Saturday and Breakfast at Eggberts in Independence.

Independence is not under a boil order and their restaurants are open so Bob and I will drive up there for breakfast.

I slept fairly well last night although I finally just got up at 4:00. I guess I got my sleep out. I got up and dressed and ran Missy's afghans through fresh air in the dryer to get the cat hair out of them.

I will clean the apartment today when we get back home. I did not get to clean on Thursday, my regular cleaning day. I want to scrub the kitchen floor on my hands and knees again. I got it much cleaner doing that last week. I always do the bathroom floor that way.  Then I will run the vacuum and also vacuum the daybed again. Missy lies there and gets cat hair on the green daybed cover.  I have to vacuum it a couple of times a week.

She is patiently waiting for her breakfast now so I will get back to this later....

I got Missy her breakfast and took my pills after I had breakfast. I picked up Bob and we drove to Independence to have breakfast at Eggbert's there. There was heavy fog but we drove slowly and made it just fine. I couldn't face biscuits and gravy at Braum's. All the other restaurants here are closed because of the boil order. It will probably be Tuesday before ours has expired.

When I got home I changed my clothes and cleaned the apartment. I washed the bathroom and kitchen floors on my hands and knees and got them really clean. Now I am finished and it is only 10:40. I have the whole day ahead of me. I stopped at Dr. Barta's on my way home from Independence and bought Missy's flea meds. They are now $96.00 and change. That cat is a very expensive investment.  They did tell me that I could put it on her every other month during winter while she is inside. That should help.

I don't know what I will do with the rest of the day. I'm still full from breakfast and so is Bob. He has leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner so he should be fine if he gets hungry. More later....

I called Bob to see if he would like to go with me to Bartlesville. He did. I am looking for some more soft green garland to decorate my doorways. Everything is gaudy green tinsel or other colors. I went first to Holly Lobby, then to Walmart there and then to Lowe's. No one had anything in greenery  without hard wire in it. Finally I stopped on the way out of town at K-Mart and found a compromise. It isn't what I wanted but will have to do. When we got back I took Bob home. I managed to wear him out. It's almost 4:00.

More later...

He was too tired to come over last night so I took my bath early and watched "The Eighties" on CNN until nearly 10:00. By then Missy and I were ready to go to bed.

Friday and Decorating the Church for Christmas

What a night! I slept well but this morning when I checked the city of Coffeyville's web site, I found that the city has turned off their intake from the river to avoid getting those ethylene glycol   contaminates in it and we were told to turn off our hot water tanks to avoid ruining them when they run dry.

A boil order remains in effect this morning for Coffeyville city residents due to the loss of pressure in the city's water system on Thursday.

I got the step stool and climbed up there to turn mine off at the breaker box. It is about seven feet above the floor. Bob didn't know anything about it since he is not online and did not get the word. So I texted him about it. He needs to take to Rhonda..his building manager about it..

What is tragic is all the people who are not online and do not know about these orders.  If they don't listen to the local radio station, they won't have a clue.

I'd better get my breakfast. I don't know what Missy got into. She threw up this morning so I've already had one mess to clean up.

More later...

This is the latest information out of the city of Coffeyville. This pertains to those customers who get Thier water from City of Coffeyville.

NOTICE FROM CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE – 11/25/16 7:25 a.m.

The City of Coffeyville received good news as test results showed no contaminants at our location on the Verdigris River, and KDHE gave the go ahead to begin producing water again. The boil order is still in effect. Water distribution will begin today at 9 a.m. at the Youth Activities Center. More information following an 8 a.m. meeting.

Wonderful!

I got my breakfast and Missy's and then boiled some water on the stove. I decided since there was no exercise class today that I would decorate for Christmas here at the apartment. I got home from church at 11:30. We sure made it pretty though. I will try to get a photo next time I'm out there and post it here. And while I am at it I may take some of the apartment too. I did not put up my Christmas tree since I will be in Florida during Christmas and Missy will be here alone. I knew she would make a toy out of it. I put up all my other decorations though and the ceramic tree my sister, Phyllis,  gave me years ago. I set it on the console under the wall mirror. I will light it up for Christmas.

