Saturday and No Rain Yet

I slept well last night and was up a little before 5:00AM this morning. I have dressed and got myself ready for the day. I don't have anything but dusting on my platter today.

No cats came to eat this morning. None came last evening too. They are slowly disappearing.

And Dean was supposed to have gone to Texas to visit relatives this week and drop by here on his way home to take me to dinner and visit. A week or ten days ago, he went to the doctor with a bladder infection and I assumed the doctor gave him an antibiotic that would have cleared it up by now. Can you believe he didn't even give Dean an antibiotic? He went back in yesterday with another urine sample and it was still raging...duh! Of course. It wasn't treated! Those infections don't get well without treatment. Even I know that! Well, yesterday he finally gave Dean an antibiotic but Dean had to cancel his trip to Texas and he won't be dropping by to see me either. That's just medical incompetence...and dangerous too.

I had an e-mail from Sherry Epp this morning. She is our tour guide.  I hadn't heard from her after I sent her my money for our mystery tour. She hadn't even deposited my check. It was strange. Well, she had been in Topeka babysitting her two granddaughters and just got home to find all our registrations for the trip. She wanted to acknowledge them.

I will try to finish trimming today if it doesn't rain. The battery for the trimmer is charged. I may have to do some more raking by now. It depends on whether there was wind last night. I definitely will have to dust. And if it doesn't rain, I will have to water plants again. It's 72 degrees so far this morning and according to my phone it is clear in the forecast.

More later..I want to go check "the weather on the 8's" on TV.

I didn't catch the weather but I did go out and finish my trimming and sweeping off the mess. When I cool off, I will start dusting the apartment. It's only 77 degrees out there but I am sweaty.

I finally saw "the weather on the 8's" They took the rain out of the forecast with only a 20% chance of scattered showers today and only a 10% on Sunday. So I watered the flowers and plants too.

I got all the dusting done and am finished with my chores. So I guess I will read again.

I've been reading for a couple of hours  and it's 12:39PM now. I had a frozen meal for lunch and some of that sugarless punch. I just got a couple of political brochures in the mail...that's all. I am rested up now though...that's good. It's 84 degrees now. That's not bad. But I did go water the plants again.  The leaves on the plants in the new little flowerbed were looking a little wilted.

It's clouding up a bit now so there is a slight possibility we could  get some rain this afternoon.

So more even later...

I made a quick trip to Independence to see if I could find refills for Bob's Zebra's pens. Independence's Walmart didn't have any. I did get my variety pack of Oatmeal though and some more breakfast bars. I also bought some gel replacements for replacement ink for those Zebra pens. I imagine they will work.

I bought a blizzard while I was there...at their Dairy Queen. That certainly wasn't on my diet but I seldom buy one so I treated myself. Besides there aren't very many Dairy Queens left anymore. I will read until the 5:30PM CBS news comes on. After the news, I will take my bath at 7:00PM and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM usual.

P.S. I just saw the forecast  for next week. We have thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next week. I won't get the yard mowed if all that develops.

Wow!

Friday and No Dusting

I slept fairly well after I finally got to sleep. For some reason I was restless and my knees ached a little. Finally I got up and took a couple of Aleve and finally got to sleep. I was up shortly before 5:00AM and got myself ready for the day. I am having my breakfast and coffee now.

I heard thunder awhile ago. Rain was not forecast until tomorrow and I had hoped to get the yard mowed this evening. That will not happen if it rains today. It's also forecast for Sunday and Wednesday next week.

I will go turn on the TV and see what the forecast is now on the "weather on the 8's".

I finally got the "weather on the 8's" and sure enough we have a 90% chance of rain today. There will be no mowing today or tomorrow. In fact, it is forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday too. At least I won't have to water anything myself.

The only cat that  showed up for breakfast was Scruff. She ate her fill and I brought in the cat food and put it in the garage.

I went out to the front yard and raked up the leaves on it. I took my black yard bag out to the curb and loaded all the raked leaves into it. I wore plastic gloves to do that. I couldn't lift the bag so I turned over my trash cart and pulled it into that cart and then sat the cart up and pulled it over to my garage.

I ordered some more string for my trimmer. I still have three spools but I don't want to run out.

It still isn't raining so I may be able to have the yard mowed after all. It depends on the rest of the day. It's11:04AM right now. The mail program wasn't working on the laptop computer so I had Cox Complete Care download a tech on it and he got it working. He also found my activation number for this laptop but advised me not to use it because Microsoft might download Windows 10 on it and as long as Windows 7 is working just fine, he advised me to keep it. He did have me copy it down...just in case.Windows 10 is usually a problem.

