Saturday and Laundry

I slept well last night for a change but still was up at 4:00AM. I dressed, made my bed and got myself ready for the day.

I may do laundry this morning. I should have changed my bed but made it up before I thought of it. I'll change it tomorrow or Monday.

I have a pesky fly in the apartment and I have tried to swat it but missed.  Now I have lost track of it. It's 5:23AM now. Blondie cold be out front waiting for me to open the door and get him his breakfast. I will check that out and the weather report too in a minute when I finish my coffee.

More Later...

Blondie came for his breakfast. I took him out both wet cat food and dry cat food and he ate some of each. He is finished now and probably gone.

Here's "the weather on the 8's"

Today is to be 90 degrees and partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be 86 degrees partly cloudy, Monday is to be 87degrees and Mostly sunny, Tuesday is o be 91 degrees and partly cloudy, Wednesday is to be 90 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 80 degrees and sunny, and  Friday is to be 93 degrees and sunny. That's the week...hot but not as unbearable. And at least not in the 100's!

More Later...

I took my walk at 6:45AM and got back home at 7:15AM. I got very little trash this morning. Maybe I am making some headway.

I took the Gresham book to the library and dropped it in the book drop and enclosed a note telling them it was for their book sale. I still have two more books to read that Denise gave me.

I started another of the books Denise gave me and only stopped when it was time to go pick up Sally for lunch at Copan Restaurant. We got sandwiches and only were only able to eat half so we asked for a box for the remaining half and brought that home for tomorrow sometime.

I went through all my photograph albums to see if I had any photos of Diana, my other niece. I didn't have any. She was older then any of my kids and didn't come to our house to stay a few days as David did (for Keith) and Denise did (for Leslie). We didn't have Dennis down either. We had no kids near his age either. He was younger.

I did get a handful of peanut M & Ms and ate those.

Now I will get back to my book for the afternoon.

More Even Later...

At about 5:00PM, I went to the fundraiser for River Rose, the young man here who needs money for necessary medical treatment. This was held at the Trinity Lutheran Church. I had gone to lunch with Sally and just wanted to buy some homemade ice cream. I really wasn't hungry. But homemade ice cream sounded very good. I had a bowl of that.

I read most of the afternoon. Denise got a hold of me with a lot of photos of her folks. She texted them to me. They evidently were on her phone.

It's 7:02PM and I just had my warm bath and put my pajamas on. It's 88 degrees out now. Mike is supposed to mow for me tomorrow afternoon. It's supposed to be 86 degrees tomorrow.

I will go back to my book until 9:00 when I usually go to bed.

Friday and Reading

It's been a short night. I was awake after two a clock and no matter what I tried, I couldn't get back to sleep. Finally at 3:30AM, I just got up, made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day. It's 5:00AM now..my regular time to get up. I am having my coffee, Chai and a breakfast bar now.

It's too early for Blondie to be out there for his breakfast. I will go turn on the TV and wait for "the weather on the 8's" to come on.

So More Later...

I finally caught "the weather on the 8's" and it is better. Not  today but next week looks better.

Today is to be 104 degrees and Mostly sunny, Tomorrow is to be 92 degrees and Partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 85 degrees and AM showers, Monday is to be 88 degrees and Mostly sunny, Tuesday is to be 90 degrees and Mostly sunny, Wednesday is to be 89 degrees and Sunny, and  Thursday is to be 88 degrees and Sunny.

That's a lot better then temperatures in the 100's.

I am picking up my niece, Denise, this noon and we are going to the Dairy Queen in Independence for lunch...my treat. She paid last time we had lunch.

More Later...

I took my Coffeyville library book back and put it in their book drop. Then I went to pick up Denise. We went to Independence to the Dairy Queen to get their $7.00  lunch special. Denise got their cheese burger, fries and Coke with hot fudge sundae for dessert and I got the chicken strips, fries and Coke and hot fudge sundae. As we were eating, John Brooks came in and when he got his dinner he came and sat with us. He showed Denise his oil paintings. He had taken photos of all of them with his phone. He is very talented.

