Sunday and Online Church

I slept well last night and got up at 5:00AM and got myself ready for the day and had my oatmeal and a breakfast bar.

Then I opened the door to Scruffie, two yellow cats and three kittens. I put out the double dish, two green bowls and a square one. They all ate and have gone back across the street now. I will take the dishes back in the apartment to keep the ants out of it.

I put her double dish back out there and she ate some more and then left again. I will get the dishes back in.

I never did get my dusting done yesterday. I will try to get to it today. I need to go out to Dollar General and get a few things today too. I need juice and cat food, hazelnut coffee and some other things too. I have a list.

Online church begins at 11:00AM and I want to be sure to log on for that. It comes out of our church in Ontario, Canada . I am sure there are others closer but I know the guys who do that one and so I watch it.

Saturday and A Good Night's Sleep

I got up this morning about 4:45AM  after a pretty good night's sleep. I slept without the brace last night and the arm did not hurt. It doesn't hurt this morning either. That's a wonderful change. I think wearing that brace all that time gave the arm a chance to heal.

I opened the front door  to find six cats and kitties waiting to be fed, Scruffie led the way as usual.three of her kittens were there and two yellow cats. So I took out the double dish and the two blue bowls and they all ate. Scruffie's little mottled gray kitten is the only one still out there eating. This is beginning to be a major endeavor...... It is gone now so I had better get those bowls in before the ants find them. No,  a yellow adolescent kitten is now eating from the double dish so I will wait until it finishes.

The only thing I have to do today is dust the apartment and put the filters back in the vacuum sweeper. They dried overnight.

The yard needs to be mowed but it's too wet and we are forecast for some more rain today according the the weather on the8's.  The plants are outside. I need to water them for the morning watering. The rain should come in this afternoon so the rain will handle the afternoon watering.

More later....

It's 11:20AM and I just finished the book "The Room Where it Happened". It was a tough read....lots of detail.  Lots of foul language by Trump and everything seemed to be  a "" something or the other. Completely uncalled my opinion. The man has a sewer mouth.

I have a chicken pot pie in the microwave and will eat it after it has set for five minutes.  After I eat, I will do my dusting.

More later...

I had my chicken pot pie and an ice cream bar afterward. Then I played some card game on the laptop after that. Now I am watching the PGA golf tournament. The CBS news doesn't come on until  5:30PM.  It's 4:45PM now.

More later...

I watched some of the PGA golf, then watched the CBS news and took my bath at 7:00PM and then the storm broke.  It thundered, poured down rain and I brought the plants in because of the 60 mile per hour wind,

The wind finally stopped at bedtime but the rain was very violent and I took the plants back in and went on to bed at 9:00PM.

Friday and Lunch Out

I slept fairly well last night. I did wake up two or three times and went to the bathroom. I got finally got up shortly before 5:00AM and made the bed and dressed and had my breakfast of oatmeal and a breakfast bar. I am working on my coffee now. I have come into the den to use the desktop computer instead of turning on the TV and checking to see if Scruffie is out there with her kittens waiting to be fed.  I guess I am just not quite ready for that drama yet this morning.

I am 2/3 through the book I am reading. It is slow reading as Bolton wants to recount all of Trumps nonsense. There is plenty of that!

I finally went in the living room and opened the front door and Scruffie and her crew were all there waiting for their breakfast. Even Big Yellow Tom Cat was there. I took out another extra bowl for him. It looks like  a zoo out there with all those cats and kittens.

It will be interesting to learn if Nancy still wants to go in the restaurant for our lunch or do a carry out..or even if she will be up for lunch at all. That's always a toss up. I am supposed to pick her up at 11:30AM.

More later..

I have been reading in the book again while waiting for the CBS news.

Well, it's 10:00AM and the CBS news just went off. I have time to vacuum the dining room before I go check on Nancy and see if she still wants to go to lunch. I will take stainless ware just in case she wants to go to the park and eat instead of going in the restaurant. Dale and Gina will have a fit if they find out we have eaten inside the restaurant.

More later....

Sure enough. They  wanted me to pick up something at Sonic and bring it back to Nancy's home to eat it. I did it this time but I will think of some way to get her out of her house next week. She is going to be crazy staying home all the time.

I stayed all afternoon and visited with her. I got home about least that is when I left her house. I got home and checked my mail and then read my AARP magazine. I will take it to Bob when I see him next.

I did get the dining room vacuumed and cleaned up the sweeper. I will put the filters back in it in the morning when they dry. Tomorrow I want to to dust.

I am watching the Channel 6 news right now. It is 4:45PM. CBS News comes on at 5:30PM. When it comes on I will watch it.

The dad of the black kitten is out there eating now. It is just as pitch black as that kitten. Scruffie was here when I got home and I have already fed her. This guy is really enjoying the cat food she left.

More later...

At 7:00PM. I took my bath and at 7:45PM, Keith, my oldest son, called and visited with me quite  awhile. That was nice!  My boys are really good about keeping in touch...about as good as my daughter, Leslie.

I will go to bed at 9:00PM

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept fitfully last night again. The right arm has begun to hurt again. I adjusted the brace but for some reason in the early morning I woke up with it hurting again. It does best when I put it under my spare pillow. But I have to lie on my back or the weight of my body makes the shoulder hurt. I sure thought that brace was the answer to my problem.

I woke up at 4:00AM and couldn't get back to sleep so I just got up and dressed and got myself ready for the day.

When I clean today, I will just do the bare floors, and vacuum the bedroom, halls and living room. Then tomorrow I will do the dining room and den.

I want to get my breakfast so I will get back to this later.

I have had my breakfast and fed six cats/kittens. The straight line winds are terrific this morning. I went out and watered both pots of flowers well. The wind will dry them out. I may have to bring them in to keep them from being damaged. I have nursed these flowers for several months.  We're supposed to have a severe storm watch and rain today and Saturday also .

More later...

Well, we had some 60 mile per hour winds and a hard rain. It has calmed down some now. I looked out in my front yard and my neighbor's trash container had rolled and blown into my yard. I went out through the garage with my umbrella and took it back to their garage door. It's still raining but nothing like it was and the wind is much calmer.

Scruffie braved the storm to come over for some drinkable clean water and a few bites of food.  She was wet. I think she went back across the street and into their utility room which has no outside door. Her kittens stay there during cold/hot or stormy weather. I see their large camping cooler has blown over and is laying on the ground now.

Yesterday while watching the update on the virus  it was mentioned that the acid reducer Omeprazole that my doctor put me on makes the virus easier to get.  I need to call and ask him about that.

More even later...It's 8:30AM now and soon I want to start my cleaning when the CBS news is over..

I read in my new book a while before I fixed my lunch. For desert, I had an ice cream bar.

I got the bedroom, den, hall and living room vacuumed. Now all I lack is the dining room. Tomorrow, I will pull the chairs out of there and vacuum it. I also need to dust.

I went up to Sam's restaurant this afternoon and bought a gift certificate for Bob Avery for his birthday. He loves to eat there. His birthday is Sunday. I told the manager that I wanted the gift certificate for my brother-in-law and she asked, "Is your brother-in-law named John Brooks?" I said, "No, that is my son-in-law.....the artist" I told her in September I would be coming back in for another gift certificate for him. He loves that restaurant too. I thought that was an unlikely guess. I am over twenty years older then John. :)

It started raining again this afternoon.  I had to use my windshield wipers coming back from Independence.

I read most of the afternoon and about 4:30PM, I ate my last banana at 105 calories but lots of fiber.

If Nancy and I go to Independence for lunch tomorrow I may buy some more at Walmart there.

Her cousin, Dale, called me today to try to get me to instead get take out and eat it either in the car of here at home. I will run that by Nancy tomorrow and see what she wants to do. Sam's, where we planned to go, cleans constantly after each booth is emptied.  They wear masks and so do we until we are ready to eat. They have separation between each booth too.

Nancy does not like to feel "controlled" but it is up to her what we do.

It will be interesting how that comes out.

I read until 7:00PM when I took my bath and got ready for bed. Then after that I logged onto Amazon Prime and watched a couple of episodes of forensic Files. I went to bed shortly after 9:00PM

Wednesday and Hair Day

I slept fitfully last night. Again I slept on my right side and eventually the arm began to hurt so I turned over on my other side and worked the arm under my pillow. That helped. I need to do some adjustments on the brace. I will do that before I go to bed tonight.

And I went to bed way too early. It was 8:30PM. I had read all afternoon and my eyes were tired.

It's nearly 5:00AM now and I am up and dressed. I will go over to Coffeyville about 6:30AM and pick Bob up for breakfast. We missed last week. I think that was when he was sick with the diarrhea. I like having breakfast with him on Wednesday mornings. It gives us a chance to catch up on our news.

I will have some coffee and perhaps my chai. I will also watch the "Weather on the 8's" on the weather channel and feed any cats that have come for breakfast before I leave.

I fed six or seven cats this morning. As usual, I had Scruffie here first and then three of her kittens came and one of the yellow adolescent cats. Then just as I was settling down to relax and watch the news, Big Yellow Tom came for his breakfast.

I got both computers that had trouble with Outlook, my mail program, to work last evening. I rebooted the desktop and that fixed that one. Then I rebooted the notebook but that didn't fix that one. Later I rebooted it again and that time it fixed it. So far as I know this morning the mail on all three computers are working now.

After breakfast with Bob I will go to my hair appointment at 9:00AM, get gas at Woodshed and  then come on back home. We have no games today. This would have been Asbury Village's Bunco day but because they are an Assisted Living home and are at great risk for the virus and their people are those at extra risk because of their health problems and age, they have cancelled their day until all this passes...if it ever does. The scientists are expecting a second surge this fall. Because of people who refuse to take proper precautions and gather in large groups, the virus just gets worse.

More later...

