It evidently rained last night. It's too dark out for me to see if it's still raining but the sidewalk is wet and when it gets light I will check to see if it's still raining. I got up shortly before 4:00AM. I seemed to have got my sleep out by then. That's seven hours sleep.
I have dressed and had my oatmeal and coffee and Chai. I am having trouble with this desktop computer again. I keep trying to nurse it along because it's the only computer that I can get the printer to work on and every once in awhile I need to print something off. This morning I coldn't even get it to reboot so I gave it a cold boot. When it came back up so far it seems to be working. It's off and on every day. I was watching Shields and Brooks on U Tube from PBS this morning and it froze again.
I will stay home and in if it's raining today. I have plenty to read. I am just sorry I didn't get the side yard mowed before it rained. Luckily it's not too bad yet. I won't be able to mow it until John and Leslie get home from Roaring River. I can't figure out how to empty the bag and the bag is full. I tried to empty it in the most obvious way yesterday but all it did was empty a small pile of grass and leaves on my drive and I had to sweep that up and put it in my trash. It's still full.
More later...
I went out to Dollar General a little bit ago and bought a small cat dish. A kitten has been coming around here and I hope to be able to feed it. It looks like a stray.
And it appears I will have to blog with the laptop computer. The desktop computer is freezing up. I have rebooted it twice but it doesn't seem to want to work. I don't know what I will do if I want to print something off. It is the only computer attached to the printer. I may have to figure out how to attach the laptop to it.
It is misting now. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow when we have church.
Well, more later...I guess I will read.
I have read until my eyes are tired. I called Suzanne to see if it was alright for me to trim the tree with the hanging down branches. She said that would be fine. She also suggested that we meet for coffee Monday afternoon at 1:00PM and she will ask Alice to go with us.
I took my bath at 7:00PM and watched TV and read until John texted me to watch a video om u-tube of how to get that bag off the lawn mower to empty it. I watched the video and now I think I can do it. If it doesn't rain Sunday afternoon, I will try to empty it again. I am tired now and I think I will go on to bed.

Friday and Mowing
I slept very well last night although when I woke up at 4:15, I had had my sleep out. I dressed and had my oatmeal and am watching the early news. I understand Ohio State is playing in tonight's play offs and I should be able to follow it on channel 6. I intend to watch the game. I am sure Scott and Ginger will too.
Sometime after it warms up today, I want to mow my back yard. There are a lot of weeds growing along the back side of the apartment on the north in the fenced in area. I want to mow them down. I should get out some weed killer and spray them too. John will be bringing me some pasture dirt soon and I will need to get some weed barrier first and then add some Miracle Grow to that after he brings the pasture dirt and before I plant flowers. I never plant before the last part of April. I am anxious to have flowers again. I gave Betty my wrought iron flower pot holders. I would have nowhere to put them here anyhow. The above ground flowerbed John made for me will be enough.
I have no plan for today. I don't need to do laundry yet. The apartment is clean. So I will read again. After I finish reading this second book, I will take these two back to the library. By then, it should be time to mow that back yard.
More later....
I mowed the back and front yards and if it doesn't rain, I will mow the side tomorrow. This is the back yard.
I will mow the side yard after that. I won't try to do the entire yard in one day.
I went ahead and mowed the front too. Rain is in the forecast. I can't figure out how to empty the bag though. I tried the obvious way and it spilled some leaves and grass on the drive and I had to sweep that up. But the front and back look nice. I really need to trim those two trees though.
I went to the library and took back the two books I read this week. I got two more from this author. She writes a very interesting book. Maybe I will slowly get through all they have at the library.
It's 5:40PM now. I will watch the news before I take my bath. So more even later...
More even later...
I took my bath at 7:00PM and went on to bed at 9:00PM. I was very tired.

Thursday and a Quiet Day
I slept very well last night. I went to bed so early I thought that might ruin my sleep but that didn't happen. I got up at around 6:00AM, which is later then usual. I had my breakfast and even ate my last banana. I don't have a plan for today. Maybe I will just read. I could finish my last book . I wonder how Nancy made out yesterday. I didn't hear from her and she never knows if she is going to be sick or not.
