Surprse Saturday

It's been a wild day!

I was on my way back from the Dearing post office when my sister's husband called this morning. I was then going to be on my way to the nursing home to visit my sister.

My brother-in-law had gone to see Phyllis and she was in a terrible mess. She could not walk. She could not feed herself and she had been up all night going to the bathroom. They were feeding her her breakfast because they needed to give her her meds, Her blood sugar was 293. She was exhausted. They were going to let her take a nap because she was so exhausted. The next time she needed to go to the bathroom, she refused to go and she soaked the bed. She was being very aggressive with them and she was running 103 temp.

They talked to her doctor and he wanted them to transport her to the hospital where they could get a definitive diagnosis.

So he and I met at the hospital at 1:00 and they soon brought her in to the emergency room. They catheterized her and took blood. Her urine was milky and had a lot of bacteria in it so they knew she had another urinary tract infection and they soon transferred her into a room...number 239. They have her on two antibiotics now. In the middle of the afternoon, her daughter Denise came in. She stayed with my sister while her dad and I went to have some dinner. Neither of us had had much to eat all day. We left sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 after he encouraged her mom to eat some dinner. She finally got drowsy and we left shortly before Denise. She was constantly trying to pull her IVs out and we had to watch her carefully. We hunted up the nurse and clued her in on the problem they needed to watch for.

Denise will come in in the morning and my brother-in-law will be in after church and lunch. I have a breakfast to fix before church for the Sunday School class and I need to make an apple crisp after lunch for the Living the Questions group that is scheduled to meet at my house at 7:00. Sometime after I get that fixed, I will go back up to the hospital to see how she's doing.

It's a mess. She very disoriented although she knows all of us just fine.

That was the bulk of my day. Poor Phyllis! She's been through so much!

My older son called while I was at the hospital waiting for my sister to be transported. He had bought a car and was going to have my truck detailed and put it on Craig's List.

It's a nice little Ford Ranger pickup. It's black and has automatic transmission and a bed liner and a bed cover plus it has a CD player and is clean. It has steps on each side. It has two new tires and a new windshield. I think it now has 100,000 miles on it. I am wanting to get $4500 for it. That's what the blue book says it's worth. It's not perfect but it's a 2000 Ford Ranger.

Busy Friday

I have quite a bit I want to do today. I will pick up Cyndi at 9:00 at Gary's Automotive. She is having Jeff's car repaired so they can sell it.

Then I will get some boxes at Steve's and start sorting out and pricing the stuff that I will put in our booth at the Country Time Antique Mall on the 1st. In the meantime, Cyndi and I need to put up some more shelving there. They will give us one shelf but the other eight are our responsibility. On September 7th, I will start sorting stuff for my garage sale on the 11th. That will give me a chance to give the garage a good cleaning.

Elnora will be here sometime on the 1st of September to stay until the 6th. I will have a busy couple of weeks. Having that booth should give me a chance to de-junk the house though. I have been needing to do that for several years. I also need to start selling books on Amazon again too. I have way too many books. I will be going to the library more now instead of collecting books.

Once I get a lot of the clutter out of here, it will be easier to keep the house clean.

I went to Wal Mart yesterday for the first time in a month and bought a few grocerys for the apple crisp I want to make for Living the Questions group on Sunday evening. I bought some vanilla ice cream to go over it. I also bought an 8 GB flash drive to back up my documents on this computer. They had them for $20.

I also want to go visit my sister today. It should be a busy day.

More later....

I got nothing done I intended to do. Instead I went with my brother-in-law to visit his oncologist. He needed moral support. He got pretty good news. The cancer still is not doing anything so they are not treating it yet. He will see the oncologist in three months. I was going to visit Phyllis this afternoon but it got very hot and Slinky had to come in the kitchen. So I will see her on Tuesday.

Window Washing Today

I hope it's nice enough today to wash windows. My windows are terribly dirty. I hope the hose is long enough to reach the east windows. I have some solution called Rinz It that cleans the windows right through the screens and cleans the screens too. I have used it for years. It is also good for your flowers and the grass. I will get some more of it today.

