Saturday Breakfast at Eggberts

We always go to Eggberts every Saturday for breakfast. They make a real  good breakfast. Bob and I enjoy it and I have some 20% off coupons I get at the market on my register tape. .

I am so glad spring is finally showing up. I don't know when I've been so sick of winter.  I think I will clean house today. I did quite a bit of laundry yesterday and the day before.  We have eaten out twice this week and I will just fix some potato soup for today. I will get some cheese to go with it.  I had one of my Dilly bars yesterday evening and a smoothie with milk and frozen strawberries.  I slept like a baby. I awoke only once at 3:00AM and went right back to sleep. Nothing hurt and that helped a lot.

I got another two staff members for camp this summer. I only need a couple of teachers now and someone to do campfires.  If I can't find someone to do the devotions around the flagpole, I will do them myself. I have done them in the past.  I can also find presiders for the three preaching services when I find out who all will be attending..

More later ....

We had our potato soup at noon. It was good. I had some lemon pudding afterward.  I didn't get any housework done. I just couldn't get motivated. I took a short napand afterward went over to the Country Time Antique Mall and browsed around.

We've had a strong north wind today and it never did warm up

Bob will be over later for wine and to watch TV.  I went over to Gillham's and bought the wine earlier after I went to Wal Mart and bought twenty some dollars worth of groceries. .

Nice Friday

It's been a nice day. It's a little windy. I did not sleep last night. I went to bed at 10:00 and awoke at 2:00. From then on I just lay there and worried about everything.  I am so afraid they are about to raise the rent on all of us and we are all very concerned about that.

I did go to my dental appointment today and had my teeth cleaned and examined. That cost $112.00 That's $112.00 that's not in my budget. Ho Hum! What else is new?

I made the last 48 minutes of the exercise class and then we all went to Utopia for coffee and cinnamon rolls. I came home and started lunch. We had swiss steak and baked potatoes and veggies and coleslaw with lemon pudding for dessert.

I spent some time this afternoon raking leaves again. I also went out to Woodshed at South Coffeyville and bought a tank of gas. It was $3.39 a gallon. That's better then here in Coffeyville where it's $3.69 a gallon.

I also sent back the Kindle Fire tablet I had ordered before all this came up.  It was a good deal at $40.00 down and then $28.00 a month for four months. No interest at all.  I decided  I needed the money more then I needed a tablet. Lord only knows how much the new owner will raise the rent

Tonight I will watch PBS for the Brooks and Shields commentary. I am changing my TV to the "Starter Package" on the first. That's $28.00 a month for 16 channels.  When my landlord picked up the cost, we had the TV Essential package.  It was $67.99 and he paid for 50 channels of TV for all four of us.  The next step with the new owners will be a raise in the rent.

When I moved in here I bought all Roman shades for each window. I bought a very nice bamboo shade for the living room and den. I also brought my own stove, frig and over-the-range microwave unit. If I have to move again, I will take all of those things with me.  I also had John install a cabinet in the bathroom and a mounted on the wall hair dryer. He built me an above the ground flowerbed.  I will also take those.

Bob will come ever this evening to watch some TV with me. The Big Bang Theory was pre-empted last night by basketball. I care nothing at all about basketball.

The paper will be here shortly. It's not much but it's the only local news we get. .

Lunch in Chanute

Bob and I are going to Chanute to eat with Gay at Opie's. I try to get up to Chanute about once every month to six weeks to see Gay. She is my oldest and dearest friend.

One of their neat gift shops is going out of business and we will browse around there. In my situation,  I shouldn't buy a thing.  But I always enjoy a visit with Gay.

I slept fairly well last night. I woke up at 3:00 AM with my back and arms hurting. I tried to get back to sleep but it wasn't going to happen. So I got up and poured a glass of milk and took two Aleve. That helped a lot but I still have aches and pains. After I've been up awhile that should subside.

More later....

We went to Chanute this afternoon and had a nice lunch.  Then Tony and Gay and Bob and I looked around in that store.  I didn't buy a thing.

Then I came home and took a nap. Today the wind was furious. The paper came awhile ago and I read it and did the crossword puzzle.  I took it over to Bob's for him to read. He will be over after awhile to have our wine and watch TV.

Tomorrow I have a dental appointment at 8:20. I will not be going to exercise class.

Changes on Wednesday

I was correct in thinking there would be changes now that the property was sold on Monday. Yesterday we received a letter advising us to have the TV cable put in our own names by the1st. Even the next smallest package is an extra $40.00 plus tax that I do not have in my budget. I went up yesterday afternoon and arranged for a change in the package. They will come out on the 31st and install a box.

Today we will have exercise class and I will put a small roast on in the slow cooker for lunch.  I will add the potatoes and have a veggie. Bob will bring coleslaw. and I have some pudding made for dessert.

This evening, I have PINCH meeting. Now I am no longer the chair since the elections and so I have no real responsibility.  But I will attend. This group was very important to my Bob and I have made some real friends in the black community since joining after Bob died.

