Saturday and a Valentine Party

I slept very well again last night. For most of the night Missy cuddled up against me. Why she has suddenly become so snugly at this age is beyond me. In March she will be 15.

I got up shortly before 6:00.  I fed Missy and myself and dressed for the party. I will have to wait to see just how bad it is out there.  We have reservations at the restaurant. I am to pick up Phyllis at 11:00. I hope she will still go.

We are under a winter weather advisory until 9:00 this morning. But that turned out to be an exaggeration..... again. They have a hard time forecasting our weather.

Bob and I decided not to have breakfast out  this morning. We are saving out appetites for the lunch.  He is taking Joanne, his girlfriend. I am taking Phyllis.

More later....

I bought and downloaded the movie "The Darkest Hour" that Karan and Marilyn and I saw a couple of weeks ago and watched it again before I left for the dinner. It was very good even the second time I saw it. The theater had the volume very loud and sometimes I could not hear the words clearly. But on my TV and with the Bose system Scott gave me a couple of years ago, it was very clear. I enjoyed it just as much the second time....maybe even more.

Speaking of Scott, he called and talked to me this morning.  I have such good attentive children. I am very lucky and blessed.

Phyllis and I and everyone else had a fine dinner at Soho. Sue gave each of us a small Valentine gift. That was so sweet of her. Phyllis and I had a good visit too...although I have to admit  I did most of the talking...as usual.

She insisted on giving me some money for my gas. I did not want to take it but she insisted.

Missy was glad to see me again. Once again, she had peed on the clean bathmat so that made two of them and I washed and am in the process if drying them again too. I gave her her treats and made myself a bowl of ice cream. I finished all that off and will not buy more for awhile.

Friday and Exercises

I slept well last night. Missy cuddled up to me and she was nice and warm.

I got up around 5:30. I stripped my bed and am washing the bedding. It was a week late but I just couldn't work it in.

I have got myself ready for the day. I have fed Missy and myself.. If nothing unforeseen comes up, I will go to exercise class today. Wednesday I didn't go. I was wiped out after all the problems in the night. I had missed Monday too since Leslie and I went to Kansas City.

We are supposed to get some bad weather tomorrow and we are having our Valentine dinner tomorrow in Bartlesville at noon. I hope the bad weather will miss us again.

My friend Gay is waiting out the passing of her husband. He had been on dialysis for a couple of years and just got worn out with it and was ready to just die. So she brought him home to have hospice help her care for him. Last I heard he was breathing unevenly and was within 48 hours of the end. His daughter is also there with them. I feel so sorry for Gay. I went through that with my Bob and I know how hard it is. When he is gone, I will go up there for the services.

More later....

I did go to exercise class. Then I went to Walmart and spent quite a bit of money without getting too many actual groceries.

Also, abut 3:00 my desktop computer arrived from Keith. It looks fine...not broken .Now when Leslie can come help me put it together, I will have to spend some time getting my mail set up (it may be correct but Cox recently changed the settings.) and my home page set up again and all my shortcuts on the browser. I will also have to put all my addresses in the address book. I have a bunch...all my online classmates and all the online congregation are both in folders so I can just send one e-mail and it goes to all of them. Then I have a bunch that are not in a folder. It will take some time. I will probably skip exercise class on Monday.

More later......

We have a Valentine dinner planned for Bartlesville tomorrow at noon. We have been forecast ice and snow until 9:00 in the morning.

Missy and I watched episode 2 of the American Experience story on women's suffrage. We went to bed at 9:00.

Thursday and Home Inspection

I awoke at 2:00 with a bad stomach ache. I got up and spent the next two hours in and out of bed. I am exhausted today. Bob will be on his own for lunch. I am just going to make some potato soup for myself.

I need to do my regular cleaning today. Betty will be doing her semi annual inspection. My apartment should be no problem. However, the maintenance man never came to work on my front door. I called her about it yesterday morning. Every once in awhile it comes open by itself. Evidently the tremors we get from oil field fracking had shifted it just enough to get the door to miss the latch.

I will do the bathroom and kitchen first. Those are the easiest .

More later...

I got the apartment cleaned except for my bedroom and Missy is sleeping in there on my bed. I will vacuum it later.

Missy just walked in. I asked Alexa to "cancel" the music I was playing so I could talk to her.. She is drinking a lot of water. This morning when I gave her her treats and filled her food dish, I noticed her water dish was completely empty.

Betty came before lunch with her maintenance man. They seemed happy with the condition of my apartment.

I fixed my potato soup and had the rest of the cheese with it  and some good crackers.  Then after that, I backed a dozen cookies and fixed myself some hot chocolate.

Now I have cleaned up that mess and am just relaxing. It is 2:35 now.  Missy is back on my bed.

