LTQ women.  Bob will be on his own for lunch today.

Scott, my youngest son, called this morning and chatted with me. It had been awhile since he had called. My kids are really good at staying in touch.

More later....Karan is here with her cake.

Tomorrow we will pick up Karan about 6:50 and go to Independence where we will board a bus for  Overland Park to a dinner theater. We used to do this a few years ago but the Condon Bank sponsored these trips and they sold to another bank and they discontinued the trips. Now a woman has decided to resume doing them. The 50 passenger bus is sold out.

More later....

Sunday, as I have said, we will, as a congregation, take a trip to Independence, Missouri to our World Headquarters for a special worship service out congregation is in charge of. My daughter is presiding and some of us have a part in the service.

This is a photo of our church's Auditorium where all our World Conferences are held and in the background...the building with a spiral,  is our Temple for Peace. This is a poor photo. I have a much better one on my laptop computer. I took this one off our church's website.  The trees obscure the buildings.

This is the Auditorium I  mentioned. It covers a city block.

Here is a photo of the Temple although not a very good one. I have seen better ones. This is the back view. I will take some better ones on Sunday.

I did meet the girls for lunch. Mona was 35 minutes late and Joyce never showed up. The Dish people were there to change her TV and internet from the  Cox company to Dish.

I would rather have gone with Leslie to Bartlesville.

More later...

This is the group of us that went to lunch at Eggberts.
That's a pitiful photo of me. That's Mona on the left with the hat, me next to her, Karan in the light jacket, Marilyn on her left and Judy on the right.

I got some rest in the afternoon. Bob came to read the paper. After he left, I took my bath and Missy and I watched some TV until 9:00 or so. Then we went to bed. Tomorrow, Karan, Bob and I will go to Independence to catch the bus that will take us to the dinner theater in Overland Park. It will be a a huge day. Bob will pick us up about 6:45.

Monday and a Dental Appointment

Today I have a dental appointment at 9:00. If I hadn't checked my calendar I would have missed it.  So I won't be going to exercise class.

This is the first day of spring and there is a mystery. I am unable to access the home page of my ISP for some reason. I tried on my desktop computer and now I have tried on this laptop. Neither can access Cox...my carrier.

We will have tuna cakes and boiled potatoes for lunch. Bob will bring a salad. We will have a veggie of some sort. I haven't decided which...probably corn.

This is also the week for cake day at the First Christian church in Independence. So sometime this morning I will bake my cake. Tomorrow morning I will be taking it and three others to Independence for their dinner tomorrow evening.  Then I will stay for my hair appointment. But I will come home for a lunch at Eggberts for the women of the Living the Questions group. Mona, who teaches at the Independence Community College, will be on spring break.  So this is primarily for her. She has a hard life. Her husband has a brain tumor and she has a 16 year old son.  That's a stressful combination.  She needs all the fellowship and support she can get.

More later....

I called Cox and they found the problem. It took awhile but they got it fixed.

My dental appointment was in April so I went on to exercise class. Afterward I baked my cake and also lunch.

The plumber came out after lunch and fixed the outside faucet. Strange...the split pipe was on the inside...not the outside.  He got it fixed and tested it. He put a new faucet outside. It is plastic. I hope it holds up in the heat of summer and the cold of winter. I'd hate to have to clean up another mess like the one that split pipe caused.

I am having Jeannie's party here at my apartment. I put both leaves in my table so I can seat six there. I only have four chairs but I have four folding chairs too. So we will make do. Merrill and Wayne and Marilyn and I and Jeannie and both the Russells will be here.  That's seven. I also have wooden TV trays. Today I asked Bob too. He knew Jeannie and used to live next door to her. So that makes eight.

I want to see if I can get a pedicure this afternoon. If I can, I can wear sandals tomorrow.

More later...

I got my pedicure this afternoon so I will be able to wear my sandals. I will wear them to Independence tomorrow. I may wear them Wednesday to Overland Park to the dinner theater.

Bob is doing laundry this evening so he won't be coming over. Missy and I have been laying on the sofa watching TV. I have had my bath and have my pjs on.  I did a load of laundry this evening myself. I have it out of the dryer and folded on top of the dryer. I will put it away in the morning.  I'll go to bed in a hour or so.

Sunday and A Busy Day

This will be a busy day. I will go to church this morning and then afterward we will go to "Just Us" in Cherryvale for lunch. After that, when I get home, I will get my newsletters ready and out on the mailbox. Sometime this afternoon, I would like to get a nap. I didn't get much sleep last night...what with the water problem. I was also concerned about the possibility of mold. Hopefully everything will finally dry with Bob's fan in there.

I wonder if, when the plumber finishes the repair, he will test to see if the leak doesn't continue to pour out from under the sink again. I use that outside faucet to water my east side flowerbeds. I sure don't want to go through that mess in the kitchen again.

Last night when I was ready to go to bed, I found that my pillow, which I lay in the space between the bed and the nightstand, had been went. The water seeped under the wall and the bedroom carpet  was went where the water went under the stove and then under the wall to my bedroom carpet. I left Bob's fan on it all night and all morning.

We will have a guest minister today. She brings her husband and they go to "Just Us" too and sit with us.

I will need to make a sign for next Sunday. The congregation has rented a van and are going en mass  to Independence, Missouri, for a special worship serve at headquarters. My daughter is in charge. Some of us are assisting her. I have the scripture lesson. Karan has the offertory remarks.

So...more later....

I got the sign made and put it on the front door at church.  We have two more seats in the van.  We leave at 6:30 Sunday morning. I have sent out three letters today so perhaps we can fill those seats.

We had lunch at "Just Us" and the guest minister and her husband joined us there. There were five of us altogether.  The others went their separate ways.

I don't know if there will be 60 Minutes tonight or not. There are basketball tournaments. They don't seem to realize that not everyone is a basketball fan.

More even later...

60 Minutes was on at 7:00 and I had just had my bath and settled down with Missy on the sofa. So I turned it on and watched it.

Missy and I went to bed about 9:30. ...later then usual.
