Friday and A Long Trip

I slept very well last night considering I was excited about going to World Conference today. I was up shortly before 5:00AM, made my bed and got myself ready for a big week. I finished packing my small carry on and fixed myself some breakfast. I had taken my large suitcase out to Leslie and John's yesterday morning . Luckily, I make a list of everything I have to have with me and check it off as I pack. This will be the second conference I have stayed with Leslie in their camper. But this is a newer camper. They have only had it a few months.Always before I had stayed with Reg and Joanne Stoner. Reg died last year and Joanne moved to Independence, Kansas to be near her eldest son and his family. I have met with her once after she moved to our Independence and we had lunch at Big Cheese there in Independence.

I will go check out the cat situation and" the weather on the 8's" now. It's 5:34AM and I also want to finish reading the book I started yesterday evening. I had read it years ago and they even made a movie out of it which I went to see at the tine. It was "The Bridges of Madison County" and it was very popular.

I will go see to the cats and the weather now.

What do you know! Both cats were there for breakfast this morning so I fed them and will read while they eat. It's the last meal they will get from me for a week so they had better eat up plenty.

More Later..I will read and hopefully finish my book before I leave, Otherwise, I will take it with me.

I got the book finished. I seldom re-read a book but that one is really special to me for some strange reason. I also enjoyed the movie as I seldom do for long. I even considered downloading it on Amazon Prime. Maybe I will do that someday.

There will be no blog from me for a week and a day. Have a nice break from Margie's Musings...

Thursday and Packing for Conference

I slept well last night and was up at 5:00AM to finish packing. I will take my large bag out to Leslie's later today and save the small bag for all the things I will need before tomorrow....makeup, contacts, glasses, meds, and much more like my phone and charger. I have put the large bag in the car already. I will leave when it is not raining. I have checked for the cats twice but they have not come..not for a couple of days.

I did get the weather forecast for this area. Of course we will be leaving tomorrow for Independence, Missouri and I have no idea what the weather will be like further up north...not at this point for sure.

Today is supposed to be 73 degrees and AM thunderstorms and wind, Friday, when we actually leave for our trip, will be 71 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 60 degrees and mostly cloudy, Sunday is to be 61 degrees Mostly Cloudy, Monday is to be 63 degrees and PM showers, Tuesday is to be 56 degrees and Rain, and Wednesday is to be 58 degrees and showers. But of course, that's here..not in Independence, Missouri. Four days of much needed rain. Hopefully that will help the river fill some.

So more later...when I know more. It's 3:34PM and still no rain!

I went out to Leslie's and took my large bag with the clothes and the hangers and hung up my hanging clothes. And put my folding clothes in the drawer of the dresser. Then we went  to Walmart and she bought some groceries for us to fix some of our meals with while we are gone. We will also eat out some.

Then I came back home to a call from Tom Muller at O.K. Electric. He's the man who thinks he can fix my leaf vacuum. He said if I would leave it at Ace Hardware he would pick it up there and try to get parts for it to get it repaired. Then he would take it back to Ace Hardware when he was through with it and I could pick it up there and send him a check.... for the repair..I hope he can fix it.

So I took the leaf vacuum over to Ace Hardware and told them about my conversation with Tom Muller.  The manager there was good with that.

Then I stopped at Brahms and had a junior lunch.  And then I came back home.

More Later.... I spent some time on the phone with Cox business office and tried to explain to him how confusing it was to have a different amount on each bill each month when nothing had changed. I hadn't changed anything about my service and hadn't added anything or deleted  anything yet my bill was never the same each month.  I believe it was that I was sending them a check and then the bank was also paying the bill. So I cancelled the bank's payment. And I will pay it by check each month instead. I have some control over that.

So More Later...

I have watching Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers in a TV series, "The Power of Myth". It was a classic. I watched the entire series when my Bob was going to Tulsa every week to take his classes on training to be a chaplain right after he retired from Phillips' Petroleum Co. It was fascinating!

It's 5:05PM and it never did rain today.

I will watch the evening news and at 7:00PM, take my bath and then l plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.

Wednesday and A Hair Day and Bunco

I did not sleep well last night and was up at 4:00AM concerned about the exterminator's finding about the bugs above my front door. The exterminator came and looked it over and said it was termites. I asked him if he was going spray for them and he said it's not that simple. He said he will have to drill holes in the concrete in front of my front door and put the poison in there and also dig a trench at the foundation around the house to treat that too.

