Saturday and Nothing Much Going On

I slept well again last night and was only up once in the night and got right back to sleep until 5:00AM...my regular time to get up. I made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. At this point I have nothing planned. 

It's 5:35AM now. I will go fix my breakfast and turn on the TV for the weather channel. I missed my walk yesterday because of the cold and I don't know what to expect out of today.

Scruff came for her breakfast and I don't see a thing of Blondie. Scruff is eating like she hadn't eaten for a week. It's probably because of the cold. According to my phone it is 21 degrees here in Caney. She started to turn away but instead went back to eat even more. 

Blondie just came to eat too. They are both eating now. I am glad Blondie finally came. I don't know what to expect of the weather today. We were forecast for snow yesterday but it never developed. Scruff is gone now but Blondie is still eating.

I think he is leaving now too. It's 6:17AM and I am hoping to get the weather forecast in a minute...on an "8".

Sure enough..it happened.Today is to be 45 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 48 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 56 degrees and sunny, Tuesday will be 57 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 58 degrees and partly cloudy Thursday is to be 53 degrees and AM showers, Friday is to be 51 degrees and partly cloudy. At least we are forecast rain for Thursday...that's Thanksgiving. ..wouldn't you know! At 45 degrees and sunny...maybe I will get my walk today.

I took my walk at 7:20AM. and got back about 7:50AM. It was 20 degrees but there was no breeze and that made it tolerable. The sun is shining too. I am glad to get my walk in again.

I hate missing it because I know it is good for me to keep walking.

I sent my granddaughter, Christina a birthday card. Hopefully she will get it on the 26th...her birthday. With the holiday, we never know.  I am getting one  ready for Nancy too. Her birthday is the 28th.. the day before Scott's. His birthday is the 29th. I will not send theirs off until the 23rd. 

I went to the post office and bought some more stamps. I use a lot of stamps between the birthday cards and newsletters and bulletins for the part of the congregation that don't show up for church. Soon I will also be sending out Christmas cards and the class newsletter. One classmate has already sent me a check toward the postage. I am putting all postage donations for the class newsletter in an envelope strictly for that. I also sent her a thank you note for her donation.

I went through the classmate newsletters that were returned last year and marked the "returned 2022 class letters" on my two lists.I have a classmate address list on each of my two computers.I try to keep them updated  so I don't send a newsletter out to classmates that have probably died or even moved to a different address without updating me. Postage is too expensive.

I called Sally and asked her if she wanted to go to the Copan Restaurant with me and she did. I picked her up at about 11:30PM. We had a steak sandwich and then I took her home. We had a good visit though.

I bought more stamps this afternoon. I will need them for tomorrow's congregation letters after church.

I read this evening and also watched the Ohio State/Maryland football game. Ohio State won 43 to30 but for awhile there it looked doubtful. 

After the game,I went back to reading my Kindle. Then I took my bath and put my pajamas and robe on and will read some more until 9:00PM...my usual bedtime.

Friday and Snow in the Forecast

I was planning on going down to Bartlesville to see Nancy today since the kids will be here all week next week. Keith and Esther will be here Monday afternoon until the next Friday and I need to be at home on that Monday. So I will call Nancy today if it's at all possible or at least leave a message with the woman at the front desk for her. We are forecast for snow so I am not sure I can go to Bartlesville.. 

I slept fairly well last night and was up once to take my meds which I usually do sometime in the night. 

Then I got up at my usual 5:00AM, made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I will fix my breakfast next and eat it in the living room.

Both cats were here for breakfast and they ate and are now gone. In a little bit I will go take the cat food in the garage and cover it. I want to be sure they are finished with it first.

I see we are supposed to have snow today. I may just call the Green Country Village assisted living home and ask the receptionist to wake Nancy and tell her I will not be coming on Monday. My son and his wife will be here for Thanksgiving week.

We are forecast for snow today and 32 degrees. Tomorrow is to be 45 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 50 degrees and sunny. Monday is to be 55 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 58 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 58 degrees and mostly cloudy, Thursday is to be 54 degrees and mostly cloudy.That's the week..snow today... and no rain this week.

Now I am going to watch the news. 

I contacted the Green Country Village and asked the receptionist to tell Nancy I would not be down to see her this next week because Keith and Esther are coming on Monday and will be here with me until Friday. I will come on Monday the week after Thanksgiving week.Scott and Ginger will be here for Thanksgiving too but they will be staying with John and Leslie. 

Once again I did not get my County Chronicle so I contacted Kathy and told her. She sent me one from her computer. They have a separate company sending out their electronic editions. Somehow they are not always able to  get mine to me. Kathy sent me one and gave me a hard copy too. 

I contacted Gina and told her she would have to cancel the donation I give to the Historical Society because I set it up with her and not the bank. I will give the Historical Society my donation in cash after my Social Security comes in.

