Saturday and A Trip to the Market

I woke up somewhere between 3:00AM and 4:00AM with my left arm hurting terribly. I had hoped the shingles was on the mend but I guess not yet. I finally got up around 4:00AM and ate a muffin so I could take some Ibuprofen for the pain. It's 5:07AM now and I am dressed and have made my bed and got myself ready for the day.

I was up once in the night and took my two meds and also one of those meds for the shingles. I took another one just a little while ago. Now I will take some Vitamin B-12. Keith said that worked for him.

In a little while I will make some coffee and have a breakfast bar to have something in my stomach besides that muffin I had earlier with the Ibuprofen.

Now I will go turn on the TV and try to catch "the weather on the 8's" It's 5:15AM now.

Later I need to go to the Market and get some powdered sugar and hopefully, some flavored water..

I finally caught "the weather on the 8's" and it's not good. Today is to be 103 degrees and sunny, tomorrow  is to be 107 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 104 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 103 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 102 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 102 degrees and mostly sunny, and Friday is to be 102 degrees and mostly sunny.

That's the week and it will be a scorcher! Every day over 100 degrees.

It's 7:26AM and I have just finished my walk. I picked up a half a bag of trash and put my sack in my trash container when I got back home.

I guess I will go read now. I don't think I am up to cleaning today either. My left arm is very sore. I don't want to aggravate it.

I called Sally and we met at Gabby's downtown and had lunch. We both had chicken strips and potato salad. I had a coke and Sally had water.

Then she was taking a man that walked with  a walker to Coffeyville to help him buy some canvas shoes at Wal Mart. I came on home and will go back to my book.

The shingles have been sore all afternoon. I even took two more Ibuprofen. But that left armpit is still very tender.

It's 4:05PM and I just finished the book from the Caney library. Today I will take the one from the Caney library to their book drop. Tomorrow I will take the one from the Coffeyville library back to their book drop. I will read the ones that Denise gave me yesterday.

More Even Later...

Friday and No Apartment Cleaning

I slept pretty well last night. I think the shingles are a little better  I still woke up with pain in my left under arm but I took some Ibuprofen tablets with a cupcake and it has subsided now.

I fed Blondie and also caught "the weather on the 8's".

Today is to be 93 degrees and sunny, tomorrow is to be 103 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 106 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 103 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 101 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 100 degrees and  sunny, Thursday is to be 101 degrees and mostly sunny....again...no rain just terrible heat...as hot as 106 on Sunday.

I think Blondie is finished eating now and if so, I will bring in his food dish.

I took Blondie's dish in and cleaned it up and put it in the garage and covered it.

Then I took my walk. It's 7:51 AM now. I got very little trash this morning but what I did get, I put in my trash receptacle.

More Later...

I will go read awhile before I start my cleaning. I am a little concerned about using my left arm to vacuum and to move the chairs out from under the dining room table.. It's sore again. Not near as bad, but still sore.

More Even Later...

My son, Scott, just called me and talked to me for  thirty minutes. He was in his vehicle on the way to Gallatin to the gym to work out. We had a nice visit.

Then I called my daughter to find out the particulars of one of the people on our church prayer list. He wasn't expected to make it through the night last night. Leslie hadn't heard whether he did or not. LeeAnn will get back to her about the result If he did not, and we will take food to the church for the family.

I  called my niece, Denise, and asked her to go to lunch with me today. She was willing to do that. I picked her up and asked her if she would like to go to Independence to the Dairy Queen and she was glad to do that. It was something different. Usually we go to Eggbert's. So we drove to Independence and ate at the Dairy Queen there and had their great $7.00 special. The trouble was...she insisted on buying.  She said it was her turn.  She bought!

Then I drove us back home. We had a great visit and she sent me home with more books that had been read only once. After I read them I will donate them to our library to sell.

On top of that, I have had no pain in my left arm. I will wait until tomorrow to clean after all. Right now I have no pain in it at all and I don't want to test it today. I will clean tomorrow instead after I see what tomorrow brings...

Sally just called to ask me if I wanted to go to Bartlesville this evening for the play at Theater Bartlesville in downtown Bartlesville.

