Saturday and Breakfast at Sirloin Stockade

I slept until after 5:00 this morning and had a good night's sleep. I got myself ready for the day and picked up Bob for breakfast out at 7:20.

We had a good breakfast and I then took Bob home. I am full enough that I can't even think about lunch/dinner right now.

Super Tuesday down south is this next Tuesday. It will be interesting to see the outcome. Trump will probably win for the Republicans.  That's astounding! Anyone who votes for him is obviously  not well informed. People really need to do their homework and vote with their brains and not their emotions. The man is an obvious nutcase. Lord only knows what kind of trouble he would get the country into. He listens to no one so wouldn't pay any attention to any advisers.  He knows next to nothing about the way government runs. He will run into the same brick wall the president has...not because of skin color but because of his ignorance.  We will see. Maybe Hillary or Sanders can beat him....whichever one gets the Democrat nomination.

I am also concerned about Sanders because if elected, he would be the oldest elected president ever. He also would want to try to change us from a Democracy to a Socialist country. I don’t think he could ever get that change by Congress. …not this Congress.

What a lineup of losers we have this year. The Republicans have spent most of their time dissing one another instead of discussing policy.

I hope voters will study the issues and the stands of these candidates on them before they cast their vote. And I hope they check all the “facts” they share on politifact.com. This site is run by a Pulitzer Prize winning group. They’ve earned it by checking the statements of the candidates for truth.

More false statements by Trump:

More later...

Bob came over this afternoon and  did some laundry. Then we went over to Braums and had a hamburger and small milkshake.

He stayed for the news and then left  to go home. Now I will take my bath and do the rest of the regular routine.

Friday and Exercises Again

I didn't sleep well last night. But after I got up, I still felt pretty good. Maybe I will be able to shake it off.

Scott called me this morning and we talked for nearly an hour. I really enjoyed it.  He and I can talk about politics and enjoy it.  We discussed an article I saw in my newspaper yesterday evening. The author is Connie Schultz, a Pulitzer Prize winning columnist. Here it is:

We Journalists Helped To Build Monster Trump:

Let us review.

Donald Trump on former prisoner of war John McCain:
“He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

Donald Trump on Mexican immigrants:
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. … They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”

Donald Trump, after learning that two of his supporters beat up a Latino man in his name:
“I will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate.”

Donald Trump on Muslims, reading his own press release to a cheering crowd of supporters:
“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”

Donald Trump on Rosie O’Donnell:
“If I were running ‘The View,’ I’d fire Rosie O’Donnell. I mean, I’d look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers, I’d say, ‘Rosie, you’re fired.'”

Donald Trump on Arianna Huffington, via Twitter:
“(Arianna Huffington) is unattractive both inside and out
fully understand why her former husband left her for a man- he made a good decision.”

Donald Trump on Megyn Kelly (after she reminded him during the first Republican debate that he has called women he doesn’t like “fat pigs,” “dogs,” “slobs” and “disgusting animals”): Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever.” Later, via Twitter, he called Kelly a “bimbo.”

Donald Trump on President Obama, via Twitter: “Our great African American President hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore!”

And this, from Trump’s victory speech this week in Nevada, where he won 45.9 percent of the votes:
“We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated.”

This man, who wants to be our president, celebrating one of the causes of poverty in America.
We in the media helped to create this monster.

Sure, Donald Trump is the inevitable outcome of years of Republican pandering to the far right, but we gave him wings.

Not all of us, but too many of us, cast his hateful rhetoric as entertaining. It was “wacky.”

“Outrageous.” “Crazy.” I found all of these descriptions with a quick Google search. They sound like reviews of a skit from “Saturday Night Live” — which Trump has hosted, of course, because he’s just so entertaining.

The day after Trump won Nevada, the latest Quinnipiac poll showed him beating Ohio’s Gov. John Kasich by five points — in Ohio.

