Saturday and Breakfast Out

I picked up Bob at 6:45 to go to breakfast at Eggberts. It was good... although their prices have gone up.

When I got home I put my laundry in the dryer. I had started the laundry before I left for breakfast.

Later at about 10:00 I attempted to use my Bose remote to turn on the TV.  I had been having problems with it. Now it wouldn't work at all. The batteries had finally died. I replaced the batteries and could not remember how I programmed the TV initially.  So I called Bose. They walked me through how to program one part after another but there were just too many functions that would not work. The DVD player would not and the "source" button wouldn't either. Finally at 1:00 they said it had to be the remote and they would send me a new one free gratus. It should be here on the 17th..according to the woman I spoke to. In the meantime, if I need the "source" button I can access that function on the Cox remote.  I sure enjoy my Bose sound system. Now, I am charging my phone.  I just charged it last night but being on it nearly all morning ran it down again.

More later...

I watched TV and read all afternoon. I am trying to finish my book.  I also read the Journal newspaper that came at 2:00. It's been a quiet afternoon.

I took Missy out for a little while but she did not want to be outside...strange...

Bob came over at 5:20 and stayed until 7:00. When he left I took my bath and watched TV until 9:00 when Missy and I went to bed.

Friday and Exercises

I slept really well last night. I did take a melatonin tablet but our bodies make melatonin anyhow and as we age, it makes less. That's one reason some of us have problems sleeping as we age. Anyhow..I slept well.

It is raining this morning but I plan to go to exercise class anyhow. I missed Wednesday but got plenty of exercise anyhow since I cleaned the apartment.

Missy seems to be alright this morning even though I still have sofa cushions in the chairs.

I won't need to water the plants today since it is raining. It's supposed to rain all week and then next week it's supposed to get hot again.

We will have leftover meatloaf and baked potatoes for lunch today. I still have Bob's salad in the frig and we will have a veggie. I may fix pudding for dessert and I still have cookies. I will need to bake cookies soon though. I have one every evening with my yogurt. That sort of negates the yogurt though but it does put something mild in my stomach for sleeping ease.

I have decided to get my passport next month instead of this month. I did my car registration and tag this month. That was an extra.

More later....

I laid down with Missy and watched TV in the afternoon and later Bob came to watch Brooks and Shields with me.  When he left I took my bath. Leslie called and discussed her frustration about trying to get her passport  in Bartlesville. The paper she thought was her birth certificate turned out to be the form we use to order our official state birth certificate so she wants to go to Tulsa on Monday to get her actual state of Oklahoma birth certificate. She asked me to go with her. Of course, I will go.  Later Missy and I watched TV until 10:00 when we both went to bed.

Thursday and Lunch Out

I slept really well last night. And I didn't take Zyrtec either. I got up at my regular time...5:00 AM.

Today I want to clean the apartment and mop the kitchen and bathroom floors.

We will eat at the Kansas Buffet at 11:30. That will give me a break from cooking.   I don't have anything else planned for today. I did my grocery shopping yesterday afternoon.

KUMC called me yesterday to change my appointment with the urologist. They wanted me to take a little later time. That gave me an opportunity to ask for a change to September 18th instead of September 11th. Also I moved the time to 1:30. Leslie was so relieved about the change of date and time. I was so glad to be able to make the change.

I wrote a letter to the editors of the three newspapers I subscribe to day before yesterday. I see that it was used in the County Chronicle this morning.  I get that one online and it's a weekly. Writing letters to the editors of our newspapers is a better way of reaching our legislators.  Their clipping service will see to it that the legislator sees it...your letter reaches their constituency.

More later...

Well, it's 8:00  and I have mopped both the bathroom and kitchen floors and vacuumed the entire apartment.  That should do it for awhile. I still have to dust but that's not a big deal in a two bedroom apartment. I can do that after lunch. Right now, Missy wants to go back outside. So...more later...

I saw this on the news.

A disturbing video clearly shows the distressed 8-month-old baby crying while the infant was in the care of the two unidentified teenage girls.

"In that video, two young ladies could be seen on the video placing a small child, an infant, into a refrigerator," Ambrose said.

The video led police to the teenage babysitters, and in it they can be heard laughing while the baby cries.

I don't know what has got into some of the younger generation.  Some definitely have not been trained in proper behavior. It's a strange world...certainly nothing like the one I grew up in.

More later...

We had a good lunch at Kansas Buffet. I saw a classmate of mine and she looked good still...at 82.

Now I will lay down and have a nap with Missy...if she will have anything to do with me.  She was angry before lunch because to keep her out of my chair, I put a sofa cushion in the chair. She was not happy. I went up to the shopping center to finish my grocery shopping and when I got home she was in the chair Bob uses. So I put the other sofa pillow in it and made her get down. Talk about an angry cat! Wow!

