Saturday and a Free Day

I slept pretty well last night after spending the afternoon with Nancy. Her nephew wants her to investigate some assisted living places in Bartlesville, She is not interested. All her friends live in Caney and she is 84 years old. She still takes care of her huge old house. She still drives locally and although she is forgetful (like most of us in our 80s) she definitely does not have Alzheimer's Disease. About five years ago she said she was diagnosed with it but she is perfectly lucid and after five years she should be showing a lot more confusion if that were true. I should know, my sister died of Alzheimer Disease. I think Nancy was misdiagnosed. I visit her every couple of weeks and we have a fine visit and go to lunch. We worked together when I worked at Blackledge Furniture in the 70's. I managed the gift shop and sold furniture when I wasn't busy and she sold furniture and consulted with customers about their decorating. Her mother and stepfather owned the store and it sold high end furniture.

After I got home from Caney, I moved my new acrylic to the living room wall right next to my curio cabinet.

I got up close to 5:00AM, dressed and got myself ready for the day. I fed Missy and fixed myself some regular oatmeal. I need a few groceries but will have to wait unto Wednesday when my social security comes in to buy them.

I'm not sure what I will do with the day. I have to come up with some "finger foods" to take to the backpacking meeting at church this evening. I am not sure what "finger foods" are. I try not to snack so that is unclear to me.

So, more later....Missy is interested in going "outside". She spent most of the day alone yesterday so I feel sorry for her and should take her out.

I did take Missy out for awhile and she seemed to enjoy it. Bob called and wanted to come over for awhile and visit while he waited for Joanne to get up and around for breakfast. Missy enjoyed seeing him again too. She was pretty good. She wanted to come in after awhile to eat and drink some water so he came in for awhile too. Then Joanne texted him she was ready for breakfast so he left to go pick her up.

I went out to Country Mart to see if they had any snack trays I could take to the backpack party this evening but they didn't so I went out to Walmart and bought a small one.

Then about 9:00, I called Nancy to see if she was alright. She said she still has kind of a queezy stomach. She needs to call the nurse practitioner to see how her tests came out but she hesitates to do that. They should have called her but they did not. I visited with her awhile but finally got off the phone and went out on the patio area and deadheaded my flowers and watered them. Now it's 10:00 and that's all I have done.

This afternoon I mostly just puttered.  I got the flowerbeds watered. I worked on my next sermon. Rick called and asked if I would take their school supplies out to the church, He and Carmen will be working until 9:00 getting the paperwork ready for their trip to Canton, Ohio tomorrow. He brought their school supplies by and put them in my car.   He says they will be at church and then leave for Ohio after church. At 6:00 I headed out to the church.

We ate, and afterward, started loading the school supplies into the back packs.  We had 22 altogether. Melissa and Kelly will deliver them to Caney's Lincoln  school.

I got home about 8:00 and took my bath and got ready for bed. Missy refused to come lie down with me on the sofa. She appeared to be miffed because I wasn't home all evening for our regular routine. Silly cat!

Anyhow after watching a couple of episodes of Amazon Prime's  Perry Mason, I went on to bed. Sometime later, Missy came in to bed.

Friday and a Busy Day

I slept fairly well last night. I did get up at 4:00 after it became apparent that I had my sleep out and was just lying there wide awake.

I got myself ready for the day, fed Missy and myself. After it got light I took her out while I deadheaded the flowers. Then she was ready to come back in. I have a load of laundry in the washer now. I will dry it in a little while.

My son in law is coming over at 10:00 to bring me a painting he has painted for my apartment. He has taken up painting for a hobby and he's pretty good. That's nice of him!

After he leaves, I will go over to Caney and Nancy and I will go to lunch. I want to pay my rent when the bank opens. I transferred some money out of my savings to do that. I will put it back when I get my social security next week. My car registration is due this month too and that is well over $100. extra.  My Amazon Prime will come out of this month too. That will be for an entire year though.

More in a moment. I want to get that laundry in the dryer.

Well, I have my laundry in the dryer now. That's about all the work I have to do today. I should go to the market and get some oatmeal for my breakfasts.  Everything else can wait until I get my social security.

The CBS news is on now. I will get back to this later.

I watched the news and then John came with my art. He has taken up painting for a hobby. This is the acrylic he brought me. It is very pretty.

 No automatic alt text available.

After that, I left for Caney. Nancy and I will go to lunch at Eggberts and afterward we will visit.

I got home at shortly after 5:00.  I turned on the TV and so far no tearing picture.  This morning I had to watch the CBS news on the computer with Amazon Prime.

I gave Missy her treats. I probably won't eat anything for supper. I am still full from lunch.
In an hour, I will take my bath and put my pj's on.  Then I will watch some vintage TV on Amazon Prime.  and go to bed at 9:00PM.

