Saturday and the Retreat

I didn't sleep that well last night. Neither did Karan. Karan had some pain in her knee that she had had replaced the last week in June.

We had a good breakfast and afterward had classes and hymn sing. It was very good. Ted T. presided and so did our Vivian D. ...both are Mission Center Presidents...co-presidents.

We had a nice lunch too.

We had a question and answer session in the afternoon.

On the way home, we ran into rain. I can see that I need some new windshield wipers.

More later....

When I took Karan home and went home, I found that Bob A. was there watching TV. He had come to  feed Missy her treats and watch the news. he stayed until 6:00 or so and after he went home I unpacked and put everything away that was in my suitcase.

I noticed that Karan had forgotten her purchases from Christopher and Banks so I took those over to her.  Then I noticed she had also forgotten her bathroom accessories so I took those over to her too.

When I got home the second time, I took my bath and watched some TV with Missy on the sofa. At 9:30, Missy and I went to bed. I took some Benadryl for my terrible allergies.

Friday and the Retreat

I slept fitfully again last night and finally got up a little after 5:00AM. I got myself ready for the day and packed for the weekend retreat before I got Missy's and my own breakfast. I made a list in hopes I wouldn't miss anything.

I will try to remember to take some photos at the retreat. I will pick up Karan at 10:00.  We will go over to Joplin first and eat at Olive Garden. We may browse around at Christopher and Banks at the mall. The registration doesn't start until 4:00.

Our coffee order from Keurig  came yesterday just as I was coming in from Caney.

First I want to go over to the bank and cash Bob's check for his coffee and that will give me some cash for the weekend. I may go on to exercise class since I am already packed.

Bob will come over tomorrow morning and tonight to feed Missy check her water and clean her litter box.

More later...

I cashed Bob's check and picked up Karan. We got to Olive Garden shortly after 11:30. We had a good lunch and then went to Christopher and Banks and took in their 40% off summer sale.

Later about 4:00 we went on to the campgrounds and got our registration paid.

The service that evening was a get together.

Afterward we have dinner and later ice cream and cookies. Then around 9:30 we went on to bed.

Thursday and Another Trip to Bartlesville

I didn't sleep much last night. I went to bed at 9:00 and awoke at 10:00 with terrible cramps in my left foot. I had to get up and take a couple of pills that go under my tongue. That stopped the pain but I was off and on with sleep the rest of the night. I finally just got up at 4:00. I had way too much on my mind to sleep. There's this appointment this morning to replace the pulley in my seat belt, the fact that I need to get my passport before next June, the appointment on Monday at KU Med Center in Kansas City to discuss the possibility of having my bladder surgery done over there.  Just way too much on my mind.

I will need to get dressed pretty soon if I am going to leave at 8:00 for Bartlesville. This evening I will need to pack some things for my overnight stay Friday evening at the priesthood retreat over at the campgrounds.  I also want to go out to Leslie and John's to take John's birthday gift to him this morning, His birthday is today. And also I need to stop at Walgreens in Independence for my thyroid meds. I'm down to my last pill.

I will fix spaghetti for lunch this morning when I get home from all that. Then there's the 80+ birthday party at the senior center at 1:00. I hope I can get all that done today.

So, there will need to more added here later.

Bob went with me to Bartlesville to the Honda agency. We got there at 8:50...ten minutes early. At 11:30, I asked the service manager how much longer it was going to be and he said it would be some time. That installing the new seat belt assembly was a big deal. They have to take the seat out and also take a panel off the wall of the vehicle. I had no idea how big a deal that was. It was cold in that waiting room and twice I got up and walked outside to warm up.

Finally at 11:45, he offered to provide us a ride to Eggberts there in Bartlesville since Bob had not had breakfast.  We got back to the agency about 12:30. It was another half hour before we got the keys. I didn't know what to expect when the service manager brought me the keys. It turns out the whole thing was free. I was delighted to have a freebee. I am going to write then a nice thank you note.

More later...

I had not been home very long when Dr. Burch's office called to say my contacts were in. I will need to run back over there to get them because  it would be Wednesday before I could pick them up. I will be leaving tomorrow morning for the weekend retreat and Monday, Leslie and I will be in Kansas City for my doctor's appointment for my consultation. Tuesday I will be in Independence for my hair appointment.

Bob came about 5:00 to watch the news and while he was here, Keith called to say he would be going to Cairo, Egypt, the last of this month for a week for his job.  We had a nice visit.

After Bob left shortly after 6:00, I took my bath and Missy and I watched PBS for awhile until 9:00, when Missy and I went on to bed. I was very tired!

Wednesday and Exercise Class

I woke up at 2:00 AM this morning and finally got back to sleep about 3:00 AM and slept until 6:00.

I got around quickly and fed Missy and myself. Then I began cleaning the apartment. I got it finished before I went to pick up Bob for exercise class. After exercise class I took Bob home and went out to Walmart to buy $41.00 worth of groceries.

When I got home, I put away the groceries and started warming up the roast beef and potatoes and carrots. We had a little bit of orange jello for a salad. I had a cooky and Bob started to eat his and started coughing so he just left it. I took the remaining roast and potatoes and carrots over to my neighbor, Marilyn R.

