I slept well last night and woke up with a sore arm. I evidently laid on my right side all night long and that was just too much for that shoulder. I took off the brace and turned over on my left side and tucked that sore arm under my pillow. By the time I woke up again, it was fine. I got up at 5:00AM as usual.
I have had my oatmeal and coffee and am working on my chai now.
I opened my front door at 5:45AM and half a dozen cats and kittens were waiting for their breakfast. Scruffy and three of her kittens and one of the adolescent yellow cats I call Miss Kitty were there waiting for me to bring it out. Scruffy just got a little food before her kittens crowded her out. She is patiently waiting for them to finish so she can eat some more. I took the double dish and two green dishes out so there is plenty for them all.
I never did get the dining room and den vacuumed this week. I will do that after the CBS news goes off at 8:00AM. It's only 5:55AM now and I am waiting for the 6:00AM CBS news to come on.
More later....
I needed four things from the Dollar General store so I went out there before I began my cleaning and learned right away that not much has changed in the face mask department. We are supposed to wear a face mask every time we go outside or in a store. In fact there was a sign right there by the door that customers were supposed to be wearing face masks now...governor's orders. There were about dozen customers in that store and I was the only one wearing a face mask. That is so disgusting. They weren't even trying to enforce their sign. I got my groceries, paid for them and left.
More later...I still have a vacuum....
I got the vacuuming done and also started a new book. It's another mystery. More later....
I stayed up until 9:15PM but finally had to just give up and go to bed. I had finished my latest book anyhow and there was nothing on TV.

Friday and More Vacuuming
I slept well again last night and was was up around 5:00AM. By 6:00AM I had my bed made and my clothes on and was fixing and eating my breakfast. I soon looked out and saw Scruffie and three of her four kittens. Later one of the adolescent cats also came for her/his breakfast. I fed them all and then brought in the bowls before the birds started in on the leftover food.
I have been watching the channel 6 news and the CBS news too. It's 8:30AM now and the CBS news doesn't go off until 10:00AM. After that, I will vacuum the dining room and den. I have no other plans for today. Once more, people are ignoring the precautions and the active cases of the virus are seriously surging. Some people are so ignorant and selfish. We have been advised by experts to wear face masks in public and stay away from crowds of people. Especially many young people are so self absorbed that they just don't care who they infect.
More later...
Nancy's cousin's wife called me to make sure I still intended to bring in a pizza for our lunch. I told her that was my plan and I intended to do that but Pizza Hut didn't open until 11:00AM and I wanted to do something different. I went over to Nancy's and asked her what she thought of going to Independence to the Chinese buffet. She was delighted! She loves Chinese and needs to get out of the house. So that's what we did. We wore our face masks. She insisted that I let her buy my lunch since I would be driving. I gave in and agreed. She said I drove since she is not comfortable driving out of town anymore.
I suggested we try to go out of town to eat once a week as long as she was feeling well. It's so good to get out of the house. She definitely agreed. We will wear our face masks whenever we are outside or in a store that is crowded.
When I got home, about 4:30PM, I turned on the news and will watch it until the CBS news comes on and then watch that too.
I finished my book last night and got to bed about 10:00PM.
More later...
I watched some Amazon Prime this evening and also brought in my two plants. We are forecast for rain and I don't know what kind of wind might come with the rain. There is quite a whistling wind out there right now. I took my bath about 7:00PM and am going to try to stay up longer. Sometimes I sleep better when I stay up later. It's only 8:45PM right now.

Thursday and Laundry and Cleaning
I slept well last night but woke up early around 4:00AM. I knew I would just toss and turn if I stayed in bed so I just got up and dressed and had my breakfast.
I have laundry in the dryer now and will swifter the bare floors, and vacuum the bedroom, halls and living room later this morning. It's only 5:30AM now so I have plenty of time.
I am watching the channel 6 news right now.
I have a mystery from yesterday. I went to Walmart yesterday after my hair appointment and bought a few things I needed. One of those things was my Chai Latte. It was on my ticket so I know I got it but when I got home yesterday afternoon and took my groceries out of the car and put them away, I didn't have that box of Chai Latte. I went back out and checked the car, under the seat and everywhere but it was not there. I had put away an empty cart so I know I didn't leave it in the cart. It's a mystery.