The apartment is clean and the laundry is done so I have nothing to really do. The salad luncheon yesterday was good and I have plenty of frozen dinners in the freezer for lunch. I ate too much yesterday. I sat and read and ate trail mix last evening. I finished the entire small bag. Then I had to take a Tums before bed.
I wish I had the mower that John and Leslie are giving me. I would mow the weeds in my yard. But it may be awhile until they can get it to me.
Nothing to add at this time so more later....
I have read all day. I haven't been out of the apartment. I called Nancy about noon but she had company and was to have called me back. She never did. I finally called her back. Sandy had been there and they got an appointment with Melissa for the first week in April. I reminded her that she had talked to Dr. Christiansen's office the day before yesterday and made an appointment for next Wednesday morning at 10:00AM with him. I was to take her. She had forgotten. I reminded her. She is very concerned about her memory. I will have to make sure she is ready to go to Coffeyville next Wednesday at 9:30AM because her appointment there is at 10:00AM. She does not want her hospital (in the event she would need one) to be 57 miles away so she wants to keep her appointment on next Wednesday because Coffeyville is only 17 miles away.
Her memory is worse then mine and Karan's.
It's after 4:00PM now. I waited until after 1:00PM to eat my lunch. So I am not hungry now. I will eat my yogurt later this evening. I have finished the crossword puzzle now so I will take the paper over to Alice.
More later...
I ate my yogurt and soon after, about 6:30PM, John, my son in law, brought the mower, a gas can and oil that the kids donated to me so I could mow my own yard. He said I had to pass a test. The test was if I could pull start the mower. I pulled just once and it started just fine. He suggested I not try to mow everything at once. I told him I was going to mow the front and the back the first day...the smallest area, and then the next day, do the side yard, which is a little larger. He suggested I mow in the evenings because the morning grass would be wet. That's a good idea. I need to borrow Bob Avery's pruning shears. He has my hedge trimmer so when I need to do that, I will need to borrow that too. I do have a small hedge. I may have a saw to help. The two little flowering trees badly need trimming. He put the mower in the garage for me. I need to pull in a little nearer the east to make more room for it on the west side of the garage.
If it's nice tomorrow, I may mow the back. There's a lot of big weeds back there next to the apartment. I am so pleased with everything.
It's about time for my bath. It's almost 7:00PM and I will get ready for bed. Then I will watch TV for awhile or read before I go to bed at 9:00PM.

Wednesday and Another Trip to Coffeyville
This is the next to the last time I will have to make two trips to Coffeyville for my hair and games. I have changed my hair appointment to Wednesdays after April 1st.
Today I will try to return the ice chest at Walmart and also stop at the health food store and buy pecans. Then I will go to the Lenten luncheon and after that to Asbury Village for bunco.
Nancy came over yesterday afternoon and talked to me about their church. They are planning to shut it down if she can't get well enough to be the president of the congregation. Jeannie has resigned that job. I told her she wouldn't be able to handle it as long as she could not be sure she could wake up and not be sick. She asked me who I was going to and I told her it was Dr. Christiansen over at Coffeyville because I did not want to have to go to Parsons if I even had to go to a hospital. Melissa is an employee of Labette County Hospital and that is 60 miles away. Coffeyville's hospital is only 17 miles away. So she called his office and made an appointment for next Wednesday at 10:00. Then she asked me if I would take her. I told her I would. Unfortunately I will be at World Conference in Independence, Missouri for over a week after April 4th. If she can't get Jess to take her back to get the results of her tests, she will have to wait until I get home from World Conference.
I have been having problems with this desktop computer. It shuts itself down when I am off it for awhile. I contacted Cox but the tech seemed to think it was a hardware problem and I would have to take it to a tech to get to the bottom of the problem. There is no tech around here and even if there were, it would be too expensive for me to hire one. I dread sending it to Keith again after the last experience with the US mail. This is the only computer I have that can print. The laptop does not use the printer. Neither does the notebook. I couldn't get the little XP computer to recognize the router in the living room so it is no longer online. I will just have to deal with it.