We had our breakfast and I took Bob back home and then I went to the Woodshed and bought gas. After that, I went to the beauty shop and got my hair washed and done. Then I got my car washed and drove over to the car wash on 8th street and dried it in their dryer  Then I came on back home. There were no additional game days this week at the senior center. When I got home I went out to Sonic and got their Wacky Pack kids dinner for $2.18. (including tax). That filled me up but still l had an ice cream bar when I got home. That really filled me up. This evening, I will just have a banana for supper.

My new small purse came in the mail today. The inside of the one I was using was all torn up. It was pretty old. This one will not be so bulky either. It was a $40.00 purse I got for $25.00.

After my lunch Scruffie came for a lunch meal and I fed her. Then one of the yellow cats came and I fed her too. So far that's all that came for lunch. None of them came for supper last night. They were probably thinking there would be fireworks.

I have been playing Freecell on the computer Scott gave me a couple of years ago after he got his Apple computer. It needs a battery but I just leave it plugged in all the time. It's a hassle to put a new battery in one. I did it years ago but it's been awhile.

I'm going to get back to my book now. I am plugging away at it and am about half way through it.

More later....

Scruffie came for supper and also drank some water. After I watered the two hanging plants, I washed her water bowl and put fresh water in it. After she finished I took in the cat food bowl so the ants wouldn't get into it.

I read until 4:00PM and then came in here to watch the 4:00PM news. I will stay with it until the CBS news comes on. Sometime before 7:00PM, I will take my bath and try to stay up until 9:00PM. Maybe I can get back to the book.

Tuesday and Grocery Shopping

I slept well again and got up about 5:00AM. I dressed and had my breakfast and fed the cats. I had a crowd of cats come for breakfast. Scruffie is always there and she brought her kittens with her and the yellow adolescent cat was here too and Big Yellow Tom.  It was a crowd.

I  will get around and go to Independence today to buy groceries. I am out of frozen meals as well Chai latte and some other stuff that isn't food.

I need to trim my yard today too.

I texted Bob and we are having breakfast in the morning at 7:00AM when I pick him up.

So more later....

I went to Independence and bought my groceries and came home and put everything away. I had my frozen meal for lunch and afterward an ice cream bar. I swept off the walks after I did the trimming.

I got hold of Cox Complete Care about the Outlook problem on the notebook and the desktop computers. Both will not tolerate Outlook. They suggested I just wait for the program to fix itself. They said Cox had a time with Outlook. Everyone who has Outlook has this problem That is not true I never had any problems with it when I lived in Coffeyville.  I rebooted the desktop and that fixed that mail program. Then I tried that on this notebook but that did not help it.  Luckily the old laptop that Scott gave me still works fine.

I read all afternoon in my new book. "The Room Where it Happened" by John Bolton. So far it hasn't told me anything I hadn't already known from the CBS news over the past three years. I am about a quarter of the way through the book.

More later....

I rebooted this notebook computer again and  when it came up the second time, the mail program, Outlook, worked fine.

About 5:00PM Scruffie came for dinner so I fed her. Soon one of the yellow adolescent cats came so I fed her too.

It's just a little after 6:00PM now and when it gets closer to 7:00PM I will take my bath and try to get to bed at 9:00PM or so.

Monday and Laundry

I woke up at 5:00AM and got up to strip my bed and do laundry. I got that started and also started my breakfast I saw all kinds of cats waiting for their breakfast so I filled the dishes and set them out front. Three kittens, Scruffie and one of the yellow adolescent cats came to eat. When they finished, I brought in the food and used their water to water my hanging plant and then gave them more clean water. They finished and went back across the street.

I finished mine too and put the laundry in the dryer. The apartment is clean and the bed has been remade and I even mended the old top sheet which had developed a tear where Missy had scratched that area. It is still usable and I have three sets of sheets...two rather old. And Leslie bought me the third set when she bought me the new mattress and box spring.

More later....

About 8:15AM, Big Yellow Tom came to eat. I had taken the food in after Scruffie finished her meal.  I started o bring the food out but he was determined to come in the door. I finally closed the door and went out through the garage with his food. He met me at the garage door. I could see he had lost some weight. It had been at least a week since he had come here to eat..what with all the noise of the fireworks...speaking of didn't stop last night until way after 11:00PM...on July 5th. I don't know where enforcement in Caney is but it sure wasn't on State street. Both north and south on State Street continued to fire off noisy fireworks. I think it's disgusting how careless of other's rights many of this generation is. And I think it's just as bad that their parents don't seem to care either.

I had a frozen meal for lunch and about 1:00PM the mail came and my John Bolton book, "The Room Where it Happened" finally came. I spent some of the afternoon reading in it. So far, it sounds like just what the Trump behavior was at the beginning of his administration. I got about 50 pages of it read. I will probably read in it this evening and tomorrow too.

Scruffie came over three or four times to eat and I had to continually put the food out and take it back in to keep ants out of it. I don't know if any of them will come for supper. They didn't come for the past week as all the noise from the fireworks scared them away.

We were forecast for rain at 50% for this afternoon, but as usual, the forecast has produced nothing. I did go across the street with a grocery sack and cleaned up the mess the young son left just across the street after the 4th of July. He just left that mess in the street.

More later...

I read my new book all afternoon and into the evening. I took my bath  at 7:00PM and then went to bed  shortly after 9:00PM.

Sunday, July 5, 2020

Sunday and Online Church

I finally got to sleep last night. The dozen or so boys in my neighborhood were still shooting them off at 11:00PM. It has been that way for a week now. I think it's ridiculous  to do that for an entire week. In Coffeyville it was two days. That's reasonable.

I am having the yard mowed this afternoon. It had been only six days but it looks bad. Krystal says they will be over around 3:00PM.

I only have the dusting to do today. It didn't rain last night after all.  The weather people miss it as more then they get it right.

I have had my breakfast and texted Bob. He is just now getting his coffee too.

And I opened my door to six cats looking for breakfast. None of them came for supper last night...way too much noise for them. They were very hungry. It has been weeks since I have seen the other gray kitten. She brings three of them with her usually but she had four originally.  And I haven't seen the original gray cat that started me feeding her last year after I moved here. She was chased off several months ago by Big Yellow Tom. He might had caught her and killed her. Scruffie is gray but she is mottled...not pure gray like that mama cat. that came into my apartment that time.

More later....

Leslie texted me midmorning and asked me to come to lunch following the morning online worship service and I accepted. I dropped by "The Shed" and bought an Amish baked apple take, When I got to John and Leslie's she had just been called in....she was on call. She texted her partner, Mary Beth, and asked her to wait until 1:30PM for her to come in since she had just started lunch and wanted to eat before she came in. That was alright with Mary Beth who had just got out of the shower herself.  John cooked the hamburgers and corn on the cob and Leslie fixed onion rings and french fries. She and I had iced tea and John had Dr Pepper. We all had apple pie. I left the rest for them and took one piece for myself.

I had to come home at 3:30PM because Krystal called and was ready to mow my yard. She did a nice job.

I downloaded another free book from Amazon and read all evening until 9:00PM when I took my bath and got ready to go to bed at 10:00PM. It's July 5th and they are still shooting off fireworks here on my block..

Darn Kids!!

Saturday and Finally Vacuuming

I slept well last night and woke up with a sore arm. I evidently laid on my right side all night long and that was just too much for that shoulder. I took off the brace and turned over on my left side and tucked that sore arm under my pillow. By the time I woke up again, it was fine. I got up at 5:00AM as usual.

I have had my oatmeal and coffee and am working on my chai now.

I opened my front door at 5:45AM and half a dozen cats and kittens were waiting for their breakfast. Scruffy and three of her kittens and one of the adolescent yellow cats I call Miss Kitty were there waiting for me to bring it out. Scruffy just got a little food before her kittens crowded her out. She is patiently waiting for them to finish so she can eat some more. I took the double dish and two green dishes out so there is plenty for them all.

I never did get the dining room and den vacuumed this week. I will do that after the CBS news goes off at 8:00AM. It's only 5:55AM now and I am waiting for the 6:00AM CBS news to come on.

More later....

I needed four things from the Dollar General store so I went out there before I  began my cleaning and learned right away that not much has changed in the face mask department. We are supposed to wear a face mask every time we go outside or in a store. In fact there was a sign right there by the door that customers were supposed to be wearing face  masks now...governor's orders. There were about dozen customers in that store and I was the only one wearing a face mask.  That is so disgusting. They weren't even trying to enforce their sign. I got my groceries, paid for them and left.

More later...I still have a vacuum....

I got the vacuuming done and also started a new book.  It's another mystery.  More later....

I stayed up until 9:15PM but finally had to just give up and go to bed. I had finished my latest book anyhow and there was nothing on TV.

Friday and More Vacuuming

I slept well again last night and was was up around 5:00AM. By 6:00AM I had my bed made and my clothes on and was fixing and eating my breakfast. I soon looked out and saw Scruffie and three of her four kittens.  Later one of the adolescent cats also came for her/his breakfast. I fed them all and then brought in the bowls before the birds started in on the leftover food.

I have been watching the channel 6 news and the CBS news too. It's 8:30AM now and the CBS news doesn't go off until 10:00AM. After that, I will vacuum the dining room and den. I have no other plans for today. Once more, people are ignoring the precautions and the active cases of the virus are seriously  surging. Some people are so ignorant and selfish. We have been advised by experts to wear face masks in public and stay away from crowds of people. Especially many young people are so self absorbed that they just don't care who they infect.

More later...

Nancy's cousin's wife called me to make sure I still intended to bring in a pizza for our lunch. I told her that was my plan and I intended to do that but Pizza Hut didn't open until 11:00AM and I wanted to do something different. I went over to Nancy's and asked her what she thought of going to Independence to the Chinese buffet. She was delighted! She loves Chinese and needs to get out of the house. So that's what we did. We wore our face masks. She insisted that I let her buy my lunch since I would be driving.  I gave in and agreed. She said I drove since she is not comfortable driving out of town anymore.

