Saturday and Breakfast Out

I got up this morning around 4:00. I evidently had my sleep out. I have had some Chai Latte but am waiting to hear from Bob to eat breakfast. He may want to go to Eggberts for breakfast. If not, I will just have my oatmeal.

I have fed Missy and she is back on my bed taking a nap now.

I don't have a plan for today. I read most of the day yesterday.

Marilyn contacted me yesterday to say she had decided she had better not go to Joplin for lunch tomorrow. Her family usually calls her and visits with her on her birthday and tomorrow is her birthday. I certainly understand that. I will get her a birthday card today. She has been a good neighbor.

Bob just contacted me and he does want to go to breakfast. He will be by at 6:50 to pick me up.
So...more later....

I took Leslie some flowers and talked to her about her surgery that she had last Wednesday. She was busy planting bulbs so I didn't stay long. The new puppy is really growing and she is very pretty.

I went by the church and printed off the bulletins on my way home. I also left my cake in the freezer there since I will be in Kansas City for my surgery on Tuesday. Bob will take the cakes to Independence on Tuesday.

I still have nothing planned for today either. I may run down to Bartlesville just for something different to do.

More later....

I didn't go out of town after all. I had computer problems and had to recycle everything to get back online.  That took the better part of an hour.

Then I noticed the notebook was updating Windows 10. Then it crashed. It took about ten minutes to get it back up. This has not been one of my better afternoons.

Bob dropped by and picked up a hamburger I had fixed a couple of days ago. I wasn't going to eat it so he had better have it. Joanne cooked for his today. That's good.  I never did get around to eating anything after I had that large breakfast. It's 6:00 now and I will soon take my bath and get ready to watch TV with Missy.

So more later...

Missy and I watched the old movie "What's Up, Doc" until 9:00 and then went on to bed.

Friday and Exercise Class

I slept well last night and got up only once in the night. I got up at 5:00, as usual, and dressed for the day. I fed Missy and myself and cleaned out the litter box.

I considered going to Ken Winston's funeral but finally decided against it. I will go to exercise class instead and afterward maybe to Utopia.  I believe it's cinnamon roll day.

I weighed this morning and it appears I have lost four pounds. I guess it has something to do with not cooking anymore. I did go out to Walmart yesterday afternoon and buy five  more of those $1.88 Walmart frozen dinners. They are really pretty good. I sure don't miss cooking. It was pretty expensive too. I checked and I was spending between $200 and $300 a month on groceries not even counting eating out once or twice a week or what I spent in cash.  And John and Leslie provided me with ground beef.

I also stopped by Family Dollar and bought three more packages of Missy's treats.

My surgery is Tuesday and Leslie and I will be going to Kansas City on Monday the 20th and staying overnight at Sheri's. Then if I do have to stay overnight, Leslie will stay another night with Sheri.

Juanita called yesterday afternoon and her doctor thinks she has a skin cancer on her neck and wants her to go to Dr. Eslicker's in Bartlesville to have it removed. She also wants a mole on her face removed. It bothers her. She wanted me to call the office and get her an afternoon appointment. The appointment is at 2:00 on March 29th. I hope Dr. P. will let me drive a week after my surgery.  I will need to take her down to Bartlesville.

More later....

I read all afternoon and this evening after 6:00 I took my bath and put my PJs on so I coud watch a movie with Missy on TV. We watched :The American President". It was very cute and entertaining. Then we watched another American Experience episode on the American presidents and I watched the last episode about Franklin Roosevelt.

We went to bed at 9:30.

Thursday and Cleaning Day

I slept pretty well last night although I got up early. I started thinking about my Sunday sermon and decided to revise it. The theme is "Glorify God" and I started thinking about how we do that. And then I started thinking about the death of Stephen Hawking and his remarkable life. That got my brain working so I revised my sermon for Sunday.

I would post it here but  it's five pages long...too long for a post.

I cleaned the apartment this morning. I need to do another load of laundry but I don't quite have enough. Maybe by this evening I will have more.