I read all afternoon after I took Denise home. I almost finished another book...one of the ones Denise gave me.

Mike, who mows for me will be mowing on Sunday. It will be down in the 80's by then.

I took my bath at 7:00PM and then went back to my book. It's 8:23PM now. I will go back to my book until 9:00PM, when I will go to bed.

Thursday and a Trip to See Nancy

In a while I will go down to Bartlesville to do two things...go to the Bartlesville Walmart to buy the three ink cartridges for my printer and see Nancy at her apartment at Assisted Living across the road from the Walmart there.

That will take awhile. First I also want to wash my car at Okie's.

It's supposed to be 103 degrees here in Caney today and partly cloudy. In a short while while the temperature is still mild, I will take my walk.

It's to be 103 degrees here today and partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be 103 too mostly sunny,  Saturday is to be 99 degrees and partly cloudy and Sunday is to be 85 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, Monday is to be 88 degrees and mostly sunny, Tuesday is to be 88 degrees and sunny, and Wednesday is to be 87 degrees and  sunny. Only Sunday with the possibility of thunderstorms.  But at least the temperatures will be out of the 100's.

Blondie was waiting for me to open the door and see him and get him fed so that's what I did. He ate quite a bit and left and i took his food to the garage and covered it. He ate most all of the wet food  and some of the dry food too.

I want to take my walk now while it's only 74 degrees. I will take my walk at 7:15AM.

So More Later...

I got back from my walk at 7:50AM. I didn't get a lot of trash but that's a good thing. It's 79 degrees now. It got 5 degrees hotter while I was gone.

I see the betterment committee has a  fundraiser for River Rose's medical treatment on Saturday at 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Also homemade ice cream . It's a donation of $8.00 for a dinner of chili  or soup and $4.00 for the homemade ice cream. There's also a silent auction. River Rose is a young man in our community who is in need of medical treatment  That's what the fund raiser is about. I will go about 5:00PM. It's a very good and worthy cause.

More Later...

I have been trimming the hedge. It's not exactly like I want it but it's a lot better. I need to dry my face and get down to Bartlesville. It's 9:24AM now.  I want to get my car washed and  get over to Walmart there to look for those ink cartridges.

I stopped at Walmart in Bartlesville and bought the three ink cartridges for my printer. Then I went to Opie's and had my car washed. I dried it and vacuumed it out. It looks nice now.

Then I went to see Nancy. Again, she was still in bed and in her night gown. And it was 10:30AM. I got her up. I told her there wasn't any sense for me to come down to visit her if she was always in bed in her night clothes. It won't do any good, of course. But it is aggravating.

I got the ink cartridges at Walmart there in Bartlesville and installed them when I got home, Still there was an error message on the printer. I couldn't figure out what was wrong so I called Leslie and she came down to check it out. It took her about two minutes. I had installed one of the cartridges backward. She switched it and we were in business. I am so ignorant about some things on this printer. It's a lot more complicated then my old one that I have had since 1998.

Then I gave her the gift I had bought in Chetopa when Karan and I were coming home from the campgrounds last month.

It's 96 degrees right now at 7:44PM. I have just taken my nice warm bath. It's so good to have a nice warm bath again. And then I finished the book I had been reading all afternoon. I will get back to the one I started earlier this week now until 9:00PM when I go to bed..

It's 8:42PM and I am ready to go to bed. It's earlier then usual but  I am tireder then usual. So I am going to take my evening med and go on to bed. It's 94 degrees out there now.

Wednesday and a Hair Appointment

I slept until 6:30AM...almost unheard of in my experience, I am usually up at 5:00AM. I made my bed, dressed and got myself ready for the day.

When I finally got in the living room and opened the front door , Blondie was waiting for his breakfast. Before I even turned on the TV, I went and filled his dish and took it out to him. He is still eating out there.

Then I caught 'the weather on the 8's" and the news is bad again.

Today  is to be 101 degrees and partly cloudy, tomorrow is to be  103 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 103 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday is to be 99 degrees and partly sunny, Sunday is to be 92 degrees and isolated thunderstorms, Monday is to be 89 degrees and AM thunderstorms, and Tuesday is to be 87 degrees and sunny.

