Saturday and Breakfast Out

I did something stupid this morning.  I ate a bowl of cereal, forgetting that we always eat breakfast out on Saturday. So I had a short stack out at Eggberts and am really full now.

Bob and I dropped by the old house that Cyndi sold to pick up the white cast iron sink she had them save for me. They had finally got the kitchen redone. They were still in bed at 8:00 when we dropped by to pick it up. When I got home, I texted Cyndi and she texted the owner of the house and they set it outside the gate for us to pick up. I picked Bob up again and we went back to town to load it into my car trunk. That thing was HEAVY!  We will have to leave it in the trunk for the plumber to bring in. It will take two of them to do it.

When I got home this time, I took Missy back out for a little while but she was not content out there and wanted to come back in. Then I went out back and pulled up all the petunias from the flowerbed my son-in-law had built for me. They were very leggy and looked ugly. I saw Maureen out on her patio and walked up for a visit. I stayed an hour. Now I am trying to catch up on everything. I need to get that plastic bag out of the trash container and get it into the trash that the trash people will pick up on Tuesday. That may be a job in itself.

More later...

I just finished reading a biography about Alexander Hamilton and I find that politics were just as toxic in his day. Jefferson was one of the worst. Hamilton was just as bad...he constantly wrote letters for the newspapers castigating anyone with different viewpoints from his. However, Hamilton was very instrumental in establishing the Republic....our Democracy.

Bob came over at 5:00 to watch the news. He left at 6:00 since there was absolutely nothing on TV that either of us was interested in watching. I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner and watched the weather channel until 8:30 when I just went on to bed.

Friday and Exercises Again

I slept well last night...for a change.  I did get up before 4:45 but have myself ready for the day now. Missy is patiently waiting for her breakfast and I will also fix my own in a few minutes. She will be begging me to go outside soon enough. I never take her out in the dark. So it doesn't get light until 6:30 anymore and we have to wait until then.

Bob and I have decided to eat out today. I get very tired of trying to figure out what to have for dinner. Every once in awhile we just have to eat out. It's been awhile since we've eaten at El Pueblito so we may go there this noon.

I will go on to exercises today and just try to be careful of my right arm. The rotator cuff gets very sore if I'm not careful.

I don't know whether we got rain last night or not. It was forecast.  More later...

Well, we had our breakfasts and eventually went outside at 6:30. We hadn't been out ten minutes and Missy began growling and hissing. I looked but didn't see a thing. Finally, though, I saw that little cat that looks a lot like her scurrying along across the street. She must have smelled him because I couldn't see him until he moved out in sight, He soon disappeared though Missy was too uncertain to be out any longer. She is lying here behind me on the daybed...her outside time cut short because of that little Tom cat.  Oh well...there will be other days.  She has to feel safe.

More even later...

I went down to visit Wayne, my former landlord, when we returned from exercise class. He is 96 and really needs the company. We had a nice visit. Marilyn came in while I was there and we had even more of a visit.   I got home just in time for Bob to pick me up for lunch.

The swimming pool pavers going in now.

Isn't that neat? I'm going to gross everyone out by taking my swimming suit!

Here's another view!

Really neat pool and pavers around it. maybe it will be finished by the time I go down there.

Bob and I went to eat lunch and then I came home to read. He came to do a small load of laundry. The washers at his apartment building won't do "small" loads so he does those here.

He will be back shortly to watch the news. I just returned from Walmart where I bought a few things I needed. I forgot the ink cartridges. Darn!

Well, more later....

Thursday and Housecleaning Day

This is the day I usually clean the apartment. There's nothing else going on Thursday.

I slept poorly. My thumb and my arm both hurt most of the night. I don't know what I will do about them. I took two Aleve and that should have handled the pain but it didn't.

I will try to get my housework done today....pain or no pain.

Yesterday evening, I cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeders. They immediately swamped them and drank deeply.

I just read the County Chronicle. Two of the City Commissioners had a huge shouting match Tuesday evening. They should be ashamed of themselves. One was the newly elected mayor and the other was Jim Taylor, Jr., son of Jim Taylor Sr. Jim Taylor Jr. is much like his father....immature and a showman. Jim Taylor Sr. had his stint on the commission and when he couldn't get his way on every question, he resigned. They all act like immature school boys instead of dignified city commissioners.  I was appalled as I read about their behavior.

More later, I guess..

Missy and I have been out on the carport for an house and a half now. It's nearly 8:00 now. I am about to go back in and begin my cleaning. She has been out long enough. Spoiled rotten cat!   I have had to go get her twice when she has sneaked away while I was on the laptop computer. She is sneaky all right!