I need to go to the market too. I need several more "singles" Walmart frozen dinners. They are only $1.88 each and are pretty good too. I also need milk and I get that over at Brahms. That's just a block away.

So, more later....

Juanita called me on her way home. She had been to her doctor and he thinks she has a skin cancer on her neck and wants Dr. Eslicker to biopsy it. He thinks it's skin cancer.  She also wants him to take a mole off her face.  I made her an appointment for March 29th at 2:00 in the afternoon. Hopefully Dr. P will let me drive a week after the surgery. She has no other transportation but me. I will know  by Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

I got enough frozen food for another week at Wal Mart and also got Missy three packages of her Meow Mix treats at Family Dollar. I stopped at Brahms and got my milk too.

Now I am waiting for the newspaper. It's after 4:00 so it may be here now. I will go look.

The paper was here and I read it and also did the crossword puzzle. Later, I took my bath and Missy and I lay on the sofa and watched  an American Experience episode on Amazon.

We went to bed shortly after 9:00.

Wednesday and a Dinner Theater in Kansas City

I slept well last night but got up just before 5:00.

Today is our dinner theater in Kansas City.

Bob will pick me up about 6:45 for our trip to Independence to the tour bus.  He will get all four of us and so the five of us will spend the day on the tour bus and the New Theater. The bus loads at 7:20.

Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds of the 20th century,  died yesterday. He suffered for decades with ALS and outlived almost everyone with that terrible disease. In 1988, after his best selling book, "A Brief History of Time" came out, I bought and read it. It completely changed my understanding of the origin of the universe.  I have virtually no scientific education but he explained  everything so well, that I felt I had a light grasp of the subject matter. I had watched all of the science series on TV of Carl Sagan and was really interested in the subject. I later bought another of his books "The Grand Design".

This will have to be finished this afternoon. So, more later....

Bob came just as I was typing the above.

We had a fine time yesterday. In the back of my mind most of the day was the fact that my daughter was having her surgery on her nose where she had had squamous cell carcinoma diagnosed. She and John went to Tulsa for her 8:30 surgery. During dinner she finally texted me that it appears to be fine. She goes back in two weeks for an evaluation and perhaps have her stitches out.

We enjoyed the play and dinner. We gt back home about 7:30. I pretty much took my bath and watched one program on Amazon before Missy and I went on to bed about 9:00..

Tuesday and Hair Day

I slept very well last night and didn't wake up until 4:00 to go to the bathroom and take my thyroid med. Then I went back to bed and slept until my regular 5:00. Then I bribed Missy to get off the bed so I could make it by offering to give her her treats right away, That did it!  she jumped right down and went to the kitchen. After I fed her and filled her empty water dish, I went back to make the bed and also got myself ready for the day. Sometimes you just have to bribe an old cat!

I will go to Independence by myself this morning. I will kill some time until I can pick up my prescription after 11:00. I may go visit with Juanita and see if she would like to eat lunch out today.

More later....

I talked to my neighbor, Marilyn, last night and learned that her birthday is next Sunday. I asked her to go with me after church Sunday to Joplin so I could treat her to lunch for her birthday. I am speaking at church on Sunday so I asked her to go to church with me and she is thinking about it. I also told her I could just drop by the apartments after church and pick her up. (She likes to sleep in. She is a night owl.)

More later....

I was telling my landlady about the scam and she suggested I should report it to the police so they can warn others about it on their website. I called them and they are supposed to send an officer out to interview me so they will have the details. I haven't seen one yet but it's still the lunch hour so it may be later....

The police officer, Craig, came and I made the report. Marilyn gave me the telephone number she had written down the the name of the province in China the money went to.

I went to have my car washed and also out to South Coffeyville for gasoline. I should be fixed for at least a week now.  I do need to go to the bank and get some more money for our trip tomorrow.

More later...

I went to the bank and  then came home and read the paper before taking my bath and getting ready for bed. Missy and I watched "The Goodbye Girl" on Amazon TV..

We went to bed at 9:15. Big day tomorrow!