I will warm up the rest of the meal I bought at the grocery market yesterday for my lunch today. I will wait awhile to eat though.

I ate shortly before noon and then called the school and took my school supplies over there and rang the bell. They came and collected them.

I got my mail and got a couple of bills and got them ready to mail out. I will take them up to the mailbox near the post office in a little while. It's almost 1:06PM now, I want to get it up there before 3:00PM when they pick it up mail from that box.

The sun is out now and then. I am not sure whether to have the yard mowed this evening or not.  I did set the solar kitty out there to get some rays.

More later...

I got my mail in the box in plenty of time. It's only 1:43PM

It's 3:00PM  now and Krystal just left. Two of her girls are working at the Sonic now and the other is not feeling well. So Krystal worked at the Bartlesville post office full time and then after she got off work, she mowed my yard.  It thundered several times but she got it done and done nicely too. I really appreciated it.

I swept up for her. I would have trimmed but the battery was down on my trimmer so it's on the charger now.

I will read now.

I read for awhile and then, at 6:20PM, I took my bath. It had been a hot and sweaty day...with raking leaves and trimming the yard until the battery went down. I will  finish that trimming and dust tomorrow. With all the yard work, I never did get to the dusting.

As soon as it begins to get dark, I need to bring in the solar kitty. I don't want it to get wet if it rains.

I will go back to my book until 9:00PM, when I plan to go to bed.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept well last night  but woke up twice ..once to turn up the temperature and once to go to the bathroom. In fact, I slept until 6:00AM, an oddity for me.

I am having my breakfast now and my coffee. In a little while I will go turn on the TV for the "weather on the 8's". Krystal's daughter wants to wait until Friday to mow  and I am hoping rain doesn't ruin that plan although I know the plants and flowers could use some good rain water instead of Caney's awful water.

It's 6:30AM now and I have just finished my breakfast and it's just now getting light out there. I should have got up earlier to see the meteor shower. I forgot about it until just now.

I will mop and vacuum the apartment today. That's my usual Thursday chore.

So more later...I want to go watch the weather.

According to the "weather on the 8's" we are forecast rain for both Saturday and Sunday and next Wednesday too. I hope Krystal's daughter can get the yard mowed before all that begins.

I got the flowers and the plants watered this morning. I deadheaded the flowerbed too.

It's 7:10AM and I am ready to begin to mop the bare floors.

I got the floors mopped and am ready to begin vacuuming as soon as a group of commercials begin. It's 7:40AM now.

It's 8:30AM now and I have finished vacuuming. I will dust after I rest awhile.

I cleaned up the hummingbird feeder and added more sugar water. I hope I got enough sugar in it. It's almost 9:00AM now. I must have because there is  a hummingbird drinking from it now.

More later....

I went to Dollar General to get refills for my two ball point pens and they didn't carry refills. I will have to get them at a Walmart the next time I am in a larger town.  Then I went to the Caney Market and bought bottled water, bananas  and lunch. It's a little early for lunch right now so I will have to warm it up in the microwave. It's only 10:54AM.

I ate my lunch at 11:30AM and read some more on my last book.

About midway through the afternoon, I went to the mailbox and mailed some bills off.

Then I watered the flowers and plants again since it was very hot and they were dry again. I ate a banana about 2:30PM and then I read some more until 4:30PM.

More later...

I watched the CBS news and then went back to my reading. About 7:00PM, I finished my last book and took my bath.

I looked out the front door and this is what I saw. It's 95 degrees out there but there is shade and there's fresh water out there too.

May be an image of cat, dog and indoor

This is the cat I call Blondie.  He is one of my neighbor's cats but he likes the shade of my doorway.

There's nothing I am interested in on TV so I will try to download another book or two or three. I like to get three at a time if possible. I brought the solar kitty in already.

At 9:00PM, I will go to bed.

Wednesday and Another Dental Appointment

I slept very well last night. In fact, I slept until 6:00AM which is unusual for me.  I am usually fully awake by 5:00AM. I am dressed and ready for the day. I will go to Coffeyville for my hair appointment at 9:00AM and then come back home for my dental appointment at 11:30AM.

I have had my breakfast....well I am working on my oatmeal now. I am hoping to be able  to watch the "weather on the 8's" this morning and get local weather. I don't know how we are supposed to get a local forecast when they give us nation wide weather instead on that segment

I need to water the flowers and plants before I leave this morning...and feed any cats that come for breakfast.

I plan to leave for my hair appointment at 8:30AM  and get back as soon as she is  finished. I don't want to miss another dental appointment.

I had better water now while there are no hummingbirds out there.

More later..

I got the flowers all watered and the one cat, Scruff, fed.  And it's  7:16AM. I still have plenty of time

What do you know! I actually got our weather on the 8's!  It looks like hot, hot, hot!