I suggested we try to go out of town to eat once a week as long as she was feeling well. It's so good to get out of the house. She definitely agreed. We will wear our face masks whenever we are outside or in a store that is crowded.

When I got home, about 4:30PM, I turned on the news and will watch it until the CBS news comes on and then watch that too.

I finished my book last night and got to bed about 10:00PM.

More later...

I watched some Amazon Prime this evening and also brought in my two plants. We are forecast for rain and I don't know what kind of wind might come with the rain. There is quite a whistling wind out there right now. I took my bath about 7:00PM and am going to try to stay up longer.  Sometimes I sleep better when I stay up later. It's only 8:45PM right now.

Thursday and Laundry and Cleaning

I slept well last night but woke up early around 4:00AM. I knew I would just toss and turn if I stayed in bed so I just got up and dressed and had my breakfast.

I have laundry in the dryer now and will swifter the bare floors, and vacuum the bedroom, halls and living room later this morning. It's only 5:30AM now so I have plenty of time.

I am watching the channel 6 news right now.

I have a mystery from yesterday. I went to Walmart yesterday after my hair appointment and bought a few things I needed. One of those things was my Chai Latte. It was on my ticket so I know I got it but when I got home yesterday afternoon and took my groceries out of the car and put them away, I didn't have that box of Chai Latte. I went back out and checked the car, under the seat and everywhere but it was not there. I had put away an empty cart so I know I didn't leave it in the cart. It's a mystery.

I hate to admit it, but since channel 6 improved their signal last week, I can really tell the difference in my TV picture. It's much sharper.

I haven't opened the front door yet to see how many cats are out there waiting for their breakfast. It's almost 6:00AM so I guess I should do that.

So more later...

Sure enough, there was Scruffie and one of the adolescent yellow cats and three of Scruffie's kittens  ....the yellow one, the black one and one of the gray kittens.  They are all eating like they haven't eaten in a week. I know better then that. They have evidently found  a piece of paper and torn it all up and left it on the ground right outside my front door. When they have finished eating and gone, I will go back out there and clean that up and water that plant. It's supposed to rain today or tonight and tomorrow too.  Wouldn't you know...I washed my car yesterday while I was in Coffeyville. Maybe I will just leave it in the garage.

More even later...

After I fed the cats I trimmed the hedge again. It still needs  some more help but I am trying to even up the height.

I called Nancy before lunch and her cousin's wife answered the phone. I mentioned we had planned to go to lunch and she advised against it . She said the coronavirus was too virulent for us to go to a restaurant. So instead I ate the rest of my Schwan's cashew chicken from Tuesday.

Scruffie came by for lunch so I fed her. None of her kittens came with her this time. She is finished now so I had better get that dish back in.

It's  thundering now and evidently it's going to rain.  It hasn't started yet but it could start anytime. Scruffie came back again so I put the food back out. Now she's gone again. I should get it in before the rain starts .

More even later....

I vacuumed the bedroom, halls and living room and swiftered (mopped) the bathroom, foyer and kitchen bare floors. Tomorrow I will vacuum the den and dining room. That will do it for another week. I will still have to dust.

I am watching the channel 6 4:00PM news now. I have read in my new free book from Amazon ever since I finished the housework.

It never did rain here.

More later...

Wednesday and a Restless Night

I don't know why but I woke up several times in the night and had trouble getting back to sleep. That's unusual anymore. It's 4:30AM now and I got up to check if I had enough in my checking account to cover the rent, etc. It will be the 8th before I get my Social Security and that's earlier then usual so it shouldn't be a problem. It's just one of those restless nights. Too much sitting around reading, I guess, and too much TV. I may as well just stay up now.

Later, I will check with Bob and see if he wants to go to breakfast at Eggbert's in Coffeyville. I will need to go to the bank, get my hair done at Toni's, go to the library there, get stamps at the post office, have a light lunch, and then go to the senior center for Bunco. Afterward, I will go to John and Leslie's for her birthday doings. I hope her gift comes today. She is concerned about me being around the folks that she works with because of the virus. I may just drop off her gift later and come on back home.

More later....I need to make my bed and get dressed.

I called Bob when I didn't hear from him earlier and he had already had cinnamon toast for his breakfast so we will do breakfast another day.

I have been thinking about Leslie's concerns about exposing me to her co-workers and decided to take that concern away from her. She is right anyhow. Her co-workers have been exposed to all sorts of people there at the crisis center and she was concerned that I might be exposed to the virus and at my age I am most at risk,  So I told her this morning that I understood her concern and would come early before they came and be gone before they got there. I will put her gift in the car and take it with me to Coffeyville even without the other part of it.

I still have my errands to run in Coffeyville besides my hair appointment and the Bunco game.

So, more later...

The afternoon worked out fine. Janet took temperatures  at the senior center.

I left at 3:00PM and went out to Leslie's. I only stayed an hour and left after she gave me my home made ice cream. She seemed happy with the wine

I know there are troubling memories about this year. I know every time of our lives , even the worst of them have their good memories too but I believe this year has been one of the most depressing in ten years. I hate being isolated from my family and friends....but I have dealt with it. I have done a lot of things I usually never have time for.,,,cleaned out drawers, weeded out old stuff from my file cabinet, worked on my flowerbeds...lots of stuff like that. I refuse to stay depressed.

It is 5:30PM now and I am watching the news.

At 7:00PM, I will take my bath and later at 9:00PM go on to bed.

Tuesday and Possible Rain

I slept well last night again and got up about 5:00AM and dressed and fixed my breakfast.  I have had my oatmeal and coffee and even fed Scruffie and three of her kittens. One of the yellow ones, a gray one and the black one came with Scruffie. They finished and went back across the street.

Big Yellow Tom Cat came back for breakfast after they left. I am glad those black dogs didn't catch him but he must not have eaten in the past three days because he cleaned up all the leftover cat food. He is gone now too.

I don't have a plan for today. Maybe I will call Nancy later after she wakes up and see if she is up for company.

I sent out four birthday cards yesterday to members of the church. Rick, Leslie, Chato and Johnna all have birthdays this week. I miss seeing everyone at church. We haven't had real church since April.

More later...

I watched the CBS news this morning.

I fixed that cashew chicken I got from Schwan's months ago and had frozen all this time. It was alright but I much prefer Great China's.  I ate half of it and saved half of it for Thursday. I also watered the two plants out there. I don't know whether we will get that rain or not. It really doesn't look like it. I did go out and sweep off the walk.

I was supposed to get Leslie's birthday gift in the mail today but it didn't come. Her birthday is tomorrow so maybe it will get here before I go out to their house tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow is my usual breakfast with Bob, my hair appointment and Bunco at the senior center. I will also drop by their library and return the book I borrowed there last week. I had already read that one and just didn't remember the title.

I started a new book this morning.  It is another John Grisham book and they are usually pretty good reading and am not particularly impressed thus far. It is called "Fetching Raymond: A Story from the Ford County".. I finished the book this evening. It turned out better then I thought.

I sent out a devotional ailing this afternoon. I always thing it's good to stay in touch with the congregation. A devotional is a good way to do that.

Tomorrow is my daughter Leslie's 63rd birthday. She will make homemade ice cream and I intend to go to that and wear my mask. Her friends will go swimming in their pool. I will stay out of that.  Although if it's nice I will sit outside. That's safer. When I go out of my apartment, I wear a mask. I will take my brother-in-law to breakfast tomorrow morning, go to the beauty shop, take a book back to the library there and afterward go to Bunco at the senior center tomorrow afternoon. Janet takes our temperature when we go in the senior center and we wear face masks.

I took my bath after 6:00PM and will try to stay awake until my regular bedtime.

At about 6:30PM, I ate my nightly banana and a breakfast bar. That should hold me until breakfast.

So far today we have not had rain.

Monday and Another Mowing Day

I slept well again last night and got up close to 5:00AM made my bed and dressed for the day. I have had my breakfast and coffee and chai latte.

Scruffie and all her kittens came for breakfast this morning. She didn't come for supper last night so I figured she would be here first thing this morning. I haven't seen any of the yellow cats though...not yet anyhow. I am concerned about Big Yellow Tom since those two black dogs were chasing him yesterday. And of course there are two other younger yellow cats too and I haven't seen either of them either.

I would like to get my yard mowed this afternoon. With the rain last week, it really grew. I have texted Krystal to ask if they can do it today.

More later...

I heard back from Krystal and they will be here at 2:00PM to mow. I didn't get any mail and I ate a frozen meal for lunch and had an ice cream bar afterward. I read my Kindle all afternoon and finished the book I had downloaded.

They arrived at 2:00PM and the daughter mowed for me. After I paid them and they left. I took the trimmer out and trimmed again. That's good for another week.

It's 3:45PM now and I need to go to Dollar General for a few things on my list. It's terribly humid this afternoon. I definitely will have to water those plants again this evening.

More later...

I went out to Dollar general and got the few things I needed and got them put away.

I played a game on the laptop computer and later watered the flowers outside and left them outside. It isn't supposed to rain tonight.

I dread the noise tonight and the rest of the week. Here in Caney they let kids do their fireworks for a full week. Last night that noise went on until 11:00PM

No cats came for supper. tonight. Maybe the fireworks scares them off.

I will rake my bath at 7:00PM and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.

Sunday and Online Church

I slept well again last night and I wore the brace again. I got up at 5:00AM as usual, made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I have had my breakfast and am working on my coffee now.

When I opened the front door this morning only gray Scruffie was there. She has eaten and is gone. None of the other cats have come for their breakfast. Last evening Big Yellow Tom Cat was here having his supper when a small black pickup came by and the man driving let two big black dogs out to chase Big Yellow Tom. Of course, Tom took off as fast as his legs could carry him and ran across the street and into a bush. The pickup driver then picked up his dogs and they left the neighborhood. I THINK Tom got away. At least I didn't see the two dogs tearing at an animal.  I was furious! I wish I could have got his license number. I would have turned him in. I haven't seen Big Yellow Tom yet this morning and he is usually here for breakfast.

