Saturday and Breakfast Out then a Trip to Chanute

I slept well again last night although I did wake up at 11:00 with some pain in  my legs. I got up, took my thyroid med and some Aleve. Then I went back to bed and back to sleep. Missy cuddled up next to me. I finally got up at 4:00, dressed and got ready for my day. I will pick up Bob for breakfast at 7:00 or shortly before 7:00.

Then later..around 10:00. I will leave for Chanute to meet Gay for lunch. It is raining out there. I took my trash out but didn't want to get out in the rain so I just left it in my chair on the car port. I hope the stray cats don't get into it.

More later...

Before Bob picked me up for breakfast, I noticed the rain had stopped so I took my trash over to the barrel. I did not want stray cats to tear it up looking for food. Then he came and we went to Eggbert's to have breakfast.

Later I came home to read. About 9:15, I decided to go ahead and leave for Chanute. I wasn't sure whether I would run into rain or not but I decided to go ahead and make the trip anyhow. We won't meet for lunch until 11:30 but I can look around town while I wait.

So...more even later...

I will be back later this afternoon to finish this. So..more later...

We had a nice visit at Chanute. About four of Gay's friends and her sister Adele came too. They will all come here next month and we can eat here at Kansas Buffet.

I got home about 3:00. All I got I the mail was the Journal.

I will not be eating anything the rest of the day. I am still full from lunch.

Missy was glad to see come home.

Back  later...

Bob dropped by for awhile before going over to Joanne's.  Later I took my bath and Missy and I watched Amazon again.

Missy and I went to bed at 9:00.

Friday and Exercises Again

I slept well last night again. There is something about having a nice warm cat right up against me that seems to help.

I got up about 5:00 and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I fed Missy both her treats and her dinner and changed her water.

I went ahead and cooked the chili for lunch and left it on #2 in the slow cooker.

Then I watched the CBS news until time to go to exercise class. Bob had called to see if he could bring Joanne to lunch. We are having chili. I told him that would be fine. I intend to give up cooking for the two of us. There are a lot of nice frozen meals out at Walmart and I will stock up on those.  I only eat one meal a day anyhow except for my oatmeal for breakfast. I am tired of cooking.

After exercise class, I went over to Utopia for Utopiachino and  a cinnamon roll. I visited with Karan and Darlene there. Then I went home to get the chili ready to be served and slice the cheese. .

After lunch and Bob and Joanne left, I worked on organizing my folders again in the afternoon. I also downloaded the updates on Firefox and Java.

I took the rest of the chili over to Marilyn Rutledge for her lunch.

More later....I want to go out to church and make copies of the Church School material.

From one of my friends' websites.

$5,900,000
given to Republicans in 2016 election cycle
$106,000
given to Democrats in 2016 election cycle

( by the NRA ) And we wonder why there is so much violence in today's world.

I am completely disgusted and I blame parents for much of the bad behavior of their children. I blame TV and movies for much of the violence. My teacher friends are all glad to be retired from teaching. They say the kids are impossible to control and teachers can’t do a thing to control them without parents calling and complaining and griping at them or threatening to sue them.

More later...

I got the copies made and am back home now.

I went out to Walmart and bought a week's worth of individual meals for a little over $8.00 plus tax. I know I can eat cheaper by eating by myself and I will just have to use the microwave.

I have checked my mail and my paper is probably here now. So I will go read it.

I watched the Amazon program again. This time it was Samuel Clemmons/Mark Twain story. It was very interesting. At 9:00, Missy and I went to bed.

More later....

Thursday and House Cleaning Day

I slept well again last night. It helps to have a nice warm kitty snuggled up against you. :)

I downloaded another free option from Amazon this morning. Now I can get some free audio books and even have Alexa read them to me. Neat! I couldn't download that audio app on my kindle because it is a Paperwhite Kindle and they are not compatible with that app.  But I can get it on my PC and even have Alexa read it to me.

I will begin my cleaning now and get back to this later. I am thinking of going to Chanute this afternoon and looking up the Catholic Church location where Tony's services will be held a week from Saturday.

More later...

Gay suggested coming Saturday at 11:30 and having lunch at Opie's. So I will do that.

More even later... I need to vacuum.