This poll came out the day after Kasich, the GOP candidate the media has painted as a moderate, told a crowd in Virginia that he owed his victory in 1978 to “women, who left their kitchens” to go knock on doors for him. Unbeknownst to Kasich, apparently, many women were pursuing careers by ’78, and those still at home were doing plenty of work that had nothing to do with food preparation.

Kasich’s depiction of women came as no surprise to those of us here in Ohio who remember his public claim that political wives are “doing the laundry” while guys like him chase their dreams. John Kasich sees women as enablers of male ambition, and his political pawns. And so last weekend he signed a bill to defund Planned Parenthood, which means a loss of state money for breast-cancer screenings, STD testing and other health care that has nothing to do with abortion.

What a moderate, that guy Kasich.

And now he’s losing to Trump, in his own state.  Donald Trump on his popularity:

“I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose voters.”
Pundits, one after another, complain, “He’s not funny anymore.”

With a straight face, they say this.

Connie Schultz

Now does this sound like a man we would want to be our president? Does he sound rational and logical?  Does he sound like someone who could deal with our allies? Does he sound presidential? He sounds like a realty show host...that's all. I've been a registered Republican for all my voting life but there's no way I would ever vote for that clown. I vote for whomever I think would do the best job. ..whichever party.

I don't think so!

Now I need to go pick up Bob for our exercise class and will get back to this later.....

I finished exercise class and  got lunch finished.

I wasn't too happy with my new chicken recipe. I will not try it again. You rolled it in flour and then a mixture of two egg whites,  two tablespoons of water,  a tablespoon of dijon mustard,  and a half teaspoon of garlic salt and a tablespoon of Italian spices. Then you rolled it in crushed bran flakes. I didn't like it at all. I scraped the bran off mine and ate it. Bob said the bran made it sweet and he didn't like it much either.  We had boiled potatoes and green beans and his salad with it. We had a cup cake for dessert.

It was a disappointment. I will eliminate the recipe from my collection.

He has gone home now and I am trying to reach a woman by telephone. She has been on the phone for thirty minutes.

More later...

I finally reached the woman I was trying to call. She sent me a photo I needed to make up the brochure I needed. I got it finished and took a copy of it to meet with the police chief about a PINCH concern. He was very nice and was able to shed light on the situation I was investigating.

More later...

When I got home, Bob came over to watch Brooks and Shields on PBS and when he went home I took my bath and Missy and I watched TV until 8:45. Then we went to bed.

Thursday and Another Trip to Bartlesville

I slept really well last night. I have been using the nasal spray to hydrate my nostrils.  That seems to help..plus my left nostril has stopped bleeding. It's been awhile since it has been healed up.  I stayed up only until 9:00. I tried to watch Nova on PBS but just couldn't stay with it. It was about robots. Just about the most boring subject I can think about. And I got up very early yesterday morning. So Missy and I went to bed at 9:00. She slept well too.

Yesterday when Bob was over he showed me a place about the size of a half dollar on his left leg just above the ankle that has not healed and it seeps blood. I suggested he should call Dr. Eslicker's office  for an appointment. He did that and he will go to Bartlesville this afternoon to see the doctor about this raw wound.  He has been using antibiotic ointment on it and keeping a bandage over it but it's been there well over a week and shows no sign of healing. I have nothing going this afternoon so I offered to go with him.  His appointment is at 3:30.  We will leave about 2:30.

I need to go to the market this morning. I have quite a list. I am thawing chicken breasts for lunch. We will have boiled potatoes with them and a veggie. Bob will bring a salad. I have cupcakes for dessert.

More later....

We will have the chicken tomorrow. We will go to Bartlesville early and eat at Pies and Such, a neat restaurant there. It's been awhile since we've been there.  Then we'll kill some time...probably in the mall where it will be warm. It's very cold today with the north wind.

I did get to the market today. I bought over $40. worth of groceries. I just got them unloaded and put away.

We left and ate at Pies and Such and had a good lunch! I had half sandwich made with homemade bread and a cup of homemade veggie soup. Then we had a piece of wonderful pie.