Gray Scruffie seldom misses a meal. She is still nursing the four kittens too. She is pretty thin.

More later....

I know every time of our lives , even the worst of them have their good memories too but I believe this year has been one of the most depressing in ten years. I hate being isolated from my family and friends....but I have dealt with it. I have done a lot of things I usually never have time for.,,,cleaned out drawers, weeded out old stuff from my file cabinet, worked on my flowerbed...lots of stuff like that. I refuse to stay depressed. I even washed windows here at the apartment last week. And I painted my birdhouse.

I just had a nice surprise from my daughter. She is having homemade ice cream on Wednesday, which is her birthday, and she just  texted me and invited me out. She is having some of her co-workers out to celebrate too. She will be 63,..and looks about 43. I am so delighted. I didn't know what plans she and John might have so I hated to try to make any plans with her . That Wednesday will be special!

I will probably have breakfast as usual with Bob and then get my hair done and go to the library and have lunch somewhere and then go to the senior center for Bunco. After that, I will go out to their home for the party. It will be a special day for her and also for me and the others.

More later...

I saw a large black cat come to eat and I didn't have the food out there. I assume that black cat is the father of that little black kitten of Scruffie's. He may be the father of the entire four kitten litter.

Bob texted me this morning to offer to buy me lunch if I wanted to choose a good place to eat.  I suggested Sam's in Independence because I know he really enjoys that place.  I will drive over to his place and we will ride up together. I am to be at his place at 12:15PM. so I will leave here shortly before 12:00Noon. It takes me about 20 minutes to get there.

I have watered my potted plants outside. They are doing well in the sunshine as long as I water them twice a day. As long as it is in the 90's I will need to do that.

More even later...

I watched my Sunday morning programs this morning and also "Face the Nation" with John Dickerson.  It's amazing the flurry of new cases in California, Arizona and Florida ...but especially Texas. Washington State also has had a flurry of new ones. Most of the new cases are kids under 35. They go to the beaches and sit close together without masks and dare the virus to get them...and it is. Whenever I go out to the Dollar General  or Walmart, I wear a mask. In Coffeyville, you cannot go into the post office without one and you can't go into the library without one. That's smart. When I went to the senior center on Wednesday for game day, Janet took everyone's temperature. You couldn't come in without your temperature being taken. That's smart too! Everyone John talked to said it would be wonderful for the President and Vice President to get on board with face masks and show some leadership. The president keeps saying the virus will fade away by itself without a cure. Even his expect on it in Washington says that will not happen. As long as he does those things and says those things, the people who credit him with credibility will use that as an excuse to avoid doing it themselves.

And the President keeps talking about "fake news". There  is no legitimate fake news.  The fake news is on facebook and online and with twitter and that kind of thing. The legitimate news sources are attempting to keep everyone advised  of the truth, I check everything said with politifact.

More later....I will leave in 30 minutes for Coffeyville and lunch with Bob at Sam's in Independence.

Bob and I had a very good lunch at Sam's in Independence.  Afterward when I got back to his apartment, I drove back home and spent the afternoon doing odds and ends.

At 7;00PM I watched the church service from Springfield Missouri. Leslie had a good part in it too and John Wite's sermon was good too .

I haven't seen any cats today or this evening. When I left for Coffeyville to meet Bob, I noticed Scruffie was sitting by my front door hoping for food. But I was leaving for Coffeyville then and figured she would catch me this evening. I check just a couple of minutes ago and there were no cats waiting for supper either. They might be good and hungry by morning,.

I took my bath at 7:00PM after that was over and got myself ready for bed. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM although I may not be able to sleep. Caney lets the kids do their fireworks for a week and they began last night. They were still shooting stuff off at 11:00PM  last night.

Saturday and Reading

I tried something different last night. My arm has not hurt in weeks and so I tried to sleep without the brace. It worked out pretty well but I think I will wear the brace....just to be sure. I don't want it to start to hurt again.

When I opened the door this morning Scruffie was waiting for her breakfast. I put out three bowls again. The double bowl I always put out and the two blue's a good thing I did. Just as she started to eat, the kittens came running across the street.   They ate two to a bowl and Scruffie abandoned her bowl and left it to three kittens to share and she went to the double bowl to eat. Then some of them joined her there too. She seems to be finished now but at least two kittens are still eating.  What a crew!!

I have had my oatmeal and a breakfast bar too. I am working on my coffee now.

All the cats are gone now. I don't think any of the larger yellow cats have eaten yet so I will leave the bowls out there for awhile for them.

I am getting quite a list of groceries now. I will probably just go out to Dollar General to see if I can get everything on the list.

I have been making headway on that large book. I think I just have 100 pages left to read.  That's good since I downloaded another free book from Amazon on my Kindle last evening.

Speaking of last night, a strange thing happened while I was watching Amazon Prime last night. Suddenly Tivo rebooted and I had to wait several minutes while it downloaded and connected again. I texted Keith to see if he ever had anything like that happen with his Tivo and he said "more often then I like". I have had my Tivo for a couple of years and that was a first.  But it did let me reconnect to my show and evidently nothing was lost. That was scary though. I would sure hate to lose my Tivo. About the only thing I watch on regular TV is the news, "Bull", (which is doing reruns now) Lucky Dog (same thing) and a couple of shows on Sunday morning about animals. There just aren't any other shows on regular TV that I care anything about. They are either too violent or too silly.

Well, Scruffie and the black kitten and the yellow kitten are back for another course of cat food. Now even the gray kitten has joined them That one looks like Scruffie.

CBS news is on so I will get back to this later...

I had just brought in the cat bowls and was about to sit back down when I looked out and two of the larger yellow cats were looking for their food. So, I filled the dishes again and took them out for them. This must be cat heaven for them.

Back to the news....

Thunder started and soon it was pouring down rain I guess I will leave the flowers out there. The rain will probably be good for then. I will watch them and see how they do. If they start getting beat down I will brave the elements and go out and get them and bring them in..

More later...It's 7:53AM now.

After lunch I will go out to Dollar General and get my groceries.

I had my lunch at lunchtime and then went back to my book "Epidemics and Society" . Finally in the middle of the afternoon, I finished it. This book was written in 2018, right after the Ebola epidemic in Africa.

In conclusion, the lessons he brings forth from his experience in medicine and dealing with epidemics are three:

First: is the need of establishment of functioning health care systems everywhere.

Second: it is essential to ensure direction and coordination from an internationalist  perspective  through a well funded competently staffed, and ever vigilant World Health Organization.

Lastly:  the relationship between the global international system and public health cannot be ignored. An economic system that neglects what economists euphemistically call "negative externalities" will ultimately exact a heavy cost in terms of public health.

We are a global economy in cases like epidemics. As we have seen once again, treating these epidemics so loosely just causes them to become pandemics. There seems to be no organized coordination between countries. This is the third book I have read on these epidemics and pandemics and after each one I realize how uncoordinated and political they become.

One thing the author says that certainly makes sense is this "Under the administration of Donald Trump, the federal government has also declined to provide leadership, to devise strategies to confront the problems, and to fund existing programs that tackle pandemics".

It's 4:45PM now and I will play a game fro awhile and then at 5:30PM, I will watch the CBS news.then at 7:00PM, I will take my bath and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM

Friday and Perhaps Lunch with Nancy

I slept well again last night. It is so a relief that I don't have to deal with a painful shoulder any more since I started using the brace.. Thanks so much for Leslie, who took a chance on this rotator cuff brace. I didn't know such a thing existed.

I got up around 5:00AM  and dressed, made my bed and have had my breakfast, When I opened the front door, Scruffie and Big Yellow Tom and one of the yellow adolescent cats were just waiting for their breakfast. I took out the double bowl and both blue bowls. Only the adolescent cat is still out there. The others ate fast and left. I haven't seen any of the kittens this morning. Evidently Scruffie went back to their home in my neighbor's garage and is nursing those kittens. As much as she eats, she is still very skinny.

I watched the weather channel until the "weather on the 8s" came on and then turned to channel 6 news.

Everything here at home is caught up now...the laundry and the cleaning. I will need to dust the apartment and that's it.

If Nancy is feeling well enough today we will go to lunch. She was feeling well yesterday but had a doctor's appointment in Bartlesville with her neurologist in the afternoon so we made an appointment for lunch today. We will see.....

More later. I'd better get those bowls back in the apartment before the ants or birds find them. I feed plenty of cats but the birds and the ants can fend for themselves.

Scruffie came back and sat by the door waiting for the food dish so I put it back out. She ate a few mouthfuls and then stopped and looked across the street. In a short while her little yellow kitten came over and began eating and Scruffie left.  Now the little kitten has finished and I had better get that dish back in again before the ants or the birds find it.

Strange how she tries to take care of those kittens.

More later...

I had just barely got the food dish back in and used the cat water to water my plant and then put out fresh water for them ...then Scruffie  came back to eat some more. So I put the cat food back out. She ate a few mouthfuls and then left again.  One of her kittens is sitting across the street looking this direction. It may come to eat so I will wait awhile again before taking the food back in.

It's only 7:55AM right now. The CBS news comes on at 8:00AM so I will watch that before I begin my dusting.

More even later...

The CBS News just went off and I called Nancy. She seems to be doing well today and has even had her hair done. I told her if she was still feeling well by 11:30AM, I would be by to take her to lunch today. She was delighted. She said she was dying to get out of the house. I told her to let me know if she wasn't still well by 11:30AM. That's an hour and a half away. We might go up to Independence to Big Cheese. I will ask her which she would like. We talked about Copan Truck Stop but there are options. Even our Eggberts here in Caney is open.

More later...