I got the vacuuming done except for my bedroom so as I finish this, I will get that done.

I learned today that Cox, my ISP, has limited bulk e-mails to ten. For twenty years, I have sent out 60 e-mails in a bulk e-mail when I contact my classmates. I have them all in a folder and just type in  "classmates" and they all get my messages. I send out news of classmates that pass away and then in January, I attach the class newsletter to the e-mail. Now they have put a new rule in place that only ten at a time can be sent and they may not allow the attachment. So, I deleted the "classmate" folder and have created 6 classmate folders with a number from 1 to 6 following the word "classmates"  I sent out a test and so far it has worked fine. I simply copy and paste the message in each e-mail. I hope this works. So far I have heard from one classmate.

Then.. I am not sure about the attachment either. I may have to send out hard copies to all of them as well as those who have no e-mail.

More later...

I got my bedroom vacuuming done this afternoon after Missy woke up. Later, I worked on doing the folders for the netbook computer.  I got that done finally, did the crossword puzzle and later took my bath and lay down with Missy and watched another episode of that Ken Burns series on Amazon.

We watched it until it was finished and then both Missy and I went to bed at 9:00.

Wednesday and Bingo

I slept very well last night. Missy has been cuddling up next to me and that additional warmth seems to have helped me sleep. Anyhow, this is very different behavior for her. She has never been a cuddlier. But now she is even laying on my lap as we lay on the sofa and watch TV every evening. Strange. I notice she only has one fang nowadays. Sometime she has lost her other fang. Poor kitty! I wonder how long she will, last. She has been getting more feeble this past year.

Anyhow, I got up close to 5:00, which is my regular wake up time. I dressed and got Missy her treats and breakfast and refilled her water dish. I fixed my breakfast and coffee and Chai and then checked my bank account. Sure enough my social security came in last night so I can now pay that huge electric bill tomorrow.

I heard from Gay in the night too. The services for Tony will be the 24th of March...a week from this Saturday. It will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Chanute. The visitation will be held at 9:00 AM until 10:00AM and the Rosary is at 10:15 and the Mass at 11:00. Their women will serve a dinner after the funeral.  I am not sure of Catholic protocol so I don't know whether I am to go to Rosary or not.  I definitely should go to the visitation to see Gay beforehand and the funeral Mass for sure.

I will attend exercise class this morning at 9:00. Afterward they will serve ice cream and cake to celebrate Doug's February birthday. In the afternoon, I will go to Bingo at 2:00 there at the senior center.

More later....

I did go to exercise class and afterward I did eat cake and ice cream.

But afterward I got busy with my March sermon and forgot the time and missed Bingo. Then I went out to Woodshed to get gas and they were completely out. I came back in to the Sunshine shop and they would not turn on the pump so I could get gas so I just went over to K & S Oil and bought my gas. I stopped over at Braum's and bought a small hamburger for my lunch. By then it was 3:30. What a mess. Soon the Reporter will be here.

Betty, my landlady, called to say they were going to fill the cracks in the driveway on Friday at 6:00 PM. She wanted to be sure I would not be leaving to go to church and drive through it.

More even later...

Well I read the newspaper, such as it was, and later took my bath and got myself ready for bed. Missy and I watched the news and then changed the Tivo to Amazon Prime and watched another episode of "American Lives" . This time it was Frank Lloyd Wright's life.  Ken Burns did these every interesting stories back in the 1990's.  I have also rented a movie from that site and even bought one. I have watched that every evening this week. Last night I lost my stream from the Tivo. I pulled it's plug and that rebooted it at last.  Then I was able to then get back to the antenna and CBS news. I can only get the three channels of CBS and if the weather is just right at night, I can get Fox too. But that's about all. I only watch the news with the antenna anyhow. Amazon Prime gives me a lot more entertainment options.

At 9:00 after Missy and I watched that episoode, we went to bed.

Tuesday and Hair Day

I slept well last night. I woke up once but got right back to bed and back to sleep. The next time I woke up it was 4:45 so I just got up and got myself ready for the day. Again, Missy had cuddled up next to me to sleep. It may be my heartbeat she likes or it could be that I am warm.