More later...

I have watched TV this afternoon. The news is grim...the president had a news conference and made some more of his "remarks".

The paper came and I have read it. It is 4:35 now.

More even later...

Bob came over a little after 5:00 and stayed to watch the news. It began to thunder about 6:15 and he went home. I stayed up and watched "To Sir With Love" one of my favorite old movies.

I went to bed at 9:00. later, Missy came in about 10:00 and climbed up on the bed. She was angry all afternoon because I put the sofa pillows in the velvet chairs to keep her from climbing up into them. I guess she got over her snit.

Wednesday and No Exercises

I slept well last night and am dressed and ready for the day and have fed myself and Missy. We have been outside for a little while too although we came in when she wanted to eat something.

I will not go to exercise class today. Phyllis will bring me her registration and check for the tour in October.  I will get my meatloaf ready to go and after she comes I may go out to Walmart and buy a few groceries. I got my social security last night. Next month I don't get it until the 13th so I will have to be careful what I spend this month. I do have to pay the registration and tag for my car. I will just wait until next month to get my passport.

I broke down last night and sent another letter to the editors of the three newspapers I take. The president is going to get us into a nuclear war if he's not careful...and the man doesn't know what the word "careful" means. Enough politics...

I need to pay the registration and tag for my car today. That's a once a year expense.

I have the meatloaf mixed up and the potatoes all ready to go in the microwave. I know what veggie we will have and Bob will bring the salad. It's only 10:00 so I am ahead of the game.

 More later....

Lunch was good and we had enough to share some meatloaf with Marilyn R.  Tomorrow we plan to eat at Sirloin Stockade (now Kansas Buffet since it has sold). It is the cheapest place in town to eat and has a good variety.  I only cook anymore about three days a week.  I cook on Monday and Wednesday and Friday. We eat out on Tuesday after my hair appointment and Thursday we eat out somewhere and Saturday morning we out at Eggberts for breakfast.  That gives me a break from cooking.

I went to the Montgomery County Tag Office after lunch and renewed my registration and got my 2018 sticker which sticks on my license tag. It cost a little over $122. My car is 10 years old but the cost of registering it and getting a new sticker for the tag goes down..... very slowly.

I will need to get my drivers license renewed before my birthday in December.

I should go lay down with Missy, my cat, and perhaps get a nap.

So more later...

I never did that. I read instead and went out to Walmart and bought some groceries.

Bob came over shortly after 5:00 to watch the news. Afterward he went home. I watched a bit of the Glen Campbell tribute on TV. I couldn't watch it. He was just too pathetic with his Alzheimers. It made me very sad. My only sister died of Alzheimers 6 years ago.

I took my bath at 7:00 PM and got myself ready for bed. I did make a donation to PBS. I enjoy their programming so much more then anything else on TV.

Missy and I will go to bed at 9:00.

Tuesday and Cakes

I slept very well last night for a change. I awoke at 2:00 and went to the bathroom and then got right back to bed and back to sleep.

I got up at 5:00 and got myself ready for the day, fed Missy and myself and after seeing the weather, went outside for awhile after I loaded the cakes into the trunk of my car.  I still have to stop at the church to pick up Sue's cake since she left it in the freezer there.

When I took Missy outside for a little while, she seemed nervous and wanted to come back in. She had been sick again last evening and lost her supper. I cleaned it up and cleaned the carpet there. She must have eaten too fast.

I got my paperwork from KUMC yesterday and filled it all out. Now to remember to take it with me to Kansas City next month. That will be the challenge.

I will leave at 8:20 to pick up Bob to go to Independence to deliver the cakes. Then I will go to my hair appointment. After that we will kill some time before going to Great China for lunch.

The flowers are holding up pretty well in this cool weather. I watered the potted ones yesterday. The east side seems to be holding up pretty well after the rain night before last.

This one looks a lot better.

It is really full! I went out after awhile and deadheaded the flowers and watered.

Tomorrow we will have meatloaf and baked potatoes for lunch with veggies and a salad.  Bob will bring the salad.

More later...

We went to Great China after we delivered the cakes and I had my hair done. We also went to Walmart and picked out book bags and school supplies. Every year we take school supplies to an elementary school in Caney, a community 20 miles west of here. They have no organizations to help them with school supplies for their low income families. Here in Coffeyville and Independence several service organizations donate school supplies.

After lunch we came back to Coffeyville and I stopped at the cemetery to check the birth dates on my folks tombstones. I will need that information to get a passport. My mom was born February 8th 1912. My dad was born February 24th 1906. Then I dropped Bob off at his apartment building.  He will take a nap. I might do that too.