I hate to admit it, but since channel 6 improved their signal last week, I can really tell the difference in my TV picture. It's much sharper.
I haven't opened the front door yet to see how many cats are out there waiting for their breakfast. It's almost 6:00AM so I guess I should do that.
So more later...
Sure enough, there was Scruffie and one of the adolescent yellow cats and three of Scruffie's kittens ....the yellow one, the black one and one of the gray kittens. They are all eating like they haven't eaten in a week. I know better then that. They have evidently found a piece of paper and torn it all up and left it on the ground right outside my front door. When they have finished eating and gone, I will go back out there and clean that up and water that plant. It's supposed to rain today or tonight and tomorrow too. Wouldn't you know...I washed my car yesterday while I was in Coffeyville. Maybe I will just leave it in the garage.
More even later...
After I fed the cats I trimmed the hedge again. It still needs some more help but I am trying to even up the height.
I called Nancy before lunch and her cousin's wife answered the phone. I mentioned we had planned to go to lunch and she advised against it . She said the coronavirus was too virulent for us to go to a restaurant. So instead I ate the rest of my Schwan's cashew chicken from Tuesday.
Scruffie came by for lunch so I fed her. None of her kittens came with her this time. She is finished now so I had better get that dish back in.
It's thundering now and evidently it's going to rain. It hasn't started yet but it could start anytime. Scruffie came back again so I put the food back out. Now she's gone again. I should get it in before the rain starts .
More even later....
I vacuumed the bedroom, halls and living room and swiftered (mopped) the bathroom, foyer and kitchen bare floors. Tomorrow I will vacuum the den and dining room. That will do it for another week. I will still have to dust.
I am watching the channel 6 4:00PM news now. I have read in my new free book from Amazon ever since I finished the housework.
It never did rain here.

Wednesday and a Restless Night
I don't know why but I woke up several times in the night and had trouble getting back to sleep. That's unusual anymore. It's 4:30AM now and I got up to check if I had enough in my checking account to cover the rent, etc. It will be the 8th before I get my Social Security and that's earlier then usual so it shouldn't be a problem. It's just one of those restless nights. Too much sitting around reading, I guess, and too much TV. I may as well just stay up now.
Later, I will check with Bob and see if he wants to go to breakfast at Eggbert's in Coffeyville. I will need to go to the bank, get my hair done at Toni's, go to the library there, get stamps at the post office, have a light lunch, and then go to the senior center for Bunco. Afterward, I will go to John and Leslie's for her birthday doings. I hope her gift comes today. She is concerned about me being around the folks that she works with because of the virus. I may just drop off her gift later and come on back home.
More later....I need to make my bed and get dressed.
I called Bob when I didn't hear from him earlier and he had already had cinnamon toast for his breakfast so we will do breakfast another day.
I have been thinking about Leslie's concerns about exposing me to her co-workers and decided to take that concern away from her. She is right anyhow. Her co-workers have been exposed to all sorts of people there at the crisis center and she was concerned that I might be exposed to the virus and at my age I am most at risk, So I told her this morning that I understood her concern and would come early before they came and be gone before they got there. I will put her gift in the car and take it with me to Coffeyville even without the other part of it.
I still have my errands to run in Coffeyville besides my hair appointment and the Bunco game.
So, more later...
The afternoon worked out fine. Janet took temperatures at the senior center.
I left at 3:00PM and went out to Leslie's. I only stayed an hour and left after she gave me my home made ice cream. She seemed happy with the wine
I know there are troubling memories about this year. I know every time of our lives , even the worst of them have their good memories too but I believe this year has been one of the most depressing in ten years. I hate being isolated from my family and friends....but I have dealt with it. I have done a lot of things I usually never have time for.,,,cleaned out drawers, weeded out old stuff from my file cabinet, worked on my flowerbeds...lots of stuff like that. I refuse to stay depressed.
It is 5:30PM now and I am watching the news.
At 7:00PM, I will take my bath and later at 9:00PM go on to bed.