There may be snow in the forecast but we are halfway through the afternoon and nothing but lovely sunshine so far. It's almost 3:00PM. It is 31 degrees however!

It's 4:23PM. and I have been reading most of the afternoon and finished the last book. 

I will watch the news until time for my bath at 7:00PM and then I will read again....a new book until 9:00PM my bedtime.

 

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

Once again I slept until 6:00AM.That will help me be rested again today. I got dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am hoping to be able to take my walk today. I missed yesterday. I had to leave too early and besides it was really too cold out there.

I am having my breakfast in the den here again. In a little while after I finish eating, I will go check on the cats. I never did see Scruff yesterday...just Blondie.She was very fat. I still wonder if she was pregnant and had kittens.Or maybe someone took her to their farm.That happened once before with a different cat. I used to feed four.

I have finished my breakfast and will go turn on the TV and check on the weather and also the cats. The computer says it's 31 degrees out there.

So more later.. 

What do you know...both cats were out there for their breakfast and Scruff is still fat..and so is Blondie...but he is male so he definitely is not pregnant.:)

They are eating hungrily!

Now I am waiting for "the weather on the 8's" . It should be time for that anytime.  It's 7:08AM now. (they didn't run it on this "8")

The cats have eaten their breakfast and have left now. I will go bring in the food and put it in the garage and cover it.  

I finally caught the weather forecast for the week. Today will be 50 degrees and partly cloudy, Tomorrow is to be 32 degrees and cloudy, Saturday is to be 44 degrees and sunny,  Sunday is to be 50 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 54 degrees and sunny,  Tuesday is to be 57 degrees and mostly sunny, and Wednesday is to be 55 degrees and cloudy. Again..no rain in the forecast.. although today there is a 20% chance of rain..that's not much of a chance.

I think I will bundle up and take my walk. So, More later ...

I took my walk and it was cold but not terrible. I think it was 7:33AM when I left. It's 8:02AM now.

More later...I am going to watch Good Morning America. 

I watched Good Morning America for awhile and then got my bare floors mopped. They are drying now. After they are dry, I will vacuum the carpet.

It is 8:53 now.  

I went over to Coffeyville again today to try to get that mess with my $5.00  donation to the Caney Historical Society. They have taken it out of the bank twice some months...but not all months.  Gina says the historical society only gets one of the month's donations. I guess the only answer to this dilemma is to cancel the donation and just make a cash donation once a month. While I was in Coffeyville I went out to Woodshed in South Coffeyville and bought gas and then I came on back home and went to the market to get the ingredients for the Waldorf salad for Thanksgiving. I will make it up on Wednesday and let it marinate overnight for the Thanksgiving dinner.

I mopped the bare floors before I went to the market. When I got back and put everything away and had my lunch, I began vacuuming and got everything done but the dining room. I am resting now and will do the dining room in a bit.

I got the dining room vacuuming done and everything is clean again. Suzanne brought me some ham and beans today and that's what I had for lunch. They were very good and I have enough for another meal too. I went down to Mr. G's at the corner at the highway and ordered a small butter pecan flurry. I have one every once in awhile. They are very tasty and are only a little over $4.00.

Scruff came for supper but I didn't see anything of Blondie. I imagine he ate at his home this evening. She is still pretty fat..evidently not pregnant.

It's 5:13PM and I am going to watch the CBS evening news now. I watched the news...such as it was..and then took my bath and put my pajamas and robe on.

I also put new batteries in the two small flashlights I leave in the bedroom for help in getting to the bathroom in the middle of the night without falling. I use a larger one anymore simply because the batteries were down in the smaller ones. I put new triple A batteries in both of them and they each took four batteries. But the lights are good and strong now. I will leave those two flashlights for Esther and Keith to use while they are here. They will be here Monday afternoon around 1:00PM or 2:00PM. I will need to call and tell Nancy I will not be coming down next Monday.

I will read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

Wednesday and a Hair Day and Bunco.

I had an unusual night. I only woke up once and got right back to sleep and slept until 6:30AM. I haven't slept that late in years.

I have made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. It's 7:15AM now and I imagine the cats are out there wondering where on earth I am. I'd better check that out and also the weather.  

I'll get back to this in a minute ...

Blondie was out there waiting but there wasn't a sign of Scruff . She must have given up on me. He is really enjoying his food though.  He had eaten his fill and left already. I will put away the food unless Scruff shows up.

Now I am waiting for "the weather on the 8's" to come on. 

The Haley's were just getting ready and leaving for work. They spoke and then left for their jobs. I will need to leave at 8:15AM myself. My appointment is at 9:00AM and I have to go to the bank first too.