I will go to Independence this morning to get my hair done. I need a haircut badly. Bob will go with me to visit with his sister, Betty. Afterward we will eat at Big Cheese. When we get home I will try to see Marilyn and see what I can do with her computer problem.

Tomorrow is Bingo at the senior center.  It is also the day we celebrate February birthdays with ice cream and cake after exercise class.  (Kind of ruins the idea of exercising, doesn't it?)

I haven't heard any more from Gay about the time and place of the funeral for Tony on Saturday. I imagine she is very busy and possibly has lots of company.   She will eventually get back to me.

More later....

I heard from Gay. She is waiting to schedule the services when Father Mike can work that into his schedule. I will have to wait  to know until that happens.

I went to Brahms to buy milk and to the bank to get some more money.

Marilyn L. called me with a time to come to check out her computer problem. After I washed my car, I went over to check it out. For some reason, she was offline. I went into her WiFi settings and changed the "off" setting to "on" and she was back online. I stayed for a cup of tea and a cookie. We visited awhile and then I came on back home.to read the paper.

More even later....

I came back home and took my bath and got ready for bed. It was only a little after 6:00 by then but I lay down with Missy on the sofa and we watched TV until 7:00. Then I went back to Amazon Prime and watched the last episode of PBS's "Thomas Jefferson".  I missed it last night when I fell asleep during the show and woke up at almost 10:00. Then Missy and I just went to bed.

Monday and a Lost Sunday

I really lost Sunday. I awoke early after not having slept well at all. I made up my coffeecake and I picked up Phyllis F. and Bob A. for church and we enjoyed the service.

Rick and Carmen came after all. Rick had accidentally bit into a bone on Friday and broke off two teeth. He didn't know how that was going to work out so they didn't plan to be at church...but they came. He had bought some medication for pain..."just in case" he would need it. So far...so good. Today he will get into my dentist to get that taken care of. ...I hope.

Later Bob and Phyllis and Karan and Leslie and the little girls went to lunch with us at Pizza Hut so Leslie could come over and help me hook up the desktop computer. While I took Phyllis to her home and Bob to his, she got it hooked up all by herself. She also installed my latest Alexa product that lets Alexa turn on my lamp in the living room. I spent the rest of the day up until 10:00 PM last night configuring the desktop computer with Keith's most valuable help. I got all my favorites on my address line on Firefox and I put all the e-mail addresses in the address book that I had record of but could not figure out how to put those folders in the address book for "classmates" and "congregation".

I got hold of Cox this morning but Joe couldn't figure it out either. Maybe the version of Outlook on this desktop doesn't offer those folders. I don't know. I pestered Keith multiple times last night for help and I hate to even think about contacting him again. So when I want to send out information for either "classmates" or "congregation" I will just have to do it from the notebook computer.

After I went to bed at 10:00, I awoke at 3:00 and never was able to get back to sleep after that. I just got up at 4:30.

What a mess.

More later....I probably won't go to exercise class. I am pretty wiped out. I fed Missy and myself and dressed for the day. I did manage to get the Cox Care downloaded on the desktop computer. So with most things, they can help me. ...just not Outlook's address book.

More later...

My dear old friend, Gay's, husband, Tony, died at 3:00 AM this morning. They had a long time marriage and I know she will miss him terribly. He had been on dialysis for several years and was just worn out with it and wanted to come home to die. They called in hospice. Gay and I have been friends since she was 14 and I was 17. She is my oldest and dearest friend.  The funeral will be Saturday in Chanute and I will be going there to attend it. We have managed to stay in touch all these years. She is 79 now and I am 82.

I did end up going to exercise class  this morning,.

I fixed tuna noodle casserole for lunch and we had some of Marilyn's watergate salad too, I took Marilyn some tuna noodle casserole too. Bob and I will have it again on Wednesday.

After Bob left I went to the bank and also to the library. I had a sack full of empty ink cartridges to donate. They get $4.00 for each one redeemed.

Then I came home and  puttered around all afternoon.

Then in the evening, I took my bath early and laid down with Missy on the sofa to watch the rest of the program on Amazon about the life of Thomas Jefferson.

I woke up some time later and found the story of an architect on. It was after 9:30 so Missy and I went on to bed.
