Saturday and Very Cold

I was up at 4:00AM this morning...just couldn't stay asleep. I got up to catch the weather forecast. It took awhile and I had my breakfast bar and Chai Latte. I checked for the cats but it was way too cold for them to be out. They must have found shelter somewhere...perhaps under a house.  I have checked several times out the front door.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" and here it is for the next week.

Today is to be 23 degrees and mostly sunny, tomorrow is to be 37 degrees and mostly cloudy, Monday is to be 38 degrees and rain and freezing rain. Tuesday is to be 47 degrees and AM fog and PM clouds, Wednesday is to be 45 degrees and showers, Thursday  is to be 49 degrees and AM showers, Friday is to be 47 degrees and cloudy. That's the week and a couple of days or three of rain showers. We certainly need the rain.

I will check again for the cats...

The little grey cat was out there and I took it out a bowl of food. It ate the dry food and left the wet. It evidently prefers dry food.

More Later... It's gone now and the wet food is still out there. None of the other cats are coming out in this cold. It's 5 degrees F..the computer says and it's a record low.

More Later...

I went to Coffeyville to get gas and also to wash my car. The car washes were all closed and had cones setting in front of them so that didn't work out. I went to Walmart to get some other things I was out of and then came on back home. I was going to wash my car but since all the car washes were closed and even had cones in front of them, that was a waste of time.

I picked up Sally and we ate at Joyce's restaurant (Gabbies) with half a dozen other people. After I took her home I read some more on the second book I had checked out. At 7:00PM I took my bath and put my pajamas on and read some more.  It's almost 8:00PM now and I contacted Cox Complete Care and had a woman download herself on my computer and get my Outlook fixed and my Cox passwords changed. Then I was able to read all my week long Outlook e-mail.

I read on the e-mail that the world church did  appoint another president for the church. Steve Veasey had to give it up because of  a serious health problem. Stassi Cramm was called as prophet-president designate to replace him.

Friday and Laundry

I slept well last night and was up at 5:00AM, changed my bedding and did a load of sheets and underwear and dried it and put it away. I am eating my breakfast bar and drinking my Chai Latte now. The little grey cat came for it's breakfast and I fed it both wet and dry food and it is out  there eating now. It's the only one there right now although I did put both bowls of food out there.

I also caught "the weather on the 8's" on the TV.

Here it is:

Today is to be 21 degrees and partly cloudy and windy,  tomorrow is to be 25 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 30 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 37 degrees and ice to rain, Tuesday is to be 46 degrees and showers, Wednesday is to be 47 degrees and cloudy, and Thursday is to be 48 degrees and showers. So it looks like we will get some rain next week. That's good...we need it badly!

More Later....

The little grey cat is gone now. It ate it's fill and left and no other cats are out there yet. It's 7 degrees now so I can understand that.

I have been reading all day after I had lunch at Copan.

My Cox January bill hasn't posted yet on my bank statement. It's usually about the 15th  and this is the 19th and it's not on the statement yet.

I got hold of Megan at Cox Communications and she arranged for me to get a paper bill every month.

Now I will see if that happens.

More Later...

At 7:00PM, I took my bath and read some more afterward.  Then I prepared to go on to bed.Usually I like to wait until 9:00PM but I am very tired for some reason. I am going to take my Melatonin and go on to bed.

Thursday and No 2nd Life iIsurance Policy

I never did find the second life insurance policy. I went through the entire file cabinet last night and today again. I do have the numbers of both of them from paperwork in the past. I just couldn't find the actual second policy.

And I never did decide whether the problem in the den is the power strip or the actual plug. There's an awful lot plugged into the power strip.

It's 6:15AM now and I guess I will get dressed.  I will get back to this later.

I did get dressed and caught not only the grey cat and fed it but also the "weather on the 8's" for the next week.

Here it is..

Today is to be 42 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be  24 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 25 degrees and mostly cloudy, Sunday is to be 36 degrees and cloudy, Monday is to be 40 degrees and ice to rain, Tuesday is to be 47 degrees and showers, Wednesday is to be 49 degrees and showers.  That's the week! Two days of rain and one of ice to rain. That's good moisture!

We can sure use the moisture!

More Later...

Leslie and John came in about noon and John tried to ascertain if the power outage was due to the plug on the den wall or was in the box in the garage. I texted Stephen and he will come check it out after he gets off work at 5:00-5:30. I have had the problem with the washer twice in the past. The washer would not start and I tried what one of the women who reads my blog suggested. She said to find the fuse area where the washer was listed and switch the switch off and then switch it back on and go try the washer again. I did that and both times that worked.

That's strange... but both times it worked so I always try to try whatever works. I had nothing to lose.

John got the mower started and I let it run until it ran out of gas. He said that was important to do after the mowing season is over. Then I put it back in the garage.

Leslie talked to the Prudential people on the phone and they are going to send me a paper to fill out and send back to them. This will let me use the dividends from my Prudential Life Insurance to pay off the loan on the policy instead of giving me additional life insurance. The life insurance will be paid up when I turn 90 in two years anyhow  (if I live that long) and if I don't, I still have the amount of the life insurance for the kids to use to cremate me. And there will be no debt against it.