I will leave in awhile....probably about 10:00AM. I want to return the ice chest and stop at the health food store for my pecans before the Lenten luncheon.
So, more later...
I left a little earlier then I thought. I took the ice chest back to Walmart and stopped by the health food store and bought my pecans. They have gone up again. Instead of the old $10.00 per bag or even the latest $11.00 per bag, they are now $12.00 per bag. They are going to price themselves right out of the market if they are not careful. I can get them at Walmart for $10.00. I went to the Lenten Luncheon and then over to Karan's to wait for time to go our to Bunco at Asbury Village. I had a good time there.
I got home in the late afternoon and watched the Dateline show I had recorded. Then I turned off the TV and started reading one of my new books. About 8:00PM or so I took my bath and went on to bed. It had been a big day.

Tuesday and A Trip to Coffeyville
I slept well last night until about 3:15, then I woke up, went to the bathroom and when I got back to bed, I simply could not get back to sleep. I stayed in bed and tried to relax until about 4:00AM but that was the last of my good sleep. I just got up and dressed then and had my oatmeal and juice and started on my coffee.
I will go to Coffeyville today and I believe I will change my regular hair appointment to Wednesdays since I come to Coffeyville on Wednesdays anyhow for games....Bunco and Skip Bo. That would save me an entire trip.
I will get gas today when I go. Leslie gave me a $5.00 gift card and I may use it there at the Phillips station. I can pay the remaining on my debit card.
I will leave a little later this morning so I won't have to drive there in the dark. It amazes me how few people dim their lights for oncoming traffic. Those bright lights do not agree with my contacts. They reflect stars on them. So I will wait until about 7:15 to leave to pick up Bob for breakfast.
I dug out my spring purses this morning and changed out of that winter one. I am tired of it and want something that looks a little more like spring.
More later...
I went out to Woodshed this morning after I got my hair done and filled my tank with gas.
I got everything I planned to get at Walmart except I forgot to stop at the health food store and get pecans. I hope I remember tomorrow when I go back over for the Lenten Luncheon and Bunco at Asbury Village.
Today, I changed my regular hairdo appointment to Wednesdays at 10:00AM. That will keep me from having to make one trip for my hair and the very next day go back for games at the senior center and at Asbury Village the third Wednesday. It will also change my breakfast with Bob to Wednesday mornings instead of Tuesdays. I will bake my cake on Saturdays and take it to church on Sunday and put it in the freezer there. He can stop at the church on his way to Independence and pick it up. We used to do that with Sue's cakes. She would bring them to church on Sunday and put them in the freezer there. Now Sue is gone so I will use the freezer for that.
More later...
I watched Dateline in the afternoon and then turned the TV off and read all evening after my bath. In fact, I read until almost midnight and finished that first book. Then I went to bed.

A Quiet Monday
I slept well last night. I got up at about 5:00AM. I have dressed and had my breakfast. I have been watching the weather channel waiting for the CBS news to come on.
I don't have a plan for today except to go to the library and take back my books and get some more. Tomorrow I will go over to Coffeyville and have breakfast with Bob and get my hair done, get money at the bank and Walmart for my small list of groceries and fill up with gasoline at Woodshed. That's a once a week deal. Then Wednesday I will go back and attend the Lenten luncheon at the First Baptist Church then and go to Bunco at Asbury Village at 2:00PM.
That's all my out of town activities for the week.
So more later....
Leslie texted me this morning and asked me to come up to their house at 11:30AM and we would go into Independence and have pizza at Big Cheese. I will do that. I seldom get invited out there. She is so busy.
I did go up to Dollar General and get some Command hooks to hang a few things in the utility area. I also got some cash. I was just about broke. Dollar General charges $1.00 for the convenience of getting cash. I didn't know that. Walmart doesn't charge anything for that. However, I usually just get my cash at the bank when I go to Coffeyville.