I picked up Nancy at 12:00PM. I was there at 11:30AM as planned but her cousins wife was there so we didn't get away until 12:00PM. Then we decided to go to Independence to Big Cheese. It was a lovely day and Nancy seemed to really enjoy getting out and seeing some scenery besides her house. We had a good visit.

When we got back to her house she wanted me to come in for a visit. I had no particular plans so I did. Soon her cousin's wife came back and as we were visiting, her other cousin's widow came in too. I stayed a while later and then came on home. I told Nancy as long as she was staying well, we would go to eat out at least once a week, She was pleased about that.

Scruffie was waiting for me for her dinner when I got home.

It is 5:34PM now and I will watch the CBS news. Afterward I will take my bath about 7:00PM and try to stay up until 9:00PM when I plan to go to bed.

Thursday and Laundry

I slept well again last night and was up at 5:00AM. I had my breakfast and fed a bunch of cats. There were three yellow cats, Scruffie and all four of her kittens. I put out the double dish, both blue bowls and a square plastic dish all with cat food.

Scruffie stays close to her kittens to make sure none of the yellow cats come back and run them off and eats their food.  There are plenty of bowls of food but they are very possessive of their food.

I will do laundry today and also vacuum the den and dining room. I will wash my new pjs in lukewarm water and hang them in the shower to dry. If I put them in the dryer, they might shrink. It's 6:05AM right now but I will wait another twenty minutes before I text Bob to see if he is up.

The cats are all finished and gone now so I will get those bowls back in the apartment.

The cats just keep coming. All  the kittens and Scruffie came back with them to make sure none of the yellow cats ran them off this time. After they left the adolescent yellow cat came to eat. Now I believe the one bowl is now empty so I will bring it in.

Our county, Montgomery County, Kansas,  now has 31 cases of the virus and 8 of those are active. People are just not being careful enough. I bought stamps in Coffeyville yesterday and we were required to wear face masks to enter the post office. Then I dropped by the library and we were required to wear face masks there too. I think that is fine. At least we are attempting to protect others.

More later...I had better get the laundry going.

I have the laundry nearly done. I put a few things back in the dryer to get even dryer. As soon as the CBS news is off I will vacuum the den and dining room. It's only a few minutes until then.

 So more even later....

I got the vacuuming done and watched some Amazon Prime TV...and during one program I fell asleep in the chair and when I woke up I decided to play a game on the laptop in the den. Anything to stay awake. About 11:30AM the mailman came and then I fixed and ate a Schwans frozen chicken pot pie for my lunch.

Earlier I went back out in the back yard and finished the trimming. Then I watered the plants again and fed Scruffie again too. That cat is still nursing those kittens too and so she eats off and on all day.

I also talked to Nancy on the phone this morning.. She seems better today. Her cousin and his wife are taking her to Bartlesville to see the Neurologist this afternoon  They seem to have convinced her she has dementia...she may have some... but it certainly isn't Alzheimer's Disease. My sister died of that and what Nancy has is nothing like Alzheimer's..I will call her tomorrow noon and see if she is up to having lunch.

I read awhile in my large book and then watered the plant on the patio and deadheaded it. I water those plants outside twice a day to keep them blooming.

I also played a game on the laptop computer for awhile. It is 4:15PM now and I am watching the 4:00PM Channel 6 news.. At 5:30PM I will watch the CBS News and then read awhile on my book. I took my bath around 7:00PM and will read awhile more then go play a game of Freecell on the laptop computer.until time to go to bed.

So more later...

It's nearly bedtime now so I guess I will eat some popcorn and then later go on to bed. I had my nightly banana earlier this evening.

Wednesday and Game Day

I slept very well again last night. I got up at 5:00AM as usual. I have had my oatmeal and even fed the cats... at  least Big Yellow Tom and Scruffy and their adolescent yellow cat came. All the kittens came too but the yellow adolescent ran them off...all but the yellow one. It persisted. The others all ran back across the street.

When Bob is up I will ask him if he wants to go to breakfast. Today is game day at the senior center and I will stay over the lunch hour and attend. Before then, I want to check their Dollar General store to see if the have my bubble bath. The last time I checked, they did not have it. I have checked our Dollar General twice and neither time did they have the bubble bath. Walmart is carrying a watered down version of theirs nowadays.

My hair appointment is at 9:30AM this morning. It is so short I could have done it myself. I enjoy having Toni do it though.

More later..Bob still hasn't answered me.

Yes, he wanted to have breakfast. I got over there a little early so I went by and got my car washed.

Then I picked him up and we had breakfast. Afterward I went to the library and got a book and then to the senior center to leave my treat. I went to my hair appointment and really liked my hair this time. She put a little back combing in it this time.

I am watching the CBS news now.

The TV says the nation has had a huge number jump in cases of the Coronavirus.  Trump is denying any problem and is going on to New Jersey anyhow. The man is simply ignorant.

I spent the afternoon at the senior center playing games with three others. We were all very careful. I got home about 5:00PM. I read my mail and took the results up to the mailbox. I fed Scruffie and she was the only one that came this least so far.

More later....

I watched the news until 6:30PM and then took my bath. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM. It has been a big day.

Tuesday and Yard Mowing

I slept well again and was up at 5:00AM as usual. I worked on my "classmates" list... bringing it up to date... until 9:30PM last night when I went on to bed.

I did finally call Dean last evening and sure enough, Gay was right, his computer was down. Rod was working on it as we spoke. They were well... which was what I wanted to know. They live in Topeka and that is a large city with lots of cases.

This morning I have had my breakfast and have fed three cats. Scruffie, as usual was waiting for her breakfast when I opened the front door this morning. Two yellow cats came as soon as they saw me putting out food. Scruffie has finished her breakfast and is just lying on my front entrance walk enjoying the nice morning. It appears the two yellow cats have eaten and just left. None of the kittens have come this morning. They may be sleeping in. :) Scruffie is back for a drink of water now. She is hanging around.

Krystal and one of her daughters will be here this afternoon to mow if the yard is dry by then. I think we had a little rain last night in the middle of the night.

We have food pantry today but I don't need a thing. If Suzanne asks me if I want her to pick up food for me I will tell her I have plenty of food on hand.

Last night I was checking  the case load of the coronavirus in our county and discovered we had another new case. I texted Leslie about it and she sent out a text to the congregation cancelling church for another three weeks. I am so sick of no church.  I prepared letters for those who do not have smart phones and will get them in the mail today. Also, at Chetopa, over in adjoining Labette county, the nursing home has 24 cases. Nursing homes are just breeding grounds for the pandemic.

More later....

I read most of the afternoon and stopped when Krystal and her daughter came to mow. After they got the yard mowed, and left, I started trimming. I got about a third of it done when the battery ran down so I took it out and put it on the charger. It may be tomorrow evening before I get to it if it doesn't get charged in time to do it this evening.

So I went back to working on the list of my classmates....numbering them according to whether they are alive, deceased or lost.

After I finished that, I went back to reading my book. I am now on page 367 out of 505. I may finish it on Thursday.

I am watching the 4:00PM news now.  That will continue until 5:30PM when the CBS news comes on. I checked the battery about 5:45PM and it was charged enough to finish the trimming.. It looks very nice now. I didn't put the battery back on the charger. It still had plenty of charge.

When I came back in, Scruffie was waiting for her dinner and she had two yellow cats with her. So I used the last of my cat food and put it out there for them. As soon as they finish, I will go out to Dollar General and get the five things on my list....including cat food.

It's almost 6:30PM now and I will take my bath at 7:00PM and get ready for bed at 9:00PM

Monday and a Trip to Chanute

I slept well again last night. I was up at 5:00AM and eating my breakfast and having my coffee and Chai Latte..

Several cats and kittens came for their breakfast early. Some had come last night but certainly not all of them.  I fed them and then brought in the food before the ants got to it.

I will leave for Chanute at 9:30AM. It's a bit further from Caney. I am supposed to meet Gay at Opie's at 11:30AM. I may stop at their Walmart store and their Merle Norman store if I am way too early.

If it doesn't rain, I will have the yard mowed tomorrow. I put the plants back outside this morning and watered them well. They can use the sunshine.

More later...

I left for Chanute at 9:30AM and drove over 65 miles up there for my visit. We had a nice lunch and an even nicer visit.  Gay has offered to drive with me to Scott and Esther's home for a 4 or 5 day visit. I am not sure whether to take her up on that offer or not..She suggested we drive up on a Thursday or  Friday and stay over the weekend and then come back home Monday or Tuesday. I am mulling that over. It would be a two day trip down there and two days back. I would love to see the kids and their new home but am undecided whether that would be a good idea during this pandemic. I will mull it over further.

I had a very good visit with Gay.

I had a text from Marilyn Rutledge on my way back home from Chanute. They are having game day on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00PM. I told her I intend to be there.  I will perhaps got to breakfast with Bob and then after I take him home, go to my hair appointment. I don't think I will need any groceries since I got some at Walmart in Independence yesterday. But I will go to game day at the senior center in the afternoon.

I watered both pots of flowers. It's 90 degrees out there and they have been out all day in the hot sun.

More even later....

I came in to watch the news at 4:00PM and am still watching the CBS News too. It's nearly 6:00PM now.

I did call Dean, as Gay suggested and sure enough, his computer was down. Rod was working on it as we spoke. He and Rod are still well. I was afraid the silence meant they were sick and perhaps hospitalized. Luckily that was not the case.

I discovered that the county had another case of the virus and told Leslie about it. She chose to shut down church again. We wil plan to open again on July 17th if there are no more cases in our county.

The adjoining county, Labette County, has 24 cases in the nursing home at Chetopa.

I worked on updating my class register until 9:30PM, when I finally went to bed

Sunday and Online Church

I slept well again last night. I got up about 5:00AM and had my breakfast and coffee and am going to have my Chai latte next.

I had two adult cats here for breakfast and two gray one and the yellow one. It was Scruffie and one of the adolescent yellow ones. They have eaten now and are gone back across the street.  I should get that cat food back in the apartment soon.