I am concerned about any health issues all that chemical might have on me. I could not sleep because of concern about that. At this point in my life, I have very few health issues and that is the way I want to keep it. I just could not sleep. I got up at 4:00AM and packed most of my stuff for tomorrow's trip out to John and Leslie's to put my bags in her car for our trip to the World Conference on Friday. John will not be staying at the World Conference. He will take the camper up there with us and set it up and then he will be coming back home to take care of his animals while we are gone.

I have checked a couple of times for the cats and so far they are not here looking for their breakfast. I will check again in a little while. I did catch "the weather on the 8's". The news is not too good for our trip.  Of all times to get rain, this is not the best time. And we are forecast for rain three days next week.

Today is to be 78 degrees and Partly cloudy and windy, Thursday is to be  75 degrees  and AM thunderstorms,  Friday is to be 70 degrees and AM clouds and PM sun, Saturday is to be 59 degrees and Partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 63 degrees and Partly cloudy, Monday is to be 61 degrees and showers, and Tuesday is to be 64 degrees and showers. So rain Thursday, Monday and Tuesday..at least here. We will be in Independence, Missouri. I don't know about their forecast.

More Later...

It's almost 8:00AM and my hair appointment is at 8:30AM. I had better start for Coffeyville.

I got my hair done and stopped at the bank for some money to take with me to Conference.

I made a fast trip to Independence to see the Starkey dealer there to see if she could show me how to put those tubes in my hearing aids. Unfortunately, they are only in Independence  on Mondays and Tuesdays. They have several other stores they serve in several other southeast Kansas communities.

So I turned right around and went back to Coffeyville and the senior center. At 1:00PM until 3:00PM, we played Bunco. There were nine of us there. I should be back home by 3:30PM after Bunco this afternoon.

I stopped at Ace Hardware to see if they had someone that would work on my Toto Leaf Vacuum. I tried to use it earlier this month and the start button no longer works. So if he can't fix it, I am in a quandary. They gave me a name there in Coffeyville and I called him. He is Tom Mullen. He needed the serial number and the model number. When I got home I called the business back and give them the information. I will check with him when I get back from Conference. Always something!

So More Later... I want to go watch the news.

Tuesday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept well last night and was up a little later then usual...more like 6:00AM. I have changed my bed and the sheets and laundry are in the washer now. They may be ready to go into the dryer. I will check now.

Sure enough...they were ready for the dryer. I put them in and added a couple of dryer sheets to take out the wrinkles.

I took out my trash even though trash pickup day is Tuesday and I won't be here Tuesday to move the dumpster back away from the curb.  Maybe I should wait until I get back from Conference to have it picked up. It's not going to be overflowing. The wind might blow that dumpster down the block or into the street. That's what I'll do.

I didn't see the cats this morning. They may have been here earlier before I got into the living room. I just finished my breakfast and it's late for me... 7:35AM. I did catch the weather forecast. Today is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Wednesday is to be 78 degrees and cloudy and windy, Thursday is to be 72 degrees and AM thunderstorms, Friday is to be 63 degrees and AM clouds and PM Sun, Saturday is to be 58 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 60 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 63 degrees and showers...so a couple of days of much needed rain..Thursday and Monday.

More Later....

I took my walk this morning and went the entire 12 blocks this time. There was little to no wind. I took a trash bag with me and, sure enough, it was full by the time I got back home. I saw the trash truck while I was out there so when I got home I set the trash container out by the curb for it to be emptied today. I won't have much trash this next week since we are leaving for Independence, Missouri on Friday.

I have folded the laundry that was dry and put it away. My pajamas were wound up in the sheets so I put them back in the dryer to finish drying. They are flannel so it may take awhile.

I will have to mow again when I get home next week.  My neighbor to the south mowed his this week and it made mine look so much better. He must have noticed I had mowed my part. The neighbor to the north has not mowed and his yard is full of toys and stuff. He has a teen-aged son that should be able to mow for him.

I mopped all the bare floors and will now begin my vacuuming.

I got all the vacuuming finished but the dining room. After I move those chairs into the kitchen and living room, I always have to rest a bit before I finish vacuuming there and move the chairs back under the dining room table. I can sure tell my age.

I got the vacuuming finished and the chairs back under the table again. I cleaned up the vacuum too and cleaned the filter. The vacuum is charging now. It usually takes two hours for a full charge. This is the cordless vacuum Leslie gave me for Christmas. It's much lighter then the one Stephen bought me for the apartment when we got the new carpet. I leave them both in the coat closet between cleanings.  It's 10:31AM now and I have the laundry finished and put away and the apartment cleaned, I will dust later after I rest awhile again.

So, More Later...