Monday and Exercise Class

I slept very well last night. I awoke once but got right back to sleep. I slept until almost 5:00 AM and then got up and got myself ready for the day and fed Missy and myself.

I will go to exercise class this morning. I don't have a plan for the rest of the day.

Missy is back on my bed napping again. Cats sleep about 85% of their life but I think Missy even sleeps more. It's only 6:15 and she's back to sleep.

I haven't heard anything from my boys this week. I know they're busy. Scott will be starting his new job. Keith may be on the road again.

I plan to go with Bob and Joanne and Phyllis and Karan on Wednesday to the bus tour to Kansas City for a dinner theater. Bob will drive us all five to Independence where the bus will be loaded.

Then, of course, I will clean the apartment on Thursday.

Next Tuesday on the 20th, I will have my surgery in Kansas City.  We will go up on Monday and stay overnight with Sheri, Karan's daughter, there and go in to the hospital at 6:00 AM on Tuesday...the day of the surgery. They say I will have to stay overnight in the hospital and come back home on Wednesday.  I am anxious to find out what sort of recovery I will need. I know Dr. P said I was not to lift anything heavier then 10 pounds. I shopped at Walmart yesterday afternoon and found a box of litter that only weighed ten pounds. It is still in the car but I will bring it in later this morning when it gets light.

More later...

I brought the litter in and it wasn't too heavy.

My neighbor came over this afternoon to get her computer worked on She had been hacked and scammed.  She lost $500 in the last week to someone in China who took over her computer and froze it so she couldn't use it. To get it repaired they gave her a telephone number to call. They pretended they were Microsoft. They demanded the money to clean up her computer. I have a program that cleaned it up and restored it. All she lost was the $500 but that was $500 too much. I had the same scam several months ago and when they wanted money for me to fix it, I told them the truth. I had no money. I had $35 in the bank at that time. So he left my computer alone and I contacted Cox and they cleaned up the mess he left.

They told me Microsoft does not give anyone their phone number. I never click on any links I am not familiar with and will not open any suspicious looking sites.

This evening, I downloaded "When Harry Met Sally" and watched it until 9:00 when Missy and I went to bed.

Sunday and a Basket Dinner

I forgot to set my clocks ahead last night but luckily I woke up at 4:00/5:00 and reset the clocks then.

The pastors had decided to have a basket dinner at the last moment last evening. I set some ground beef patties in the frig to thaw overnight. I was out of ground beef and I wanted to make a meatloaf for the dinner. I also made my coffeecake for the church school class. I called Phyllis to see if she had been notified and learned Sue had left a message on her phone. She was not prepared either. She had to thaw something out and made a veggie dish and a cake.

It's 8:15 now and I have my two dishes in a box to put in my trunk. I don't have time to make anything else. I will pick up Bob A and Phyllis F at 9:00. I will leave about 8:45 or so.

I slept pretty well last night. I woke up once in the night and took my med. Then it was nearly 4:00 when I woke up again. The first thing I did was reset my clocks to 5:00 and then after I fed myself and Missy I started cooking.

I texted Bob to see if he was making his deviled eggs. They always go over well.

He hadn't done anything yet.I hope he gets to it.

More later...

Bob decided not to stay for the lunch, He went with Joanne to eat out instead.

We had a good sized group.  They almost all stayed for the lunch and we had a lot of food.  We always do!

I came home and gave Carmen the leftovers I brought home.  One of the men in Rick's office was hungry but I sure wasn't. So I sent my food back with her. I also copied  off my microwave meatloaf recipe for her and Phyllis. They both wanted it. It's so simple.

I also sent off the weekly congregational newsletter.

More later....

Carol asked for the recipe for the microwave meatloaf so I put it in the "comments" area of this post.

I read all afternoon and later, after 7:00 and 60 Minutes and their  second episode  I downloaded and rented  "The Mirror Has Two Faces" from Amazon with Barbra Streisand. It had been years since I had seen that movie.  I enjoyed it. Missy and I went to bed about 10:00. I did take a melatonin tablet to help me sleep.