I haven't heard anything from Dean, my classmate, in several weeks. I have e-mailed him two or three times to see if he and Rod, his son, are alright but have not had an answer...which is strange..he usually answers me right back. I am hoping he and Rod are o.k. They live in Topeka and the cities have large amounts of virus patients.

I was reading the New York Times online this morning and they said Trump's rally was a disappointment in numbers and that his speech was disjointed. Why am I not surprised.

Also the Bolton book is being allowed to be published  this week. I had preordered it.

It looks like the Juneteenth celebration was a big success. Tulsa's channel 6 hasn't had much to say about the Trump rally.

At 11:00AM, I will watch the  church service from Ontario Canada.

Bob says it is raining lightly in Coffeyville. Nothing here yet. But we are forecast for storms tonight.

More later....

After watching Trump's disjointed  remarks this morning , I think Joe Biden can beat him in November.

I watched the worship service from Ontario, Canada at 11:00AM this morning. As usual, it was very good. Maybe I will watch the one from Springfield Missouri this evening. It depends.... I want to watch 60 Minutes this evening too.

About halfway through the afternoon I realized I only had one frozen meal left and very little milk.  I needed gas for the mower too before Krystal and the daughter come this week to mow. So I went up to Independence to get gas and stop at Walmart there and get my frozen meals and milk and since I only had one banana left, I got bananas too.

Then I came back home. It is only 3:25PM now. I will read awhile on my book.

So, more even later....

Saturday, June 20, 2020

Saturday and Another Boring Day

I slept well again last night and got up about 5:00AM. I have made my bed and dressed and eaten my breakfast.

Two yellow cats showed up for their breakfast. They have finished now and one is gone. The other is watching across the street to see if any of the cats over there are going to come to eat the rest of the food.  So far no more are coming but I imagine it is just a matter of time.

No rain yet today. I am going to put the plants back out if it is going to be clear. I already put the one on the patio out there and watered it. When the cats are gone, I will put the geranium plant back out front. They need some sunshine after being in all day yesterday.

Sure enough, I went back outside to take the trash out and also refill the bowls and the yellow cats left and Scruffie came running over to eat. Her yellow kitty is sitting over across the street and I imagine it will be just a matter of time and it will come over to eat. I see the gray one ran into the hole where the garage door is hanging. The man that lives there came out from around his truck and that scared the kittens back into the garage. Now Scruffie left to join her kittens. The gray one and the yellow one are back under the truck trying to work up the courage to come eat the cat food.

It's supposed to rain again this afternoon and the rest of the week.

More later...

I played frecell until 110:30AM and then came in and watched "Lucky Dog" of my favorite programs. After that was over I ate my lunch ...a frozen meal from Walmart "sweet and sour chicken" . It was o.k. Afterward I had one of my ice cream bars from Schwans. They are very good..... 250 calories though. I really have to limit myself on those.

I got back to my book after that. Epidemics and Society".  It is quite involved. and covers most of the various worldwide epidemics.  I am on page 295 now and the book is 505 I have awhile yet to go.

It's noon now and I am waiting for the mail. It is later on Saturdays when Charles doesn't bring it. The mail woman brings it later.

More later...

Al I got in the mail was a  survey from the Trump organization. He will love the way I filled it out. I would vote for him or give him a dime for his campaign if he was the only person on the ballet.

I got way too many groceries from Suzanne yesterday and they needed to be refrigerated and I had no room in my frig for them so I took what I could use and then ran the rest over to Sycamore Landing's free table. They will be able to use them. I don't want them to go to waste.

It never did rain this afternoon even though it was forecast.

More even later...

When I got back home I read in my book again until the president arrived in Tulsa. I watched Pence's remarks but just couldn't bear to watch Trump's speech.

Instead I took my bath at 7:00PM and played some FreeCell on the computer. I had downloaded Cox Complete Care earlier. Outlook refused to work on the notebook. It took the tech awhile but he got it fixed. I hope it stays fixed. It's almost 8:00PM now and I think I will go back to my book until 9:00PM. when I will go on to bed.

Friday and No Lunch Out

I slept very well last night. I got up shortly before 5:00AM and made the bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I have had my breakfast and when I opened the door Scruffie was there waiting for her breakfast. No other cats have braved the rain.  I went out and swept off the doorway area and doormat. I thought she might want to lay there out of the rain but she evidently wanted to get back to her kittens after her breakfast.

I talked to Nancy last evening and she is feeling good again. She wants to eat lunch out today and I thought that was a good idea. I will pick her up at 11:30AM.

Dale, Nancy's cousin, called me last night to say he thought taking Nancy out for lunch was a good idea. He thinks the med they have been giving her for her memory is what is making her sick to her stomach so much of the time so they have cut it back to one a day instead of two a day. She was feeling good yesterday and wanted to go to Copan for lunch today so I agreed to take her. She is not comfortable driving out of town. I told him I always drove. He says she is sleeping much of the time and when she does that, she doesn't eat.

Personally I don't think Nancy has Alzheimers at all and she may have some trouble with her memory but she is almost 86 years old and that is not uncommon. My sister, Phyllis, had Alzheimers and in fact, died of it. Nancy told me almost ten years ago that she had been diagnosed with Alzheimers but she is perfectly lucid even today...years later. She shows none of the usual confusion or hostility. There are several kinds of dementia but this looks nothing like Alzheimers.

It is raining lightly today and in fact is forecast for the rest of the weekend until Tuesday.  I brought the plants in and watered them in the house last night.  I didn't want wind or even excessive rain to spoil them. The geranium is beginning to bloom again.

I may vacuum the bedroom, halls and living room today. All I did yesterday was wash the bare floors  and wipe down the countertops. I can vacuum the dining room and den later.

More later....

I got the bedroom and halls and living room vacuumed and was getting ready to go pick up Nancy when her cousin's wife called to tell me she was sick to her stomach again. So I will fix myself some lunch here. Poor Nancy...I hope they can figure out what is wrong with her stomach. They are taking her to Bartlesville to the doctor on Monday. They will do some more tests and blood work then.

More later....

I have had a frozen lunch and an ice cream bar for dessert.  Then after I got my mail I took it to the mail box outside the post office and got it in the mail.

I was going to go out to Dollar General and get some more cran grape juice but it's raining too hard to get out of the car and go in. I have enough for today and possibly tomorrow anyhow.

Scruffie came for lunch and ate some of the food I set out for her but she soon left. None of the other cats have come today. It has rained all day so far.

More later...

Scruffie came back for supper and after some hesitation, three of her four kittens came too and Big Yellow Tom cat came and ate first.  It was after he left that Scruffie and the kittens came. They are so cute. One is yellow and one is like Scruffie...kind of mottled gray.. and one is black. I don't know what happened to the fourth was another gray kitten. I see the garage door of the neighbor across the street has caved in even more at the bottom and the cats can now get in their garage. That is probably a better place for the family to live then under that shed.

I am doing my towel and underwear laundry now.

At 7:00PM, I took my bath and will read awhile until 9:00PM when I usually go to bed.

Thursday and a Surprise

I woke up pretty early this morning and I was dreading having to restart my Tivo and go through that experience again. What do you know! Everything worked fine and I didn't have to do a thing!

I had my oatmeal and coffee and will soon be working on my chai latte.

Scruffy was here for breakfast this morning and I fed her and she left and then one of the yellow cats came and ate too. It is gone now too. I will keep an eye on the food out there and if no birds or slugs come to eat the food that is left, I will leave it out there for awhile for some of the other cats. In fact, Scruffy seems to be coming back across the street now. She eats a little and then leaves and comes back again later for more.  Usually I have to take it in and then back out again when she shows up again.

More later...

I asked Bob to go to breakfast with me this morning and he was willing so I went back over to Coffeyville and picked him up at 7:00AM and we went to breakfast at Eggberts there. After that I came back home and washed the bare floors. I enjoyed hearing about their birthday trip. Joanne also had her house painted and after I dropped Bob off, I went by her house and looked at her new paint Job. It looked very nice.  He had bought her a couple of Boston ferns and hung them on ether side of her garage. They also looked nice.

I read part of the afternoon. watered my plants and was here when the Schwans man came with my order. I had ordered chicken pot pies and ice cream bars. After I had my lunch I had one of those ice cream bars.

Scruffie came for supper and I put her food out for her. She had pretty much finished eating when  Suzanne came and brought me some produce. Then Scruffy ran off. I don't know whether she will be back later or not. Suzanne  saw the new hose and the hose holder and was happy that they looked so good. John did a neat job of installing it.
In a little while I will eat my usual banana for supper. It is 5:15PM now and I have the evening to either read or watch Amazon Prime.

I will take my bath at 7:00PM and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM as usual.

Wednesday and a Hair Day

I will drive over to Coffeyville later today. Bob and Joanne are going to Pawhuska to see the Pioneer Woman display and have lunch there to celebrate Joanne's birthday today. So Bob and I will not have breakfast today. My hair appointment is at 9:30AM this morning . I will stop by the bank to get the week's cash before I get my hair done. I want to go by their Walmart store and see if I can find a rack for my new hose in the back yard. I don't want to just leave it laying on the ground. I also have three or four other things on my list. I will probably fill my car up with gas too before coming back home.

I plan to eat at Sonic here at noon.  On Wednesdays they have their Wacky Pack special for $1.99 plus tax. That's two large chicken strips and either tater tots or fries and a small drink.

Tonight Cox will work on their network and I will probably have to try to get my Amazon Prime going again. If you recall, the last time their network failed in our neighborhood, it took Keith and me several hours to get it up and going again. Cox knows nothing about the installation of a Tivo.  Keith contacted Tivo direct and got their instructions and I printed them off. We will see how that works out tomorrow.

I have had my breakfast and even fed two adult cats (a yellow one and Scruffy) and all of her four kittens.

If the weather is decent this afternoon I may trim the yard. I may be very busy tomorrow with the Tivo re-installation.