The good news is there is a chance of rain three days this week.Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, The bad news is the temperatures almost all week are in the 100's. But at least it looks like some possibility of relief from the terrible heat.

More Later.. I want to take my walk before I leave for Coffeyville and my hair appointment. And it's 7:36AM already. My hair appointment is at 9:00AM.

I got to my hair appointment in plenty of time. Toni had gone to work out at the gym. I got my hair done and went to South Coffeyville to get gas again.

After that I went to the library and sat there until 12:30:00 PM and read. Then I went to the senior center and read until 1:00PM and time for game day. That ended at 3:00PM and I came back home. Leslie had got the printer hooked up just fine but all three color cartridges were needing to be replaced. So I will go to Walmart tomorrow when I go down to see Nancy at Bartlesville and get those three replaced. Then I should be able to use the printer again.

I need to take some Ibuprofen again. My arm has been hurting all afternoon,

More later... It's 6:34PM and I think I will take my bath. I am very tired. After I get my bath I will read until my bedtime..usually at 9:00PM but as tired as I am I may not be able to stay awake.

Tuesday and Apartment Cleaning

I decided I needed to clean the apartment today. I usually do that on Monday but Monday I just wasn't up to it. I got more meds for the Shingles yesterday afternoon. I had to argue with the doctor though. I don't know why he would think I would be healed in one week. I still have pain in my left arm but the ones on my chest are gone. I still have a patch on my back and the under the left arm is the worse part.

I can take two Ibuprofen for the pain three times a day with food the Pharmacist told me yesterday.

Blondie came for his breakfast this morning and ate his fill from both the wet cat food and the dry cat food. When I was sure he was finished, I took the cat food back in the house  and put what little was left of the wet cat food back in the container it came in , sealed that and put it in the frig. The dry food I took to the garage and covered it. That's it for another day.

I caught "the weather on the 8's" this morning and it's not much better.

Today is to be 101 degrees and partly cloudy,  tomorrow is to be 101 again and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 103 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 103 degrees and  partly cloudy, Friday is to be 103 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday is to be 95 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 89 degrees and partly cloudy, and Monday is to be 87 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the week..again..no rain!

I will check the bank now.

More Later...

I took my walk from 7:05 till 7:38. I picked  up some trash but not a lot.  I guess when I do it every morning, it becomes easier.

I guess I will begin the mopping. It won't get done unless I start cleaning.

I got it finished and then called Sally to see if she wanted to go to lunch, She said she was in the dental office and was going to get her broken tooth repaired. I guess I will either have a TV dinner or go eat lunch by myself. I guess I will check out what is in the freezer. Whatever it is it has been in there for awhile.

More Later..

I had a lunch from the freezer but was not impressed. I should have gone to Eggbert's I guess.

As it was, I was reading and fell asleep. When I awoke I tried to hook up the printer again but was not successful in getting it to work, With Keith in Germany my only other option would be Cox Complete Care,

Maybe they can send someone here that knows how to get it to work.

Without a manual, my hands are tied.

Leslie says she can hook it up and will stop by tomorrow afternoon and do it. Probably about 2:00PM

I took out the 250 printer cartridge they said needed changing. I put  a new one in.

Stephen came this evening to put the new tank in, The one he brought did not fit so he made  a trip to Bartlesville to Lowe's and bought one that did fit. Then he came back and installed it,\ It's 9:55 now and he just finished. He says he will come back tomorrow and check it out and make sure everything is working properly. He set the tank on "hot". There were several settings he could have set it on. We thought "hot" would be fine.

It's 9:59PM now and I am going to run some water in the tub and take a bath and put my pajamas on and go to bed. My left arm is a little sore so I will eat something and then take some Ibuprofen and go on to bed.

More Tomorrow...

