Saturday and Mayfest in Caney

I slept well until 3:00 AM and then went in to go to the bathroom and take my med. I had just got back to bed when Missy did her little "mew" alarm and that told me she had missed the litter box and wet on the bathmat under it. Sure enough that was it. I wiped up the floor with an old rag, put the mat in the washer with the other two and put the last clean mat under the litter box. Then this morning I finally gave up trying to sleep and just got up at 4:00 AM again. I started the laundry with the mats in it and will put it in the dryer before I go in to feed Missy.  I will just stay home for breakfast. I haven't heard from Bob in a couple of days. He and Joanne must be very busy.

Missy is ready for her breakfast so I will get back to this later....

I have fed Missy and myself. I put that laundry in the dryer too. I don't know whether I will go over to Mayfest at Caney or not.  It may depend on how I feel later this morning. I usually go but either take Bob or Karan and Karan has gone to Texas to visit her sister.

I may go up to Independence again later to get my makeup base if the Merle Norman store is open on Saturdays. If I do that, I will also check on Juanita.

Alexa (my Echo) is playing my favorite Kenny Rogers music now and the song playing right now is "You Can't Make New Old Friends" and that always reminds me of my old friend, Bill.  He died last month and I sure miss him. There's an empty spot in his pew at church and in my heart. He was one of my dearest friends. We had been friends since I was 50 years old. That's 32 years. My other oldest friend is Gay. I have known her since she was 14 and I was 17 and she will turn 80 in September. It's true "you can't make new old friends".

Yesterday would have been my Bob's 88th birthday and a day doesn't go by that I don't miss him.

I will get back to this later. I just checked on Missy and she is in on my bed. I also left some of the laundry in the dryer and set it for another 15 minutes.

More later...It is 6:00 now and I want to watch the CBS news.

Back again...

I got the mats out of the dryer and the bras hanging on the shower rod to dry.  Missy is still on my bed napping. I have had my coffee and breakfast and a cup of Chai and one of cappuccino. I am full!.

I am feeling pretty good now so I may go on over to Mayfest at Caney.

So more even later..

Well, I did! I went to Mayfest briefly. I stayed perhaps a half hour and then Gay called and invited me to come up to Chanute for lunch. I bought June Friesberg's book and then left for Chanute. I got there shortly before she did. She had gone to an auction down the road. She soon arrived and we went in out of the heat.  She fixed lunch and we ate and then went into the living room and visited for a couple of hours. I left at 3:00 PM and got home about 4:00 PM . We had a good visit! I had left the windows up during my visit. The support I use for my phone on the dash came loose...not from the dash but from the adhesive that held the two parts of it together.

I used some gorilla glue and put the windows down so it might adhere. We will see what happens. I hope it holds.

Missy must have slept all day. The litter box was clean. I don't know what to expect this evening or tonight but I can probably guess.

The news will be on shortly......at least by 5:30 PM. At 7:00 PM, I will take my bath and then watch some Amazon Prime T.V. until 9:00 PM when I will go to bed.

Friday and Juanita's Surgery

I slept pretty well last night. Missy must have done better too.  I stayed up until 9:00PM and hoped that would help.  I got up at 4:30AM

Still she peed on the mat again so now there are four in the dryer. I did the laundry right after I got up.

I will leave about 9:15AM to go back to Independence to pick up Juanita and take her to Bartlesville to Dr. Holland's office for her surgery at 11:00AM. There are just a few spots on her neck that are small squamous cell carcinomas about the size of moles.  I hope he can do that in the office I simply could not take her to Tulsa. .I don't know my way around Tulsa anymore. And the traffic there is terrible. I am too old to deal with it.

It's almost 6:00AM  now.  I have had my breakfast and fed Missy too.

More later....

I left about 9:15 to go to Independence to pick up Juanita to take her to Bartlesville to have her surgery at Dr. Holland's office,  There were two places to be removed and he seemed to do a good job with both. After we left, we stopped at a Sonic in Dewey and she bought us some milk shakes, Then I took her back to Independence. I stopped at Walmart and bought peroxide and Neosporin. to use to clean it and doctor it and at her nurse's office and made an appointment with Jon Rodriguez to take her stitches out on the 6th of June. Then I took her home. We were both exhausted.

Then I called her sister in Topeka  and let her talk to her awhile.  Then I went home.

I took Missy out for awhile when I got home. I am so glad that is over. Now we wait for the lab work to see if he got it all.

More later...

I took Missy out again before the newspaper came and she waited with me for the newspaper. She was so glad to be able to get outside. She is beginning to mind much better.

I tried to get her to come watch "Nature" with me but she was curled up on my bed and I could not convince her.

Leslie called though. She tried to call me while I was in the bath but once again the sound was off...for some strange reason.   I texted her when I thought she would be home and she called again and we talked about their cruise. She and John and Cyndi and Jeff all went together. It was to Bermuda. Sounds like fun!.

Just before I went to bed, I had an e-mail/text from Scott. My flight number out to Seattle had changed and he sent me the new information. I shredded my old information for that flight and printed out the new and put it in my folder.  The flight number was all that had changed.  The times are the same.

