Saturday and Rain

It rained all night and we are under flash flood alerts. We have rain forecast for the rest of the week so it will only get worse.

If the rain breaks, Bob will pick me up for breakfast at 7:30. We will go to Sirloin Stockade again. Their breakfast is always fresh and hot. I've had two cold breakfasts at Eggberts and then we decided to try Sirloin Stockade instead.

I don't know what I will do today. It's supposed to rain and rain some more. I may read and get some of my reading caught up.

More later....

Here are the photos I managed to take before the battery went down on my camera.

This is Bob sitting with Marilyn and some friends from exercise class.

This is the same friends from the exercise class.

This was the serving table loaded with pies and cakes. Then my battery went down. I'm using the extra one now while that one is charging.

Bob called and asked me to drive after all.  he accidentally left his car windows cracked and rain got in on his seats. I think they will dry fine. His seats are leather. I was happy to drive. He usually drives most everywhere we go together.

We had a real good breakfast at Sirloin Stockade. Afterward, since it was still raining some, I came home and baked cookies.  Now we will have something to eat with our wine this evening. Now I am sitting here having a cup of Chia Latte wondering what else to do. I can put my laundry in the dryer and I had better do that. I have my dishes and pans all done up and put away.

I got everything done and the rain stopped so I decided to go to Bartlesville and walk around the mall just to have something to do besides sit around the house. I tried to call Bob but couldn't get through. When I got to Caney, he called to see where I was. I told him I had tried to call him and he said he had texed me back and also called me back but evidently his call did not go through because I did not receive it.  I didn't buy anything at the mall but I did stop out at South Coffeyville and bought a tank of gas. It was $2.49.9 I could have bought it two cents cheaper in Bartlesville but I didn't know that at the time.  I also stopped at my bank and withdrew some money for the week ahead.

On the way home from Bartlesville, my son, Keith, called me and told me about their project to open up their kitchen into the dining room.  They have begun tearing down the wall and Keith's brother-in-law will finish the job. They say he does lovely work.

Bob will be over later for wine and he will be surprised to learn that I baked cookies this morning after I got home from breakfast.

Friday, Thank Goodness!

I am ready for Friday. Anymore, I am always ready for Friday.  We will have exercises this morning. Afterward I will fix some pork chops I bought while they were on sale some time ago. I had frozen them until the time I wanted to use them. We will have mashed potatoes, gravy, and a veggie. Bob will bring the salad. I have the rest of the peaches for dessert.

Katie will probably be back at the library today and I may be scanning bar codes again.  She still hasn't entered the ones I brought her on Tuesday. She has been busy with other things.

The house is nice and clean. I cleaned pretty thoroughly yesterday.

Missy is wanting to go out this morning and I am waiting for daylight to go out with her.  We never know if there is another cat out there that would challenge her territory.

More later...

I did put away a couple of baskets of DVDs and then scanned another aisle of bar codes. I have six aisles left of the non fiction and then will start the material on the genealogy area.  I will still have all the car manuals in the back room to do too.

After work, I picked up my newspaper and then picked up Bob and Marilyn  to attend the hospital auxiliary's ice cream social.  We stayed for the city band concert. It was something different to do and nice.  I was going to take some photos but only got a few before my battery went down on my camera. I will download them after I recharge the battery.

Thursday and House Cleaning

It's Thursday again and I will need to clean house again.  I will run the vacuum in a little while.

I slept really well last night. In fact when Bob called to tell me he was going to his Lions Club meeting, I was still asleep and that was at 6:00 or after. He came over following his meeting but I was preoccupied with registering for my John Whitmer Historical Association meeting in September and I think he got discouraged about my lack of attention and finally left.  I was having problems with the registration.

We will have the leftover tuna noodle casserole for lunch. He will bring more salad. I have some canned peaches for dessert.

I can't seem to get started this morning. It's one of those days. It's 8:30 and all I have got done is my checkbook and that registration. I did take Missy out for awhile earlier but and she was uncomfortable out there since that cat from across the street was nearby. She does not trust him.

I  will never get it done if I don't get started so I'd better call a halt to this until later...

Well, I got the house cleaning finished and later tried to print off something with my computer printer in the den. Generally it works fine but this time I couldn't get it to print from either computer so I spent the next hour working on trying to get that printer to work. Finally at least one of them works....perhaps both. I don't have the time to try to figure out which right now. Perhaps both of them work but I don't know for sure.  I am warming up our tuna noodle casserole right now for lunch.

I have registered for the John Whitmer Historical Association meeting in September and I hope I can get housing with my old friend Joanne and her husband, Reg.   I haven't heard from either of them in some months. I hope they are well.  JWHA is a group from our church who study the history of our movement. I have belonged for over thirty years. I attend their meeting when they are held in Independence, Missouri. I no longer try to travel any further.

I did some changing of the end tables in the living room. One of them was damaged when we moved back from Independence, Kansas in 2003. I have been using it next to my swivel rocker chairs but finally decided to drag it over to the hall area and put the better one next to these chairs I use the most.  Missy is in mine right now so I am sitting in the other one doing this blog. But I'd better get back to the lunch or Bob will come before I'm ready.

More after work....

Katie wasn't at work today. I just put away  DVDs and cleaned and repaired the rest of those in my "repair" pile.  Then I cleaned up their kitchen and put away their dishes.

After work Bob came over for an hour and a half.  After he left I took my bath and watched TV for awhile...until 9:00 and then I went on to bed.