More later....

I left for Coffeyville at 8:30AM and when I got there I went to the bank and got my week's funds. Then I went out to Woodshed and bought my gas and then on to Walmart and bought my groceries. By then it was time for my hair appointment. She really cut it short this time. I always wear it short but I believe this is the shortest I have ever had it.

I came on home and put away my groceries. I had bought six frozen meals and put them in my freezer bag. Suzanne got me to decide to buy one. When I got home, I put them in the freezer. I bought some more breakfast bars and cat food.

I did buy a rack to screw onto the wall next to my water faucet but I may have to have John or Leslie screw it onto the wall out there. After it cools down some this afternoon I will see if I can do it myself. If not, I will ask one of them to do it for me. I will have to use a screwdriver and they would have an electric one which would make it easier to do. We will see.

When I got home I checked the mail and then went out to Sonic and bought their Wednesday special. It is that Wacky Pack with two large chicken strips and fries and a small  coke. For $2.18. you really can't beat that.

It's 88 degrees out there now but feels a lot hotter then that. It's only 1:19PM so it may get even hotter before the day is over.

More later... .

Sure was frustrating to try to install that hose rack myself when I don't have the proper tools to do it. I tried to drive a nail into the cement board and pull it out and screw it in with my hand screwdriver.  That didn't go in far enough. I hate to ask the kids to help but I don't have any other options. Leslie is working today and John worked cows this morning but he is coming in 30 to 45 minutes to do it for me. Bless his heart!

I read on my new book until he came. It is the one called  "Epidemics and Society" by Frank Snowden.

John brought the  puppy, KiKi, with him and she went out to the back yard on a leash with us. She looks just like Hoover, her grandfather.  She is only fourteen weeks old now so eventually they will mate her with a male Corgi that belongs to an employee at the pet shop in Independence.

John had come right away and within five minutes had those screws completely in. I put the hose on it and later,,,after it cools down a bit, I will water the flowerbed again. It's 90 degrees out there right now.

I had a banana for supper and a breakfast bar. That should hold me for awhile.

I am watching the 5:00PM news now. Later at 5:30PM I will watch the CBS news.  At 7:00PM I will take my bath and later at 9:00PM I will go on to bed.

Tuesday and Mowing Day

I slept well last night and got up  around 5:00AM. I have had my breakfast and coffee and even my chai latte.

I have fed three cats this morning. Scruffy and Big Yellow Tom were waiting for me to open the door and put their dishes out front. The other one was one of Big Yellow Tom's adolescent cats.  They all three ate and stayed awhile but finally went back across the street so I brought in the bowls.

I washed the front door storm door glass this morning.

Scott called this morning and visited for awhile.  Ginger called him after awhile and he had to hang up for me and answer her. We pretty much had our visit out.

This afternoon Krystal and her daughter will come to mow. Now it needs it...for sure.

I am half watching the Channel 6 news while I post this. I really am not that interested in Tulsa's news but we don't have much choice.. They are expecting Trump this next weekend and Oklahoma is so red that thousands of them are trying to get tickets to hear his tirade. I personally could care less. He is not "my" president. He is so crude and ignorant he has no business even being president and if Russia had not interfered in our election, he would not be. Obviously Hillary had the popular vote sewed up. The electoral college elected him.

I am waiting for the CBS news at 8:00AM.

More later...

I read most of the day and had lunch at 11:00AM.  Soon after that, the mail came and although I did not get much of anything but junk mail. I did get that.

At 2:30 or soon after, Krystal and her daughter came and the daughter mowed. If it cools down on Thursday, I will trim again. I wish the mower were a little closer to the ground. It barely gets the clover. Before the next mowing, I will need to buy gas for that mower. All this summer, I have used only one can of gas.

Tomorrow I plan to go to Coffeyville. I hope to have breakfast with Bob and then get my hair done afterward. I want to go out to Walmart and see if I can find a hose rack ...something to hang my new hose on. I also need to get some more frozen meals. I used the last one I had this afternoon. I have an insulated zipper bag so I can put the frozen meals in that.

Tomorrow I will have a big afternoon. Tonight, all night Cox is going to work on our network in this neighborhood. I will probably lose my Amazon Prime until I can get the apps on it and can log onto Amazon Prime. Keith got the directios from Tivo and I printed them off so I hope to be able to reconnect without a huge problem like the last time they meddled with the network.

After Krystal and her daughter left I went out and watered my flowerbed.  Then I came in to watch the 400PM news. At 7:00PM, I will take my bath and hope to go to bed at 9:00PM.

Monday and Laundry and Window Washing

I woke up about 4:00AM this morning but stayed in bed off and on for another hour. Then I stripped the bed and began the laundry.

I have dressed, had my breakfast and am working on my coffee now.

I have two cats here for breakfast. It is Scruffie and Big Yellow Tom  None of the kittens have come this least not yet. Another of the adolescent yellow cats is here to eat now though.

I will dry and fold and put away the laundry after a while, Right now it is still in the washer.

It is 69 degrees right now but is forecast to be 92 later in the day. There is no rain in the forecast until Sunday.

Krystal's daughter will mow for me tomorrow. I thought about having her mow yesterday but it wasn't quite tall enough to need it that early.

After the laundry is finished, I may get back to my book today.

Right now I am watching the channel 6 news. So more later....

After the channel 6 news, I got out my sprayer and the solution that cleans the windows through the screens and rinses them. It is called Renz E-Z. So far, so good. I won't be able to do the west living room window because the screen on that window has lots of holes in it and I have patched it outdoors and indoors too. I got the south windows both done and they look pretty least a lot cleaner. I still will have the living room windows and the dining room windows to do. After the  CBS news is finished at 10:00AM, I will move the hose to the front of the apartment and get them done. I hope they do as well. It saves me from having to climb on a ladder and wash them by hand. As long as the windows don't leak into the apartment, this is the way I have always washed my windows everywhere I have lived.

I was watching the CBS news while the dryer was drying the laundry so I brought it in the living room to fold it and put it away on the commercial break.. It is 8:35AM right now.

It's 10:25 AM now and all the windows are washed except the one on the west side of the apartment. They look pretty good except I am exhausted.  I had a hard time disconnecting the hose and got a huge bruise on my left hand from trying. Then I had to carry the hose to the front of the apartment and connect it to the faucet.. The connection to the hose that attaches to the faucet is broken now so after I washed the windows, I stuck the ruined hose into a large black yard plastic bag and put it in the trash. I also hauled the thing that wound up the hose to the curb because it had been leaking around the connection ever since I moved here and I will need to buy a new one when I buy the new hose. I am not sure how I will connect the new hose holder that I will buy to the side of  the house near the faucet so I can water my flowerbed. I will have to figure that out when I am not so exhausted. At 84, everything is harder. Anyhow, the windows look a lot cleaner and better..

More later....

It's 10:55AM now and I am recovering pretty well from my exhaustion. I have filled the hummingbird feeder again too. I am not sure whether the hummingbirds are still around or not but the feeder was empty. Of course, it could have evaporated I guess.  Anyhow, it is full again now. I will need to go out to Dollar General and see if they have any 25 or 50 foot hoses and some kind of hook to wind it on. I will need to attach the holder to the cement board under or near my large den window since the rest of the back wall is brick.

Back even later...

I went out to Dollar General and bought a hose. They had no racks to wind it on or even sprayers so I just bought the 50 foot hose. I took the new hose and another mixture of the cleaner to the front and washed those four windows again. When I went to turn off the wouldn't turn off at all. Water was running from the new hose into the street so I called the city. They came out but they couldn't get the faucet to turn off either so they turned off the water at the meter. I contacted Suzanne and she is sending a plumber out here after lunch. The city employee thought it might be a worn out washer. It worked fine this morning when I washed the windows the first time. I was just going over them again to be sure they were as clean as I could get them. Then the water wouldn't turn off when I finished. What a mess! Always something! I just eventually disconnected the hose and rolled it up and put it in the garage.

It's 1:00PM now and I haven't had lunch yet. I will microwave a turkey and dressing TV dinner .

More later...

The plumber came and looked over the faucet. He discovered it was the faucet handle itself. He went back to his office to look for a used one since that one was very old.

He was unable to find one so he told me he would be back later in the week   after he went to a plumbing shop to find one of those handles. He did turn the water back on so I did my dishes.

I had a banana for supper. I am still hungry but have nothing else to eat. I had popcorn last night so I shouldn't eat it again tonight. I will just tough it out.

I am watching the CBS news now but it is about to go off now.  So I will get back to this later.

Sunday and Online Church

I slept well last night but went to bed way too early. I woke up at 4:00AM wide awake. I lay there for 40 minutes and finally just got up and dressed and got myself ready for the day. The only church this morning will be online out of Ontario, Canada. They do a good job but I miss my own congregation..

My life is very boring. I try to stay busy with my housework, laundry and reading but that doesn't take much time living here in a five room apartment. Nancy is constantly sick and there is no one else to visit with anymore. I look forward each week to my trip to Coffeyville to eat breakfast with Bob and my hair appointment and occasionally for a game day at the senior center. I will be so glad when this virus finally plays out...if it ever does. They are predicting a second round of it because so many people do not stay home or even wear face masks in public to protect others.

It is 5:33AM now so I guess I will make my coffee, juice  and oatmeal. Back later....

I had my breakfast and logged on to the notebook just in time for it to tell me there was an error and it would need to reboot. When it rebooted I no longer had access to the router. So, after trying several things I just rebooted again  That worked. I think it's their network. The same thing happened yesterday morning. It took several reboots to get connected then.

I had Scruffie and three of her four kittens here for their breakfast There was a gray one, a yellow one and the black one. The second gray one was the only one missing.

The news is on. I will be back to this later...