More even later...

I did lay down with Missy. I took a short nap. Then the paper came and I read that and worked the crossword puzzle. After awhile, Bob came and we watched the CBS news...alarming as it is.

After he left, I watched PBS and later took my bath and got ready for bed. At 9:00, Missy and I will go to bed.

Monday and Exercises

I slept well until 3:00 and from then on it was off and on..mostly off. I gave up at 4:30 and just got up. Maybe the nap yesterday spoiled my sleep. Who knows. It's always a mystery.

I stripped my bed and after awhile I will do that laundry. I put my new sheets on the bed and remade it.

I have dressed and have myself ready for the day. Now it's time to go get breakfast for Missy and myself. I will pick up Bob at 8:45 for exercise class and then come home and do that laundry and fix lunch. We will have tuna cakes and fried potatoes and a veggie. Bob will bring a salad. I saved him a few strawberries for his dessert. I ate mine last night.

I heard from my friend Myra last evening by e-mail. She has moved to Wyoming to be near her youngest daughter. She has some health problems. I will miss her. We had some good times together. We used to meet at Bartlesville and shop and then have lunch together and catch up on our news. She is seven years younger then I am. She just doesn't have as good health. She lost her husband, Bob, a few months after I lost my Bob in 2010. We had been really good friends with them for 50 years.

So...more later...

Scott called me a little while ago. I had texted both Keith and him about the Tulsa tornado. We visited about it awhile.  Then he arrived at his job site and had to get off the phone.  It was good to hear from him again though. He used to call once a week but they have been very busy. They had her son, Nathan, there this past weekend getting him fixed for college.  They bought clothes, etc.

Ginger had bought him another truck this spring. I think Scott said it was a 2014..nice truck.

They have been working on their back yard too and it is looking really good. He has posted photos on his facebook page.

Then a couple of weeks ago, they took a cruise.

Image may contain: ocean, sky, water and outdoor

This was their ship.

I got my laundry done and in the dryer. In about an hour I will start lunch. We usually eat at 11:30.

More later...

I got lunch going and Bob came over just before 11:30. Lunch was fine. I gave him the extra tuna cake to take home. I also gave him the rest of the strawberries and a cooky for dessert.

I went to the bank to get some cash for my hairdo tomorrow and lunch.

Then I laid down with Missy and watched TV in the afternoon. Steve, the man that mows for us, came and mowed and trimmed the lawn. It looks very nice. He takes his blower and blows off the carport and patio after he trims too.

Bob came back after 5:15 and we watched the news and I fixed him the rest of the vanilla ice cream he brought by a month ago. Then we watched a DVD Karan gave him to watch. It was a Dean Martin roast of Bob Hope and Johnny Carson. They were both very funny.

Bob left a little while ago and I took my bath and will watch TV if I can find anything to watch. I plan to get Missy and go to bed at 9:00. It's ten after 8:00 now.

Sunday and Storms

I slept well last night but awoke after I had a nightmare.  Must have been the Zyrtec I took at bedtime.

It stormed last night. I slept through all of it but I noticed that the desktop computer was down this morning. The other three were fine. I got it up alright and ran Glary Utilities to clear up any damage.

I got Missy her breakfast and had my own. When I dressed and turned on the TV, I learned  that Tulsa had had a tornado last night around 1:30 AM. It was probably an EF 2.

I will go to church school and church this morning and Bob will drive. We are planning on going to the Italian restaurant, the Brothers Railroad Inn, in Independence, for lunch. Bob will also pick up Phyllis and she will go with us.  I invited Rick and Carmen, my neighbors, to come to church but I don't know if they will make the effort with this rain coming down.

When I get home I will get the Crossroads Newsletter out.

More later...

Rick and Carmen both came to church this morning. Rick even helped with the communion. They seem happy with our congregation. The have come for a month.

Bob and Phyllis and I went to the Brothers Railroad Inn for lunch. It  was very good but a lot more expensive. We won't do it on a regular basis. We may go next time to Great China for dinner after church. We all like that.

I have four newsletters ready to go into the snail mail and all the others out in e-mail. Now I am working on my blog. We will be taking cakes up to Independence on Tuesday morning so I will be baking mine in the morning.  We will pick up Sue's at the church's freezer on Tuesday on our way to  Independence for my hair appointment.

I have nothing more planned this afternoon so maybe I will read my new Kindle book.

More later...

Instead, I took a nap. About 5:15 Bob came over to watch the news  and 60 Minutes...which was reruns. He left early to watch the CNN special on comedy at home. I took my bath and laid on the sofa with Missy to watch it too. I wasn't impressed. We finally gave up on it and went to bed at 9:45.
