I slept wonderfully last night and didn't wake up until 6:00...late for me. I got Missy fed and got myself ready for breakfast out with Bob. We both had the Silver Dollar Special.
After he took me home, I did a load of laundry and later called Karan to see if she would like to go to Bartlesville with me. I had not been there for a long time. She and I went to pick up her meds at the Prescription Shop and then left for Bartlesville. There we went by Lowe's to check out the progress of the new shopping center. It looks like it will be opening the last of August. It will also have a TJ Maxx.
We stopped at Eastland Center so Karan could shop for two new recliners. She found what she was looking for there and took some swatches home to check for colors. She will do a special order to get the cover she wants. Then I stopped at QT to get gas.
We went to eat at McCalister's but they were closed for remodeling. So we went downtown to Pies and More but they were closed on Saturday. We ended up eating lunch at the old Martin's building and had a Reuben sandwich. It was very good but I took half of mine home for Bob. He loves Reuben sandwiches..
We had a good visit. So more later...
When I got home I laid down with Missy and watched TV and rested. At 5:30 or so, Bob came over to watch the news and read the Journal. He left at 6:00 and I took my bath and got ready for bed. I laid down with Missy again and we watched TV until 9:00 when we went to bed.

Friday and Exercises Again
I slept really well last night and feel like a new person today. I was exhausted last night and had a terrible headache. I don't recall ever having anything but sinus headaches in the past.
I noticed my watch battery was down this morning so I made a fast trip out to Walmart to get one installed. Luckily Keith had put some money in my account. The cost, even at Walmart, has really gone up. Then I stopped at the bank for money. I was down to $5.00.
I will pick up Bob for exercises this morning and we may go to Utopia afterward too. We plan to have our leftover roast for lunch.
I will get back to this later...It's time to pick up Bob for exercises.
We went to exercises and afterward went to Utopia for cinnamon rolls and coffee and Utopiachino. So we will have a later lunch. I am full and so is Bob.
More later...
We did have a later lunch and it was fine. We took the leftover roast to Marilyn.
I got my mail and got my new ATM card with the chip in it. I activated it and then went over to Rutledge's and they showed me their art collections. Sylvia is an artist and a very good one.
When I got home my paper was here. I read it and then did the crossword puzzle.
Bob is due her in 15 minutes. He comes and watches the news here. Tonight we will watch Brooks and Shields on PBS.
More later...
After Bob left I took my bath and watched TV with Missy until 9:00 and then I took my Zzzquil and went to bed.

Thursday and Another Sleepless Night
I went to bed at 9:00 and went right to sleep. At 2:30, I turned over in my sleep and Missy fell off the bed. That woke me up and I went to the bathroom. When I went back to bed, I could never get back to sleep. At 3:30 I just got up. I was just not going to be able to get back to sleep and it was too late to take a Zzzquil. I want to clean the apartment today. So I need some energy. I will try to get a nap this afternoon. I have fed Missy and myself and it is now 5:20 AM.
We had some rain last night but no hail as was forecast. They had us under a severe storm warning. It's still dark out so I can't tell if there is any wind damage yet. It's supposed to be 89 degrees today.
Bob and I will eat at El Pueblito at lunch today. I have cooked three days this week and we will eat our roast beef leftovers tomorrow. Saturday mornings we always eat breakfast out at Eggberts and that's our primary meal on Saturdays. Sundays Phyllis F., Bob and I eat at "Just Us" in Cherryvale.
More later...
When I got home from lunch I called the University of Kansas University Medical Center to see if they were on the list for Medicare. They told me I would have to call Medicare to learn that. So I called Medicare and after fifteen minutes or so finally got through to the person I needed to talk with to learn that information. After several minutes she informed me that the KUMC was not on their list. I called my doctor's office to tell them that I would have to cancel my appointment. The receptionist told me the doctor wasn't in until tomorrow but that he referred many people to KUMC and that seemed strange.
So I decided to call Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I explained the situation to Laurie there and she said could I hold a moment? After she came back on she said she felt Beberah Williams at Medicare must have been confused. Blue Cross/Blue Shield handles many cases from KUMC and they do not pay if Medicare doesn't pay. And they pay all the time. So I decided to call Medicare back and hope I got another agent. This time I got Shanna. Shanna said there must have been a mistake. The hospital is listed as The University of Kansas Medical Center and Medicare does accept them. She said every hospital in the US HAS to accept payment by Medicare. They are required by law to do that. So I called the doctor's office back and explained what I had learned. Incompetence! Thank God I pursued it. That took two hours to learn.
Missy has slept all afternoon. That old cat sleeps her life away.
More later...
Bob came over at 5:15 and stayed until 7:00. When he left I took my bath and got ready for bed. There was nothing to watch on TV so I decided to go to bed. By this time it was 9:05.