I told her I would and she will come pick me up at 6:00PM this evening.

Well that was short lived! I logged onto to Theater Bartlesville's web site and they had two names and telephone numbers to call to learn about the shows they had scheduled. They have all been cancelled indefinitely. I am so glad I called the Angela Cummings listed there or we would have made an unnecessary trip to Bartlesville tonight.

It's 95 degrees out there so it's probably just as well.

I took my bath shortly before 7:00PM and then I will read until bedtime at 9:00 PM when I plan to go to bed. I want to finish this library book from the Coffeyville library so I can return it Sunday in the book drop. I want to read those books Denise gave me today next. I won't get any more from the library until I do. It's 88 degrees outside now.

Thursday and A Trip to see Nancy

I will be going to Bartlesville this morning to visit Nancy. in her assisted living home.

I was up very early this morning...around 4:00AM. The pain in my shingles is intense.I too a couple of Ibuprofen tablets but so far not much improvement.

I caught "the weather on the 8's" on TV and will post the results here.

Today is to be  92 degrees and mostly sunny, tomorrow is to be 93 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 100 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 103 degrees and sunny, Monday is to be 91 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 99 degrees and sunny and Wednesday is to be 100 degrees and sunny. No rain this week. And we are desperate for rain here in Caney.

More Later...I will go see if Blondie is out front for his breakfast.

He was out there so I fed him both wet cat food and dry cat food. He always likes some of both. When he got his fill he left and I took the cat food dish back into the garage and covered it.

I am getting ready to take my walk now. It's 6:28AM.

About 9:30AM, I left for Bartlesville and to see Nancy. I washed my car first. And I also stopped at US Cellular and had them fix my phone so I could hear it better then just three little beeps. They got it fixed. That Okie car wash does an excellent job. I wiped down the car and vacuumed it out. Then I went to see Nancy. She was up and in her recliner although not dressed. I stayed an hour because it was her lunch time and I wanted her to get dressed for her lunch. I told her I would be back next Thursday.

Then I drove home.  On the way, I called Sally to see if she would like to have lunch. She was interested and I told her I could pick her up in twenty minutes. We decided to go back to Copan Restaurant and have their beef veggie soup. Then I decided to have a piece of German Chocolate pie and asked Sally to split it with me. That's what we did.

During lunch, Esther texted me and said Keith wanted to talk to me. I told her we were having lunch and she said to just text her when we were finished and it was convenient for me.  I took Sally home and then when I got home I texted Esther that was a good time. Keith then called and talked to me for quite awhile. It was sure good to hear his voice and also Esther's. He told me when he had it, he looked on the internet and learned that large doses of Vitamin B 12 was a good remedy for shingles. The time he had them they only lasted three days. So I went out to Dollar General and bought a bottle of 60. I figured it couldn't hurt anything to try it. Then I took some of it and two more pain killers with a cupcake. That was Ibuprofen.

Then I went back to my book. More Even Later...

I just can't seem to get out of pain from these shingles. I have taken four pain relievers altogether and nothing seems to help. The ones around my left armpit seem to be the worst. None of the others seem to be anywhere near as bad as those in my left armpit. I guess I will just have to tough it out.  I have tried Aleve and also Ibuprofen.

I think I will take my bath even though it's only 6:13PM. Maybe if I get out of my bra and into some comfortable pajamas, the left armpit will feel better.

Then I will read until bed time,

Wednesday and Bunco

I slept fairly well last night until about 4:00AM when I awoke in bad pain again. I  couldn't get back to sleep so about 4:45AM I just got up. I made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. About 5:00AM, I ate something so I could take an Aleve for the pain. I am now drinking my coffee. I had a small piece of coffeecake just to get something in my stomach.

When I got in the living room, it was just in time to catch "the weather on the 8's" on TV. I haven't checked for Blondie yet.

Today is to be 87 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 94 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday is to be 93 degrees and sunny, Saturday is to be 102 degrees and sunny, Sunday is to be 102 degrees and sunny and Monday is to be 99 degrees and sunny. Tuesday is to be 98 degrees and mostly sunny....no rain this week! Just lots of hot weather.