After that I went to Bingo at the senior center. When I got home from that, the paper came and I read it and the one in the mailbox too.

Honda had called and said my seat belt pulley had come in  and I will go back to Bartlesville on Thursday morning for my 9:00 appointment. When I get home, I intend to fix spaghetti for lunch. Bob brought over garlic toast to eat with it.

This is another photo of my Bob at Thanksgiving in 2009. He had already started having trouble with  his left arm swelling but it wasn't as bad as it later got. That's Scott next to him.

Later Bob A. came over at 5:00 and read the papers and then watch the TV news.

He left at 6:20 and I took my bath and then got dressed for bed.  I watched PBS for awhile before I went to bed.

Tuesday and Big Cheese for Lunch

I slept pretty well last night but got up at 4:30. I guess I got my sleep  out.

In about two hours I will pick up Bob to go to Independence and get my hair done. I will pick him up at 8:20 and drive to Independence to get my hair done and drop him off at his sister Betty's for his visit. When I am finished I will pick him back up and we will kill some time until Big Cheese opens at 11:00. Then we will eat and go back to Coffeyville and I will take him to his home.

I don't have a plan for the afternoon. Maybe I will do some laundry..

Honda of Bartlesville called to say my seat belt  pulley was in and gave me an appointment for Thursday morning at 9:00 AM to get it installed.  So I will make another trip to Bartlesville on Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon there is a dinner at the senior center at 1:15 for a luncheon with entertainment. I want to make that.

More later...

Instead this afternoon Missy and I took a nap.  Now I will do some laundry. So even more later...

Keith called while Bob and I were watching the news and I visited with him awhile. He has posted some photos from the past of our family and I "stole" one of them when my Bob was still alive and Lelsie graduated from college a few years back.

Dad, Leslei and Mom.jpg

That was a few years ago. We all went to her graduation services. She was the speaker that evening. We were all so proud of her.

Bob A., my brother-in-law, left to go home after the news was over.

It's 7:00 PM now and time for me to take my bath and get my PJ's on.  I will go to bed at 9:00  but that will be awhile yet.

Monday and News of the Florida Storm

I slept fitfully...worrying about Scott and  Ginger. I finally went to sleep and awoke at 6:00.  I hurriedly dressed and fed Missy and myself. As soon as I was finished I texed Scott to see how the storm went for them. They sustained damage again and it included their foyer and one room...what else I don't know. But they can't go through a hurricane every year.

Last year after Matthew hit them Scott had to threaten to put a full page ad in the Jacksonville newspaper to expose them to get the insurance company to pay their contractor after they finally got the house repaired.  I hope they don't have to go through that again. Ginger is going to look for work elsewhere and they are going to sell the house and move out of Florida.

They are leaking water into the house again too.  They were up all night stuffing pillows into house vents. If they had not stayed they would have had even worse damage.

I am leaving soon for Bartlesville to get my car seat belt looked at.  I will stay in Kansas. You can always get a tornado shelter if you are under a tornado warning.

More later.... .

It was just as I thought...the pulley. I made that trip and lost the morning for nothing. I will have to go back in a few days after they receive the pulley. They had to order it.

Grrr...

My neighbor, Marilyn just came by to see how Scott and Ginger made out with the hurricane. She has a son in Tampa and he is fine. It skirted Tampa.  I told her what Scott had told me this morning in his text.

I will lay down in awhile and take a nap with Missy.

I got my nap and when I woke up I received this belated Grandparents Day card from my great granddaughter, Sage, who will be 14 on the 16th. She lives in Olympia.

She is very sweet and cute. She came back this summer to spend a month with her grandmother, my daughter, Leslie, and her grandfather, John, Leslie's husband.

She also sent this.  It looks like Swans. There was no explanation on this one. But they are pretty!

It's almost time for Bob to come watch the news. I'd better go in the living room.

I heard more from Scott this afternoon. They are planning to move to Tennessee to be near Ginger's daughter who is going to have a baby, Ginger's first grandchild. I understand that although I was hoping they would move to Kansas.

More later...

Bob stayed until a little after 6:00 and I took my bath and got ready for bed. I watched PBS until 9:00 when Missy and I went to bed.

Sunday and Church

I slept fairly well last night but got up at 4:30. I got myself ready for the day fed Missy and ate my breakfast.

I read the paper and baked my coffeecake for the Church School class.  I have it cooled and iced now.

Scott called about 7:15 and told me about their early experience with Hurricane Irma. It's only in southwest Florida right now and they live in the northeast part of Florida so they won't really feel it's full impact until tomorrow or Tuesday sometime. He was going into town to have breakfast and asked a police officer if he was going to get back to his home after breakfast. The officer said "sure". We will see.

They bought a generator  but I guess you have to have gasoline to run it. I hope they don't lose electricity.

More later...

I followed the storm all afternoon. My younger son and his wife live there.

Bob came over at 5:00 to watch the news and stayed for 60 Minutes. After he left I took my bath and stayed up until 9:00 watching the progress of the storm.

I will go to Bartlesville tomorrow morning to get my driver side seat belt looked at.  It won't recoil anymore. They will take a look at it in the Bartlesville Honda agency and see if it can be fixed.

Missy and I went to bed at 9:00.