Stephen, my landlord, came about the loss of power in the den. It took him all of ten minutes to find the problem. I think he called it a  ground fault interrupter..or something similar to that. It looked like a light plug and there was a little place where a tiny lever of a sort had popped out right in the middle and he knew right where it was. He pushed it back in and I was back in business. He had had to find his in his apartment and it was in the same place as it was in his ...in his apartment's garage. There is one by my Keurig in the kitchen too...anywhere near the sink...and water.. he said that was to keep anyone from being electrocuted.

More Tomorrow... I am so glad to have everything back where it belongs.

Wednesday and a broken desktop computer

I came in the den this morning and found the desktop computer had crashed. Nothing I did got it up again. I even went to the garage to check the fuse box.   I couldn't see anything there either. It might be the power strip instead of the  plug.

Finally I went to Coffeyville for my hair appointment, groceries and gas,   Later I came back home after I had stopped at Eggbert's there and had their fruit parfait  for my lunch. As always, it was very good!

I did remember about the Oroco backup Keith gave me and it has a lot on it. I found the classmate's list on it . Finally I brought the laptop in the living room and plugged it in a wall plug there and now at least I can do my blog. I am not able to access my e-mail with Outlook though for some strange reason.

I will try again later.

Tuesday and More Snow

I slept poorly last night. I woke up at 3:00AM and could not get back to sleep. Finally I got up and went to the living room and read my second book until I finished it. Then I went back to bed and back to sleep. I slept until 6:00AM this time. Evidently reading helped he get back to sleep.

I opened the front door and saw the little grey cat waiting for it's breakfast. I took out both bowls with both dry and wet cat food. That cat ate until it was full and then left. I left the food that was left out there for another cat. So far no others have braved the cold. Its minus 4 degrees right now and clear.

We are also under a severe weather alert here in Caney.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's".

Today is to be 23 degrees and sunny, tomorrow is to be 40 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 41 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be  22 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 25 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 38 degrees and mostly cloudy, and Monday is to be 42 degrees and showers.  That's one day of rain on Monday. That's not enough but better then nothing at all.

I drove up to the library and put my two books in the book drop there. Then I texted Denise and Diana, my nieces. She and her sister are speaking again.  Thank God! We only have one family. We shouldn't alienate ourselves from them.

It's 3 degrees below zero now here in Caney. I would like to drive down to Copan for lunch. I would like to ask Sally to go with me. It's only six miles...closer then either Coffeyville or Independence. Coffeyville is 12 miles and Independence is 22 miles,

I see it's a little warmer now.... but far from warm.

More Even Later...

I called Sally and we are going to go down to Copan for lunch.  I will pick her up at noon. Then after I take her home, I will stop at the Caney library and get a couple more books to read. Unfortunately that was a waste of time. The library was closed..because of the snow and the school was closed. So the library was closed too.

More Later...

Monday and Laundry

I was up just before 5:00AM and made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I am doing laundry this morning...mainly towels and underwear. I haven't checked on the cats yet. I put my laundry in the washer and pushed start. Nothing happened. Then I remembered a couple of years ago the same thing happened and  one of the people who reads my blog told me what to do. I went to the garage and pushed the "washer" tab in the box with the fuses and then came back in the house and tried "start" again and it worked.

I did see "the  weather on the 8's" on TV. and here it is: Today is to be 12 degrees and snow showers, tomorrow is to be 24 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 39 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 43 degrees and partly cloudy Friday is to  be 22 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 29 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday is to be 37 degrees and mostly cloudy. That;s the week! Today's snow showers are all the precipitation we are to get this week. We still need a lot more moisture!

More Later...

I read until 11:15AM and then went to the Dollar General and bought some groceries....including some Edy's Butter Pecan ice cream.

I didn't think I wanted to drive down to Copan for lunch in this snow so I bought myself a treat!

Sunday and no Church

I was up at 4:00AM this morning after a fairly restless night. I got up twice in the night to go to the bathroom and also take my two meds. I made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I fixed myself some Chai and a breakfast bar for my breakfast. I opened the back door and tried to look out into the black night. I didn't see any snow yet but I did hear what sounded like sleet. I will just have to wait and see. Snow is forecast for today and they cancelled church since our church is in the country and at least 15 miles from any of us. It would be treacherous if the snow and ice develops. I will just stay in and read. Surely no cats will come out in this weather. It is  -1 degrees F this morning according to the computer. But it also says it is clear out. I will just have to wait and see what develops.

More Later...

I didn't catch a cat yet. It's way too cold for them to be out there.  But I did catch "the weather on the 8's".

Today is to be 5 degrees and snow, tomorrow is to be 15 degrees cloudy, Tuesday is to be 24 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 39 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be  42 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 23 degrees and partly cloudy, Saturday is to be 29 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the week. One day of snow and no other moisture.

The little grey cat finally came for breakfast/lunch and I fed it and it ate it's fill and went to try to find shelter from the snow. It's 12:03PM.  And the temperature is 3"F.  Yes, the snow is falling now.

I finished the first book I got at the library.  Then I started the second one. I got tired of reading and opened the front door to see how the snow was doing. The little snow white cat had been there looking for food and I took some out to her and she soon came back to eat. There's about an inch or so of snow. It's  4"F degrees out there. I will go check on the cat.

I took my trash out to the receptacle and soon Blondie came to eat next. I took some dry cat food out first and then I took out some of the wet cat food in the the new cat dish. He is eating that now.

More Later

I got my snow shovel and started scraping the driveways. I got quite a bit of it done before I played out. I read some more before I took my bath at 7:00PM. I put my pajamas on and will read until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.