About 9:00AM, I went to Independence. I went to the Walmart there to get a new battery for my watch. Then I bought what groceries I needed  and later went to wash my car. After that I went to Walgreens and got my prescription filled. Then I cam home in time to watch the worship service online from the Ontario Canada Community of Christ. The sermon was excellent. In fact the entire worship service was excellent. I watched several episodes of Forensics Files after I finished all that.

I got home in time to cook my lunch, put away my groceries and watch that worship service. While at Walmart I also bought stamps. I wanted to send out the six letters to those of our congregation that are not online to remind them of our return to the 11:00AM service on June 28th. Now if Montgomery County has no new cases of the virus before then, we will resume our 11:00AM service on that morning..Leslie will be in charge and have the sermon that morning

I think it's important to stay in touch with the congregation during this time we are unable to meet together..

More later...

I hope you all have watched 60 Minutes tonight and saw the program about the Tulsa race massacre of 1921. I first learned about that two years ago when I took a bus tour of Tulsa and the Tulsa tour guide told all about it. I was born and raised 70 miles north of Tulsa and had never heard of it before. As they brought out in the program,Tulsa is full of racial problems.,,segregation long after it was against the law to segregate schools. .

I watched some TV this evening and finally turned it off and took my bath and fed the cats and will finish this up and go on to bed. I was up shortly after 4:30AM this morning and am tired. It has been a busy day anyhow. Tomorrow, I will strip my bed, put clean sheets on it and laundry the ones I take off.

So good night this evening..

Saturday and Another Boring Day

I slept pretty well last night. The arm did not get sore at all although I got up at 4:45AM.

I dressed and had my breakfast and the opened the door to this. This just one of Scruffie's kittens. She has four. One is yellow (this one)  two are Gray, like her, and one is pitch black

Image may contain: dog

I finally had a chance to take a photo of them together. Here is a photo of three of the kittens with Scruffie. One is yellow, one is gray like Scruffie and one is the black one.

Image may contain: plant, tree, table and indoor
Usually I cannot get them to all be here at the same time. They are so wild.  They must have been very hungry. The only one missing is the other gray one.

More later...the CBS news is on now.

This notebook couldn't access the internet this morning. I rebooted several times and now it is finally back online. The Cox company is going to work on their network on the 17th and they really must do that. Several weeks ago I had a problem getting online with my new computer and after rebooting several times over several days, I finally got a signal. Cox thought that was because the computer was too far away from the router but the laptop was setting right next to the desktop computer and was online with a USB connection. I rebooted the desktop several times and finally was able to get the signal. They were both online this morning.

Last week I lost my Amazon Prime and after calling the company they told me the entire block's network was down and it would be back up in a couple of hours, It took five hours and then I had to figure out with the help of my older son how to get my Tivo back online so I could record shows and also connect to Amazon Prime. It took us an hour or so to do that.

Now I got that notice from Cox this week that they are going to be working on their network next Wednesday and the entire block will go through that again. This time my son contacted Tivo and got their instructions on how to get through that and I have printed that off for that occasion. I hope it will be easier this time.

The notebook. which is the newest of my three computers, has never had a problem getting online until this morning. After rebooting three times I finally got their signal.

Cox is a mess!!

More later...

I watched a couple of episodes of Forensic Files and then picked up my book to read.

I've been reading all afternoon and am tired of it. I don't know what else to do though. The apartment is clean, I have watered the plants and fed the cats. The laundry is done and put away. I suspect Nancy is still sick although  I could call and check that out. She is one person I could visit if she's not still sick today.

I've called Nancy three times  this afternoon and each time her line has been busy. I don't know whether she has left the phone off the hook or if she really is talking on the phone that much.

I watched some more Forensic Files and then decided to repair the screens again. I had patched them once but the patches didn't hold. So I did it again yesterday. After the heat today, the patches were loose again. So I went outside and put some patches on the outside of the screens too. I don't know that that wil hold but it can'r hurt anything to try.

I watched a bit of the PGA golf. so you know I am really bored.

It's time for news now and only the NBC news is on right now. The CBS news will be on later at  5:30PM and it's only 5:15PM right now. I will switch channels at 5:30PM.

More later...

I took my bath at 7:00PM and then just went on to bed at 8:30PM. Channel 6 out of Tulsa was having trouble with their video. I don't like Oklahoma news either. They don't seem to realize southeast Kansas is also stuck with it. We get no Kansas news here in southeast Kansas.

Friday and Dusting

I slept very well last night. No pain in the arm at all. That's odd because I did all that vacuuming yesterday. I have dressed and had my usual breakfast and am now working on my chai.

When I was in the bathroom making up my face, I saw a huge recluse spider on the floor. I quickly killed it!  Those things are deadly! The skin around their bite rots away and the person bitten has to have surgery to heal. I knew a post woman back when I lived here when the kids were in high school and she was bitten and had a terrible chunk taken out of her shoulder. She had to have the surgery to heal it.

I had Scruffy here a bit ago for her breakfast. One of the little kittens, the black one, ran across the street when I opened the garage door to take the cat food out but one of the yellow ones, very tiny one, ate with Scruffy, it's mother. They are all gone now. I guess the kittens are still least two of the four that I have seen. I was afraid Big Tom had killed them since I hadn't seen any of them in several weeks

I will dust the apartment today. Everything else is done. I will also wipe down the cabinet tops. I will start after the CBS news. That doesn't even come on until 8:00AM. It's only 7:30AM now.

I am glad to see I lost a pound yesterday. I need to lose at least 4 or 5 more pounds. I will try to be careful what I eat. It's ice cream that does me in. I bought two pints this last week and they were both gone by the end of the week.

Cox is going to work our wireless connection over again on the 17th. I got a notice in the mail yesterday. Keith and I just got it working again a few days ago. When their wireless was down last week, I lost my Amazon Prime until Keith talked to Tivo and got some instructions on how to get the Tivo going again. Undoubtedly I will lose it again when they work on their network again on the 17th. Keith contacted Tivo again yesterday and got the instructions on how to get it going again after they get their work finished. He sent me the instructions and I printed them off. Cox is a mess. It's always something.

More later...

I got my dusting done and did a load of laundry too. I had a frozen dinner for lunch. I called Nancy but she was sick again.  I would like to have gone to the Copan Truck Stop restaurant but didn't want to eat alone there. It's 1:18PM now. I didn't get any mail today.Usually I at least get some junk mail.

Oh well....

I read for awhile this afternoon and then folded out my laundry and put it away.  I went out to Dollar General and bought some more detergent and cat food and crangrape juice. I have been drinking crangrape juice for several months.

Now I am watching the 4:00PM news and now the 5:22PM CBS news will be on at 5:30PM. After it is over I will take my bath and put my pjs on.

At 9:00PM, I plan to go to bed.

Thursday and Cleaning

I slept pretty well last night. The brace moved around a bit and I had to adjust it several times. But it sure beats trying to sleep without it.

Scruffy and two of the yellow cats were waiting for me to bring them breakfast this morning. The two yellow cats are still eating but Scruffy has gone back across the street to wherever it is she lives....under that gray shed. One of the yellow cats is Big Tom and the other is one of his adolescent kittens.

I have have had my oatmeal breakfast, coffee and a breakfast bar already.

I will do some cleaning this morning starting with the bare floors, dining room and den. If I can hold up, I will do the bedroom and living room too. But it will be after the Tulsa news and the CBS news.

After I finish cleaning I will get back to my book . I would like to go to Chanute to see Gay but she may not be up for that because of the colonavirus. We will see. As it turned out, Gay is away on a trail ride with friends and will call me back tonight.

More later....

I moved all the chairs out of the dining room and all the decorative accessories too. Then I vacuumed that room and the halls.

I tried to call Nancy to see if she wanted to go to lunch at Copan but there was no answer. So I went by her house and this time, she answered the phone...but once more she was sick. So I guess I will just eat a frozen meal again.

So now I will vacuum the bedroom and den and the living room.   So more later...

O.K. I got the entire apartment vacuumed and the bare floors washed. Tomorrow all I have to do is dust and wipe down all the cabinet tops. Then on Monday, I will strip the bed and wash the sheets and remake the bed with different clean sheets.

Scruffy has been back twice this afternoon to eat. She eats just a little when she comes but then wants to come back several times during the afternoon.

Last evening I patched the torn screens on the window on the west side of the living room. I patched it a couple of weeks ago but with the humidity and rain, the patches came loose. I imagine they will do the same again in time.

There are a few things I would like to have done if I just knew someone who could do them, For instance, I would like the windows washed inside and out. I have my long time sprayer to wash windows that always worked great wherever I have lived. When I moved in here, I washed the den window that way but when I came into the apartment, the water had leaked around the window and into the apartment and the carpet was wet under that window. I was appalled. That had never happened before.

I have used Rinz E-Z and those two sprayers for years and have never had that happen before. In fact, that solution cleans the windows right through the screens and cleans the screens too. The window came clean but that window must not be tight and it must have leaked around the fitting. So I am leery of trying to wash the rest of the windows for fear they would also leak into the apartment.

And I don't think I am up to climbing on a step stool out there and taking the screens off and washing them and then also washing the windows inside and out. But I don't know anyone that does that here in Caney.

I guess I will get back to my book again. So, more later...

I read for awhile and am on page 102  now. I have only read 1/5 of that book. It is interesting but will take me awhile to read.

I was working on the desktop computer and Gay called me back. Their trial ride is tomorrow and she was exhausted after getting her RV ready for the trip. She also had to hook up the horse trailer.  There are four of them going on the trail ride.

I had a banana for my supper. Then I had another breakfast bar too. I could fix the rest of my microwave popcorn too. I'll see how full I am first.

Scruffy and the two yellow cats came for supper. I fed them and they left so I brought in the food.

It is nearly 7:00PM now and I have just had my bath, watered my plants and have my pjs and the rotator cuff brace on.  I will either read or play solitaire on the computer until 9:00PM and then go to bed. I got an awful lot done today. I still have my dusting to do tomorrow. And I want to wipe down all the countertops too.