Wednesday and Exercises
I went to bed at 9:30 after taking a Melatonin tablet. That didn't work by 10:30 so I finally took a Zzzquil capsule. After awhile that put me to sleep. I woke up once in the night and got right back to sleep. I slept until 5:00.
I sold a book on Amazon last night. I will need to get it into the mail this morning. Every once in awhile I sell a book. You have to get it in the mail within two days. Then in two weeks you get your money deposited into your account.
I got myself ready for my day right away. I will go to exercises this morning but before I leave I will put a roast in the slow cooker with potatoes and carrots. I have some of Bob's coleslaw from yesterday so we will finish that off. I also have two puddings for dessert with a cookie.
After it gets light out I will take Missy out for awhile. It is forecast for rain tonight so this morning may our last chance to go outside.
More later...
I took Missy out for about ten minutes but then she wanted to come back in. I can't figure her out.
I went over to the market and bought a small package of carrots and two onions and that cost me over $5.00. The cost of groceries has become sky high. It's almost time for the CBS news and I am curious about what damage Trump has done overnight.
So...more later.
I went to the post office before the exercise class and sent off that book. Then I went on to exercise class.
The roast was very good. After I cleaned up after it I got ready to go out to Asbury Village for the game.
There's a lot of discussion about the president's remarks yesterday and I'm not surprised.
Afterward I went out to church to see if we caught any mice in the traps I set yesterday. We didn't.
When I got home, Bob was here and had given Missy her treats. We watched the CBS news and then went over to Brahms to have an ice cream cone.
After that, he went home.
I took my bath and got ready for bed. We are under a storm warning tonight. It's only 7:30 so I have awhile before my 9:00 bedtime.

Tuesday and Hair Day
I awoke at 3:00 to go to the bathroom and that was all the sleep I could get. I ended up getting up at 4:00AM. I have fed myself and Missy and got myself ready for the day.
I don't know what my problem is but I am losing a lot of sleep and that is not healthy. I may ask Bob to work with me and not come over except on Friday evening and Sunday evening. We watch Brooks and Shields on Friday evening on PBS and 60 Minutes on CBS on Sunday evening. I would turn off the TV and read all evening and I would read a real book..not my Kindle. The TV, computers, cell phones and even the Kindle emit a blue light that interferes with our sleep. I would like to experiment to try to discover what is keeping me awake. I think the stimulation of talking in the evening also may interfere with it. If I can discover what works, I will just quietly read in the evening before bedtime.
This morning I will pick Bob up at 8:20 to go with me while I get my hair done and then later we will eat at Big Cheese.
I will also need to go to the market this morning for potatoes for tomorrow's lunch and Half and Half for my coffee. That's about all I need except I will also need to go to Brahms for my yogurt.
Juanita called yesterday and wants me to to drop by next Tuesday to address a wedding card for one of her granddaughters and write her a check for a wedding gift. By then she may have her bank statement and I can balance her checkbook at the same time.
More later...
Bob called me shortly after 8:00 to say he had forgotten that this was the third Tuesday of the month and he had a senior center board meeting. So I went to Independence by myself. I set the pork cutlets out to thaw. Afterward I stopped at the church and set two mouse traps. Johnna, the teacher and also one of our three pastors, had seen evidence of a mouse in her classroom. I had left two traps baited for four weeks and we had not seen any evidence of mice so I had put them away.
When I got home I cleaned up the flowerbeds and watered them. I threw away the tomato plant. Then I went to the market and bought potatoes and a roast for tomorrow.
When I got home, I started lunch. Bob came over after that and we had lunch. Marilyn R. had called me to say she had some baked beans that she had made for her dinner last night and asked if I would like some. I was delighted and went right over to pick them up. I had not known what veggie I would serve. That gave me a good one. I also made some pudding for dessert.
I lay down with Missy after Bob left and took a nap. I slept a couple of hours...evidently making up for all the sleep I had lost lately.
Steve came after I got up from my nap and mowed our yard here. I was so glad. Here is Steve. He always comes to mow before the rain if at all possible. He is a really nice person.
More later....
Bob didn't come over last night. There was a cookout at Sycamore Landing and he stayed for that.
I watched TV with Missy after I took my bath. At 9:30, Missy and I went to bed. I couldn't get to sleep so I took a melatonin

