Saturday and Breakfast Out

I went to bed shortly after 9:00 last night and woke up at 3:00. I went to the bathroom and went back to bed. I was never able to get back to sleep. I had taken a Zzzquil at bedtime so I couldn't take another. I just lay there wide awake. Finally at 4:30 I just got up. I will definitely need a nap today.

I will pick up Bob this morning at 6:50 and we will go to Eggberts for breakfast. I don't know what I will do after that...probably read.

The hurricane hit Texas last night. This will be a major disaster.

Missy just came in to join me here in the den.  It's almost 5:00 now. I may as well get dressed....

So more later....

I picked up Bob about 6:45 and we went to Eggberts to have breakfast. It was a good breakfast but certainly not what we ordered. I ordered a sausage and cheese omelet with fruit and a biscuit. I got hash browns instead.  (I never eat potatoes for breakfast)

Bob ordered a western omelet with sausage instead of ham and he got ham anyway. This we paid almost $10.00 each for a...breakfast.

We may not go back to this Eggberts again for awhile.

I have been reading the book "Einstein" by Walter Isaacson and it is huge. 551 pages plus sources. I am on page 355 now. But it is very interesting.  It is Bob's book. He has not read it. It's a bit deep but once you get past the first couple of chapters, it's very interesting.

More later...

I took my bath after Bob left and put my PJs on to read.

I read all afternoon and into the evening. At 10:00 I finally went to bed. I did not take any Zzztec.

Friday and Exercises

I slept pretty well last night. I did get up shortly before 5:00 AM. Missy slept right in the middle of where I sleep so I had to sleep on the other side of the bed. Darn cat!

Today is exercise class. I am to lead it. Our leader, Kay, lost her husband yesterday. He had been sick for awhile and just didn't make it through yesterday. I think she said it was COPD.  That must be a terrible way to go. He had been bed fast for awhile. Anyhow, Delores called Bob, who is on the board, and asked him to ask me to take over the class until Kay can come back. I can do that.

Missy is waiting for the sun to come up. She wants to go outside. When it is light outside, I will take her out.

I have fed her and myself. I am dressed and ready for the day. Today we will have a hamburger casserole dish. Oh my! In the excitement of Missy licking her coat and her weird behavior afterward, I forgot to get the hamburger out of the freezer! We may have to eat out. I will check with Bob before I get the hamburger out of the freezer.

I heard from Bob. We will eat out today.

The exercise class went well today. It helped to have Bob across from me doing the exercises too.  I went by the ATM to get money for the weekend and Tuesday's hair appointment. Then I stopped at Brahms and bought milk, oleo and ice cream for Sunday evening. I will make my apple brown betty for that occasion. It always goes over well.

Bob will be by in about an hour to pick me up for lunch. We will eat at Kansas Buffet.

More later...

We had a nice lunch at Kansas Buffet.  I will pick Bob up at 6:50 tomorrow morning to go to breakfast.

I read all afternoon and then this evening Missy and I laid on the sofa and watched TV until 8:45. I came in here to check the e-mail and see if I had heard anything from Scott. It's been a couple of weeks since I've heard from him. I know he is busy.

I will go to bed at 9:00 and Missy will probably follow me in there.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept well last night. I will clean the apartment today. I have already washed the bathroom and kitchen floors. As soon as they are dry, I will get down on my hands and knees and rewash the kitchen floor. Using a wet swifter does not get it clean enough. I need to use 409 and an old towel to really get it clean.

We will have hamburgers and french fries for lunch today.  Bob has put some cokes in the frig and we will have this unhealthy lunch today. :)

I will start vacuuming after the kitchen and bathroom floors are dry. I will start in the bedrooms so Missy will not have to move. At this time of day she likes to lie in the sunlight streaming through the door onto the kitchen/dining room floor. I spoil her. She will be 15 years old in March.

I took her outside and put her flea medicine on her. and  combed her well.  She enjoys that.

More later....

We had our hamburgers and french fries for lunch and it was good.

I took the remaining tuna casserole over to Karan.  I had already given some to Marilyn R.

The apartment is clean now and I read all afternoon. As I was reading, Missy was sleeping on the sofa. She turned over and fell down on the floor. That hurt! I could tell.

Bob called to ask if I could take over the exercise class for a week. Kay's husband died this afternoon. I will do that. I went down to the Dollar General Store and bought a card and made it out and put it on the mailbox to go out tomorrow.