The weather finally came on and I got a photo of it. Today is to be 40 degrees and sunny, tomorrow is to be 51 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 32 degrees and cloudy, Saturday is to be 44 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 50 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 55 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 55 and mostly sunny. That's the week and no rain in the forecast!

More later in the day. It's about time for me to leave for Coffeyville.  I have had my oatmeal and coffee. That's all I have had time for this morning.

I got to Coffeyville in time for my 9:00AM appointment for my hair and then I went to the library and sat out at my car and read my Kindle.  I also went over to Dr. Dobbins, the eye doctor, and made a January 11th, 11:00AM appointment to get my  eyes tested again.

Then I read in the car until time to go to the senior center for Bunco. We had four tables this time.

I read most of the afternoon and then watched some news. It's 7:02PM now and I just had my bath and put my pajamas on and my robe. Even though the furnace is set on 77degrees,I have been chilly off and on all afternoon. If I turn it up though, I will wake up in the night too warm. That will disturb my already shaky sleep.

I will read some more on my book on my Kindle and then plan to go to bed at 9:00PM. I hope to sleep as well as I did last night.

Tuesday and a Free Day

I slept well again last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I don't know if it rained or snowed last night because it's too dark to tell at this time. It's just 5:29AM right now. When it gets light out, I will go check out the weather and the cats. Blondie came for supper last night but I didn't see anything of Scruff.

I am eating my breakfast now here in the den. I will get back to this in a moment.  

I just checked my checking account. I am $7.00 short. So far I haven't found it. It may be a couple of tips.

Both cats came for breakfast and I went out to bring it back to the garage but Scruff came back for more so I left it out there for a little while longer.

In the meanwhile,the weather report came up.  Today will be 46 degrees and AM clouds, Tomorrow will be 41 degrees and sunny, Thursday will be 48 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is forecast for 33 degrees and clouds...PM sun, Saturday is to be 43 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 47  degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 51 degrees and sunny. That's the week. They have taken any rain out of the forecast for the next week. I must have rained a little last night. The sidewalk was wet.

More Later...

I took my walk this morning. It was cold but not windy. I wore my jacket and my gloves. I always take my fully charged phone in my pocket...just in case. I left at 7:33AM and got back home by 7:55AM...not too bad. And I know I have to keep walking or I may lose the ability to walk as I age.

I read most of the afternoon and later went out to Eggbert's and had a hamburger steak and mashed potatoes and green beans and a roll. That was something different from what I usually have.It was good and I came on back home and later and I went out to Myrtle's Market and looked at all the Christmas decorations and Christmas gift ideas. I didn't buy anything but I sure looked. I will need to get up in the attic and get down my Christmas decorations before Christmas. 

I no longer have a tree. I gave it away to a homeless woman that Karan and the caretaker from the Brown Mansion helped to find a place to live. I didn't have a light plug here in the den so there was no place to set it up anyhow...with lights. I do have a number of Christmas decorations but they are in the attic. I will get them down closer to December.

Scott called today. They are leaving Tennessee on the Monday before Thanksgiving, staying overnight at Council Bluff and coming in to John and Leslie's on Tuesday afternoon. They will be leaving the day after Thanksgiving.This fall they are going to take a couple of vacations with their neighbors. One place they are going is to Europe. I believe he said they were also going to Hawaii later.

Keith and Esther will probably stay with me. I will give them my bed and I will sleep in the den on the trundle.

It's 6:52PM now and I just took my bath and put my pajamas and robe on.

I will go read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

Monday and an Oil Change and my trip to See Nancy

I slept very well last night but it was after 11:00PM before I got to go to bed. We were so late getting home. It was actually an exhausting evening and the drive home so late was hard too.

The music was way too loud and nothing I ever would have enjoyed. I hope the other four concerts are more to my taste. They are all next year. The drive home was also different. The night was very cloudy and dark. I had to use my brights to even see. All in all I should have just stayed home.

I stripped my bed this morning and am doing a load of sheets and underwear. 

And I need to get my oil changed today. My oil change light finally went to 15%...where it needs to be to get the oil and filter changed. Later this morning, after 8:00AM, I will call Tate Boys and see if they can do the oil change and filter this morning. My warning light is on the dash. I would take the car to Josh but they are always swamped. Tate Boys has more mechanics. Josh just has his brother. And Josh works in their Sedan shop so it's really just his brother. I would take it to the Honda dealership there in Bartlesville but they always want to add another $100.worth of work.Last time I took it there the wanted to change out the filter in the glove box. The last time they did that it cost me an arm and a leg. I no longer have an extra arm and leg.. so if I can get it in, I will take it to Tate Boys.

My laundry is in the dryer now. Changing the sheets always seems also to be exhausting. And folding them when they are dry is just as bad. I only change my sheets every other Monday. I am the only one that sleeps in that bed unless I have company.

