Friday and Packing for My Trip

Sometime today, I must pack for my trip to Independence, Missouri.  I slept pretty well last night so hopefully I will be up to whatever occurs today. My right had has been very sore lately. It never has recovered from all that scanning of bar codes at the library. The thumb I used to hit the button on the scanner stays swollen and sore most of the time. My ankles are also swelling by evening. The foot I hurt in my fall three weeks ago still swells larger then the other. I will be doing a lot of walking next week so I will hope for the best. I'm not going to give up my activity over a few aches and pains.

I will go to exercise class this morning. Bob is picking me up. We take turns driving. I missed Wednesday. They had planned to do some more strenuous jumping exercises and I knew my feet would not be up to that. As it turned out, for some reason, they did not start that new exercise video.

Today is also cinnamon roll day at Utopia.  We may go. We are only having hamburgers and french fries for lunch so that will not be a big meal preparation day.

Leslie, my daughter, will pick me up at 7:00 AM tomorrow morning for our trip. That should not be a problem since I am almost always up at 5:00.

I intend to take my laptop computer with me and if Leslie's hot spot works for it, I will try to keep up on my blog.

Missy is patiently waiting for her breakfast so I will get back to this later in the day. More later...

I got Missy's breakfast and my own and even took her out for awhile. She was very good at staying around and came back in willingly when I was ready.

I did go to exercise class and afterward to Utopia for coffee and a cinnamon roll. Karan bought both Bob and my cinnamon roll. That was sweet of her. I just bought our coffee.

Now soon I will start lunch and then pack for my trip. I am doing the last load of laundry now and I will need those things for the week.

More even later...

Thursday and Ministerial Alliance

Today I will go back to Independence, Kansas, to get my hair washed again. I will miss my appointment next week because of the World Conference so I will try to get it stretched until the following Tuesday this way. It will be a mess but I can do nothing at all with it myself. I tried last week and it looked terrible all week. For one thing, it needed to be cut and was all out of shape. Now it's been cut but it has to last over a week. Vanity, vanity, thy name is woman.

Missy has been very trying this morning. She cried to go out until I gave in and took her out. But I have been trying to train her to stay close to my apartment and not wander off where she could get into trouble with one of the neighborhood cats. Have you ever tried to train a cat? Finally after chasing after her twice and insisting she come back near my apartment, (she growled and hissed at me all the way), I let her go to the east side of the apartment while I watered my flowerbed and dead headed the spent blossoms. She sneaked away around the corner to the back and I took my shoes off (the grass was wet) and went after her. When I caught her and picked her up she was furious! If she could have reached me as I was carrying her, she would have bit me she was so angry. But I put her in the apartment and that's where she will stay now.

I will go to the alliance meeting at noon and Bob will be on his own for lunch. I am so tired of cooking. Bob brings his salad but that's about all he does. He fills our glasses with ice and tea but I do the cooking and then I do all the cleaning up.  I know it must be my age but I get very tired of all that. I know I need to continue though.  Anything not home cooked is either full of salt or full of sugar.  That's why the obesity problem in this country. And with that, many times, comes diabetes. Not many people get any exercise and everyone anymore seems to eat out.

Missy missed her litter box this morning and got urine on the little bathmat I keep it on, so early this morning, I started some laundry. I have the apartment clean and want it to stay that way as long as possible.  Bob will be coming over every day next week, while I'm gone to feed and water Missy and empty out her "stuff" from the litter box. I hope he does some watering of my flowers while I'm gone but that's probably too much to ask him to do.

I need to vacuum my bedroom today.

I heard from my son this morning that they won't be able to move this weekend after all. Evidently the electric company can't get the electricity turned on until next week. How disappointing! We have built four houses over the years and only once was the house finished on time.  It's something to do with contractors. They just can't seem to get everything coordinated.

More later.... I still don't have my bedroom vacuumed. Maybe I can get it done tomorrow. Right now I should take Missy out for awhile. She's been cooped up in the house ever since I picked her up and brought her back in this morning.

I took her out for awhile and she stayed right on the mat at the doorway out there.  I visited with Marilyn awhile and she never moved.  I came back in when the paper arrived and read it before Bob came to read it.

After he left, I searched in vain for something worth watching on TV and finally just gave up and got myself ready for bed.

Wednesday and a Busy, Busy Day

This has been quite a day. I awoke fairly early and cleaned and vacuumed everything but my bedroom. I will do that tomorrow.

I also finished painting the step stool that goes in the kitchen. l put the second coat of brown on it.  I put the first coat on it yesterday.

I went to Medicine Shoppe and picked up the prescription I refilled and forgot to pick up yesterday.

I fixed Montreal Chicken for lunch along with boiled potatoes and gravy and frozen corn. Bob still had a salad in the frig. Then we had mixed fruit for dessert.

I made my lemon bars for Bunco day at the senior center.  When I got home I made cookies. So I really have been busy.

I printed off a list of everything I will need to pack for Saturday and all next week. I will pack Friday.  Leslie wants to leave at 7:00 AM Saturday morning. She has a meeting at 10:00 in Independence, Missouri.

Missy's favorite TV program is on this evening. It's "Nature" on PBS. She watches it intently.

Luckily, everything is caught up now.

The paper just came so I will stop and read it before Bob comes over to read it.

More later....