More later....

After exercise class we are going back up to Cox Communications and Bob will change his TV over to his own name.  I am going to try to go with the starter package to save another $10.00 if it doesn't require a box.

I also cancelled my Friday hair appointment. That will save me $50.00 a month.

I called the new apartment manager this afternoon to ask if they were going to start mowing soon to mulch the leaves and she told me they found that the insurance had not been updated for years and was going to cost a lot more then they thought. She asked me if I knew what the apartments on the east rented for and I told her I only knew about two. One was $385. and the other was $400.  Maureen told me they only raise the rent when they get a new renter in there.

It appears they intend to raise our rent too. I will have to move if they do that. I am stretched to the utmost bounds now.

Cake Tuesday

This is the day we take cakes to Independence and everyone forgot except Bob and me. He remembered because he was over here for lunch and saw my cake mix. I only baked one this week instead of two. I could never find the pans in stock at the market and  I only had one pan. Bob got his baked and I texted Karan this morning  and she is baking one now. Phyllis forgot too. I am not going to trouble her with a reminder. It was not on the bulletin this week and I figured that this would be a problem. Perhaps it's time to give up this service. Everyone seems to have lost interest in it.  And I am tired of being the watchdog.

I did not sleep well last night. I am troubled by not having all the camp staff together yet and also by the sale of the apartment complex. Betty said there would be no changes but already we are having to drag our own trash barrels out to the curb. There's a 35 mile per hour wind out there too. Let's face it. I got spoiled letting Wayne and Merrill do it.   I have four bags of leaves and two bags of trash. And I don't have a trash barrel. Marilyn has one and Bob and Jeannie have one but mine is not a regulation trash barrel so I will have to carry my two trash bags and four leaf bags over across the street to Bob's or Marilyn's when it gets light.

Changes! I am not very good at dealing with them.

More later...

Merrill took our trash carts to the curb this time. I guess Bob and I will do it next week. The agency that is managing this property is in Independence so I don't know what to expect from them about mowing, etc.

Bob came over this evening and we  watched some TV and had a small glass of wine and coffeecake but he went home early about 7:00 because all the Big Bang Theory episodes were recent reruns and we were not interested in seeing those again so soon.

St. Patrick's Day Monday

I am wearing green this morning so I don't get pinched at exercise class. :)

Bob came over awhile ago to have coffee and coffee cake. I made that coffee cake yesterday and took it to church. We only had 17 there because of the snow so I still have some left.

Bob is having problems with his gout again. He is going to call the doctor this morning after the office opens. He needs a prescription to clear it up and the doctor will probably want to see him too since he is a new doctor for Bob.

I slept fairly well last night. I awoke at 12:30 and lay there unable to get back to sleep until 1:15 when I got up and drank some milk and took a couple of Aleve. My back is still bothering me and my right arm as well.  That milk did put me back to sleep and I slept until 5:30.

More later....

I fixed our lunch and then afterward made my cake for the First Christian Church in Independence. I will go up there tomorrow to deliver the ones I get. There was no announcement on the bulletin yesterday so everyone may have forgotten it.

I went to town awhile ago and paid for my annual renter's insurance. Another extra expense I have to have.  They sold the apartment complex and closed on it yesterday and the new owner said there would be no changes. I hope there aren't. I am just barely making it now.

Rainy Sunday

It's raining now or at least has been.I went out to get the paper and it wasn't then. But it is windy and chilly.

I will take my own car to church this morning. I am to attend Maia's fourth birthday pasty at the Pizza Hut in Independence at 1:00.  Maia is one of my great granddaughters.  I have seven.

I made a large coffeecake for church this morning.  I had a piece of it already. (I had to make sure it was edible for the group at church) :)

After the party I will come home to do my Sunday newsletters. Then it's a free Sunday.  There is no Living the Questions tonight. It is next Sunday at Marilyn's home.

I still think the flight 370 plane has been hijacked and it appears the Malaysians think the same thing. They have finally   decided to search the homes of the pilot and co-pilot.  They have decided the plane was taken off course deliberately.  It will be interesting to see if the plane can be found. With today's technology, they should be able to find it..

More later....

The party was changed to Jeromy and Marlene's home. Jeromy made the pizza and the party was held there. I left about 2:00.  The pizza was good but the kids were rowdy and I was tired.

Here's my grandson, Jeromy, blowing up party balloons for Maia for her birthday.

I did my letters and then took a nap. Bob dropped in and visited with me awhile and then went home to eat.  He came back about 6:00 and we watched 60 Minutes and a couple of episodes of The Big Bang Theory. Then he went home and I took my bath.

I will try to stay up until 9:00 and then go to bed.

Tomorrow we will go to exercise class. I will fix chicken tenders, potatoes and gravy and a veggie and some of Bob's cottage cheese.

I have no other plans for tomorrow. .