Leslie called me this morning to tell me Maia has a track meet this afternoon at 2:30PM or 3:00PM and she would like me to attend. It's the only one in Caney this year. The last one was held in Fredonia so they didn't tell me about that one..That's a ways.  I will attend this one. Jeromy, my grandson, and her father, is planning to come mow my yard after he gets off work at 4:30PM.  I will leave the door unlocked while I am gone so he can get into the garage where the mower is kept. I have gas in my gas can and a paper funnel on top of the gas can so he can add more if he needs it. I will surely be back home by that time.

More Even Later...

I went out to see Maia do the shot putt at the high school and waited quite a while for them to get around to it. It was 4:40 when I finally got back to my place.  Jeromy came at 4:45PM and began mowing for me.  That's a blessing because I changed my bed and did laundry and cleaned the apartment today and even dusted the same day. I sometimes wait another day to dust. But I knew I would be gone tomorrow to get my hair done and play Bunco too and would also need to pack after I got back from the senior center.

I am very tired. There was a lot of wind at the school and it kind of wore me out. I got the mower out and put gas in it. Jeromy said it did not need oil. He checked.

He is mowing now. In a little while I will take him out some water. The wind is still furious. He came at 4:45PM and finished all of it and emptied the bag at 5:15PM. Amazing! Youth is amazing! I was just getting ready to take him out some water and he was finished!

It's 5:39PM now and I am going to go read on my book from the library, I will take my bath at 7:00PM and read until 9:00PM when I will go to bed.

Monday and a Trip to Bartlesville to See Nancy

I slept pretty well last night and only woke up once to take my two meds and then went right back to bed and to sleep.

I was up this morning at my usual 5:00AM.  I made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day.

I will check my e-mail and the bank in a minute and then go watch for the cats and "the weather on the 8's". It's 5:56AM now and I just caught the weather forecast.

Today is to be 79 degrees and sunny, Tomorrow is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy and windy,   Wednesday is to be 77 degrees and cloudy and windy, Thursday is to be 71 degrees and thunderstorms, Friday is to be 77 degrees and showers, Saturday is to be 54 degrees and partly cloudy, and Sunday is to be 61 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the week..a couple of days of much needed rain on Thursday and Friday. I could live without the wind!

Now I will check the bank and the cats.

I did check out the bank and could not find a small mistake. Then I checked on the cats but they were not out there. I must have missed them when they came or perhaps they did not come this morning. I will leave about 9:15AM to go to Bartlesville to see Nancy. It's only 8:21AM right now. I will hope to see Sally for lunch too. Nancy always enjoys that too. I am taking both of them some coffeecake today.

More Even Later...

I went down to see Nancy and she was sick with a urinary tract infection. They are taking her to the doctor this afternoon to get an antibiotic. I wish I had known and I wouldn't have gone. She said she should have called me but I guess she didn't think of it. I started to stay down there and see Sally but later changed my mind and just came on back home.

I called Dale, her cousin, and he and Gina, his wife, had just returned from a weekend trip somewhere. He didn't know about Nancy being sick.  In fact, the woman in the front office didn't know she was sick either. She stays in bed so much they probably just thought she was sleeping as usual.  She sleeps a lot. Usually when I get there about 10:30AM  she isn't out of bed or even dressed and I have to encourage her to get dressed so we can go meet Sally for lunch. Then she's always ready to go! But she doesn't keep track of the days of the week. Part of that is her dementia. She has days when that is apparent. Other days she seems perfectly normal and lucid.

I waited awhile for Sally and then just decided to come on back home and eat some of that broccoli/cheese soup I made last week and save the money.

I will take $100 cash with me for the conference next week for my food that I eat. I may take my oatmeal with me for my breakfast.  I generally only eat Breakfast and lunch and nothing for supper. I sleep better with nothing in my stomach when I sleep.

Marilyn texted me this morning to say Wednesday was Bunco. I will go. It only 1:00PM to 3:00PM and I will pack when I get home from that. I am to go out to Leslie's Thursday morning and she will put my suitcases in her car for Friday. Karan will be coming Friday morning and Leslie will put her suitcases in the car too. But Karan is going to stay with her daughter who lives there in Independence. I will be staying in the camper with Leslie.

I am glad because Karan snores when she sleeps. When we went to Leslie's ordination, Karan and I stayed in the lodge together and I got very little sleep. I didn't tell her that though because it would have embarrassed her.

I plan to change my bed tomorrow and it will be clean when I get back from Conference.

More Later..I will go check the mail on the TV "weather on the 8's" . I got the bill from my prescription drug plan..$8.00..and paid it by check. I also went to the library and got two books to read. Then I went to the Caney Drug Store to pick up my two prescriptions.

