Saturday Fourth of July Holiday

Today Bob and I will go eat breakfast at Sirloin Stockade and then skip lunch. We will have a 5:00 dinner at John and Leslie's home. I made my potato salad last night and put it in the frig and will take it out to their house around 4:30.  There will be eight of us for dinner; Bob and me, John and Leslie, Cyndi and Jeff and Denise and Dee.  I think I made enough potato salad. John will grill chicken on the grill.  I don't know about dessert.  Maybe Cyndi will bring it...who knows. Cyndi id a terrific cook.

I awoke again at 2:30 and was still awake at 3:30 so I got up and took a Benadril cap. Soon I fell asleep.  I awoke around 6:00 and got dressed and ready for breakfast before I took Missy out on the carport. We were out about 25 minutes and the small child came out across the street. The minute he came out he began screaming and crying at the top of his voice. Missy was terrified so we came back in.  I had been told that family was moving to Texas and thought they would have moved over this holiday but it didn't happen.

Scott called last night and we had quite a conversation. He had Ginger right there and I was on speaker phone.  So we had a nice visit. He is still looking for a job.  He has applied for dozens but so far, no luck. So much for hiring vets first.  Luckily Ginger has a good job. She is a nurse anesthetist and makes good money. So they will not starve. But he wants a job. They are going to build a new home in Florida this next year and are meeting with the designer this week. He wants to be able to contribute to that project. It's just a matter of time and he will find a good job. His main problem may be he has only an AA degree.  Anymore everyone really needs a BA at least.

Well, he is well trained....thanks to the army and the  misguided Bush wars. Let's hope Obama will withstand the urgings of the congregational and armed services warmongers to get into another misguided culture war. War settles nothing and only creates even worse problems...especially culture wars like these we are presently involved in.  We have caused the problems with these cultures by constantly interfering in their country's internal business. If another country interfered with our country's internal business we would be furious too.

More later. Time to go pick up Bob....

We had a nice breakfast at Sirloin Stockade and afterward came home to do some work on the schedule for tomorrow's service. I'm in charge and it's Sacrament Sunday.  We serve the communion the first Sunday of each month. Now I need to work on the sermon for the 19th. I try never to leave that to the last minute. The theme that Sunday is "Proclaim Peace".

Bob and I went out to church this afternoon and put his lawn mower back in the shed. We decided we were both too old to try to mow in this 90+ degree weather.  I will put his trimmer in the living room closet now.

I heard from Leslie that she will have 9 tonight. I think I have enough potato salad.

Friday and A Day Off

Thanks goodness it's Friday. I was so tired last night that I didn't sleep well at all.  I went right to sleep at 9:00 but then awoke at 2:00 to go to the bathroom and then couldn't get back to sleep.  Finally, I fell asleep again around 3:30 and slept until 6:00...late for me.

I am seriously considering giving up my job. Getting up and down off the floor is killing my legs and knees. I have to sit on the floor to put the DVD's away in the bookcases.  I also have to sit on the floor to put away the bottom two shelves of the new fiction.  And scanning in the children's department also has to be done on my knees. Those shelves are just off the floor for the children. And my hands swell up from pulling open the DVD cases to put the DVDs into the machines. I have soaped off my ring and put it away while I could still get it off without having to have it cut off at the jeweler. I have asked Aime to try to find me a place where I would not have to get down on the floor. All she had right now was Safehouse and I don't think I need to get involved in that at this time of my life. If I thought I could make it without the job, I would just give it up.

I ate my bowl of cereal and drank my first cup of coffee and then took Missy out on the carport. She did pretty well for awhile but then wanted to roam. I got her to come back to our territory several times but then finally she just ignored me so I picked her up and brought her back in. I do not want to chase a cat at 7:30 in the morning.

Bob called this morning. He had been sick most of the night with diarrhea so was not coming over for coffee after all. It's good he's staying at home. He needs to get over this illness. He will come over after I'm gone to meet Myra and do his laundry. Sycamore Landing charges $1.50 per load to wash and $1.50 per load to use the dryer. That's ridiculous.  I just have him use my washer and dryer while I'm at work.

I was amazed to see that sometime last evening someone (probably Dustin) had mowed. It was really my turn but it had been so hot I was just going to let it go and be a mess.   I was delighted that it was mowed though before the rains we are forecast for most of the next week.

I opened the back door to re-lock it and a huge spider came in. I finally caught it and killed it. I certainly don't need a spider bite.  I ended up cleaning the carpet there and while I had the Resolve out I did some other spots too.  I would love to have the indoor/outdoor carpet removed from the utility hall and a laminate installed instead but I could never get the landlady to do it.