Monday and Poor Sleep
This morning I awoke at 2:00AM and went to the bathroom and never was able to get back to sleep. I finally just got up at 4:00AM. My sinus's are draining and I guess I will need to take a Zyrtec tablet or I will drown in my own juices. Maybe that will help.
Today I will go with Leslie to Tulsa. She needs to get her state birth certificate for her passport. In October, she and John are taking a Bermuda cruise. They went to Bartlesville to get that done last week but what she had was the hospital's birth certificate and she needed the one from the state of Oklahoma. So John got his but she will need to go to Tulsa to get hers. She didn't want to get it ordered over the phone like I did here in Kansas. Anyhow I am taking the trip with her. She will be by at 8:30 to pick me up.
I will wait another month until September to get mine for our cruise in June of next year. I had my car registration and tag to get this month and that took some of my extra money. Last month I had my car insurance to pay and the insurance on the contents of the apartment.
I can't say I enjoyed the Living the Questions meeting last night. I may drop out of these meetings if Howard keeps insisting we use his DVD. None of us like it but he is determined to use it. It is John Dominic Crossan lecturing on the situation under Roman domination in the day of Jesus. I can just take so much of Crossan and evidently the others, all but Howard, feel the same way.
I dropped out of the PINCH organization for similar reasons. Howard is obsessed with social justice issues but I cannot get all that excited about one person attempting to change an entire society. It takes a movement to do that. And it takes years. Just think about Martin Luther King and his movement. His got him killed eventually just as Jesus's got him killed. The status quo doesn't like to be challenged. I say Capitalism is greed driven and if you think about it, that is true. The rich and powerful are not going to let anyone change the status quo. I just continue to write my letters to the newspapers around here because I realize that does get their attention. I am reaching their constituency.
It may not do any good but it makes me feel better about addressing the issues we face in America nowadays. It's certainly a different world then the one I grew up in...a much more violent one. It seems everyone has a gun anymore and are not shy about using them when they lose their tempers. Many people do things in a moment of anger that they would never do under different circumstances.
More later...
I went with Leslie to Tulsa for her to get her Oklahoma birth certificate and Jeromy, her son's, as well. John and Leslie are going on a cruise in October and they needed their state birth certificates in order to get a passport. John got his last week because he had his state birth certificate. Leslie just had the one from the hospital and that will not do.
Afterward, we went to the Olive Garden for lunch. Leslie bought. Then we went shopping for John some new clothes. After that, on the way home, she told me her hair had been falling out. I told her I thought that could be stress. She has a horrendous job as a case manager at Four County Mental Health.
On the way back through Coffeyville she stopped for a new tire for her mower. She had damaged the old one by hitting the barbed wire fence while she mowed.
Then she brought me home. Missy was glad to see me.
More later....
Later, about 4:00 Bob came over to hear about our trip and watch the CBS news on TV. He left after that was over and I took my bath and laid with Missy on the sofa to watch TV. When I woke up later Missy and I went on to bed. It was about 9:30.

Sunday and Coffee Cake
I did not sleep all that well last night. I took melatonin but I woke up at 3:00 AM, went to the bathroom and took my thyroid med and went back to bed. But I could not get back to sleep.I went over and over the hassle with the Bose remote I dealt with yesterday morning from 10:00 until 1:30. I could not turn off my mind.
Finally at 4:00 AM I just gave up and got up. It will be a long day. I have my coffeecake out of the oven and am waiting for it to cool to ice it..or glaze it...whatever. I took Missy out for awhile...about thirty minutes. I dead headed the flowers in the back and watered the ones in the pots in the front. There were mosquitoes out there and I was glad she wanted to come in.
I will pick up Bob and Phyllis around 9:00. I am driving because I have the coffeecake to take. We will probably go back to "Just Us" over at Cherryvale for lunch. The "Railroad Inn" last Sunday was very expensive for Bob and me. I invited Rick and Carmen again. I hope they will come. I left a reminder note on their windshield. Leslie is speaking this morning.
When I get home, I will do the newsletters and later at 7:00 go to Karan's for the Living the Questions group meeting. I will pick up Gary. He wants to go this time. So far it looks like Karan, Gary and Bob and me, Judy and Howard, Marilyn, Richard and Mona and John and Wendy. I haven't heard from Joyce. So..at this point, just eleven of us. That's a good number for a small group study.
At the last moment, Richard and Mona had to cancel. But Joyce came. So we had 10. When I got home and took my bath, Missy and I went to bed. I had baked cookies before the meeting and had had a very big day.
