Another Busy Saturday

This has been a busy Saturday. We went to breakfast around 7:00 and then afterward came back home to do everything we needed to get done. First I worked on my checkbook. I found a hundred fifty dollar difference between my checkbook and Quicken. It took me the better part of an hour to find that I had forgotten to enter a deposit in Quicken.  After I did that, it balanced.

Later we worked on getting him online with his new back account. He has Windows 8, which I really do not like. It's so different. There are no icons...only apps. Getting him online was not all that difficult but getting his bill pay to work was something else. I never did figure it out. He will need to take it to the bank on Monday.

Then it was time to begin lunch. We had hamburgers and french fries with a cherry lime slush Bob had bought each of us yesterday when I got home so late from Independence. He had put them in the freezer to save for today. Then I lay down in the recliner and took a long nap.

My eyelid surgery has worked out just fine.  It is nearly completely healed and I have a lot wider vision field.

Now I am just checking my e-mail and blogging here. It's 3:30 now. The weeks just fly by.

More later...

Bob came over at 6:00 and we watched  CNN's "The 60's". It was about the Kennedy assassination and we had seen all that information before over the years but there was nothing else to watch so we watched it again. After he left, I took a shower and washed my hair and blew it dry. I will go to bed about 9:30

Another Friday

Today is another Friday. The weeks fly by! We will go to exercise class and then I will go on to Independence and leave Bob to fend for himself for lunch. I am going to take Juanita to lunch and catch up on her news.

I slept well. I did wake up with a stiff neck but I took a couple of Aleve and that may take care of the neck pain. I imagine I slept crooked on the pillow.

We had some of the strawberry rhubarb pie last night. It turned out "o.k." The rhubarb was a little tough. I had cooked it for ten minutes as the recipe said but still it seemed a little tough. But still it was good.

I took Missy outside for awhile this morning.  The cat across the street (the one that looks like Missy) came out for awhile and she was very wary of "him". I think it's a "him".

More later.....

I went on to see Juanita after Bob and I got home from exercise class.  We had lunch and afterward we visited awhile. Juanita is almost completely blind from macular degeneration.  As mine did her bank sold and she had tried to get all her paid "automatically" bills changed to the new account.  She can no longer write checks. Unfortunately she had received three separate letters with the same routing number for each one and account numbers that were different for each of her three accounts two of which were separate checking accounts. She couldn't see that there were three different account numbers and gave every account the same wrong account number.   We  went to the bank twice to figure it out. Finally I told her I would come back up Monday and get all those accounts she has changed to the correct account number.

That poor woman is 92 and barely able to get around plus she is nearly blind. There is no one to help her get that done and she tried to do it herself.

It's a tragedy no one was around to help her. Her only son lives in Chicago. She has a granddaughter there in Independence but she has a full time job.  Saturdays, her only day off,  most of these businesses are closed.

Thursday Again

We will have our leftover meatloaf today for lunch. I will fry a few potatoes and fix a veggie again.  Bob will bring another salad. I  may try to get my strawberry rhubarb pie made today.  I have never made one before. I got the recipe from Judy's website.

Tomorrow I may go up to Independence and visit with Juanita since my eyelid surgery seems to be healed now.  Strange..it only took a week but all the bruising and swelling is gone now and I have a wider field of vision.

Bob will need to get a new nut and perhaps a lock washer for the mower's wheel. One of the tires comes off during mowing.  He has "meals on wheels" for Barbara today and also next Thursday. She will be out of town visiting her children.

More later....

Bob got his mower wheel fixed.  He tried it out to be sure and it stayed on.

I got dinner done just as my niece and her daughter came to visit. I waited as long as I could to serve but then we just had to go ahead and eat. They just needed Bob to take Dee to school on Thursday. He couldn't do it ( he is delivering meals on wheels next Thursday too) so they asked me.  I can do that. I put it on my calendar.

We will watch a video this evening.  There's not much on TV on Thursday.

He has gone home now to take his nap.

Another Exercise Wednesday

Today we will go on to exercise class at 9:00.  Later this morning I will bake the meatloaf I put together earlier this morning. We will also have a baked potato and broccoli. Bob will bring a coleslaw.  I will make some pudding now that I have real milk.