But first Bob came over and I fixed the beans and cornbread for lunch again. We used that up. I went to town to get water since we are still under a boil order for a couple of more days. FEMA is distributing it free of charge.

Then when Bob left, I began my decorating. It took me all afternoon to get it done anyhow...even without the tree.

He came back to read the paper and stayed to watch a couple of episodes of the old "Big Bang Theory". When he left I took my bath and Missy and I watched TV until 9:00 when we went to bed.

Thursday and Thanksgiving

I slept better last night but still got up at 3:45. I had so much on my mind. I got dressed and fixed my salad. I forgot to buy raisins so I am waiting for the convenience store on the corner to open to buy some. I have put apples, celery, seedless grapes and pecans in it but it still needs raisins.

I have had my breakfast and fed Missy too. She is here behind me on the daybed.

I have been checking the status of our water here in Coffeyville. The update last night has ordered the closing of all restaurants, car washes and laundromats. No laundry or car washes can be done until they learn the extent of the pollution in the water supply. We have a large capacity of stored water here in Coffeyville but we also supply rural water and Nowata, Oklahoma. Nowata shut off their water last evening. They are providing bottled water for drinking.  Neodesha's water supply has 5 times the level of acceptable chemicals.  They can't use their water at all. Everyone is on bottled water for the duration. Who knows how long this will last and what the health hazards are for those folks in Neodesha. The air there is also polluted.

More later...

We just received this update from the City Manager's office on the water situation:

NOTICE FROM CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE – 11/24/16, 8 a.m.

The water emergency remains in effect for all users of Coffeyville water including Dearing, South Coffeyville and the rural water districts served by Coffeyville. Water usage is limited to drinking, medical needs and food preparation only. We are beginning to experience low pressure is some areas. The water is safe to drink.

There is a conference call scheduled at 10 a.m. with the Governor’s Emergency Management Team at which time we expect to learn results of the river water testing. An update will be posted following this meeting.

Plans are being finalized for the water distribution, and these will be posted, also. In the meantime, please conserve water.

And Juanita called me a little bit ago. Her stepson, Mike, is going to Cherryvale for dinner this noon and will be bringing her a meal back from there.  So I will not need to bring her one from Leslie's this afternoon.

More later....

We had a great meal at my daughters. Now I am stuffed. She had an excellent pecan pie and I just had to have some.

We finally got some news from  the Emergency team about the water here.

NOTICE FROM CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE – 11/24/16, 1:15 p.m.

BOIL WATER ORDER ISSUED

A conference call on the water emergency has been held with the Kansas Department of Emergency Management. Test results on the river water are good. However, there is one test which couldn’t be run at the state and was flown to Dallas. The results will not be known until tomorrow. The water pressure in our reservoirs is very low. The City has notified the state, and a boil order has been issued. All water necessary for drinking and food preparation must be boiled before use. This notice pertains to all water customers served by the City of Coffeyville.

So I guess we still have to boil any water we use to cook or even drink.  At least until we hear from Dallas. I wonder how long that will be?

More even later..

I just saw something strange. Channel 6 out of Tulsa just announced that Nowata, twenty miles south of us and also on the Verdigris River, has ethylene glycol in their water. I understand they get their water from Coffeyville. How can we be under a simple “boil” order and yet  Nowata has ethylene glycol in their water.   What are we missing? Did they have Phillips Petroleum Company do their lab work? How can they be just south of us and getting their water from us and have different chemicals in their water then what was found in ours?

I don’t want to simply boil our water if it too contains ethylene glycol.  That’s antifreeze, isn’t it?

I just learned that Nowata does not get their water from Coffeyville.  They did not shut down their intake there and that's why they have the ethylene glycol in their system. Coffeyville shut down their intake before they ran through their reserves. So they have none in their system.