More even later....

Bob came over and returned some stuff I had loaned him.  He went over to Joanne's for the evening.

I got my paper and read it. I will watch the news and then take my bath and lay down with Missy.  I will see what kind of movie to watch tonight if there is nothing on TV.

Missy and I ended up going to bed at 8:30...I had lost so much sleep last night.

Wednesday and Bunco Day

I slept well last night but because I had gone to bed so early, I ended up getting up at 4:45. I made the bed, got myself dressed and fed myself and Missy and checked my e-mail. I have the TV on for the Tulsa news and the CBS news.

About 7:30, I will go out to church to let John from Derailed Commodity in to measure for our new carpet. I will probably get back in time to pick up Bob and go to exercise class. I missed on Monday when Leslie and I went to Kansas City for my doctor's appointment. Then this afternoon at 1:00, we will have bunco games. It's only 6:05 now so I have plenty of time.

I will fix hamburgers and shoestring potatoes for our lunch. Bob will bring Cokes to go with that.  I set the hamburger patties in the frig last night to thaw and got the buns out of the freezer this morning.

At 1:00 I will go to Bunco back at the senior center.

So, more later...

I went out to let John from Derailed Commodities into the church and stayed and watched him measure everything.

He did a very thorough job. When I left it was too late to go to exercise class.  I took all my used ink cartridges up to donate to the library. They get $4. each for them.

Then I came home and started lunch. Bob came over and we had our hamburgers and shoestrings.  I sent one home with him.

Then I went to Bunco. I won the most wins. That was $5.00. I can use the money. :)

The papers came and I read them. I have given Missy her treats but she thinks she needs another few. Poor old thing. I will give her a few more.

Bob is coming by here before he goes to Joanne. I have some decorated cupcakes for them for Valentine's Day. I took some to Bunco and had some left over.

More later...

I downloaded Yentl  last night and watched it to the end. Missy and I went to bed at 9:00.

Tuesday and Hair Day

I slept well and woke up only  one time...about 2:00. I went to the bathroom and also took my thyroid med. then went back to bed.

I soon fell asleep again and woke up at 5:13. I got up then. I dressed and got myself ready for the day.  Then I came in to check my e-mail, feed Missy and myself . The first thing I noticed was that I had e-mail. I had received an e-mail from the First Christian Church on the way home last evening and had tried to forward it on to Bob A.  He said he didn't get it. I tried to send it again this morning but although I could receive mail, I couldn't send any. So I contacted my Cox Service Plan. He looked the situation over and told me I would have to contact tier 2 service since it was a server problem.

I gave him my phone number and he called me and then transferred me to tier 2. I spent an hour on the phone with tier 2 and  ended up having to change my password. to get back to where I could send out mail. Then I had to go into the den and do the same thing with my little XP Dell computer. He said I would have to do the same thing in my phone.

I thanked him and tried sending a test e-mail. Hooray! It worked again.

I loaded up the three cakes in the trunk and went to pick up Bob. He brought his cake out too so now we had four to put in the freezer at church. Luckily we go right by there to go to Independence.

I got my hair done and we went to their US Cellular to get my e-mail fixed on their site. While I was waiting to see a representative, I figured it out myself, Then we went on out to their larger Walmart and bought a few groceries. After that, we browsed around Goodys until time to go to Great China. We had orange chicken for lunch. Then I took Bob home and came home myself.

I had received my coffee, tea and hot chocolate that I had ordered from Keurig last week.

I put that stuff away and checked my mail.

I had several pieces and also need to call my landlady so I will get back to this later....

I called Betty and she will send her maintenance man to fix my living room door. It has popped open twice this month...letting cold air in . My electric bill (I am all electric) is almost $300 for January.

Later Leslie called and wants me to go out to church at 8:00 in the morning to let the man from Derailed Economy in to measure for our carpet there.

She has ordered the new chairs. We will also buy extra fabric to cover the deacon benches. Four of our men prefer a pew. So we are going to re-cover our two deacon benches and the two pews at the back with the same fabric as the chairs and put one deacon bench where Mike sits, and one on the other side at the same place where John sits. We will put two chairs along side of the small deacon benches on each side. We will also have the two regular pews at the very back where Rick sits on the south end and Bill sits on the north end.  That will allow for one more row of chairs on each side at the front.

Having 50 chairs instead of all pews will allow flexibility for those who prefer to sometimes set the chairs in a circle for special services.  Some of our pews are really showing wear. They were bought in 1969 and re-covered when we moved into our new building in 1999.

We are putting down commercial grade carpet this time instead of plush.  The plush has a "beat down" look and is wearing down the center aisle.