It's 7:30AM now. I have an hour before I leave for my hair appointment.

More later...

I got my hair done, bought gas and stopped for a cherry limeade slush at Sonic. I got back to Caney at 11:00AM, plenty of time before my 1130AM appointment with the dentist.

More later...I'd better get up there early today after yesterday's fiasco.
I was 15 minutes early but got a real good cleaning and exam.....and a good bill of health for my teeth and gums.

I stopped at Caney's Sonic and bought a child's Wacky Pack. They are on sale on Wednesdays for $1.99 plus tax,,,a total of  $2.18 for two pieces of chicken,   tater tots and a tiny coke. I can't beat it for a bargain and it's just right for lunch. I gave the car hop $3.25 and told her to keep the change.

Scott's school friend, Danny Daniels' wife, gives me my prophy. The woman dentist, Melissa Randell checked my teeth. No problems were found and my mouth was healthy. Doug Romig and Jim Henderson are getting together with Danny now that they are all retired.  Doug was an airline pilot....now retired.

It is 1:28PM now and I have had my small lunch. I will have an ice cream bar for dessert, I guess. Then I will get back to my latest book.

It's 4:35PM now and I have just finished the last of my latest three books.

I have been out picking up leaves from the front yard.... again. I have done the back yard twice today and the front twice too. I will try to find out which day Krystal's daughter will mow for me. I may not do it again. It's really too hot out there for that. I watched the CBS news.

Krystal's daughter is going to mow Friday evening.  I hope it doesn't rain that day.

Tomorrow is the day I clean the apartment and mop and vacuum. I do that during commercials on TV. I may do some laundry tomorrow too.

I took my bath at 7:00PM. I plan to go bed at 9:00PM as usual.

Tuesday and a Failed Dental Appointment

I slept pretty well last night and woke up only once and got up and turned up the air conditioning. It was too cold in the bedroom. I was up shortly before 5:00AM and got myself ready for the day. I have my annual prophy and exam at 11:15AM this morning here in Caney.

I am having my breakfast now and my coffee. It's almost 6:00AM now and I will go turn on the TV and watch the "weather on the 8's". I noticed last night they took the rain out of the weekend forecast.

Only Scruff came for breakfast this morning. She ate her fill and I brought the food in.

I then watered the plants and flowers.

I  wanted to watch the "weather on the 8's"  but instead they showed the entire country. I am not interested in the entire country's weather. I wanted to know the immediate area's weather...the local weather. I watched through 2 different "8's" but they never showed any local weather.

It's 7:15AM now.  So more later...

I have been going out while it's cool and picking up the leaves that blow over into my front yard. It's actually good exercise to bend over that way over and over again. And, it cleans up my yard. You can't beat that!

I missed my dental appointment. The First Christian Church secretary called me and I had a hard time getting away from her. Finally I just  had to tell her I had a dental appointment and I was late for it. She apologized and I called to see if it was too late to come and the receptionist checked and said yes, it was too late  today... but they had a cancellation for tomorrow at 11:30. I told her I would make that one. I get my hair colored and cut tomorrow but my hair appointment is at 9:00AM so I will have time enough to get back to the dental appointment after that.

More later...

The secretary told me they are waiting until at least September 7th to start their dinners again because of the Delta variant and she will call me about our week. They will have another business meeting  before then and she will call me and tell me if they are ready to start them again.

May be an image of indoor

This is the puzzle I finished this afternoon.  Then I went out to Eggbert's and had my usual once a week chicken salad and sweet iced tea.

I went out to the back yard and picked up another two dozen leaves that had blown into my back yard. More good exercise....It's 93 degrees now.

So I will go read awhile now and stay in. Back later...

It's 6:23PM now and at 7:00PM, I will take my bath before I get back to my book. In the meantime, I ought to water the plants again.  I missed the CBS evening news. I thought I had recorded it but I didn't.

I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM as usual.

It's nearly 9:00PM now and I am going on to bed. I have been reading for 2 1/2 hours and am tried.

Monday and Reading and a Puzzle

I slept fairly well last night. I woke up once and went to the bathroom. I got up shortly before 5:00AM this morning and dressed and got myself ready for the day and am eating my breakfast now. It's 5:40AM. I don't have plan for today except to water the flowers and feed any cats that come for breakfast. I will read and work on the puzzle. Nancy is undoubtedly really gone to North Carolina this time since I haven't heard anything to the contrary. So I won't be visiting her.

I need to call the Independence First Christian church after 9:30AM this morning and see if they are serving their dinners now. I haven't heard anything from them and we didn't last week either. We were supposed to begin baking our cakes for them again in August.