Bob didn't come tonight. He had eaten too much and wasn't feeling well.  Missy and I went to bed at 8:30. I was exhausted.

Wednesday and Exercises and Bob's MRI

Today we will go to exercise class and then on to the hospital for Bob's MRI.  We will eat our lunch later today after we get home from the hospital. Bob wants me to go with him and I will take my Kindle to read while we are there and he is getting his test. He probably will not get any results until next week sometime.

I did not sleep well again last night. I finally took a Benedril capsule at 3:30 but never did go back to sleep.

I soaked the beans over night and will fix the cornbread when we get back from the hospital.

Later this afternoon, I want to fix my Waldorf Salad for tomorrow.  I will cover the bowl with Saran to keep it fresh. Leslie is having 12 tomorrow for our meal.

I need to run to the market before going to pick up Bob for exercise class. I need oleo. I found ham in the freezer this morning and cut it up in small pieces for the beans.  They are in the slow cooker with the beans.  The table is set and so the cornbread is all I need to make when we finally get back to my apartment.

Yesterday I got to see the puppies again. They have really grown. Their eyes are open now. They are so cute! They will be ready to take to the buyers in another three weeks. Four are sold already. That leaves four. All are beautiful.

More later...

O.K. Bob and I went on to exercises and then I took him for his MRI. He won't know anything until sometime after the first of the week.  I came home and put the cornbread in the oven and we had our beans and cornbread. They were good! I took some to Marilyn R. too. She is having trouble with  vertigo. She was not at exercise class today.

Bob went home to take a nap and I have been cleaning up the dishes and playing free cell on the desktop computer.  I think I will wait and make up my Waldorf salad in the morning. That way it will be freshly made.

More even later....

I received a notice from the Coffeyville Police Nexle notice department about the water situation after a huge explosion at the Aerosol plant in Neodesha on Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM. That chemical fire is still burning and endangering the water supply of Coffeyville too. Independence has a smaller storage capacity then Coffeyville and had their water emergency immediately on Tuesday.

We are now under a water emergency after 8:00 PM this evening and are not to use water for anything except drinking, medical needs and food preparation.  They are still waiting for the results of the testing of our water from Kansas City and Wichita labs. All restaurants and laundromats are to shut down after this notice at 8:00 PM tonight. That will impact their Thanksgiving business and heaven only knows for how long.

Bob came over this evening and we watched TV until 8:00. After he went home I got ready for bed and Missy and I went to bed about 9:00.

Tuesday and My Hairdo Day and Trip to Bartlesville

I slept poorly again last night. I awoke at 12:30 and went to the bathroom and took another Zeequil with my thyroid med. The Zeequil do help me to sleep. I awoke this morning at 5:45..late for me.

Missy is waiting for her breakfast and I will need to get mine eaten too. I want to text Bob after I eat and let him off the hook to go to Independence with me. I forgot about his pain and this hairdo day is a short one. We would have to do a lot of time killing before lunch and it hurts him when he walks. His MRI is scheduled for tomorrow.

I forgot that when I talked about doing something about starting my Christmas shopping. I'm not sure what to do about Christmas shopping this year. I have been into my savings several times this year and it is diminishing too quickly.  I want to buy for Scott and Ginger because I will be with them for Christmas. That may all I can buy for this year.

I will go to Bartlesville to look for Advent candles. Maybe I will get a new Advent wreath if I can find one. The old one looks very sad.

More later...

Leslie and I found just what we needed for the Advent wreath.  We bought some greenery and the candles.  We ate at Garfield's in the mall and had the cranberry walnut salad with chicken. It was very good. We also had raspberry tea.  I bought hers and John's Christmas gifts. Hers is wrapped but I will need to wrap John's.  I am going to try to finish my Christmas shopping before I go to Florida on the 20th of December.

While I was at Sayer's Ace Hardware gift shop, Juanita called me. She had her bank statement so since I was already up there, I finished picking up Leslie's gift and went out to Juanita's to balance her checkbook.  She also had me write the check for her property taxes.  I put that in the mail as I was leaving  Independence.