I finally got away and went back in the house with her. I wanted to clean the apartment and she had and hour and a half outside.  I fixed lunch and we ate. It was good. It was a warm up of the casserole that Karan made for Monday. We will eat out tomorrow.

I read all afternoon and went to Sonic and got a Mini Sonic Blast. Ice cream sounded good.  It was 92 degrees. Then I had a cookie too.

Bob came by at 5:00 to watch the news. He had a party at Sycamore Landing at 6:30 so he left at 6:00 this evening.

I will take my bath now and be ready to sit in the recliner with Missy and watch TV this evening. It may rain this evening. It was sprinkling when Bob left.

Wednesday and Exercises and Game Day

This will be a big day.

I slept well last night and got up at 4:45...close enough to 5:00.

I will get breakfast for Missy and myself and then get my casserole dish ready this morning before exercise class and ready to go into the oven at 10:30. Karan will be over for dinner. I invited Marilyn too but she and Beverly from exercise class are in charge of game day at 1:00 and she was afraid she would run too late. Marilyn is a lot better after being sick for several days. She said she was 99% back to herself and was no longer queezy.

I am still sore in the shoulder and will have to be careful at the exercise class not to make it worse.

Missy will have to wait to go outside. That will not make her a happy kitty. I am dressed and ready for the day.

More later....

I have fixed both our breakfasts and we have both eaten.I also fixed the ham and potato casserole and it's all ready to go into the oven at 10:15. It will bake for an hour and then I will uncover it and bake it another 15 minutes. That will give me the opportunity to fix the veggie. I already have the strawberries fixed. I did that last evening.  Bob is bringing coleslaw. We will eat at 11:30 as usual and Karan and I will go to game day at 1:00.

It will be another busy day alright.

I heard from my eldest son, Keith this morning. He and Esther will not be coming to Florida and John and Leslie and I are down there.  Esther has a relative coming in a five hour drive away and they will go in the opposite direction to pick him up. I hate it that I won't see them too but they did both come for my 80th birthday surprise celebration last December.  And Keith is very good at staying in touch with me. That's just one of the problems with my boys being so far away.

More later....

Exercises went well and I got home in time to heat up the oven and  put the casserole in it. It was finished just in time to pout the veggies in and pour the tea. We had a good lunch. Afterward, Karan and I went back to the senior center for game day.  It was great fun and we had lots of good snacks.

I finished my book this afternoon after I got home from game day. The Reporter should be here anytime.

The paper came and soon after, Bob came too. he ate some more of Karan's watermelon. I was full after the treats at game day. After Bob left at 7:00, I took my bath and went to bed at 9:00.

Tuesday and Cake Day

In a couple of hours, I will leave to pick up Bob and his cake and go to Independence to deliver them. Karan will undoubtedly have hers over here by then too. I have mine and will stop at the church to retrieve Sue's.  She left hers in the freezer at church on Sunday. Phyllis does not have  a cake this week. She is suffering from a terribly sore foot. They think it is arthritis. She is to stay off it.

I slept well last night despite the ache in my right shoulder. I did not take any more Aleve.  I hate to take medicine even that medicine I need to take...like my blood pressure meds and my thyroid med. Blood pressure medicine is hard on the kidneys and liver.

Missy and I have both had our breakfasts and she is after me to take her outside. I am waiting for daylight. It should be light in about ten minutes. I don't like to take her out in the dark. There are too many stray cats in this neighborhood and she is too old to fight anymore.

After I get to Independence, I will drop the cakes off at the church and drop Bob off at Betty's for his visit. Then I will get my hair done and after that I will go to Juanita's and balance her checkbook. Finally I will  pick up Bob and we will go to Big Cheese for lunch. At that point, we may run into some rain.

More later....

My hair appointment was at 8:30 instead of my usual 9:00 and I was late but Cathy still worked me in. I was lucky. After that I went to Juanita's and balanced her checkbook and reconciled her bank statement. Then I picked up Bob for lunch at Big Cheese.  I took him home after that and came home and went to the market. I got some more ham for our ham and potato casserole tomorrow.  I also bought some strawberries and shortcake. While at Walmart, I bought some more cake mixes too.

I came home and got the ham sliced for tomorrow's casserole and prepared the strawberries for dessert. I called Karan and invited her for lunch too.

I read the rest of the afternoon. Bob came over shortly after 5:00 and we watched the news.  After that and one episode of re-runs of "Big Bang Theory", he went home and I finished working my crossword puzzle.