Monday and A Mess

Yesterday was a huge mess.  The hot water tank, which was in a cabinet in the garage, went out. There was water all over the floor in the den. The carpet was soaked. I first checked the outside faucet. I had noticed it had a small leak. That wasn't it. I then checked the hot water tank and sure enough, that's what it was. The tray at the bottom of the tank, was full and running over and leaking under the wall to the den. I texted Stephen, my landlord, about it and also my daughter, Leslie. She said they were on their way over to Caney and would be here shortly. Stephen was at work at Walmart in Coffeyville and had to stay until closing there but would be right over as soon as he could. John and Leslie came first. John investigated the tank and turned off the water and the gas to it. Stephen had contacted a friend of  his that was a plumber at the hospital where Stephen has his primary job as a pharmacist.  His name was Travis. He came right over from Coffeyville but John had already done what he intended to do when he got here.

As soon as Stephen was free, he came over too and he had bought a huge fan and a vacuum pump that he had bought to vacuum up the water in the carpet. He must have worked at least an hour doing that. Then he put the fan on the carpet under the daybed after he moved the daybed away from the wall. The fan ran all night there and when I got up at 5:00AM, I moved the trundle to the daybed back under the daybed and moved the fan to cover the east wall. The west side of the room, where the daybed had originally sat and the fan was on all night, was dry.

It's a mess but I slept like a baby last night. I had closed the door to the den and that muffled the noise. My shingles didn't even keep me awake although my left arm part is still sore this morning. I am down to my last pill for  the shingles. I will have to talk to the pharmacist at Caney Drug today.

I did catch the weather report though when I first turned on the TV.

Today is to be 104 degrees and sunny, tomorrow is to be 102 and mostly sunny, Wednesday is to be 101 and mostly sunny, Thursday is to be 103 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 103 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday is to be 96 degrees and mostly sunny and Sunday is to be 91 degrees and mostly cloudy. Another steaming week!

More Later...

Blondie came for his breakfast and ate his fill of both the wet cat food and the dry cat food and I just put his dish back in the garage and covered it. He had very little wet cat food left but I put it back in one of the packages it came in and put it in the frig so it would keep.

Stephen came and checked out the progress on the drying of the carpet. He and I put the trundle back under the daybed and Stephen pushed it back where it belonged.

Then he took the vacuum over to his apartment east of mine in the duplex and said he had a little water that came from my tank into his apartment. I guess it would have been even worse if the tray that held the water was on the east side of the cabinet holding the water instead of on the west side. But any water in both apartments is not good. As I was taking my walk, I saw him in his pickup heading the the highway. If it isn't completely dry, it could develop mold and that could be a problem to our health.

I was going to take my walk now and leave the door open so if Stephen came while I was gone he could get in to check everything out. Instead I may wait awhile though. He may not be comfortable to come in when I am not here,

I went up to Independence this morning to the hearing aid place to have that receptionist show me once more how to change the stems and the little part that fits into my ear.  She was very good about showing me again.

I called Caney Drug and asked about getting a refill on my shingles med. They will check with the doctor and let me know later today what he said and refill it if he agrees to it.

He didn't agree to it. It seems the nurse who handled the Urgent Care prescribed it...not Lori or Doctor Christensen. I told her I still have a rash in my left armpit that burns like fire and wakes me up at 2:00AM or 4:00AM.

She said she would talk to that nurse. It appears she just wants me to tough it out. That would be fine if she would be willing to share the pain...but of course, that isn't going to happen.

More Even Later...

I finally talked to Doctor Christensen and explained that I needed an antibiotic or something to take the place of the Acyclovir I had been taking five times daily for the shingles. He prescribed Gabapentin which he said would take care of the inflammation that caused the pain.

We will see!

I pulled the file cabinet into the den and put the lamp on it. All that leaves to put back where it belongs is the printer table and printer. But there was no way I could move that. I did get the vacuum out and  vacuum up some grass in the den.

About dinner time, I called Sally to see if she wanted to go somewhere for dinner. I had not had lunch and only had a breakfast bar and coffee and Chai Latte for breakfast. She agreed and I suggested we go to the Dairy Queen for their $7.00 special. She was agreeable for that. It's always very good. That's what we did. I got back to Caney a little late for Stephen. The dinner took longer then we thought. He was going to be here at 7:30PM and I was 20 minutes later then that. I hated that but he still seemed agreeable.