I took my bath early and lay with Missy on the sofa and watched TV until almost 9:00. Then Missy and I went to bed.

Monday and Snow

I did not sleep all that well last night. I awoke at 2:30 and went to the bathroom. When I was about to get back into the bed, Missy had moved onto my spot and was angry that I had woke her up. She hissed at me and tried to bite me. I went over to the other side of the bed and got in there. But then, I began to think about my doctor's appointment and wondered what I would do about it. Finally at 3:45, I just got up.

I made the bed and dressed for the day and fed myself and Missy. She has gone back to bed now...lucky cat!

I doubt I will try to go to exercise class.  It looks too messy out there.

It's only 5:30 now and there's nothing on TV I am interested in. I asked Alexa to play some Barbara Streisand music. That is relaxing. I can use anything to relax me. I wonder if the snow will still be on the ground when I take the cakes to Independence tomorrow.

More later...

Leslie just texted me that she texted Sheri who lives in Kansas City and the roads are clear there. The snow must be just in southeast Kansas. So we are leaving as soon as Leslie can get ready and get over here. I am ready.

More much later...

We left shortly after 7:00 since we weren't sure what exactly to expect. Of course we got there very early so we stopped by Outdoor World and did some shopping. Leslie bought me a new navy colored sweater. and I bought Cheyenne a birthday gift. Her birthday is next week, She will be 6 years old. After we finished there, we went to lunch. Leslie had not had breakfast and was very hungry. We ate at Perkins and had soup and half a sandwich. We got free pie which we brought home to eat later. Leslie also bought three of their muffins and they gave us three free ones...a great deal.

Then we went on to the Doctor's office at KU Med Center. On the way up we discussed my options and I decided to try to do the pessary. ...the conservative treatment.  That didn't work at all so then I elected to have the surgery. I will have a spinal block. It will be done on March 27th. I don't know the time yet. Hopefully, this will fix the problem.

We stopped by their lab and I had the blood work done.

Then we started home. It began snowing lightly on the way home but we soon drove out of it. We got back to Coffeyville shortly after 6:30 and Leslie went on home.  I am sure she was exhausted and I sure was. She had done all the driving.

I took care of putting everything away and saw to Missy and tried to watch a movie but instead, I took my bath and put my PJs on and Missy and I went to bed at 8:00.

It was a huge day!

Sunday and Church

I had quite a night! I woke up at 11:30 and went to the bathroom and then Missy woke me up again at 3:30.  I heard her throwing up. So I got up, cleaned the litter box after she had used it and cleaned up her vomit on the carpet. Then I sprayed Resolve on the carpet and used a clean wet white cloth to clean it. Then I simply gave up and got up.

I have a doctor's appointment in Kansas City tomorrow so I baked my cake this morning. After it cools, I will ice it.  Bob will come over after Phyllis calls him tomorrow to tell him when she has her cake finished. Karan will bake hers today too since she is taking Wendy to the doctor tomorrow.

I dressed and got myself ready for church and then made my little dab of oatmeal  and drank my juice and coffee. I took the trash over to the trash container and noticed the newspapers were here so I took Russell's over and put it on their mailbox and swept the leaves off my carport.......again. Then I came in and read the paper and did the crossword puzzle.

I am probably going to need some rest this afternoon after I do the newsletters. I don't get ESPN so I won't be able to watch the Superbowl this evening. Maybe Alexa can keep me advised of the scores.

More later...

We went to church and had a good crowd there. The service was nice. Sue seemed a little uncertain this time. She had not been scheduled for a long time. She has not been well.

We went over to "Just Us" for lunch and Rick and Carmen showed up there too. We all sat together and had a nice visit.

About the time we got there, it began snowing. It continued all through dinner and when we got out of there , it was coming down briskly.  I texted Leslie about what we were going to do about our trip tomorrow to Kansas City for my doctor's appointment. The roads are bad and slick. She suggested a telephone call for the consultation.  When I got home, I telephoned the hospital and told them about the weather. (if I miss my appointment there is a $300 charge.) They suggested I call again to talk to Dr. P about it at 8:00 in the morning. So I hunkered down for the evening. It was still snowing hard.

Karan did bring her cake over.  I reminded her of it again.

60 Minutes was a rerun so I rented a movie off Amazon for $3,99 and watched that all evening.  It was one of my all time favorites, "Fiddler on the Roof".  I did make a quick run over to Brahms to get some ice cream. They had it on sale for two for $6.00 and they had black walnut and also butter brickle. I got the butter brickle for Bob and Joanne. We can seldom find it since it appears to be everyone's favorite. I will send it home with him if he manages to get over here tomorrow.

I too my bath and got ready for bed before starting the movie. At 9:00, it was over so Missy and I went to bed. I was very tired.