I am having my breakfast here in the den...as usual. It's 6:32AM now and I need to go check on the cats. They are usually there by 6:30AM.

And the cats were there...waiting for me to open the door and see them. I took their food out to them and they are still eating.

They are gone now so I guess they are through eating. I put their food in the garage and covered it.

About that time, "the weather on the 8's" came on the TV. I see we are to have rain and perhaps even snow tonight. PM showers for sure though and 43 degrees. Tuesday is to be 46 degrees and clouds and PM sunny, Wednesday is to be 41 degrees and  sunny, Thursday 45 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 34 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 41 degrees and sunny and Sunday is to be 45 degrees and sunny. Rain today and that's it...and that later today.

More later...

I got the sheets and other laundry dried and folded and put away for another two weeks. I do laundry every Monday morning but not the sheets. I do those every two weeks. They are a hassle.

In another 45 minutes at 8:00AM, I will try to call Tate Boys to get an appointment for the oil and filter change.

More Later...

I got hold of Tate Boys and they told me to come right down and they could get me in and get my oil changed and a new filter in..so that's what I did. After that I went to visit Nancy and we went to that new Cafe that Sally took us to last week to have our lunch. She was there too so we invited her to join us.  I took Nancy on a short ride and then after that I took her back to her Assisted Living  apartment.

Then I came home. I had a couple of Christmas gift packages waiting for me. I got them labeled and put away until later in December when I will wrap them.

I wrote some checks and got them in the mail and then went on to the market for milk, I am nearly out and I need it for my oatmeal at breakfast. I also bought a treat for Bunco on Wednesday.

When I got back home, Blondie was waiting for me for some supper. He wanted to eat in the garage but that isn't going to happen.

Now I am going to read awhile until the CBS evening news comes on. 

I read for awhile but so far, I'm not impressed with this book. I did watch the CBS news. It's a little after 7:00PM and I have just had my bath and have my pajamas on. I may put on my robe if it gets any colder. I washed my jeans and underwear this afternoon and it is taking a long time for them to dry. I should have washed my jacket too but I was afraid the jeans would have faded on the jacket . The jacket is washable but I will wash it with something I am not afraid of it fading a color on it.

I will watch some TV until 9:00PM or so and then go on to bed. I don't have a plan for tomorrow. Wednesday I will have my hair done and later at 1:00PM ..Bunco at the senior center and then Friday is that $3.00 dinner there. I will probably go back over there for that if we don't get snow.

Sunday and Church

I slept pretty well last night again and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have dressed and made my bed and got myself ready for the day. In a little while I will make my coffeecake for the breakfast at church. I won't leave for church until 8:30AM so I have some time to get the coffeecake made. It's only 5:45AM now. As usual, I am eating my breakfast here in the den.

It will be an unusually busy day. This evening at 6:00PM, I will pick up Sally for our trip to Bartlesville for our concert. We will be getting home late. It's probably a two hour concert and it begins at 7:30PM and after it's over we will have the 30 minute trip back to Caney.

Before I even look at the weather or the cats, I will get that coffeecake in the oven. It will need to cool some before I can put the glaze on it too.

I got the coffeecake in the oven and also caught the cats out there waiting for their breakfast. They ate and left so I brought the food back in and put it in the garage and covered it.

Now I caught the weather too.

Today is to be 48 degrees and sunny, Monday will be 45 degrees and cloudy, Tuesday is to be 45 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 39 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 45 degrees and Mostly sunny, Friday is to be 34 degrees and mostly cloudy and Saturday is to be 40 degrees and partly cloudy. I see they took the rain out of Monday...too bad! We need the rain.

The coffeecake is done and has the glaze on it too. It's only 7:30AM now and I don't need to be at church until about 8:45. The breakfast is at 9:30AM.

I will leave here at 8:30. That will give us an hour to prepare things for the breakfast. Then after the service we will pack our boxes for the Christmas Child project.

I got to church in plenty of time to get my coffeecake to church for breakfast. We still haven't had any guests come to eat with us yet. We are out in the country so that may be a factor. It may take awhile.

Karan spoke at church and, as usual, did a good job. Melissa will be up next week.  They were gone this week to Kelly's daughter's wedding. We had a nice group though.

I will leave at shortly before 6:00PM to pick up Sally for our concert in Bartlesville. It doesn't start until 7:30pm but we anticipate having a hard time finding parking if we wait any later. We will just visit until they open the doors. 

We got in the community center and after awhile they began to look at our tickets and we went up and found our seats.  The concert was very loud and the music was not anything I liked. But it was something to do on a Sunday night that was different. It was all about Aretha Franklin's life. I am hoping the other four concerts will be something I will like. It was a different experience..that's for sure.

Sally felt the same way.

It was after 10:00PM when we left the community center. I took Sally home and then I got home about 10:30PM. I took my bath and will go on to bed right away.
