Friday at Last

Today is Friday and I work my three hours this morning and then drive to Independence to meet Leslie for our trip to Independence, Missouri. We will take her vehicle because she wants to drive and she wants to take her new SUV. So I will either leave mine in the parking lot at Four County or drive out to her house and park it in the garage.

I think the weather will be alright tonight. It may rain all the way but the terrible storms passed us by last night. I did bring Slinky in for a couple of hours because of the rain and wind but he is out there now and it is 40 something. He may get cold tonight because it's supposed to be in the upper 30's but I will be gone so he will just have to tough it out.

So, as you might have guessed it will be sometime Sunday before you hear from me. I won't take my laptop because the block's routers at Stoner's are all protected.

I hope to enjoy the weekend with my daughter and at the symposium.

Another Thursday.

Today should go pretty well at work. My supervisor has laid out some more work for me to start on today. I stayed an extra twenty minutes yesterday to finish the job she gave me for yesterday.

Afterward, I may go out to The King at Dearing with Bob A. I don't believe he went yesterday to the Lenten Luncheon and I couldn't go. I couldn't get my hair appointment any time except yesterday noon so I had to miss the last Lenten Luncheon. I drove by his house on the way home from work at 11:30 and noticed his car was still there in his drive. The doors open at 11:30 so I doubt that he went. He was going to ask a friend and his wife and they may not have wanted to go. Anyhow, we tentatively agreed to go to The King today for lunch. I'll have to wait to see if he's still interested. Since I will leaving for Independence, Missouri, tomorrow at noon, he will be feeding my animals Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning. Slinky woke me up at 5:30AM this morning barking and wanting his breakfast. He may have to wait a little longer for Bob to feed him. I can't see Bob coming over at 5:30 to feed him.

Leslie wants to take her vehicle tomorrow. It will be a lot more expensive because she drives a new Toyota SUV but if she's good enough to go with me, I will not complain. We will stay at Stoner's home while they are gone to Maine to babysit their grandchild. I hope this meeting and the papers presented are as good as they usually are.

I got my hair cut very short yesterday. For spring and summer I usually do because the warmer it gets the more wildly curly my hair gets. My hair is a real pain. I can't do a thing with it myself. I tried to straighten my bangs with my curling iron last week and ended up burning my forehead.

I may go to Bartlesville this afternoon. I haven't been in awhile. While there, I can get gas twenty cents a gallon cheaper then here in Kansas. We'll see. The store where I shop for clothing is having a half price sale. I probably don't need anything but I want to look anyhow.

More later....

Bob A. just called....He still wants to go to The King at 11:30. I told him I was still interested.

Wednesday Hair Day

Today I get my hair cut and done, thank goodness. It's a mess! This humidity just makes it curl up uncontrollably. Especially after I mowed yesterday afternoon. I will pick up Juanita and we will go to lunch afterward.

I asked Bob A. but he didn't want to go when it takes an hour to get my hair done. He will ask some friends to go to the last Lenten Luncheon. I hate missing it but she could only do my hair today at noon. I was hoping to get it done tomorrow afternoon since Leslie and I will be in Independence, Missouri this weekend. Oh well!

I am getting so I dread going to work. They seldom have anything planned for me to do so I do a lot of sitting around twiddling my thumbs. I need the money though so I will continue. This week sometime I need to go look for work again or they will take me out of the training program. After I paid my bills today, I have very little money left to last me until May 11th.

I took Slinky for a walk yesterday afternoon late after I got home from my visit with Phyllis and Gerry. He was delighted! It had been several weeks since he'd had a walk. It's been entirely too windy to get out in it. The wind sets my allergies off. He was like a puppy after he learned he was going to get a walk!

More later...

It was a good day at work. My supervisor had plenty for me to do and the morning flew by...just the way I like it.

I picked up Juanita for lunch after I got my hair done. She's in a mess. Her son, aged 62, has left his wife...her idea. He lost his $250,000 a year job and has had a very stressful first quarter. Now his wife wants a divorce and says there is no chance for a reconciliation. So he has come back to live with his mother...an 89 year old woman who is very frail. What was he thinking!!! She does not need that kind of stress in her life. She needed someone to talk to and we have been friends for 10 years so she talked to me. I took her to the market afterward so she could get some dog food for her dogs. Then I took her home. I told her if it got too much for her to call me and I would come get her.

What a mess!