Tuesday and Possible Rain
I slept well last night again and got up about 5:00AM and dressed and fixed my breakfast. I have had my oatmeal and coffee and even fed Scruffie and three of her kittens. One of the yellow ones, a gray one and the black one came with Scruffie. They finished and went back across the street.
Big Yellow Tom Cat came back for breakfast after they left. I am glad those black dogs didn't catch him but he must not have eaten in the past three days because he cleaned up all the leftover cat food. He is gone now too.
I don't have a plan for today. Maybe I will call Nancy later after she wakes up and see if she is up for company.
I sent out four birthday cards yesterday to members of the church. Rick, Leslie, Chato and Johnna all have birthdays this week. I miss seeing everyone at church. We haven't had real church since April.
More later...
I watched the CBS news this morning.
I fixed that cashew chicken I got from Schwan's months ago and had frozen all this time. It was alright but I much prefer Great China's. I ate half of it and saved half of it for Thursday. I also watered the two plants out there. I don't know whether we will get that rain or not. It really doesn't look like it. I did go out and sweep off the walk.
I was supposed to get Leslie's birthday gift in the mail today but it didn't come. Her birthday is tomorrow so maybe it will get here before I go out to their house tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow is my usual breakfast with Bob, my hair appointment and Bunco at the senior center. I will also drop by their library and return the book I borrowed there last week. I had already read that one and just didn't remember the title.
I started a new book this morning. It is another John Grisham book and they are usually pretty good reading and am not particularly impressed thus far. It is called "Fetching Raymond: A Story from the Ford County".. I finished the book this evening. It turned out better then I thought.
I sent out a devotional ailing this afternoon. I always thing it's good to stay in touch with the congregation. A devotional is a good way to do that.
Tomorrow is my daughter Leslie's 63rd birthday. She will make homemade ice cream and I intend to go to that and wear my mask. Her friends will go swimming in their pool. I will stay out of that. Although if it's nice I will sit outside. That's safer. When I go out of my apartment, I wear a mask. I will take my brother-in-law to breakfast tomorrow morning, go to the beauty shop, take a book back to the library there and afterward go to Bunco at the senior center tomorrow afternoon. Janet takes our temperature when we go in the senior center and we wear face masks.
I took my bath after 6:00PM and will try to stay awake until my regular bedtime.
At about 6:30PM, I ate my nightly banana and a breakfast bar. That should hold me until breakfast.
So far today we have not had rain.

Monday and Another Mowing Day
I slept well again last night and got up close to 5:00AM made my bed and dressed for the day. I have had my breakfast and coffee and chai latte.
Scruffie and all her kittens came for breakfast this morning. She didn't come for supper last night so I figured she would be here first thing this morning. I haven't seen any of the yellow cats though...not yet anyhow. I am concerned about Big Yellow Tom since those two black dogs were chasing him yesterday. And of course there are two other younger yellow cats too and I haven't seen either of them either.
I would like to get my yard mowed this afternoon. With the rain last week, it really grew. I have texted Krystal to ask if they can do it today.
More later...
I heard back from Krystal and they will be here at 2:00PM to mow. I didn't get any mail and I ate a frozen meal for lunch and had an ice cream bar afterward. I read my Kindle all afternoon and finished the book I had downloaded.
They arrived at 2:00PM and the daughter mowed for me. After I paid them and they left. I took the trimmer out and trimmed again. That's good for another week.
It's 3:45PM now and I need to go to Dollar General for a few things on my list. It's terribly humid this afternoon. I definitely will have to water those plants again this evening.
More later...
I went out to Dollar general and got the few things I needed and got them put away.
I played a game on the laptop computer and later watered the flowers outside and left them outside. It isn't supposed to rain tonight.
I dread the noise tonight and the rest of the week. Here in Caney they let kids do their fireworks for a full week. Last night that noise went on until 11:00PM
No cats came for supper. tonight. Maybe the fireworks scares them off.
I will rake my bath at 7:00PM and plan to go to bed at 9:00PM.

Sunday and Online Church
I slept well again last night and I wore the brace again. I got up at 5:00AM as usual, made my bed and got myself ready for the day. I have had my breakfast and am working on my coffee now.