I'd better go check on Blondie now. He will be hungry if he is out there.

So More Later...

Blondie was out there and so I fed him both wet cat food and dry cat food. After he ate and left.. I brought the cat food into the garage and covered it.

Then I took my mile walk. And after that, at 8:00AM I left for Coffeyville and my hair appointment. That was at 9:00AM. Then after that I went to the library in Coffeyville and read until time to go to the senior center for Bunco.

I got back home at 4:00PM and I am not sure if my mower, Mike,  came today. In places it looks like he did but in other places, it looks like he didn't.

I may mow the front after it gets cooler tomorrow morning if it looks like he didn't mow. He doesn't mow it as close at my mower does. So I can't tell.

And I will need to go get gas before I can do that.

It's almost 7:00PM and I just took my bath, took the old band aids off my knees, put some more antibiotic ointment on them and fresh band aids too. I will go back to the book I checked out at the Coffeyville library this morning and read until bedtime at 9:00PM.

Tuesday and Cookies

I slept well last night and was only up once in the night to take not only my two regular meds but also two of my shingles meds. I already feel better. I took five of those meds yesterday as instructed and have already taken two this morning. I will space the others out over the day. I caught Blondie waiting for me to open the front door and fed him both the wet cat food and the dry cat food and he ate some of both and was evidently filled up and left. Soon I will take the cat food back out to the garage and cover it.

I also caught "the weather on the 8's". Today is to be 84 degrees and sunny, tomorrow is to be 87 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 93 degrees and mostly sunny and  Friday is to be 96 degrees and sunny and Saturday is to be 101 degrees and  sunny, and Sunday is to be 102 degrees and sunny and Monday is to be 100 degrees and sunny. Another very hot week. At lest this week I will have well working air conditioning.

I will go over to our church after a while and pick up Karan's cookies for the First Christian Church in Independence. I will stop at the market across the street from their church and buy mine and Billie Jo's and Mike's to take over to the church. They gave me money for theirs.

I have had my coffee and am working on my Chai Latte and also already had a breakfast bar for my breakfast.

More Later....

Both Denise, my niece, and Leslie, my  daughter, checked on me this morning and I was pleased to be able to report I feel much better this morning. My shingles aren't painful and even my knees are better. They still need bandages but they are not painful. That's a blessing! As Leslie just said, "miracles still happen".

I just finished my walk and picked up a full sack of trash and will go over to the church about 8:30AM and pick up Karan's cookies and go to the market at Independence across from that Christian Church  there and get mine and Mike's and Billie Jo's.

I will find out from the pastor there when we will need cookies again.

So, More Later...

We won't need cookies for two weeks according to the pastor there at the Independence First Christian Church. I got the ones we had delivered and came on back home after I stopped at their Miller Brother's station for gas. I also stopped at the Caney Market and bought flavored water and some donuts for tomorrow's Bunco game treats at the senior center in Coffeyville. It's 10:08AM now. I think I will read  until lunch time. Then I will call Sally and see if she wants to go to lunch at Copan or even back to Independence's Dairy Queen for their $7.00 special.

More Later...

I did call Sally and we did go up to the Dairy Queen in Independence and had their $7.00 dinner special. Then I took her home after we had a real good visit.

Then I came home and read most of the afternoon. I also watched the 5:00PM news on CBS.

About 6:50PM, I took my bath and put my pajamas on.

I will read until bedtime at 7:30PM.

Monday and Rain

I slept pretty well until 2:00AM when the storm began. Then I noticed the breaking out on my arm and chest was spreading to my back and I woke up and got up and checked it out. I believe it is shingles. I had shingles once before in 1981 and it felt like this...it stings and feels gaulded.  I am going to have to go see urgent care in the morning. Unfortunately the weather is in the middle of a thunderstorm right now here. I don't know whether it will be continuing as I try to drive over to Coffeyville to the doctor's office later this morning. I hate to get out in this storm. But the past three days this terrible rash has just got worse. I had not recognized it as shingles before this. I am pretty sure that is what this is. It is going to have to have medication of some kind. I have been putting antibiotic ointment on it but that has not helped at all.

