Saturday

Today should be a quiet day. I have already fed the animals and taken Slinky for a walk.

Leslie was supposed to have come over but I haven't heard anything out of her yet. She wanted to go through Bob's tools and see what Jeromy could use. I went through them day before yesterday and took what I thought I might need and put them in a new toolbox I bought last week.

I went to the antique mall after they opened at 10:00 and browsed around. I didn't see anything unusual or anything i couldn't live without.

I worked on my computer all afternoon trying to fix the dreaded blue screen. It remains to be seen whether what I ended up doing fixed it or not.

I couldn't figure out what I wanted for lunch/dinner so I just got a milk shake. Nothing really sounds good anymore.

Lunch On Friday

My brother-in-law called this morning and asked me to have breakfast with him so I did. He had been to see my sister yesterday and she raked him over the coals and made him depressed. He realizes that that is the Alzheimers talking but he still feels bad when she accuses him of "trying to get rid of her". I felt so sorry for him.

Later this morning I will go to Cherryvale and have lunch with Gay. First I will go to Independence and pick up a blouse I saw there. I have many t-shirts for fall and winter but only three blouses.

My brother-in-law will bring over an old set of dishes for me to put in the booth this afternoon when I get back. He wants to get rid of them. They take over valuable space. Plus, he's never going to need them.

I got busy cleaning out the shed yesterday afternoon and didn't make it to Windsor Place. Before I knew it, it was time to clean up for PINCH. After PINCH, Marilyn and Jack and Howard and I went to dinner at Eggberts. Judy is in Europe with a friend and Howard is lonely too. It was good to be with friends. Jack insisted on buying my dinner.

The shed was really filthy. I got out the broom and shop vac, moved everything out and swept and vacuumed the entire shed. It leaks in under the wall when it rains.

My next project is to really clean out the garage. I started that Tuesday. Then I have my patio bench to paint and the yard swing. Lots of stuff to do before winter.

Also, I want to take Bob's clothes to Bartlesville to the Goodwill store. They will give me a receipt for Leslie to use to take off her income tax.

PINCH Thursday

I don't have much planned for today. I had intended to mow but it stormed again last night. So the ground is too wet.

I do want to get back to see Phyllis again. Hopefully she will be more lucid today.

I also still want to take some more things to the booth at the antique mall. Then I want to go to the library. I didn't get there yesterday after all.

Tonight is the PINCH meeting. I will try to remember to attend. It will be held at the Church of God in Christ this month.

I will have lunch with Gay tomorrow in Cherryvale.

I am still having problems with the dreaded blue screen on my computer. I have run disk check twice and thought that may have fixed it but evidently not. I awoke a couple of hours ago to a light in the den and it was the dreaded blue screen.

I'm not sure what else to do. I hate to reformat my hard drive but that may be my only option left. I really need to back up my documents again.

I never got out to see Phyllis. I did get to the library and got four books. That should hold me for awhile.

Rain Again!

It has rained every day this week and I am really tired of it. My lawn needs mowing and I washed my car yesterday because it was looking so bad.

We went to Garfield's for dinner last night and we had a really good time. My daughter asked my brother-in-law too so he picked me up. My grandson bought everyone's dinner. That was sweet of him.

I go to Independence again this morning to get my hair cut. Then I will pick up Juanita for breakfast. I haven't seen her in a month. I hope she is doing well.

I want to go to the library sometime today. There is absolutely nothing on TV worth watching.

More later....

Birthday Dinner

My daughter just called to say they were going to Bartlesville this evening to Garfield's to celebrate her husband's 57th birthday and they invited me to go along. Their son (my grandson) and his wife and baby will go too. They also asked me to invite my brother-in-law. He doesn't have much of a life. All he does is go visit my sister in the nursing home. Otherwise he is all alone. I sent off his birthday card yesterday. I hope he gets it today in time for his birthday.

Scott called this morning about 6:00. He will be coming here again in two weeks. That's the Saturday evening that they are having the PINCH community wide basket dinner and will be honoring my Bob, who began the entire idea. His contention was that if the entire community, both black and white, got together to eat and sat together and enjoyed an evening of entertainment together, they would get to know one another and their differences would disappear. It seemed to work. I will fix a dish for the dinner too and Scott and I will attend. That's on Saturday the 25th.

Today is my board meeting in Independence. It may be the last one before the Pittsburg Clinic takes the clinic over. They are already a federally funded health clinic. We have not been able to keep a nurse practitioner. It will be interesting to see how that goes.

When I get back from Independence, I will go visit Phyllis...around 2:00.

I finally got out to see Phyllis about 2:45 and stayed until 3:45. Poor Phyllis. She is so muddled. I am just sick about it. She told me she and Bob had bought one of two pickups in the parking lot. June, one of the other residents there had bought the other one...according to Phyllis at least. I did not argue with her. I just shared all the news I could think of and talked about the past. She even had trouble remembering the past today. She was in pain from walking to the bathroom so they gave her a pain pill. I think those pain pills are what is putting her to sleep. She says her life is a living hell. I don't doubt it.

Monday Plans

Today I plan to clean house and do my laundry. Then at noon I will go to Independence to meet Leslie for lunch. There I will mail off our package to Sage ( my great granddaughter,in Lawrence.

Tomorrow I will go back up for my board meeting in Independence. After that I plan to see Phyllis over at Windsor. That is also John's birthday. I will send off his birthday card today.

Wednesday, once again I get my hair done in Independence and Juanita and I will have breakfast at Eggberts there. So far, those are my plans for the week.

I had a stopped up sewer line this morning and had to call a plumber. He came about 10:00 and reamed it out. It is working fine now. Just another bill though...

I got our birthday gifts sent off to Sage this afternoon. She will be seven on Thursday.

By the way, a nurse friend of mine posted this link about medication.

Busy Sunday

Scott has left this morning and I am getting ready to go to Webb City myself. It is light now and that is a two hour drive. When I get home, I will make my baked beans for the Living the Questions dinner at Lively's this evening.

Tomorrow, I must clean the house thoroughly. It seems if I don't do it all in one day, I don't get it all done at all. Sometime this afternoon, I will talk to my brother-in-law and find out who attended this morning at Crossroads so I will know who to send the Sunday letters.

More later...

I had a good time in Webb City. What appeared to be a topic that I was going to approach carefully turned out well after all because I was able to use personal testimony to illustrate my point.

Three of them took me to lunch afterward.

I now have my beans in the oven....

Later...after Living the Questions group.... I had a good time this evening. Even though I was very tired..I think it was good for me to get out among friends. I had very little beans left. I brought them home but don't know exactly when I will eat them. I've had a lot of food the past three days.