I also need to call David Hill's widow and see if I can pick up my grandmother's antique clock from her now. She was supposed to have had a man come to put it back together again last Tuesday but I haven't heard a word from her. I imagine I will have to call her even though she has my telephone number. I only have David's cell number...not hers.

I talked to Mrs. Hill. She had company last week and plans to have the clock reassembled  this week. She said she would let me know when I could pick it up.

But it's only 6:05AM now. It will have to wait until later. I will go turn on the TV and catch the "weather on the 8's". We are under a hot weather advisory  through Wednesday. ...all in the high 90's. Now they are forecasting extremely hot weather all through the week but rain on the weekend...both Saturday and Sunday.

I have watered the flowers and the flowerbeds and fed Blondie. Scruff hasn't  shown up this morning.

Now I will get back to watching the news. The hummingbirds are out there again...fighting and drinking that sugar water..

Leslie,my daughter, sent out a text to the congregation telling us that Chato Lyday, a young man who faithfully attended our congregation with his three young sons, had suddenly died. He was 44. He had moved away to Wyoming. He was not married and was raising  the boys all by himself. Luckily his parents were still living and he left a girl friend too. He was a wonderful father...very attentive to the boys.

I sent a sympathy card to the woman who was the contact person explaining how impressed the congregation had been with him and the boys and expressing our condolences. He evidently lived at the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. He was a Native American ...I believe from the Arapaho tribe.

I worked on the puzzle for a couple of hours this afternoon. I made some headway but not a lot.

More later..... I just heard from Dean. He had intended to go to Texas to visit relatives and then stop by on his way back to visit me. However, now he has found he has a bladder infection so his plans have changed. He will keep me informed of his plans.

More later..it's almost time for the CBS news.

I watered the flowers again. It is 91 degrees out there.

It's 7:18PM now and I have just finished my bath. I will read some more until bedtime at 9:00PM.

Sunday and online Church

I slept well last night and only woke up once to go to the bathroom. I was up at 5:00AM as usual. I am eating my breakfast now and drinking my coffee. I will watch the "Beyond the Walls " church service at 11:00AM. It comes out of Ontario, Canada and is one of our own church services. It reaches all around the world and utilizes people in the service from all around the world too. I find it very interesting although I miss the fellowship of our own people in our congregation. I know the two who lead that service personally. For several years they managed and handled the membership funds for the John Whitmer Historical Association and I belonged to that organization for 30 years and I attended when the meetings were in Independence, Missouri, the headquarters for our church. John and Michael were very good organizing those meetings.

I always met Ron Dawbarn and his wife, Joyce, there every other year when the meetings were there. Ron and I organized the meetings and were in charge one year a few years before he died. He had a very bad heart and that is what took him. Joyce was a few years older then he and I lost track of her after he died. I spent seven years working with him on a book he was writing on the origins of our church. I scanned documents for him. I don't know if he ever got it finished before he died. He was a very interesting person.

I got my breakfast finished and my dishes washed. I will go watch "the weather om the 8's" now and get back to this later. It's 6:35AM.

I looked out and it appears it rained last night.  I don't even think it was forecast. And Scruff was ehe only cat out there and I fed her.

More later..

According to the "weather on the 8's" we are supposed to get rain today too. It hasn't happened yet but it's forecast.

I am watching the Sunday morning Jane Pauly news now and also Face the Nation.

I was going to set the solar kitty out there but the hummingbirds are still out there having sugar water.

I finally got my flowers watered. I checked and they were dry after this hot morning so I watered them all.

The worship service will be on in 10 Minutes. The site is counting down now.

I watched the worship service and as usual, it was good.

I had my leftovers from yesterday's meal for my lunch. Then I watched a couple of programs I had recorded this morning and then I began working on my latest puzzle. It's a doozy!

I heard from Krystal this afternoon. One of the girls will mow for me this week. I told her I had been praying for them because I know how important family is. She agreed. She said it would work out with time and she agreed family is very important. I told her I would continue to pray for them and she thanked me.

It's 4:25PM now. In a little while I will read until time for the CBS news and then 60 Minutes. I think another pro golf game is going on now. There may not be a CBS news because of that. But there will be a 60 Minutes. I always watch that.

In a little while I will have my banana. I watched the 60 Minutes program and then played Free cell for awhile.

I went out front to water the flowers and noticed a lot of leaves back on my front yard. I got a plastic bag and picked them up again.

Then at 7:00PM, I took my bath.

I read until 8:30PM and while I was charging the battery on my Kindle...again, I came in here to work on the blog before I go to bed at 9:00PM. It's dark out now and 8:45PM. It won't be long until I go on to bed.