It may rain this afternoon. There is a 60% chance of it. Maybe I will be home by then.  It looks like there's  pretty good chance tomorrow will be dry for our dinner at Leslie and John's.  I will make my potato salad after I get home from Bartlesville.

Missy is crying to go back out. I am trying to ignore her. She is hard to ignore. She cries so pitifully.

More later....

Well I had a great trip to Bartlesville to see Myra and have lunch with her. We had a good visit.  She is doing well. She had a real good time at the wedding for her granddaughter in Iowa.   We ate at Garfield's and had their lunch walnut cranberry salad. It is excellent. I had mine with raspberry tea.

On the way home I stopped and bought gas since it was $2.38.9 there. I also stopped at Peck's and bought hamburger patties.  Then when I got home I washed my car. I also will drop by the bank and get some more money. I spent most of what I had on lunch and the car wash.

Thursday Thank Goodness!

I am so glad I will be off work tomorrow. I am so tired of this work. I come home exhausted every afternoon and it's only four hours! I don't know what I would do if I had to work longer hours. It would help if I could sit part of the time. But standing for four hours really wears me out. I am really beginning to feel my age.

I am cleaning this morning. I have done a load of laundry, remade my bed and also cleaned the bathroom and kitchen and now I am taking a break. I am ready be begin vacuuming the den. I just put away the scanner I got out to scan Scott's senior photo.  I have vacuumed the dining room. I only have the den, my bedroom and the living room yet to do. I will do some dusting after that. I still need to go to the market this morning too before I begin lunch.

We will have our tuna, noodle, pea casserole and after we've taken out all we want, we will offer the rest to Bobby and Karan.  It might be their supper.

I took Missy out for about an hour this morning early...before it got so hot. I finally got my newspaper last evening about 8:00. I called Bob this morning and he came over to read it as we sat out on the carport and drank our coffee. After he left, I began remaking my bed and started my cleaning. Missy would like to go back out now but I have too much to do to try to keep her in line.

More later...I'd better get back to it...

I got everything done except the dusting.I will do that in the morning before I leave for Bartlesville to meet Myra. I'd like to mow before the rains come this weekend but I sweat so badly when I mow that it would ruin my hair.

I had a huge day at work today. I put away two full baskets of DVDs and all the new fiction books. I also put away the magazines.  Then Adrian had a project for me. He had me take all the books off the college preparatory shelves and put them into the stacks. That took me from 3:15 until 4:30.  But I got it finished.

When I got off work I stopped at Sonic and had a mini Sonic Blast. I was so tired and hungry. I had my paper when I got home. I also got my sale shoes that I had ordered. Several pair of my shoes are shot. I also took a box of old but good clothing to the Presbyterian Church sale today. I need to get rid of anything I will not be wearing again. I figure if I haven't worn it in two years, I'm not going to wear it and someone should get some good out of it.

Anyhow after Bob left this evening I took my bath and will get Missy into my lap and relax.

Wednesday and Exercises

I guess I will go to exercise class this morning.  Afterward I will reheat the spaghetti. Bob has bought more garlic toast and will bring more salad.  I still have pudding and cookies for dessert.

I slept pretty well last night. I woke up twice but got back to sleep right away.

Missy is ready to go outside and I will take her out just as soon as I finish this blog. She's been pretty patient. I am trying to train her to realize we will only go "out" in the early mornings as soon as the sun comes up. It's too hot  to go out in the afternoons and evenings. It was 96 yesterday and that is forecast for today too.

Sara faxed my one week time sheet yesterday afternoon at work. Katie is on vacation so Sara was in charge.  Aime will send us a new form for the second week. Today is the first day of the new fiscal year for the government..at least the SER program that I work for. So she had to submit a one week pay form for this past fiscal year and another for the rest of this new work week. ...today, Thursday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Well, Missy has been very patient so I will end this rambling and take her out.

More later....

Taking Missy out is one thing but getting her back in is another. She does not want to come back in and when I insist she hisses and spits at me...very angrily.

Well, we have our leftover spaghetti for lunch along with green beans and a salad. Then I went on to work. I get more unhappy with this job all the time. I got everything I could get done by 4:00 and was going to go into the office area to put away a few DVDs that had come in while I was shelf reading. They had locked the office and were having a "meeting" among themselves. They would not let me in to do my work. I piddled around the best I could until they finished their "meeting"  and I could finish my work. In the meanwhile I did Adrian's work for something to do. Needless to say their little kid "games" did not impress me.