What a bummer! "Nature" is not on this evening, So I will read. I've had my bath and will go to bed at 9:00.

Here 's the finished house my son and daughter-in-law have built. They move in next week

Tuesday and Cake Day

I picked up Bob at 8:15 to go take our four cakes to Independence to the First Christian Church for their dinner tonight. Then I got my hair done. After that, I took Bob to Walmart to buy a few things he needed. It was raining so I stayed in the car and listened to the radio. He was not long. Then we went to Big Cheese to eat lunch.

When I got home I went to the hospital and did a second devotion. I missed the devotion on Wednesday so I went in Friday and today and did one. I had five in attendance....two men and three women. They seemed to enjoy the fellowship and the devotion. Afterward I washed my car.

When I got home I sprayed the step stool again until the can clogged up. Then I soaked the spigget in mineral spirits and hopefully it will unclog.  There is still paint in the can, It rained this morning while I was gone so I hope it did not hurt the first coat I had sprayed on it this morning early. I left it out in the sun to dry.

Now I need to go get some oleo at Country Mart and another cake pan. Walmart does not carry my oleo. I always use that that is made with Olive Oil.

Bob came over at 5:00 or so to read the newspaper and stayed until 6:30. There wasn't much on TV so I took my bath and watched Genealogy Roadshow on PBS.  After that I started to watch a show about the end of the First World War but finally gave up and just went in the den to play a game on TV. I wil go to bed at 9:00 since I got up before 5:00 this morning.

Monday Memorial Day

I slept pretty well last night. Today I will do my laundry and clean and kitchen and bathroom. I'm not sure what else I will do at this point. Tomorrow I need to get my blood pressure medicine refilled before Leslie and I leave for Independence, Missouri, on Saturday.

But today I will need to get my cake baked for the First Christian Church.  Bob and I will take them up to Independence, Kansas, in the morning when I go to get my hair done. I may need to remind Karan. Phyllis will remember and Bob remembered. We talked about it last evening when he was over here.

While he was here and we were searching for something besides 60 Minutes to watch, we noticed that QVC had the Bose music system on sale for $100 off the regular price and free shipping. He has always wanted one so he bit the bullet and ordered it. Now he will need to get his living room rearranged so he can position it where he can use it best.  I told him I would help him move his furniture. He doesn't have a lot to move but will need help with the recliner, desk and sofa.  We will do that pretty soon because his Bose system will probably be here this week.

More later...Missy is very patiently waiting for her breakfast. I am hungry too.

This is the latest photo about the house my son and daughter-in-law are building. These are the floating shelves around the bar.

Nice, aren't they?

More even later...

Scott sent me a photo of their front door after it was stained.

Pretty good looking, huh? They're getting close to the closing. I think it's Friday.

Fireplace almost finished.

Neat fireplace. Lots of charm.

All four cakes are here now. Phyllis was the first to bring hers and then I baked mine. Karan brought hers after lunch and Bob brought his when he came while I was at the market.

I had chaplain duties this week. Today while I did not have my phone with me, the hospital called and needed me to be on stand by.    I dressed to go to the hospital but when I called them back the family had gone to lunch. I changed back into my work clothes and an hour later they called again and needed me to come. I put on my better clothing and went right up.  They had to make the decision to "pull the plug" on their loved one.  They needed me to pray with them. I did that and then came on back home after I expressed my condolences. I have one more day to serve. I will do the worship service tomorrow after we get home from lunch in Independence.

When I got home, I changed again and went to the market. I had quite a grocery list. When I got home, Bob had come and brought me his gorilla tape and picked up the cashew chicken I offered him for his supper.

I am now working on redoing Mildred's step stool. I was all ready to paint when the wind came up. So I put everything away and will do it another day when it is calm.

Bob is not coming back tonight. He will stay home. I will take my bath and put my PJs on in a little while.

Church Again

I will go to church as usual this morning. I had a hard time getting to sleep last night but finally did. I got up earlier then usual because I made up my coffeecake for the Church School class. I will pick up Bob this morning. I want to ask Phyllis and Karan if they would like to go to Great China for lunch. I talked to Jim at Just Us last evening and he said he was feeling fine after his hernia surgery but that Kay has been sick for two weeks. So they are not open until the following weekend.

I'd better get back to this later. It's time to get Bob.

Church was fine today. The sermon had some good points too.

After church five of us went to Great China.

I came home and did my congregational newsletters and got them out on the mailbox for Tuesday.

Tomorrow, I will clean and do my laundry. Bob kind of wanted to do something so I may just clean the kitchen and bathroom and vacuum one room. My feet have swollen again this evening and I haven't even been on them..

Bob came over to read the papers and watch 60 Minutes with me and then we checked HSN and just happened to see they have their Bose music systems on sale for $100 off and free shipping. Bob has been wanting one of those for ages and he passed up the last deal they had on them so he ordered one. He is really excited about finally having one. It will be three to five days before it arrives.

I guess I will read this evening since there's absolutely nothing on TV tonight.  Then about 9:00, I'll go to bed. I was up awfully early this morning at shortly after 4:00 AM. Tomorrow I will make a cake for the First Christian Church in Independence and then Bob and I will take the four of ours up Tuesday. We plan to have leftover meatloaf and fried potatoes, a salad and veggie and for dessert we will have the rest of our chocolate pudding.  I really need to bake cookies too.