Always something!

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" and took a photo of it. Today is to be 83 degrees and partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be 83 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 86 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 94 degrees and sunny, Friday is to be 97 degrees and sunny,  Saturday is to be 100 degrees and sunny and Sunday is to be 101 degrees and sunny. That's it..plenty hot especially in the last of the week when it will be in the 100's.

More Later...

Leslie came over and visited awhile after she went to the bank..She had Mini and KiKi with her and they enjoyed browsing around my apartment. Then Leslie let them out in the back yard. Then they all left.

I did go over to Urgent Care and it's a good thing I did. I do have shingles. No wonder it woke me up at 2:00AM this morning. My left arm was hurting and it woke me up. I have a blotch of it in my left armpit and one on my back and one on my front. Aggravatingly enough!

More Even Later...

I ended up just going to Eggbert's and having a sandwich and sweet iced tea. Then I stopped by Mr. G's and had a small butter pecan flurry. That was my dessert.

Then I came home and the air conditioning man called and came by. He added a half pound of Freon to the air conditioner unit and changed the batteries in the thermostat in the hall. They said "low". He also checked out the furnace. After he finished, it seemed to be working fine. I set it on 75 degrees. That doesn't seem to be  a problem for it.

I have been reading ever since he left. It's 3:50PM now.

More Later...

I took two regular aspirin for the pain in my left arm. That didn't touch it.  So I went out to Dollar General and bought some Aleve.  On my way out of the store, I tripped over the little rise at the store's  doorway and fell right on my knees. Luckily, two people came right out and helped me back to my feet. One of them was the younger son of one of my old Caney friends, Sylvia Hill. Her younger son was Don Hill.  He helped me up and helped me to my car. It bloodied both of my knees. Again! That happened last fall at the Caney Market and they almost never healed. And they have been weak ever since. Now they are bandaged again with bandaids.

It's always something!

It's 6:16PM now.

Sunday and Church

I slept fairly well last night but was up about thirty minutes earlier then usual. I guess I was a little restless. I forgot to get coffee cake mix this week and I had a blueberry muffin mix so I put it together and in the oven. It's done now and cooling. I don't know how it will go over for the breakfast at church. We will see.

Blondie came for his breakfast this morning and ate his fill of both the wet cat food and the dry cat food. He has left now. I brought what was left of his food into the kitchen.  I will put it away as soon as I am finished with this part of the blog.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" and the week looks hot and dry. Today is to be 91 degrees and AM clouds and PM sun. Tomorrow is to be 83 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 83 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 88 degree and sunny, Thursday is to be 93 degrees and sunny Friday is to be 93 degrees and sunny and Saturday is to be 101 degrees and sunny. It looks like a scorcher alright...especially Saturday.

More Later...

I took my walk this morning and just got back at 7:28AM.  I got some trash but not a lot today. I put it in my dumpster.

Then I texted Esther so she would know I am alright. Leslie and John are gone for the weekend. They will be back today sometime.

The muffins are done and have cooled.

I am still wondering if Mike will be mowing for me again on Wednesday.  I know I wouldn't be up to mowing in 101 degree weather. Of course, that's a Saturday forecast.  But I may have to call Krystal and see if she would do it again for me if Mike doesn't.

I need a few things from Dollar General so I may go over to Coffeyville a little earlier if ours isn't open yet. It's only 7:37AM here.

I did go over to Coffeyville a little earlier and first I went to the bank and got the $50.00  for my week's expenses.  Then I went out to Wal Mart there and bought the few things I needed. After that I went out to the church and swept off the front walk which was full of grass and then put my muffins in the kitchen.

Melissa had a very good sermon this morning...very impressive. It was taken from Matthew and about Jesus walking on the water and encouraging his disciples to have faith in him...enough faith to get out of the boat and join him. The way she presented it was very impressive!

I will read this afternoon again and later do my letters for those who are not there today. We had a pretty good attendance this morning.

More Even Later...