Tuesday..A New Day

I had an interesting afternoon. I went in to check my e-mail and noticed that Avast! had found a malware on my desktop computer. I ran Avast! and found some of it but then I ran a boot scan and found thousands of infections. It was a malware called HTML script infection. During the boot scan Avast! deleted 15,139 files that were infected. I didn't know if I would have a desktop computer or not but when the program finished, Windows came up again and I tried all my programs and they all worked. Then I ran Avast!again and the computer was clean. I hope I got off scott free because for awhile there I thought I might be down to just my laptop computer. It would have just capped off an already bad day.

Today, I feel much better. I went to bed at 10:00 and slept until 4:30 without waking up. I have fed the animals and had my six bites of oatmeal and two pieces of raisin bread toast. I hope today is a better day. My brother-in-law called last night and I am afraid I used him as a sounding board. I shouldn't have done that. He has his hands full without me adding to his problems with my tale of woe.

I have to make a ministerial alliance bank deposit this morning after work. Then I want to visit Phyllis and also clean my house. Other then getting my hair done this week, I have nothing going until Friday when Leslie and I leave for Independence, Missouri and the Restoration Studies Symposium. We will be gone until Sunday afternoon. I can use a break.

Leslie is on call every other weekend and all weekdays with her new job. She loves it though. She says she feels she is doing something important and useful with her life. She is no longer just a clerk. Now she is a case manager. She actually deals with the sick people and even transports them home after their appointments if they need a ride. She gets called out in the night many times though and gets very little sleep those nights. But if she's happy, that's worth it.

Tired Monday

I had a horrible night last night. I went to bed very tired at 9:00 and awoke at 1:00AM and could not get back to sleep. I finally got up around 3:00AM and took a Benedril for my allergies. I got back to sleep around 3:30 and awoke at 6:00 to the sound of Slinky barking for his breakfast and my oatmeal. I am beat. I hate to even think about going to work. Luckily, it's only three hours.

I watched the live feed of our church president's address last night on my laptop. I wasn't as impressed as I felt I should be. It was all about mission and a plea for money. My budget just doesn't allow for any more offering money. One couple gave $300,000 and then turned around and gave another $500,000. It must be nice. I really am very tired of worrying about money. That $400 I get every month for this federal job training program doesn't even about to cover the deficit in my my budget. It seems to be gone almost before it even gets deposited. And next month I have to pay the second half of the 2010 taxes on my house. That's $656.01. I transferred that out of my savings and into my checking this morning. I'd better stop before I get depressed on top of everything else.

More later....

I worked today. I actually wasted a lot of time because my supervisor had not planned anything for me to do. Because of that I sat around for half my shift. I do not like that kind of time wasting. I like to stay busy.

Then after I left work I went to Independence to pay the second half of my 2010 taxes. That really depleted my meager savings. I also appealed my 2011 assessment. It is ridiculous. I notice when he ran me a copy of the comps that all the houses that sold, sold before 2009..in 2008, before the housing crash. The prices were inflated then. Now it's nearly impossible to sell a house around here. They will notify me as to the time of my appointment. I drove by all the houses they had as comps and the comparisons are ridiculous.

I know...I know..I'm doing a lot of complaining.

I worked yesterday afternoon getting the last of my leaves picked up and bagged and then the trash man did not pick them up. I ran out to stop him and he informed me that he could only take five bags and I had eleven. I told him I was afraid the wind would blow those bags around and tear them and scatter those leaves all over the yard again. Finally, he agreed to back up and take them. I won't be leaving him any more bags since I have the leaves under control now.

This hasn't been my best day!

Sunday again

The weeks fly by as we get older. I will attend church school and church, as usual today. We will probably eat somewhere after church. I am still very tired from the week's yard work. But I am making a dent in it. If I can get some mulch this week and get the flowerbeds mulched, I will be ahead of the game. I may have to mow again too this week. I got my laundry caught up yesterday as well.

I want to see if I can move my hair appointment closer to the weekend. Leslie and I will be attending the Restoration Studies Symposium this next weekend in Independence, Missouri. Bob A. will feed my animals and water my flowers if they need watering. I will wait until after the symposium to buy my hanging baskets. He doesn't need any more to do for me.

More later...

We ate at Sirloin Stockade today. My daughter and son-in-law wanted Chinese so they did not eat with the rest of us. They went to Hong Kong Delight.

After dinner, I came home and weeded my front flowerbed. Rather, I should say, I took the leaves out of it...one by one. It took me an hour but it looks nice now. I have another stretch just east of that part I got done this afternoon and then it will be all finished...just in time to mow again. But I have eleven large bags of leaves out at the curb. The trash people come tomorrow. The photo above shows that mess of trash bags.

Tonight I plan to watch 60 Minutes and then another show or so before I go to bed. I work my three hours again tomorrow and the rest of the week.