I watched the CNN interview with Hillary last night and was very impressed. If she runs in 2016, I will vote for her. I am also reading her new book "Hard Choices".  I have read one other of her books and would have voted for her if she had got the nomination last time.

I slept very well last night. Of course, I went to bed after 10:00 and that helped.

More later....

We mowed this evening and Bob trimmed. The lawn looks so much better now. After I mowed, I came in and took my bath, put on my PJs  and watched some TV with Miss Kitty on my lap.

I heard from my eldest son, Keith this evening. He had a wonderful surprise for me.

I am going to bed about  9:30

Hairdo Day

This will be a great day. I will get my hair done and that always makes me feel like a new person.  I am able to wear my makeup now and that always helps too.I don't feel quite as much like I am my own grandmother. :)

It is supposed to  get up to 92 degrees today. The first day of summer is Saturday. It has already arrived here.

I will dust this morning and vacuum the bedroom. Missy was hiding in there yesterday and she hates the vacuum cleaner since it makes so much noise.

I slept well last night. I awoke only once...at 3:00 AM but I went to the bathroom and took one of my meds and went back to bed and to sleep. I got up about 5:00 as usual and made a pot of coffee and browned a biscuit for my breakfast.

About 9:30 we will leave for Independence and Bob will go too since he gets his haircut every three weeks. Afterward we will have lunch at Big Cheese.

Tomorrow I will cook again. I will fix meatloaf and baked potatoes with a veggie. Bob will bring salad. We will probably have fruit for dessert.  We also have exercise class tomorrow.

Doctor's Visit Monday

We will go to Joplin today to see the doctor who did my eyelid surgery. I don't know what he will do. My stitches are still apparent and I still have some red bruising around my eyes. I believe the lid swelling has gone down some though.  My appointment is at 9:40 so we will leave around 8:00 this morning.

I'm not sure where we will eat lunch....maybe Crackerbarrel this time.  We will see.

I went to bed around 9:00 last night and slept well until 3:00. Then I lay there for an hour and was not able to get back to sleep so I got up at 4:00 AM. At least I had no leg pain or any other pain. I simply could not get back to sleep. Too much going on, I guess. I still don't have a full staff for camp, I don't know when I will meet Amie for re-evaluation for a job and I don't know if I can get off work to direct the camp if I do get a job.

More later....

I got a good report from the doctor today.  He took out the stitches and was very pleased with the results of my surgery.  I will see him again in October.  I can wear my contacts again and can wear my makeup too. The make up covers the bruising.

Bob and I ate at Crackerbarrel this time. It was alright but I prefer the Olive Garden.

He will be over shortly to have wine and perhaps some more of the homemade ice cream I made yesterday..

I vacuumed this afternoon too.  I will dust tomorrow. I also have my hair done tomorrow so we will eat at Big Cheese.

Sunday Thunderstorms

It started thundering and raining thirty minutes ago.  Some of these storms can be severe today.

I didn't sleep much at all last night.  I went to bed around 9:00 and woke up at midnight. I had some left over pizza last night and that was a mistake.  Also, my right leg ached most of the night. I had taken two Tylenol before bedtime but I couldn't tell it did a thing to help. I got up at 3:00 AM and moved into the recliner. That didn't help either. Finally I just got up. Maybe I can get a nap this afternoon after I do the congregational letters.

Today is Father's Day.  Leslie has the sermon. I wonder what she will say about her dad. She misses him so much.  The boys miss him too but he and Leslie had the special bond daughters sometimes have with their fathers. The boys have that bond with me.

The eyes look a little better today but they still have a ways to go.

More later...

I got my letters finished  after dinner. A group of us went to Sirloin Stockade first.

Bob came over this evening and we watched Sixty Minutes together and some episodes of Big Bang Theory. We also ate some of the homemade ice cream I made this afternoon and had a glass of wine.
After he went home I washed my hair and dried it.  It couldn't wait another day.

Tomorrow we go over to Joplin so I can see the doctor again. My eyes are probably going to need another week or so to heal.