Then we went to Walmart where he returned a shower curtain that was too short for his shower.  We also went out to Lowe's. We had not been to Lowe's for awhile. Then we went to the mall and walked around until time for Bob's appointment.

We got to his doctor's appointment just fine and it was not cancer, which is what he was afraid it was. It was contact dermatitis. Dr. Eslicker gave him some good antibiotics to cure it.

When we got back, he had a meeting to attend with his landlord.

We got back to Coffeyville around 4:00.  Then I got the paper and read it.

More later....

I went to bed at 9:00.

Wednesday and Game Day

This morning I will make my lemon bars and then go to exercise class. Bob and I will attend the Lenten Luncheon at the First Baptist Church here at noon. The speakers will be members of various churches instead of pastors. That's the way it all began years ago. Then I will go to the senior center for game day. It will be a busy day.

I like to be busy though.

I slept fairly well last night. I did get up at 4:00 AM though. I must have got my sleep out.

I have been reading my facebook page and am astounded by the comments of Trump for president backers.  There is a lot of animosity out there and a lot of lies circulating.  This is one of the worst political seasons in my memory.  The Democrats seem to be more civil toward one another. I say that as a registered Republican.  Of course, I always vote for the person...not the party. The roster of Republican candidates is really bad. Trump is the worst. I can't imagine a Trump president. He is so hostile and makes very controversial statements.  He would alienate the Hispanics and the blacks as well as the gays and women. And he could never work with our allies. The others are just about as bad.

I intend to vote for Hillary. She has the experience and is very intelligent. There are lots and lots of lies circulating about her. If folks would consult the politifact.com site they could check out everyone's statements. For instance, Trump said this:

More later....I'd better get those lemon bars baked.

O.k., the bars are out of the oven and now I need to get my sweater and get to exercises.

More later....

Another idea for my son and  daughter-in-laws new home:

I will get back to this later. It's nearly time for the Lenten Luncheon.

Another of their ideas!

A Busy Tuesday

I slept well last night. I sprayed my nose with the salt spray that is supposed to hydrate the nostrils and it worked! I got up about 5:00 and did my usual routine.....made bed, dressed, did my make-up,  got Missy's treats and filled her dish with cat food, my own breakfast and made my coffee and loaded four cakes into my car's trunk. Bob will add his when I pick him up at 8:20. Then we need to stop at church this morning and pick up two more cakes.

We will deliver all the cakes first and then I'll stop at the beauty shop and get my hair done. After that, I will go out to Juanita's and balance her checkbook. Then Bob and I will go to Great China for lunch.

I'll go to the market some time today and then later at 6:30, I will attend the City Commission meeting to give the invocation. I will stay for the meeting.

More later...

This is the flooring that will be used on my son's back porch and laundry room. It's tile but it looks like wood even to the nails.

Interesting, isn't it?

Another idea:

HESCO Wire, fill with pretty rock, backfill with dirt, lay grass and shrubs..
Cheaper way of doing a bulkhead.

More later...

We got all our business done in Independence...took six cakes and a couple dozen cookies for the dinner, got my hair done, got Juanita's checkbook and bank statement reconciled, and had lunch at great China.  Then I brought Bob back home and dropped him off and came back home to find Missy on Bob's chair. As soon as I walked in, she jumped down. She knows better but that's a cat for you!

Later I will change my clothes and go to the meeting.  Right now I am catching up the blog.

More later...

I attended the City Commission meeting and intended to stay until the last but 30 minutes into the meeting, they went into executive session so I left and came home to watch the rest of the meeting on TV.  Don't they realize people do not want to stay while they have their private meeting?

I took my bath and stayed up and watched PBS until 9:00. I was very tired and Missy and I went on to bed.

Monday and Exercise Class

I slept really well last night. Of course, in the middle of the night I took a Benedril tablet. I woke up at 5:15 and stripped the bed. I will wash the sheets later this morning after Jeannie has a chance to wake up in the next apartment.