I was so exhausted, I went on to bed and got right to sleep. Missy followed me in to bed later.

Thursday and Cleaning Day

I slept pretty well last night. Missy laid still most of the night. She must have been very tired too. I got up at 5:00 and made the bed and got myself ready for the day and fed Missy and myself.

Then I took her outside for awhile. She loves that!  Soon she wanted back in though and is now in on my bed asleep again. That cat sleeps her life away.

About an hour ago I started my cleaning with first the kitchen floor and then the bathroom. Then I vacuumed the apartment using the new Black and Decker vacuum sweeper Leslie bought for me. It is hard to push but does a great job on cat hair. I empty a huge amount of cat hair every time I vacuum. Missy must be shedding like mad.

I don't have a plan for today except the dusting. I am thinking of going over to Caney tomorrow evening for the presentation they are doing with Nancy for all that she did in helping them get the historical museum done.  There were really three of them but both the other two are deceased. The presentation service begins at 5:30 and also includes a dinner (for a donation). I hate eating late but would like to support Nancy. I'll wait and see how I feel after I take Juanita to Bartlesville for her doctor's appointment with Dr. Holland tomorrow. She is to have surgery on her neck for a squamous cell carcinoma (perhaps a cluster of them) and she is 96 years old and blind. I will probably get her home sometime in the late afternoon tomorrow.  I will have to see how that goes.

More later....

I went to the Country Time Antique Mall this morning about 10:30 and looked around until noon and then I went to the former Sirloin Stockade (now Kansas Buffet) and had lunch. It was good and under $10.00 for all I could eat and dessert too. I will probably do that once a week to get veggies and salad....although I didn't get salad today.

I came home and took Missy out on the patio until she wanted to come back in out of the heat.

Maureen came over to return the dish I had taken her some strawberries..she brought me some watermelon too. I haven't had any this year so I was happy to get it.

The only mail I got was an advertisement for White Mountain shoes...the last thing I need. I have a few pair of Clark winter shoes but many pair of all sorts of summer sandals.

More even later...

I sat out on the carport until the paper came and then I did the crossword puzzle before I took it over to Marilyn.

Missy is ready for her treats now...so more later...

She's had her treat and I have had some of the watermelon that Maureen brought me.

Now I am watching the news. At 7:00, I will take my bath and put my pjs on. Then Missy and I will watch some Amazon Prime TV. At 9:00, I plan to go to bed.

More later...

Wednesday and Exercises

I slept very poorly last night and finally just got up at 4:00 AM. Missy also was restless and that may have played into my problem.

I will go to exercise class this morning and stay for the birthday cake too. Afterward I will probably try to finish off my tomato basil soup for lunch.

Right now Missy is patiently waiting for her breakfast. She may have forgotten that I fed her at 4:30 AM. I will need to fix my own oatmeal though and have some coffee to get me going for the day. The news should be on now that it is 5:00 AM.

So, more later...

Well, I've had my breakfast and one cup of coffee. Now I have also had a piece of coffeecake and a cup of Chai. And, yes, I did give Missy some more treats. :)

The news is on and right now I have no further news. I also plan to go to game day at 1:00 PM..after lunch. I will take some of my cookies for the treat.

So, more even later....

I have done some laundry..yes, Missy did pee on another mat. ..and I have swept off the car port and the patio and done some watering of flowers. It may rain today so I won't do any more watering until I find out if it's going to rain.

In another two hours I will leave for exercise class.

I did attend exercise class and afterward had ice cream and cake for the birthdays of those who had a birthday in May. Kay baked the cake and someone brought ice cream. That was neat. Afterward, I went on back home and took Missy out on the carport for awhile then I had some more of the tomato basil soup with cheese and crackers  before I went on to game day. I ended up taking a dip and chips and sent what was left home with Marilyn R. We had a good time!

When I got home I read the newspaper and then took Missy back out for awhile but it had been raining and she wanted back in the apartment.

Now I am waiting for the news to come on to see if I get a signal. Sometimes rain interferes with the signal from my antenna. It took awhile to get a signal and it's touch and go to keep it. It is gone now.  It comes and goes.

I will watch TV when I can and log on to Amazon Prime if I lose the TV signal.

More even later...

I was watching the CBS news on Channel 6 out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they interrupted the programming to announce the Tulsa area weather.  It wasn't anything but a thunderstorm but I missed the CBS news. That's the only station I can get with the antenna Betty put in the attic when I canceled the cable. So I shifted over to Amazon Prime and watched another "Nature" episode then watched a program on the 1906 San Fransisco earthquake. At 10:00, Missy and I went to bed.

Tuesday and a Sleepless Night

I went to sleep right away when I went to bed last night but I awoke at 1:00 AM and didn't get back to sleep until about 3:00 AM. I just got up at 4:45 AM. Part of my problem was that Missy just couldn't seem to settle down and another was that my right arm hurt. I was very restless myself.

I may go back to Independence to balance Juanita's check book.  I planned to go up early on Friday at 9:00 AM before her 11:00 AM appointment with Dr. Holland in Bartlesville. But I may feel rushed if I wait that long. I have nothing planned for today since I had my hair done yesterday morning.

