Saturday and Breakfast

This morning Bob and I will go up to Eggberts for breakfast. We do that on Saturday mornings.  Later today I will do some cleaning. I need to vacuum again. It's something to stay ahead of Missy's shedding.

I slept well last night. In fact, I slept through the night.  I must remember to take my blood pressure med this morning. I went off and forgot them when we went to Branson so it's been two days since I've had them.

I'm not sure what today will bring.  I want to write a letter to the property manager and send her letter back unsigned.  I am not agreeing to her list of proposals. I will try to get that in the mail today.

I got my letter ready to be mailed and ran it by Marilyn and Bob. Marilyn made a minor change and I now have it out on the mailbox for the mailman to pick up this afternoon.  I hope it does what I hope it will.  I sent her letter back unsigned. Marilyn has a letter ready to be mailed herself and is sending her property manager's letter back unsigned too.

We'll see what happens.

We  are having tuna croquettes for lunch today with potato and veggie. Bob will bring a salad.  I have chocolate pudding and peanut butter cookies for dessert.

More later...

Lunch was good. Afterward I spent the afternoon reading. I am watching the news now. There are football games everywhere.   I have looked everywhere for the news. Not there is any good news anymore.

Back From Branson

We are back from Branson now.  We left Thursday at 6:00 AM, stopped at Joplin for breakfast and went on to Silver Dollar  City where we saw two different music shows. That evening we saw Liverpool Legends. It was a little disappointing. We stayed overnight and this morning we went to the Branson Landing and walked around for awhile. Then we went downtown and walked around. We left around noon to come back to Coffeyville.  We stopped at Crackerbarrel for a late lunch. I took one bite of my meat and realized it had a bad taste and odor. We left it and reported it to the manager. They only charged us for the tea drinks and veggies. I had a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the afternoon.

We stopped at Braums and I bought milk and we both bought ice cream.

When I got home I ate a cookie and that helped a lot. I got that bad taste out of my mouth.

I cleaned up after Missy after I unpacked and put everything away.

When Bob came over we had cookies and ice cream.

I heard from Aime while I was in Branson.  She has sent my resume' to the library and they should be calling me next week for an interview. I would be interested in that position. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this time and not counting on it .  I will have to tell them I am registered for the Peace Colloquy Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  I will offer to work another half day to make up for the lost Friday.

Doctor's Appointment

Today is my doctor's appointment in Joplin. It's at 9:40. We will leave at 8:00 this morning. Leslie couldn't go so Bob is going with me.  Afterward we will eat at Olive Garden and walk the mall.  After we get home I may attend the PINCH meeting if I'm not too tired. It's at 5:30 this evening.

I slept well last night. I awoke at 3:00 and went to the bathroom and took my med for thyroid.  Then I went back to bed and back to sleep. I finally got up at my usual 5:00. I ate my last biscuit and had two cups of coffee. Same old stuff. :)

We leave in about 45 minutes so I'll get back to this later this afternoon.

More later....

My doctor was very happy about the outcome of my eyelid surgery. I don't have to go back.

Later Bob and I went to the mall and walked around then went back to Olive Garden and ate lunch. It was good...as usual.

When I got home and checked the mail, I had a bad surprise. We all had a letter from the property manager telling us a whole lot of new rules.  One of them was "NO PETS". I called the owner over this and bypassed the property manager altogether. I just told her I had no idea what I would do with Missy. I have had her11 years. I was given permission to have her by the previous owner.  She didn't make a mess and always used her litter box, which I kept cleaned out.

The manager also had said in the letter that we would be responsible to mow and trim every 12 days and also if we needed a plumber, we were expected to call one and pay for the repairs. There were a whole lot of other new regulations.

Of course we are already paying $25 more rent the new owner bought the property and we're going to have another $25 raise in January and we're already taking care of our own TV cost too. She gave up the business account. I just told told the new owner that her the rent raise and the TV cost amounted to almost $100 extra money each month out of our pockets and none of us had those kind of resources. We were all chipping away at our meager savings now.

I told her we kept her property clean and neat and she wouldn't be able to be guaranteed that from other new renters. I told her that Marilyn had had to buy a new supplement for her Medicare and give up her quilting and Jeannie's granddaughter paid a woman to clean her apartment every two weeks and she did that thoroughly.  I told her I took care of my apartment just as I had my own home.  I even created two flower beds that I cared for constantly.

Finally she told me that we here in the fourplex were all grandfathered in and not to worry about the regulations. They were aimed at the neighbors across the street who tried to move another couple in with them and had bought a puppy they had not had when they moved in.  They also do not mow.

She had checked around about the huge insurance premium bill and found a better and lower rate. So she had decided she was not going to raise the rent the second $25 after all.  I am hoping she stays with that decision. She is going to talk to the property manager about that.

Then she said she had heard Bob was going to move. Sycamore Landing, where he has applied called her to find out how well he paid his rent and if he kept the property clean. They were told he did well. She wondered if he was going to move.  I told her he was going through his savings too. He had less income then I do and his mother had lived into her 90's.  His rent at the Landing would be over $150 a month less then here at the fourplex. So he feels he must move to the cheaper lodgings.

I hope I have managed to convince her that we simply cannot handle more rent and we are doing the best we can to keep her property nice.  I don't have to decide what to do about Missy. I can keep her.