Bob came over at 4:00 and we went over to Brahms and had an ice cream cone. Very good! He left at 6:30 and I did the crossword puzzle in the Reporter and then took the Reporter over to Marilyn's house.

Missy licked her coat on the left side for awhile and then licked her lips over and over again. I wondered if I had accidentally combed that flea medicine down on her coat. I finally took her back outside and re-combed her and also gave her a saucer of milk.  I hope she is going to be alright. She seems to be resting now.

I will take my bath and get ready for bed. It's only 7:00 so I have a couple of hours to watch TV.

Wednesday and Exercises

I slept pretty well last night. I  am glad I missed the president's speech last night and from the video I've seen of it, he is digging his own grave again as president. He condemns the press for doing their job. He has completely alienated McConnell, whom he needs to get his legislation through congress. He has no  presidential decorum at all.

It was almost just as bad at the city commission meeting I attended last night but it was on a smaller scale.

Today I will go to exercise class and afterward will come home to warm up the tuna casserole. I will fix some more peas and Bob will bring a salad.

More later....

Our lunch went well. I will save what little is left for Karan.

After 1:00 I went to game day at the Senior Center. I took some cookies for my treat.

When I got home I lay with Missy on the couch until the newspaper came. Then I read that and did the crossword puzzle. Bob came about 5:15 and stayed until 6:15. I took my bath at 7:00 and laid down with Missy and watched TV until bedtime.  I went to bed at 9:00.

Tuesday and Cake Day

I slept well again last night thanks to Zzzquil. I got up shortly before 5:00. I got myself ready for the day and fed Missy and myself. Now she wants to go outside but it's still dark out there and we will not go out until it gets light outside.

I will pick up Bob at 8:20 and we will go to Independence to deliver the cakes and then I will take him over to his sister Betty's home and go get my hair done. After I get my hair done, I will go out to Juanita's and balance her checkbook. After that, I will pick up Bob and we will go eat lunch at Big Cheese.

This afternoon I will wash the floors in the bathroom and kitchen. This evening at 6:30 I will give the invocation at the city commission meeting and then stay for the meeting.

I took Missy out for about thirty minutes but the trash truck is on our block now and she does not like that noise. So we came back in the house.

I watched Trump's speech last night. We have learned nothing from the Korean and Vietnam experience. Even though these wars are basically guerrilla warfare and we can't tell who the enemy is, we continue to involve America in them and also try to make them build a democracy. That sort of movement needs to come from the people themselves...not have it imposed on them by America.  It's always easy for the generals to wage wars. They aren't out there in the heat of the battle.

The primary reason why the terrorists hate us is not because of our political system. Lord only knows, Capitalism  is a mess.  It's greed driven. They hate us because we are considered infidels and we are on their Holy Land.  To their way of thinking we are defiling it with our presence.   Anyone who doubts this should read "Imperial Hubris" by Michael Scheuer.

Michael F. Scheuer  is a former CIA intelligence officer, American author, foreign policy critic, and political analyst.  One of his assignments during his 22-year career was serving as Chief of the Bin Laden Issue Station from 1996 to 1999. He also served as Special Advisor to the Chief of Alec Station from September 2001 to November 2004.

According to the author Michael Scheuer, the greatest danger for Americans confronting the Islamist threat is to believe—at the urging of U.S. leaders—that Muslims attack us for what we are and what we think rather than for what we do. Blustering political rhetoric “informs” the public that the Islamists are offended by the Western world’s democratic freedoms, civil liberties, inter-mingling of genders, and separation of church and state. However, although aspects of the modern world may offend conservative Muslims, no Islamist leader has fomented jihad to destroy participatory democracy. Instead, a growing segment of the Islamic world strenuously disapproves of specific U.S. policies and their attendant military, political, and economic implications.

I will load those cakes in the trunk of my car now.

More later....

We delivered the cakes and I took Bob out to his sister, Betty's home. Then I went on to the beauty shop.   Afterward, I went over to Juanita's house and balanced her checkbook. I also made out the check for her granddaughter's wedding gift and later after I finished everything, mailed it off. Then I picked up Bob for lunch. We went to Big Cheese.

When I got home I laid down with Missy and took a nap.

Tonight I will go to the senior center and ask the invocation for the city commission meeting.  I will stay for the meeting. It begins at 6:30 and should be over by 7:30.

So...more later...