After he left, I took my cold bath and put my pajamas on and decided to go to bed shortly. It's 9:08PM now. A little past my regular bed time.

Sunday and Church

I was up early again..about 4:00AM. My shingles were hurting again and I needed to get my coffeecake in the oven anyhow.  After I got that done I took some more Ibuprofen.. I washed my dishes and warmed up a muffin before I took my shingles med and the Ibuprofen. I am really ready for this mess to clear up!

Now I will go check out the weather and see if Blondie is out front for his breakfast...probably not...it's only 6:04AM. But I will check anyhow.

Sure enough, he was out there waiting for me to open the door..I fed him both wet cat food and dry cat food and he ate his fill and left. I took the cat food into the garage and covered it.

I had mixed up the coffeecake and baked it before I took my walk while I was looking up "the weather on the 8's".

It's going to be horrendous today... hot, hot, hot! Today will be 108 degrees and sunny, tomorrow is to be 106 degrees and  sunny, Tuesday is to be 103 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 103 degrees and sunny, Thursday is to be 102 degrees and partly cloudy, Friday is to be 102 degrees and mostly sunny, and Saturday is to be 95 degrees and partly cloudy.  Terribly hot all week and no rain at all. That's going to be unbearable!

I took my walk this morning while it was only 74 degrees. I got a little trash but not a lot! It's 7:32AM  now and  still 74 degrees and sunny..

I want to leave for Coffeyville at 9:00AM so I will have time to go to the bank and get my week's cash and also go out to Woodshed and buy gas if I have the time. The breakfast is at 10:00AM.

More Later...

I got cash from the bank and gas at Woodshed. I also took my Coffeyville library book back to their drop box.

Then I went on to church. We had our breakfast and also  the worship service.  Leslie did very good job with her service..including her sermon.

Phyllis and I had lunch at Eggbert's in Coffeyville. Then I came on back home. I was going to do my letters but when I went into the den, I noticed there was wall to wall water on the carpet. I checked the plumbing out at the outside faucet and there was a small leak there but nothing to the extent of the mess in the den where there was wall to wall water on the carpet. I texted Stephen and also Leslie about it and Stephen was at work at Walmart's pharmacy and couldn't come out until he got off work.

I continued to look for the source of the water and discovered it was the hot water tank and told Stephen about it. He called a friend of his who was a plumber at Coffeyville's hospital. His name was Travis. In the meanwhile, John had hooked up my hose and also turned off the water at the tank and also turned off the gas to the tank. That was what Travis was going to do and John had already done that.

I told Stephen that my kids had moved all the small furniture out of the den and the remaining furniture was the daybed and trundle and the computer Armour and those bookcases and all those books.

Stephen will come out here after he gets off work at Walmart and bring a wet vacuum to try to vacuum up all that water. It's always something. I need to get a fan and set it up to try to get some of that  carpet dried. I don't have one.  I should have a box fan but I don't. There doesn't appear to be any water around those bookcases but there is around the computer Armour and the daybed..

More Later...

Stephen came  about 7:00PM an bought a big nice pump to vacuum the carpet in the den. He went over everything and even pulled out the trundle of the daybed and vacuumed out three tanks of water from the carpet from the hot water tank.. It came into the den from under the wall from the garage where the tank was located. He will be back tomorrow evening after he gets off work hopefully with a new hot water tank. He thinks he may not get it installed until at least Tuesday. After his job at the hospital he works until closing at Wal Mart in their pharmacy.

I will take a cool bath tonight since the tank is evidently empty now. That shouldn't be a problem. He also bought a huge fan to dry the carpet in the den. He worked with that carpet vacuum for an hour and a half.  He was really tired when he finished. And he had to drive back to Owasso after he left.

Tomorrow evening he will come back to reposition the fan to the east side of the den. Then he may put the daybed back against the west wall in the den and put the trundle back under it.

More tomorrow. I want to take my cool bath now and put my pajamas on and read awhile. It's 8:42PM now.