I told the other renters about my conversation with the owner.  Marilyn had stood and listened to my side of the conversation and I was glad. That way the owner could not say I said anything I did not. I had a witness to my end of the conversation.

Bob came over for TV and a cookie. I had him walk over to Braums and I bought us both an ice cream cone.  Later he went on home and I got ready for bed. We leave at 6:00 tomorrow for Branson.  This will be our last trip there.  Neither of us can afford to go anymore.

Tuesday Cake Day

I leave at 8:00 to take the cakes up to Independence to the First Christian Church. I'll get my hair shampooed first at 8:30.

I had intended to take Juanita to Bartlesville today to eat at Dink's but I will need to check with her before I go to Independence because I also told Bob we were going to have spaghetti for lunch today.  I had temporarily forgotten about my conversation with Juanita. Bob may have to be on his own today after all.

I slept very well last night and didn't get up until 5:30. I had woke up at 3:00 and gone to the bathroom and then got right back to sleep.  Being under the weather yesterday morning and up several times in the night must have helped me to sleep last night.

We plan to go to Joplin tomorrow for my appointment with Dr. Shagetts, who did my eye lid surgery in May.  We will eat at Olive Garden and walk the mall afterward. Then tomorrow evening I have to attend the city commission meeting downtown.  I have asked to be appointed to the committee to advise the city on the renovations they are doing to the city's buildings. There are 15 of us who have applied  and I am the only woman. They are only going to appoint 7 so I seriously doubt they will appoint me.  But I have to go to explain why I would like to serve.

Then Thursday, we plan to go to Branson  for a day and a half. We would come back home on Friday afternoon.

More later....

I went to the city commission meeting last night hoping to be appointed to a committee to oversee the renovations of the city buildings. After I heard the presentations of the other nominees, I was glad I didn't get appointed. Most of them had special skills in building and were a lot more qualified then I am. There were 17 nominees.  They chose 7.

I got home after 9:00, took my bath and went to bed.

Monday Again

I was up in the night with a stomach problem last night so I'm not sure I will make exercise class this morning.  For one thing, I don't believe we should take a chance on exposing others  to something we may be carrying.  I'll see how this morning goes before I make up my mind.

Last night we decided to start over again with our studies.  We began years ago with "Saving Jesus" and we are going to go back to that first Living the Questions study.  The next meeting will be at Marilyn's and she leaves tomorrow to fly to the state of Washington to visit with her daughter, Lori. She will be back on the 30th. So the following Sunday evening, she will host the group.

More later....

I skipped exercise class and laid around this morning. But at noon I decided to fix dinner after all. Bob went to get me some Pepto-Bismol  and I took a dose of it and began to feel better.  I fixed my chicken tenders and mashed potatoes and gravy with the Asparagus Marilyn brought me last night.  Bob brought a salad and we had some of the pineapple upside down cake for dessert.

This afternoon I will bake my cake for the Christian Church for tomorrow. I will let it cool before I ice it.

Well, I got it baked and it's cooling now. Phyllis brought hers and Bobby brought Karan's.  Mine is ready to frost. I assume Bob got his baked and will frost it in the morning.

More even later.....

Bob came over for wine and we watched The Big Bang Theory and both agreed they must have chnaged writers and it's not near as funny. He went home half way through the new program and I took my bath and tried to stay up later but about 8:00 Missy and I went to bed.

Sunday and Church

I will go to church this morning and afterward go out to eat with some of the congregation.  After that, I will come home and do my letters. Tomorrow is Columbus Day and there will be no mail. So those that go out in the snail mail will get theirs one day later.

Then I will bake my pineapple upside down cake for the Living the Questions group tonight.  It will be a big day.

In fact, this will be a big week. Tomorrow is free except for baking a cake for the Christian Church in Independence. I will take those from Coffeyville up on Tuesday and just before that, get my hair done up there at 8:30.  Then Tuesday evening I need to attend the city commission meeting at 6:30.  I applied to be one of  the people  chosen to serve on the Municipal Facilities Renovation Advisory Panel for the city. I am the only woman who applied out of fifteen applicants so I don't expect to be chosen but I have to appear at the meeting and explain why I want to serve.

Wednesday I have a 9:40 appointment with Dr. Shagets in Joplin. Later that evening at 5:30 I should attend the PINCH meeting. Paul went to the trouble to e-mail me about it.

Bob and I want to go to Branson on Thursday and Friday but we'll have to wait to see what the weather will be like.  Mission Center Conference is that Saturday and I may not attend since it's 2 1/2 hours away and begins at 9:00. I would have to leave very early to make it and I won't want to go alone.  Leslie can't go. She's on call that weekend.

The following Friday, Saturday and Sunday (24th, 25th and 26th) Leslie and I will be gone to the Peace Colloquy in Independence, Missouri.

More later....

4:30. I have just taken the Pineapple Upside Down cake out of the oven and turned it upside down. It looks good. I saw Bob leaving home and called to ask him to pick up some ice cream for tonight too. I will pay him back when he brings  it over.

I've heard from Keith and Joyce and Marilyn. Bob knows about it. I hope Bobby and Karan haven't forgotten.

There were only six of us. Mona and her family couldn't make it. We had a good time though. The pineapple upside down cake was good too.