Nancy just called. She is not feeling well again. She thinks she is just upset over her situation with her son, David. He wanted to put her in a nursing home last summer and she refused to go. She wants to stay in her own home until she dies. That made him angry and he just washed his hands of her. He is her only child. I feel so sorry for her. But I cannot convince her to go see the doctor.
More later...
I found this n the site of one of my blogging friends: She said this:
"I think most people believe that our president is racist and that he refuses to denounce White Nationalism or racism because a large part of his base support those beliefs."
"It's frightening to know that many people, even in another country is using him as "a symbol of renewed white identity."
It appears that Donald Trump is giving the impression that he would condone this kind of extreme, violent racism. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Didn't he also tell his supporters to beat up protesters at one of his rallies? Hasn't he also been reticent about criticizing White Nationalists in our country?
Why don't his supporters care?
I think a third of our country supports him. What don't I understand?"
I agree with her. I am mystified too.
I got to Leslie's just about 11:30AM and had a chance to see how Raven was looking. She was attacked by coyotes while the kids were in South Dakota awhile back and they had to take her to the vet and have her treated and get stitches. Now she is looking great but she is not wanting to go outside much. She is afraid. What a tragedy.
John's dog, Octavia, is pregnant and is due at any time. They make cute cowboy Corgies and their male Corgy got to her while they were gone. But that's fine. The pups are in demand.
We went on to Independence and right to the bank and made Leslie's deposit. Then we went to Big Cheese and had a good salad and split a personal pan pizza and had a root beer. Afterward we went back to the bank and picked up her bank bags and then out to the Hardware store for her to get some things she needs. Then I took her home. I left them the rest of the apple brown betty. I figured I may as well share it with them. For one thing, it was too much for me.
I went to the library and returned the books I had read when I got home. I also checked out two more.
When I got home I mixed up my cake for tomorrow. I will need to get some more icing. I don't have enough to ice this cake. But I can get that at the Dollar General store. I will go out there after I get the cake out of the oven and am cooling it. I also installed the new cartridge for my printer.
So, more even later....
I went back to Dollar General and bought icing for the cake and finished icing it. It is ready to go with me in the morning when I go to meet Bob for breakfast.
In about 45 minutes, I will take my bath and put my PJs on. I think I will try to go to bed earlier tonight.

A Busy Sunday
I almost didn't get to sleep last night. I finally got up sometime after 11:00PM and took a benadryl. That finally dried up my sinus' and got me to sleep. I woke up at nearly 5:00AM this morning so I just got up and dressed and had my oatmeal and coffee. Then I mixed up the coffeecake.
The coffeecake is out of the oven and cooling now. When it is cool I will put the icing on it.
It will seem strange not to have Sue at church. She will be sorely missed.
I am now the second oldest person in the congregation. Bob is oldest. Sue was third oldest. Now Gene is the third oldest.
Later this afternoon, around 5:00PM, I will bake my apple brown betty and get some ice cream from the Dollar General to put on it. The Living the Question group is supposed to come at 6:00PM to see my apartment. I am not enthusiastic about it.
It's supposed to be a beautiful day. It's more like spring lately.
I will get back to this later.
Church school and church went well. After church, we all went to eat at Great China and I brought home half my dinner. I will have it tomorrow.
After we got back to the church, I drove on back to Caney. I had some left over coffeecake and I took some to Alice, my neighbor.
Then I did my newsletters. I ran out of ink for my printer and will have to get some when I go to Coffeyville on Tuesday for my hair appointment. I also did a load of laundry.
I also made my apple brown Betty and ran out to the Dollar General store for some ice cream to serve with it. Karan and Judy and Howard came and we watched the video. They were the only ones able to come. Joyce is in Alaska and the Bashams couldn't come because Mona's husband wasn't up to it.
After they left I cleaned up the dishes and put them away. Then I watched 60 Minutes, which I had recorded and after my bath I watched Dateline. Then I got ready to go to bed at 10:05. Once again it had been a big day.
The coffeecake is out of the oven and cooling now. When it is cool I will put the icing on it.