Today I will go to exercise class and afterward go pick up the cake mixes and pans Karan wants to send to Marilyn R, my neighbor. Marilyn will be baking Karan's cakes until Bobby is gone. No one knows how long that will be. He is worse but still is getting around.  He seldom speaks and does repetitive things constantly. Pat, their neighbor, brought him a Slinky and a Rubick's cube. He messes with them constantly.  He is incontinent now and wears Depends. She washes the sheets on their bed several times a week. It's a stressful time for her. She seems to be holding up though. I am to go over to stay with Bobby while she attends her Spirit Sisters meeting this month. His brother from South Coffeyville also comes once a week to stay with him so Karan can go to the market.

We had ten at the Living the Question group meeting last night. Everyone seemed to have a good visit after we watched the video.

I came home after taking Gary and Bob home and took my bath and sat with Missy in the recliner and watched TV until 10:30. Then we went to bed.

I will make up my meatloaf and set it in the frig this morning before exercise class. We will have potatoes and veggies with Bob's salad today. I have some apple brown betty for dessert.  This afternoon I will bake my cake for the Christian Church in Independence tomorrow and later I will ice it.

Betty's nephew never came to clean up the leaves mess yesterday. I texted her to tell her and she said a couple of people would be here today to do it. We will see.

More later....

Lunch was good today and I took half the meatloaf to Karan and Bobby for their lunch.  I worked all afternoon on the house and also got the bulletin ready for Sunday. Then I went to get some money from the bank for tomorrow. I will take the cakes up to Independence in the morning and the get my hair done. Bob will take my car and take me to Juanita's to balance her checkbook for her. He will go visit Betty while I'm doing that and when we are both finished, we will  go out to Great China for lunch.

After lunch Betty's niece and her husband came and bagged up all the leaves. I am so delighted!  I called the trash people and they will be by on Friday to gather up those 20 bags of leaves.

I will stay home tonight with poor Missy. Tomorrow I will also do the invocation for the City Commission meeting at 6:30 and stay for the meeting too so she will be alone all evening as well as all morning. I will stay home with her in the afternoon. Tomorrow she will not be a happy kitty!

More later....

After Bob left, I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner until 9:00.  Then we went to bed.

A Very Busy Sunday

Today will be very busy. I am in the process right now of baking my coffeecake. I take that to church for the church school class every other week. Bob makes his banana nut bread on the alternate week. The group at church really seem to enjoy it.

After church some of us will eat out somewhere.

This afternoon I will do my congregation newsletters and then  bake my apple brown betty for tonight's Living the Questions group meeting. We have moved the meeting to Karan and Bobby's since it has become very hard for Karan to get Bobby ready to go anywhere. He is slowly getting more and more confused and harder to manage. Tragedy!

Then at 6:35, I will pick Bob up and then we will go get Gary. Gary doesn't have a car and is very isolated.  He likes our group though. I will take the apple brown betty and Joyce will bring ice cream and a drink.

More later....time to check the coffeecake.

The coffeecake was finished and it was good. There were 15 at church today and some were gone with good reason. One of our pastors was sleeping after being up all night manning the emergency room here at CRMC. My daughter was on call and had been out late last night and also out during all morning at church.  Karan called during church school and said she and Bobby would not be able to be there today. They had been up off and on all night and she had the bedding in the laundry. What a mess!

Bob and I and my son-in-law, John, ate at El Publieto. When I got home I got my newsletters finished and then started my apple brown betty. It was in the oven and I decided to take some coffeecake over to Marilyn, my neighbor.  She sent me home with some cookies.

I have taken Karan's presiding responsibilities for next Sunday and the time she is supposed to preach in March.  She doesn't need any more responsibilities then she already has with taking care of Bobby.

More later...

Bob came over to read the Sunday paper and watch the news with me and later at 6:40, we went to get Gary for the Living the Questions group meeting.  We had a good meeting and everyone seems to enjoy the evening.

When I got home I took my bath and then sat with Missy in the recliner and watched TV until 10:30 and then went on to bed.