When I opened the front door this morning only gray Scruffie was there. She has eaten and is gone. None of the other cats have come for their breakfast. Last evening Big Yellow Tom Cat was here having his supper when a small black pickup came by and the man driving let two big black dogs out to chase Big Yellow Tom. Of course, Tom took off as fast as his legs could carry him and ran across the street and into a bush. The pickup driver then picked up his dogs and they left the neighborhood. I THINK Tom got away. At least I didn't see the two dogs tearing at an animal. I was furious! I wish I could have got his license number. I would have turned him in. I haven't seen Big Yellow Tom yet this morning and he is usually here for breakfast.
Gray Scruffie seldom misses a meal. She is still nursing the four kittens too. She is pretty thin.
More later....
I know every time of our lives , even the worst of them have their good memories too but I believe this year has been one of the most depressing in ten years. I hate being isolated from my family and friends....but I have dealt with it. I have done a lot of things I usually never have time for.,,,cleaned out drawers, weeded out old stuff from my file cabinet, worked on my flowerbed...lots of stuff like that. I refuse to stay depressed. I even washed windows here at the apartment last week. And I painted my birdhouse.
I just had a nice surprise from my daughter. She is having homemade ice cream on Wednesday, which is her birthday, and she just texted me and invited me out. She is having some of her co-workers out to celebrate too. She will be 63,..and looks about 43. I am so delighted. I didn't know what plans she and John might have so I hated to try to make any plans with her . That Wednesday will be special!
I will probably have breakfast as usual with Bob and then get my hair done and go to the library and have lunch somewhere and then go to the senior center for Bunco. After that, I will go out to their home for the party. It will be a special day for her and also for me and the others.
More later...
I saw a large black cat come to eat and I didn't have the food out there. I assume that black cat is the father of that little black kitten of Scruffie's. He may be the father of the entire four kitten litter.
Bob texted me this morning to offer to buy me lunch if I wanted to choose a good place to eat. I suggested Sam's in Independence because I know he really enjoys that place. I will drive over to his place and we will ride up together. I am to be at his place at 12:15PM. so I will leave here shortly before 12:00Noon. It takes me about 20 minutes to get there.
I have watered my potted plants outside. They are doing well in the sunshine as long as I water them twice a day. As long as it is in the 90's I will need to do that.
More even later...
I watched my Sunday morning programs this morning and also "Face the Nation" with John Dickerson. It's amazing the flurry of new cases in California, Arizona and Florida ...but especially Texas. Washington State also has had a flurry of new ones. Most of the new cases are kids under 35. They go to the beaches and sit close together without masks and dare the virus to get them...and it is. Whenever I go out to the Dollar General or Walmart, I wear a mask. In Coffeyville, you cannot go into the post office without one and you can't go into the library without one. That's smart. When I went to the senior center on Wednesday for game day, Janet took everyone's temperature. You couldn't come in without your temperature being taken. That's smart too! Everyone John talked to said it would be wonderful for the President and Vice President to get on board with face masks and show some leadership. The president keeps saying the virus will fade away by itself without a cure. Even his expect on it in Washington says that will not happen. As long as he does those things and says those things, the people who credit him with credibility will use that as an excuse to avoid doing it themselves.
And the President keeps talking about "fake news". There is no legitimate fake news. The fake news is on facebook and online and with twitter and that kind of thing. The legitimate news sources are attempting to keep everyone advised of the truth, I check everything said with politifact.
More later....I will leave in 30 minutes for Coffeyville and lunch with Bob at Sam's in Independence.
Bob and I had a very good lunch at Sam's in Independence. Afterward when I got back to his apartment, I drove back home and spent the afternoon doing odds and ends.
At 7;00PM I watched the church service from Springfield Missouri. Leslie had a good part in it too and John Wite's sermon was good too .
I haven't seen any cats today or this evening. When I left for Coffeyville to meet Bob, I noticed Scruffie was sitting by my front door hoping for food. But I was leaving for Coffeyville then and figured she would catch me this evening. I check just a couple of minutes ago and there were no cats waiting for supper either. They might be good and hungry by morning,.
I took my bath at 7:00PM after that was over and got myself ready for bed. I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM although I may not be able to sleep. Caney lets the kids do their fireworks for a week and they began last night. They were still shooting stuff off at 11:00PM last night.