I'll take the newspaper over to Marilyn's and then take my bath and get myself ready for bed. I won't actually go to bed until 9:00 though....or I would be up way too early tomorrow.

Monday and Exercises

I don't know whether I will go to exercise class this morning or not. My right rotater cuff hurt most of the night even though I took two Aleve at bedtime.  I don't know what more I can do. I believe it was the exercises that caused it this time.

I got up about 4:45 and got ready for the day.  I slept pretty well even though I awoke from time to time with the pain. Another thing that disturbed my sleep was trying to find room to sleep. I left the pillows piled on the west side of the bed and then Missy decided to sleep just east of them. That left very little room for me.

Karan is having the three of us over for lunch today. Her neighbor, Irene, was coming home from the hospital today after having a couple of stints put in her heart. She asked Karan to cook for her for a couple of weeks. Karan bought some groceries and arranged to do that and then the niece called to tell her that Irene was not able to keep any food down and so would not be coming home after all.  So Karan had cooked some food and needed someone to feed it to. She invited Marilyn R., Bob and me to come for lunch. I will have my ham and potato casserole on Wednesday.

Tomorrow I have my hair appointment and after that will go over to Juanita's to balance her checkbook.  Then I will pick up Bob at his sister, Betty's, and we will go to eat lunch at Big Cheese.  It will be a busy week. Wednesday afternoon is also game day at the senior center.

More later...

I did go to exercise class after all. There were only 14 of us there. There are usually 20 or 22. I don't know where everyone was.

We had a very good lunch at Karan's today and she sent some of it home for Bob and me on Thursday too.  She also sent both of us watermelon.  It was delicious! It was a chicken and rice casserole.  She served homemade potato soup too. We had some of the watermelon for dessert.

I took some to Marilyn R. She had had a turn for the worse last night and wasn't up to going to Karan's. She has an ear infection. She will be going back to Urgent Care sometime this afternoon.

More even later...

Marilyn and I went back to Urgent Care at 2:00 and waited until 3:15 for her to get in to see the nurse practitioner.  Her ear infection has not yet cleared up. It takes three or four days for the antibiotic to work it's magic. At least that's what she was told.

I read the rest of the afternoon and Bob came in at 5:15 to watch the news. He told me his cake was cooling before he could ice it. That reminded me to bake mine. After he left I got mine in the oven and later...just before bedtime, I got it iced.  I texted Karan about hers. She had also forgotten it. She was getting it ready to go into the oven when she texted me back about it. She will bring it over in the morning.

We will be one short anyhow. Phyllis has a hurt foot and the doctor told her to stay off of it so we will not have hers. I have to stop at the church and pick up Sue's. She left it in the freezer there on Sunday.

It's 9:00 and my bedtime.  So goodnight all!

Sunday...and Church

I slept well again last night and got up at 4:45. Missy, my cat, was already up. I am dressed now and ready for church. But before I go, I will eat my breakfast and feed Missy.. She will want to go out on the carport too. We can do that for awhile after it gets light.

We plan to go over to "Just Us" at Cherryvale for lunch again after church.

But right now, I'd better get our breakfasts. More later...

Well, we had our breakfasts and even went outside but it's 56 degrees out there and even with a jacket, it was too chilly for me for very long. Besides that. Missy felt she had to roam over to Marilyn's carport and I had to go fetch her back. It got to be too much of a hassle and I soon brought her back in. She was not a happy kitty but I am now just fine without my jacket.

Bob is bringing his banana nut bread to the church school class today so I have not had to bake this morning. I will have to bake tomorrow because this is our week to take the cakes to Independence. And Juanita just called and she has her bank statement. After I get my hair done, I will go by and balance her check book while Bob is visiting his sister, Betty. Then we will go to Big Cheese for lunch. That's Tuesday.

Tomorrow, I plan to have a ham and potato casserole for lunch. I will fix a veggie and Bob will bring a salad. I will have pudding and cookies for dessert.

More later...

We did go to "Just Us" after church today. There were three of us.  Phyllis has hurt her foot somehow and cannot be on it for awhile.

After lunch, we took Karan back to the church to pick up her car and then came on back to Coffeyville. Bob dropped me off and I spent the afternoon on the congregational newsletter and working on some of my files.

It's shortly after 4:00 now and I will finish this up and get back to it later.

Bob came over at 5:20 and stayed until 6:00 to watch the news.I took my bath and Missy and I watched TV until 9:00, when we went to bed.