I got home about 4:40 and was really tired.  Bob came over about 5:20 and we opened the birthday gift Juanita sent home with me.  It was Russell Stover chocolates. We each had two.

When he went home I got ready for bed and at 8:30, Missy and I went to bed...exhausted.

Monday and Exercise Class

I slept pretty well last night and did not get up until 6:00...a world record for me. I awoke in the night to go to the bathroom and while I was up I took a Zeequil capsule. That's the reason I slept so late.

I will pick up Bob for exercise class this morning at 8:45. He will do what he can do because of his hip/back pain. He hates to give it up altogether. His MRI is Wednesday. I am hoping they will have a solution to his problem.

I will go to Bartlesville after lunch and look for Advent candles or a new Advent wreath. I need it for the worship center next Sunday morning when I am presiding.

First we will have lunch. I will warm up the meatloaf in the skillet and fry some leftover potatoes too. We will have the rest of his Watergate salad and a veggie. Then I have pudding and some of Marilyn's cookies for dessert. After that, I will go to Bartlesville.

Right now Missy is patiently waiting for her breakfast and I need to get my own as well.  So more later....

Well we had our breakfasts and I went on with Bob to exercise class and afterwards went home to work on my computer. I decided to go to Bartlesville tomorrow when Leslie could go with me. Today she is helping John deliver product.

I fixed lunch about 11:20 and used up some of the leftover meatloaf and the boiled potatoes. I fried them. He went home to take a nap and I an going out to the market to get the rest of the ingredients for my Waldorf Salad for Thursday.

More even later...

I got my groceries and got them put away and balanced my checkbook. Now I will check the mail and see if there's anything I've forgotten.

The afternoon was rather quiet. I took Missy out for a little while after it warmed up but then she saw that black cat across the street and wanted back in the house.  I read the rest of the afternoon and watched TV after Bob came over. He left at 7:00 and I took my bath and Missy and I watched TV until my regular bedtime.

Sunday and a Very Busy Day

I got up before 5:00 this morning. I had a meatloaf to bake for the dinner following church. I am tired because I lose too much sleep.

I got the meatloaf done and the minutes ready for the business meeting and then went to pick up Bob shortly before 9:00. He has been having some pain in his hips and legs He is scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday.

We had a good church school class and Bob brought pumpkin bread. That went over very well with coffee. We had a nice sized class today too. We started our new book. It's called "Saving Jesus...From the Church"  It looks like it could be very interesting.  We did the preface today and had a good discussion.

After church school we went in to our business meeting. We elected officer for the congregation and also  voted on a call to Elder for one of our pastors. We elect our pastors from among the Elders. We are a self sustaining church and do not pay our staff.

After the business meeting Vivian preached.  She did a good job. And then we had a basket dinner. I helped clean up afterward. I had some meatloaf left. Another woman had also brought meatloaf.  I will warm it up tomorrow for lunch with some fried potatoes and salad. I have pudding too in the frig.

I worked on the minutes when I got home and then put out the newsletter to the congregation.  Now I have that finished and I want to share the latest photo of my daughter's eight puppies. They are three weeks old today.

Aren't they cute? That's a pile of puppies.

Scott texted me this afternoon. I am getting excited about my trip. I leave the 20th of December and come back January 4th.  Bob will come over and take care of Missy. I had intended to take her out to Leslie's but he said she would be miserable and he would come over to feed her and give her her treats and clean out her litter box.

I worked most of the afternoon on the newsletters and the minutes to the congregation's business meeting.

Marilyn R came over with some of the containers I had sent food home with her. She brought me some fresh baked oatmeal cookies. They were very good. I limited myself to one with my Chai.

Bob came over after 5:00 and watched a football game with me before the 60 Minutes program. Then we watched 60 Minutes and he went home. I took my bath and sat with Missy in my lap and watched TV until 9:00 when Missy and I went to bed.