I had some of my broccoli cheese soup for lunch. I went to the market and bought a treat for Wednesday's Bunco game at Coffeyville's senior center. I will get my hair done Wednesday morning at 8:30AM or 9:00AM. And then go to Bunco at 1:00PM until 3:30PM and when I get home from Bunco, I will do my packing for the week of World Church Conference in Independence, Missouri. We will leave on Friday and be gone a week.

After lunch, I started one of the new library books and have been reading until 6:00PM. It's 6:39PM  now and I will soon take my bath and then read some more until my bedtime..

I never did see the cats today. I hope they found something to eat.

Sunday and Breakfast at Church

I slept pretty well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM, I had been up once in the night and took my two meds and went back to sleep. I later made my bed and got dressed and got myself ready for the day.

We are having breakfast at church today so I have my coffeecake in the oven now. It needs to bake and cool so I can put the glaze on it.

I just checked for the cats and they are not out there yet. Maybe they will be later this morning. Who knows?

The weather is not on yet either. It comes on as "the weather on the 8's". I won't be having breakfast here since we are having it at church. I will eat there.

I just checked on the cats again and they are not out there yet. I also watched for the weather forecast but it didn't come on at 6:28AM so it will be later this morning. I guess. Maybe at 6:48AM. I will check again closer to that time..

Well, Blondie finally showed up and I took his food out to him. He ate and left and Scruff never showed up. I will leave the cat food out there for awhile. She may come yet.

And I did catch "the weather on the 8's". Today is to be 67 degrees and sunny and windy, tomorrow is to be 81 degrees and sunny, and Tuesday is to be 81 degrees and partly cloudy and windy, Wednesday is to be 81 degrees and mostly cloudy and windy, and Thursday is to be 75 degrees and AM Thunderstorms, and Friday is to be 66 degrees and partly cloudy, and Saturday is to be 61 degrees and partly cloudy. That looks like yesterday's week's forecast too. One day of rain and that's Thursday.

More Later....

It's good thing I didn't take the cat food in the garage after Blondie ate because after awhile Scruff did come and eat. She looked around for Blondie but he had already eaten and left.

I got my coffeecake baked and glazed and it is cool and covered. It's only 8:00AM and I don't have to leave for church until 10:00AM because our breakfast is at10:30AM and the worship service is at 11:00AM. Karan has the message today. She always does a  good job.

We leave for World Church Conference on the 21st and won't be home until the 28th, So there will be no local service on the 23rd. But on the 30th we will have a special service about the World Conference. We will share our experiences. Many of us will be in Independence, Missouri, for that World Conference. Then July 8th though the 14th is our church's week long family camp (we call it "reunion" because that's what it really is) so once again the local services will be cancelled on July 9th. We get to see people we only see once a year at that family camp.

I walked up to the post office to mail a payment. Then I cut my walk short because there was a brisk cold wind.  So I walked three blocks shorter then usual. 9 Blocks instead of 12. Brrr.

I think I will go on over to Coffeyville and buy gas. It's either now or Wednesday and by Wednesday I may really need it. I had made that trip to Chanute on that tank of gas on Thursday.

More Even Later...

I did go to Coffeyville early because I did go to the Woodshed and filled up my tank with gas and also washed my car windows. I also stopped at the bank and took out my $50.00..  the week's expense money. This is the week for my color and cut. That's $35.00. Toni does that every three weeks.

Then I went on back out to church. I took my coffeecake in and the others were already there and all their treats were out on the cabinet top. I added mine and fixed myself a cup of that special Chai Leslie gets from Kerig. There wasn't much of my coffeecake taken.. there were so many different kinds of donuts brought. I will take some of my coffeecake to Nancy tomorrow and if we meet Sally at lunchtime, I will give some to her too. It won't go to waste.

Phyllis and I went to Eggbert's for our lunch after church. There was a mix up about our Debit cards and the tickets and the man that served us had a time getting it straight. He finally called in the manager and she got it straightened out. Thank goodness!

We also saw Rick and Carmen there with Mark Wilson, the pastor there at the Church of God. They have been going to church there at his church the past few months. He is a fine young man and I think they will be happy there. Carmen was upset with us and that is why they left us.

I watched the service this evening for our Mission Center. It is broadcast on Sunday evenings on Zoom.  It is 8:36PM now and I will read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

I am supposed to pack for Conference on Wednesday afternoon and go out to Leslie's with my bags on Thursday morning before noon and she will get them packed in her vehicle so we can leave on Friday. Karan will be bringing her suitcases too on Friday morning. After she is packed, we will leave for Conference.

This will be my last World Conference. Before the next one in three years, I will be almost 90 years old. I will probably be too fragile by then to manage it. One never knows.

Tomorrow I will go for my weekly visit with Nancy in Bartlesville.