I never found time for Slinky's walk yesterday either. I should do that first thing. He did not eat his supper last night so I brought it in the kitchen. Hopefully, he wil be hungry this morning.

I couldn't sleep last night so I finally got up at midnight or thereabouts and took a sleeping pill. Then I slept until 5:30. I'd like to finish the front yard weeding too but that's where I got eaten alive by chiggers last month. We'll see.

I should find the time to go visit my sister too....

More later....

Then she took me to breakfast. We decided to rent a booth at the antique mall and dejunk our houses.

Cyndi needed me to pick her up when Jeff's car was finished.

I got the outsides of the windows done after it cooled down to 80 degrees. It was dark when I finished.

I will see my sister tomorrow.

House Cleaning Day

I've put it off as long as I can. I am going to clean house today and if the grass gets dry, I will also mow. The place looks fine but it has to be dirty. I also want to wash the towels and bath mats.

I last mowed last Thursday and the grass looks shaggy. I know it is forecast to get really hot again so I need to get this all done before that happens.

I have a book or two to read. I went to the library yesterday.

More later....

I got the house cleaned and the yard mowed. I even weeded my flower beds in back. If the weather holds I will trim tomorrow and weed the front flower beds.

I went to Eggberts and had their Meal Deal for $4.95..with iced tea and tax it came to a little over seven dollars. I will do that now and then. I am not eating very well anymore.

I have company coming for a week on the 1st. I don't know whether we will eat out or I will cook a little.

Rainy Tuesday

It's raining today and I am really glad. It has cooled down considerably. I went out and drank a cup of coffee this morning, trimmed and watered some of my struggling plants, swept off the patio and fed the animals. Slinky did not get his walk....not in the rain. I plan to go see my sister today and stay an hour.

The dentist office just called and chnaged my dental appointment to next Thursday instead of this Thursday. Drat!

The rain let up long enough for me to go see my sister. It has been a lovely cool day. The rain really cooled everything down.

My poor sister is so confused. She still knows us all but her confusion is pitiful.

I went to Arby's with a coupon for a regular roast beef sandwich free with the purchase of a drink. My lunch came to $1.89. Those online coupons really come in handy and I like roast beef sandwiches much better than hamburgers.

Sunday at the Campgrounds

After the church service Sunday, Leslie and I just grabbed a milkshake and left for the campgrounds. We first went to Talbots where she exchanged her slacks and then went through their sale rack for two additional bargains. She found two neat tops and another pain of denim slacks.

We stopped at the Candy House on the way there and I bought a half pound of peanut clusters. We each ate six or seven.

Then we went out to the campgrounds. About fifty or sixty people showed up, many of them children with their young mothers and fathers. There were a half dozen my age. There are two big shelters by the pool and we mostly sat and visited.

We got home about 7:30. It was a good day. It had cooled off a little because of Saturday night's rain so it was bearable.

After I got home, I got my church weekly newsletters done before bedtime. I need to get a cheer up card for Carletta sometime today. She is back at Mayo's for an experimental treatment for her disease. She is staying alive with blood transfusions weekly right now.

I will clean at Leslie's this morning and then meet her for lunch.

It is supposed to cool off into the 90's this week. That will be a welcome relief from 102 -107.

Busy Sunday

After church today Leslie and I are going to the campgrounds for a swimming party and light supper. Before we go there, we will stop at Joplin because she has a pair of pants to exchange at Talbots. The zipper is not quite straight and when you pay Talbot's price, those pants had better be perfect.

We are just going to grab a milkshake and go.

We will be back this evening after the supper.

I imagine the kids will have taken over the pool so we probably won't swim. But we will enjoy visiting.

I hope it will be cool enough for Slinky. It rained last night and may rain again today. In fact the rain began moving in while we were at the ice cream social. I had left my car at Leslie's and the keys in it and luckily John ran my windows up. I had left them cracked because of the heat.