The meeting should have been over at 7:30 but it wasn't over until 9:00. The commission is made up of five men....four of whom are so ignorant they have no conception of how to be a commissioner. They talk over one another and want to micro manage the city even though we have a city manager. They just can't let him do his job. It drug on and on. I have decided not to ever stay for the entire meeting again. It just frustrates me so badly. Obviously, the prayer did no good at all.

When I got home, I took my bath and a Zeequil and went to bed. Missy soon joined me.

Monday and Exercises

Today is supposed to be the solar eclipse. I will not watch it. I have no glasses and I have seen one once before when we lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma  years ago. Maybe I will watch it on TV on the weather channel.

I took my last Zzzquil last night and had a good night's sleep. I will need to get some more today. I need a few groceries anyhow.

We will have tuna noodle casserole for lunch with peas and a salad. Maybe I will get some fruit for dessert. I still have cookies too.

After lunch I will bake my cake for tomorrow and ice it this afternoon. I will take the four of them to Independence tomorrow to the First Christian Church.  Phyllis and Karan will bring theirs over to me later today. When I pick up Bob tomorrow, he will have his.  I put them in the trunk of my car for the trip to Independence. I had neglected all of them for several days. The rose bush still looks good.

This morning I tore up the petunias in the above ground flower box. They were so leggy! I put them in a bag and trashed them. I watered the rest.

Bob will be here in about 30 minutes to pick me up for exercises. So...more later...

Exercises went well. During lunch, Phyllis brought her cake over.  After lunch I went out to Walmart and bought $27.71 worth of groceries but forgot to get my Zeequil.  After lunch I went back out for that. It really helps me sleep and without it, there's doubt I could stay asleep. .

Today was the Solar eclipse. I didn't watch it. I didn't have any of those special glasses and didn't want to go to the college to get some. Besides we will only have 90% coverage anyhow. Instead, I baked my cake for tomorrow.  It's nearly 4:00 now.

More later....

Bob came over  at 5:30 and watched the news with me and after he left at 6:00, Karan came with her cake.

Now I will take my bath and put my pjs on.  At 9:00 I will go to bed.

Sunday and Church

I slept really well again last night. I took Zeequil again. That seems to be the only way I can sleep well anymore. I got up at 5:00, my usual time to rise. I got myself ready for church and fed Missy and myself.

I have watered the plants in front of the apartment. They were wilted. The expected rain yesterday didn't happen.  The ground is wet so it may have rained a little in the night. This afternoon I will need to water the east side flowers and deadhead the flowers.

After Rick and Carmen came home I slipped out and put a note of invitation to church under the windshield wipers on their car.  They have come fairly regularly for a month. Our people really seem to enjoy them. Everyone greets them. I am so pleased with our friendly welcoming people.

After church we will either go to "Great China" or "Just Us" for lunch.  We will see what Phyllis wants to do. It doesn't matter which to Bob and me.

When I get back home I will do my newsletters and get the ones for people with only snail mail out on the mailbox for the mailman to pick up tomorrow. Most of the congregation has e-mail and I simply cut and paste it into e-mail for them.

More later....

We had a nice lunch at "Great China" but had way too much food so I brought some of it home for my neighbor Marilyn R.

I got the newsletter finished and am watching TV while I post here. Missy has been taking her nap. Poor kitty...she sleeps most of her life away.  She will be 15 years old in March.

One of my readers here wanted to know where I got Missy. My daughter gave her to me.  They had a litter of them. She brought Missy to church in a box for the "focus moment" for the children. The theme was "Do you believe me?" She asked the children, "If I told you there was something alive in this box, would you believe me?" The children all said "Yes!"  So she took her seat. From the back of the church, I said, "Well, what's in the box?" She said, "Would you believe it? My mother doesn't believe me." She then opened the box and showed everyone this tiny kitty.

I had invited them for dinner after lunch and they brought the kitten with them. I said, "What will you do with the kitten? I have no cat food and no litter box." She said "She will be fine." After dinner when they were ready to leave, I said. "Don't forget the kitten!" She said, "Better get some cat food and a litter box. She's yours." That's how I got her 14 1/2 years ago.

Anyhow, after I laid with Missy and watched TV, I took a short nap. After I woke up, Bob came and brought some cherry limeades for us. They were supposed to be cherry limeade slushes but they got the order wrong at Sonic.

He stayed for 60 Minutes and then went home. I took my bath and laid back down with Missy to watch "The Nineties" on CNN.

We went to bed at 9:00