Wednesday and Exercise Class and Work

I went to the market yesterday at Wal Mart. How I dislike that store! It's clear across town and every time I go out there, I swear it's the last time. I know Country Mart is higher priced but at least I don't have to drive 6 1/2 miles (one way) and then have a hard time finding what I'm looking for. I forgot to buy tuna so when the dollar store opens I will walk over there and buy a can.  I thought I had some but it turned out to be boned chicken. I also need pimento for my recipe of tuna noodle casserole. And I need to get some frozen peas for the recipe too so I may as well go to Country Mart.

Yesterday at work, I put away dozens of DVDs.  Then I also scanned another aisle of bar codes. Last of all, I cleaned four DVD/games before my day was over.

I noticed one small boy pulling DVDs out of the bookcases in a stack of 15.  I told the mother he could only take 5 at a time. She said he could have 15. I told her to check with the librarians because I had been told the limit for any one child was 5. She checked and I was correct. So the little boy's mother just stuck them back in the case randomly. Which meant I had to pull them out and file them alphabetically again.

Why would anyone let a child take 15 DVDs anyhow? That would mean the child would be sitting hour after hour watching one video after another.  The mother should be reading to him or letting him go outside and play. I cannot for the life of me understand these "modern" mothers. We had TV when my kids were young (and with a lot better programming) but they were only allowed to watch Captain Kangaroo in the morning and Walt Disney Presents on Sunday evening. They were not allowed to watch TV for hour after hour. They played outdoors or in the summertime we went to the pool.  None of my kids were fat either.  They got lots of exercise and were not allowed junk food.

It's a modern problem.

One good thing was the quiet. The kids were mostly at the pool, I guess.  I was able to scan bar codes without a noise distraction.

More later....

Well dinner was good and we'll have it again tomorrow. Bob will make more salad.

I worked on putting away DVDs today and cleaning DVDs and repairing them.  I also put away the new books in a special bookcase just for them and I sorted the newspapers and stacked them on the shelves in the back room..

When I got home Bob came over to watch the news and have wine and ice cream.  He left at 7:00 and I took my bath and will lay in the recliner with Missy for awhile.

Then I'll go to bed. I was up entirely too early this morning.  Tomorrow is house cleaning day again.

Tuesday Again

I will have a very busy morning today. I have a haircut appointment with Kathy this morning at 9:00 and afterward I will go to Caney to pick up my new contacts. Then onto their post office to mail off the newspapers I collected for the kids.  Then I will get home too late to cook so Bob and I will eat at El Pueblo. Then he will drop me off at the library for work. He will have to come back for me at 5:00. I still have not made it to the market and I am out of everything.  I must go in the morning. I may just break down and go to Country Mart this morning early even though they are more expensive. They open at 7:00.

I read last night since there was nothing to watch on TV.  PBS is having their fundraiser and is running reruns. Summer is mostly reruns anyhow. I have a stack of magazines to catch up on. I may take one with me to the beauty shop.

Missy has been wanting to go outside. Now that summer is nearly here, she wants outside constantly. She loves to eat grass and probably needs it. I feel for her but there are two neighbor cats that are interested in visiting her and she is very wary of any strange cat since she was so badly hurt a couple of years ago.

More later.....

This is a photo of the birdhouse Ginger's aunt made for me. I hung it yesterday.

Here is another view. I am thinking of staining it with some varnish I have here.

More news later.....

I got my hair done then went to Caney to pick up my contacts and mail the package of newspapers to Scott and Ginger.  The Coffeyville Journal did not use the story...can't say that I'm surprised.    I also stopped at the bank there to see what the balance on my car is. I still owe a little over $5400 on it. So I guess I will continue working and make two payments each month until the job is finished in September 30th 2016. If it's not paid off by then I will use some of my small savings to finish the job.

Bob will come by tonight and we will have a glass of wine and watch another episode of "The Roosevelts".

Monday and Back to Work

We had a really good time at Branson, this past weekend. We saw the Pierce Arrow show Saturday evening after eating our lunch at Olive Garden. Scott and Ginger had given me a gift card for Olive Garden in a huge basket of gifts they brought for me for the wedding.  This was the first opportunity I had to use it and it covered all but $6.00 of our lunch. Many thanks to the kids! I love Olive Garden.

Then Sunday morning we had a huge cinnamon roll with coffee from Panera Bread. It is located right across the street from our motel. We went to a favorite buffet for lunch before we left for home.

When I got home and turned on the TV last night, I found  I had lost half my stations. Everything was reruns anyhow but it's the principle of the thing. I guess it was the heat that affected the cable.  Anyhow by this morning, it was back on.

This morning we have exercise class at 9:00. I will drive this time. Bob needs to get gas after our trip.  His "need gas" light was on when we approached the town.

Missy and I slept really well last night. Exhaustion helps, I guess.

We will have chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and gravy, a veggie and salad for our lunch.

More later....

Dinner was good and Bob took homer a couple of chicken tenders and his leftover  salad. He will eat that for his supper.

Today at work I put away hundreds of DVDs. Then Katie had me take the green stickers of a cart full of books. They use those green stickers to mark new books. After awhile, they have me peel them off.  Then I put away books and magazines. ...and more DVDs.

Bob will come over after awhile for wine and the news. Then this evening I will read.  I have  a pile of magazines.

I received no mail today. The paper may have just come. I'll check.

I want to take a photo of the little birdhouse Ginger's aunt sent me. She sent one to John and Leslie too. Leslie brought me mine this morning and I hung it up.