Thursday and Ministerial Alliance

I slept better last night again. I woke up at 11:30 but got right back to sleep. I slept until 4:00AM, when I just got up. I dressed and got myself ready for the day and fed myself and Missy. Missy wants to go outside, as usual, but it's not even 6:00AM yet and still dark outside. I never take her out in the dark. There are too many strays around the neighborhood.

I will go to Ministerial Alliance meeting at noon. I am the new Secretary/Treasurer for the year so I will be taking notes for the minutes. I also need to get the signatures of the president and vice president for the bank account.

Other then that, I have no plans for the day. I owe my rent but won't have the money until the 7th unless I transfer some money from my savings.  I hate it that my social security doesn't come in until the second Wednesday of the month. I always have to deal with that.

The news is on and the picture is fine this morning.  It seems to tear only in the evening when I want to watch the Channel 6 and CBS  news. I watched it streaming on this computer last night since the TV was impossible.

Bob dropped over for awhile to visit. He left about 8:30 to go shave and  go over to Joanne's  house. She is having a lot done to repair her garage.  Her deceased husband had some dementia and insisted on driving and he ran the car into the garage wall several times. She is having that all repaired.

He has spent some time over there overseeing the work.

More later...I am going to take Missy outside again.

I took her out back with me for awhile and she was very good while I watered and deadheaded everything. But it was hot out there and I was  ready to come back in and she did not want to. As I insisted she growled and hissed and snapped at me. She was furious but I still made her come back in. Now she is napping in on my bed.

In about 45 minutes, I will go on to Ministerial Alliance.

My afternoon is free..I will type up the minutes and then perhaps do some laundry or catch something on TV .

I didn't get a lot done this afternoon. I did get the report on the Ministerial Alliance meeting done and sent out to the alliance members. Then I wrote up an article for the newspaper about the meeting.

I had some of my yogurt for supper and watched the CBS news online. My TV was tearing again so I streamed it to my notebook. and then at 7:00 took my bath and watched some TV on Amazon Prime,

At 9:00 Missy and I went to bed.

Wednesday and a Better Night's Sleep

I slept better last night...only woke up once...at 12:30AM. I went right back to sleep until almost 5:00AM ..then I got up. Of course, I had taken a Aleve...not that it did a lot....but it might have helped a little.

I got myself ready for the day and fed myself and Missy. Then when it got light, I took her outside. It was a little chilly so she didn't stay out long. Then later, I took her out on the patio and we stayed out there while I dead headed the petunias and the roses. It was still pretty chilly so she didn't mind coming back in. It's 63 degrees right now at 7:09AM.

I am still thinking about skipping exercises this morning since my right shoulder has been so sore. I may just be aggravating it.  I could still go to Bunco this afternoon.

I cleaned the apartment yesterday and that vacuuming may have aggravated it even more...even though I mostly used my left arm to push the vacuum. Bob thinks I might need an x-ray to see just what is going on in there. I just don't know how I would function without a right arm while I went through some kind of physical therapy.

More later...

Because of the Texan who wants to let anyone..anyone at all.... download plans to build three D  printable guns, which cannot be regulated or traced, the second amendment needs to be examined more carefully.

The amendment reads: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

In the day this was written in 1791, there was no standing army and no police forces.  Communities were dependent on militias for protection against Indian and enemy raids.

Terrorists will have no problem at all downloading these plans and using them to build untraceable weapons.

This amendment needs to be updated by the Supreme Court with our present society and culture in mind.

More later....

I ate some more of my tomato Basil soup for lunch and had an ice cream bar for dessert. Then I took my used ink cartridges to the library  to donate.

Then I went on to Bunco at the senior center. There were only seven of us that showed up but we still had a good time. One couple bought prizes for the game and we were not aware of that. Community State Bank had been providing some  money for prizes after thy bought out the Condon Bank. They recently gave that up. This couple bought three lovely decorative pillows and donated them for most Buncos, most wins and most losses. That was so nice of them! Mine had lovely birds on it! I had the most wins so I got to choose my pillow. We each did! Karan had the most Buncos and Darlene had the most losses.

This is the pillow I chose:

Vic brought me a sack of Porter peaches while I was gone to Bunco. They aren't quite ripe so he called later after I was home to tell me to leave them out on the counter for a day or two to let them ripen better. That was awfully nice of him. Earlier this year he had brought me strawberries. I fixed them and shared those with Maureen and Marilyn.

If these work out well, I will share them too.

I took my bath after the CBS news went off. I watched that and Channel 6 news on my notebook since the TV antenna was not working well the the picture was tearing.

Then Missy and I watched a couple of episodes of old Perry Mason TV shows. At 9:00 I went to bed and I am pretty sure Missy will be along shortly.

Tuesday and Hair Day

I slept terrible last night and woke up several times during the night. I probably went to bed too early. Finally, I got up at 4:00AM...I simply could not sleep any later. I got myself ready for the day and fed Missy and myself.