More later...

And that's what I did. I went to buy gas at South Coffeyville and then I went back up to Independence to balance Juanita's checkbook and wrote a couple of checks for her. I stayed to visit until after 1:00. Then I came home and took Missy out on the patio. She loves to be outside and really minds pretty well  to get to stay out. I watered my flowers and sat in the chair out there in the shade with her. She was laying under my chair.

I came in after an hour and made myself a smoothy out of milk, a banana and strawberries. That was the first food I had had since my breakfast at 6:00 this morning. Needless to say, it filled me up.

I will watch TV until 7:00 when I will take my bath and put my pjs on to watch some TV with Missy......probably another episode of "Nature".

More later....

Monday and a Hair Appointment in Independence

Kathy changed my hair appointment until today so she and her family could take off for Texas where they are going to visit their kids and grandchildren this week and over the Memorial Day holiday.

I will go out to the Walmart store in Independence while I am up there and buy Kleenex and wet wipes. Then I will come on back home. My appointment is at 8:30 so I will miss exercise class today.

Right now, Missy is patiently waiting for her breakfast. I got up shortly after 4:00. I couldn't sleep any longer. I have dressed and got myself ready for the day. I will fix my oatmeal after I get Missy fed.  It is 5:00 now.

So, more later...

I got everything I planned to get done before I left for Independence. Then after my appointment I went out to their Walmart and bought the few groceries I needed. Then I came back home and got here about 9:45. So, I have the day ahead of me.

I ordered a new book from Amazon to look over for our Church School class. It's another of the Brian McLaren books. They're pretty progressive. I should have it by the weekend and we can look it over before I order any more of them.

More later...

I took Missy out for about an hour...first on the patio and then on the carport. She has been very good..not wandering off. Maybe she has learned  that she gets to go out more if she's good.

Then I fixed myself some tomato basil soup with cheese and crackers for lunch. I always give Missy a tiny bit of cheese. She seems to like it. I will have a Schwan's ice cream bar for dessert.

More even later...

I have read all afternoon and finished one book and began another.

Keith, my older son, called me this afternoon and visited quite awhile. He has been gone out of the country a week or so to Athens, Greece.

Steve, who mows here for Betty took off work a little early this afternoon to get our mowing and trimming done. I am so glad! It looked terrible. I am used to keeping my yard looking neat even if I had to mow twice a week. We are lucky Betty is having Steve mow once a week. She used to have it done just once every two weeks and it looked terrible.

He is trimming now.

Notice how neatly he trims after he finishes mowing.

He does such a good job!  He is a perfectionist and he does it quickly yet thoroughly!

This bottom photo is the front...just off the carport.

I love it when someone takes pride in their work.

More later ...

Juanita called a little bit ago and she has her bank statement. I will go to get her for her doctor's appointment at 11:00 on Friday but I will go at 9:00 so I can balance her bank statement first before we go to see Dr. Holland. She is to have a squamous cell carcinoma taken off her neck. She is pretty nervous abut it. She is to be 97 this year.

More even later....

I got myself ready for bed at 7:00 and Missy and I watched another of the "Nature" series on Amazon Prime.  At 9:00, we both went to bed.

Sunday and Coffee Cake and the Sermon

I  slept poorly last night. I took my meds about 1:00 and also took my Melatonin tablet but this time it didn't work. Finally an hour a half later , I took a Benadril tablet. Even then, it took awhile to take effect. I finally got up at 5:45.

I have dressed, fed Missy and myself and will start the coffee cake soon. John and Leslie will not be at church and therefore, neither will the two little grands. We may have a very small congregation what with the storm and all. In the middle of the night the storm came back. I haven't even looked outside yet.

I have the coffeecake in the oven now and am ready to read the newspaper. I took Bill and Evelyn's newspaper over to them too.

More later...

O.K. the coffeecake is out  and I need to ice it now.

O.K., it's iced and ready to go. I have also written my check for my offering. And I have called Phyllis and she will be ready at 9:00 to ride with Bob and me to church.

More even later...I'd better look over that sermon.

The sermon was not all that great.

Afterward there were nine of us who went up the the Railroad Inn for lunch but they had a sign on the door that said they had had a lightning strike during the storm yesterday and were closed. Then we went out to Great China and they were closed too. Finally we went to Maria's and they were packed but that's where we ate dinner. I was not all that impressed.

Then I came home and did my Crossroads Congregation newsletters.

Missy had peed on the third mat under her litter box so I did a load of laundry including those mats. Darn cat!

This is my eldest son, just back in the country from Athens, Greece.

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, standing, cloud, sky and outdoor He travels a lot in Europe.

More even later...

I saw Merrill and Wayne out on Wayne's porch so I walked down there to visit. Merrill had  to finish his laundry so he went home to do that and I sat down to visit with Wayne. This is his 98th birthday.

I came home around 6:15 to watch the rest of 60 Minutes. After I finish this, I will take my bath and get ready for bed. Then I will watch "Nature" again.

More later....

And that's exactly what I did. I took my bath at 7:00 and watched "Nature" until 9:00, when Missy and I went on to bed.