I left five minutes early. I had arrived early so I didn't cheat anyone. I got home to feed Missy and eat some yogurt and drink my Chai.  My paper has not come yet so I am just watching the news.

Tuesday And Hair Day

This will be a very busy day. I will leave about 8:15 to go to Independence to take the cakes by the First Christian Church. Then I will go to my hair appointment. After that, I will run out to Leslie's and pick up three pounds of ground beef. After I get home and get that meat in the freezer, Bob and I will go over to Cherryvale to Just Us and eat their buffet for our lunch. Then he will bring me back and drop me off at work. He will later come back to pick me up.

Speaking of work, yesterday at exercise class, it was announced that the senior center will be closed on Friday for the Independence Day holiday. The city also owns the library so when I got to work I asked Adrian if we would be closed on Friday too. He said we would be.  It's nice of them to tell me. I would have shown up Friday afternoon for work. As it is, I will lose four hours of work. I contacted Myra and asked if she would be available for lunch on Friday and she will be so I will meet Myra in Bartlesville on Friday for lunch. I haven't seen her for a couple of months. This month she spent a week in Iowa with her daughter Christina and her family for her granddaughter's wedding.  That will be something she can tell me all about.

Yesterday at the library was the usual nightmare. I spent from 12:40 until 3:30 putting away DVDs. Then I spent a half hour taking green stickers off the new fiction and non fiction books that were ready to be put into the main shelves. Then I put away books, magazines and newspapers.  Katie was gone so I didn't continue my scanning. Thank goodness!  So it could have been worse. I dread going back into the noisy children's department to scan bar codes.

More later....

I spent the entire afternoon putting away DVDs and stacking the newspapers and putting away new fiction books. They just kept coming with those DVDs. They realize we will be closed Friday and Saturday and they can keep DVDs for a week.  Bob and I ate at Just Us and he took me to work afterward and picked me up afterward. Then he came in to check his bank account. Blue Cross/Blue Shield had taken their second payment out of my account Monday evening.  They did the same thing to his account.

We sat down later and ordered more Keurig coffees. I ordered two boxes of Hazelnut, two boxes of Chia Latte and one box of Mocha Nut Fudge. Bob ordered a box of Mocha Nut Fudge and one box of Hazelnut. He paid me for his and we got free shipping.  I still have some left but am nearly out of Chia Latte and I like to sit down after work each evening and have a cup of that. I am completely out of Hazelnut. Anyhow, we're fixed now.

Bob left about 7:00. I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner until 8:30 when I woke up and noted that I had fallen asleep. We just went to bed.

Monday and Back to Work

I never had an opportunity to blog yesterday. After church, Bob and I went to Great China for lunch. When I got home I worked on the congregational newsletter. Then I worked up the bulletin for next Sunday, when I preside. I discovered I had inadvertently left Greg and Johnna out of the new congregational directory so I edited that page and added them. Next time I have Karan stitch up a couple of directories, I will have them in there.  I don't know how I left them out of the ones I've already printed off and distributed. I need to send Johnna a birthday card from the congregation. Her birthday is Friday. I gave Leslie hers from me at church yesterday but will send one from the congregation too.

Then I went out to Wal Mart and bought new ink cartridges and a few groceries.  My computer had warned me the ink was low.

Later, just about the time I got all that finished, Bob came over to watch 60 Minutes. After he left, I took my bath and sat in the recliner with Missy until I started falling asleep...then I just got up and went to bed.

Today, for lunch, we will have that chicken and potato casserole, a veggie and a salad. This evening I will bake my cake for tomorrow.  I will ice it in the morning. Phyllis already brought me hers and I had Bob take it home and put it in his freezer. I will probably remind Karan about her cake at exercise class this morning.

I don't know what Katie will have me doing at work today. I think she leaves tomorrow for a vacation so I doubt she will have me scanning bar codes while she's gone.  I will have a ton of DVDs to put away this morning.  Adrian was telling me Friday how huge that job was. I told him there was a solution to that and he said "What?" I said we could limit each child to just one DVD each over the weekend or one per family. He said that would violate the five DVD each policy. I told him policy could be changed.

You see, I think it is a tragedy that children are not reading anymore.  They spend their weekend watching  one video after another. Their parents aren't much better as I can tell by the hundreds of returning DVDs every Monday.  Instead of reading and improving their reading skills and using their imagination while reading, they just are hypnotized by these videos.  What a shame! It's a baby sitting thing. They set their children down in front of the TV, give them five DVDs each, and ignore them the rest of the day that way. And we wonder why children and their parents are so obese. They get little or no exercise.