I turned on the Channel 6 news and will try to catch the CBS news later. It comes on at 8:00AM. As soon as daylight comes, I will try to take Missy out for awhile. Right now she has given up trying to get me to take her out. It's only 6:10AM so it's still pretty dark out there but is getting lighter.

The weather is very mild. It is 64 degrees right now and this is the 31st of July. Unusual is the only word for it. Channel 6 says it won't last and will get hot again.

I have a hair appointment at 11:30AM this morning. Toni is working toward getting me a standing appointment at 9:00AM or thereabouts. But it will take awhile.

I took Missy out for awhile but she seemed to find it too chilly and wanted to come back in. So...she's back on my bed..napping.

Now the CBS news is on and I will watch it now. More later...

After the news, I cleaned the apartment and then went to my hair appointment. After that, I came home and ate some tomato basil soup with cheese crackers. I had a small ice cream bar afterward for dessert.

Then  took Missy out on the patio for awhile. She really enjoyed that and behaved herself too.

I printed out Marilyn's flight printout and took it over to her. She is going to Salt Lake City in September to see her new granddaughter.

I read all afternoon and finished my book. It was John Grisham's "Camino Island". It was interesting.

Then I came home and attempted to watch the CBS evening news but the picture just continued to tear. I can watch it by streaming it in the morning.  In about an hour I will take my bath and put my PJs on and watch a program or two on Amazon Prime. Then Missy and I will go to bed at 9:00PM.

Monday and Exercises

I slept pretty well last night. I did wake up at 1:30 when I heard a loud noise. The apartment next door is empty so I knew it had to be my apartment. I got up with my flashlight and looked everywhere for the source of the noise but I couldn't find a thing so I went beck to bed and back to sleep. I got up close to 5:00AM, my regular time.

After I got myself ready for the day and fed myself and Missy, she wanted to go outside. As soon as it got light out I took her out but that stray cat was out there again and she was hissing and spitting at him so I brought her back in.

I watched the news until time to go to exercise class.

After exercise class I stopped over to the Dollar General store and bought more litter and some plastic zip lock bags before coming home.

When I got home, I took Missy out again and this time the stray cat was gone so I worked on my flowerbeds and Missy stayed right around where I was and I had no trouble with her. We finally came back in when she wanted to get something to eat and some water.

I called Nancy then and visited with her on the phone.   She is feeling much better and we made a date for Friday to visit and have lunch. She gets her hair done Friday morning so I will leave for Caney right after exercise class. We will probably eat at Eggbert's in Caney.

More later...

I had the other half of my sandwich from yesterday for my lunch then went to the store to get a birthday card for Jaime's 8th birthday and stamps to send it off with.  Then I came back home. The rain was beginning again. I ate one of my ice cream bars for a dessert.

This evening Missy and I watched an episode or two of 48 hours. At 8:30, I was very tired and Missy and I went on to bed.

Sunday and Coffeecake

I got up fairly early...shortly before 5:00AM but I had slept pretty well. I got myself ready for church and fed myself and Missy. She wanted to go outside but it is raining and storming again this morning and it's still dark out at 6:25 so she is in on my bed napping.

I have the coffeecake in the oven already so when it comes out and cools, I will ice it with a glaze made of oleo powdered sugar and milk. It is my turn to drive this morning and I will call Phyllis at 8:00 and tell her I will be driving.

I don't know where we will have lunch today. It's been awhile since we've been to "Just Us". Last week 15 of us went to Great China. Before that we went to El Publito.

More later....

The coffee cake is out  of the oven now and cooling on a rack. When it is cool, I will put the glaze on it. I just texted Bob and also Rick and Carmen. I hope Rick and Carmen can get to church this morning. It is still raining hard.

I will get back to this later...

I just noticed a new photo of my newest great grandchild, Gracyn, and Ginger, my daughter-in-law. How cute!

Image may contain: 2 people, including Ginger McGuire Miller, people smiling, outdoor

She is really growing up fast! Look at that smile!

We had a guest at church today and everyone went to welcome him. I got him to sign the guest book and offered to send him the newsletter by snail mail. He gave me his address so I sent him the Sunday newsletter by snail mail.

Our backpack party is on Saturday this week at 6:30. We are to take snack foods for that evening.

We fill backpacks to take to the Caney, Kansas  elementary school for kids whose folks cannot afford a backpack and school supplies. Last year we sent 65 backpacks with basic school supplies.

More later....

I took some coffeecake and yogurt over to Marilyn this afternoon and stayed and visited awhile. She is having tooth sensitivity.

But now it's 8:40PM and I simply cannot stay up any longer. Missy and I watched a couple of episodes of Big Bang Theory  but I can hardly keep my eyes open so I am going to bed. Missy will probably follow me in awhile.
