Saturday and House Cleaning

I will clean the apartment today. I believe it has been a week since I last did that and I like to clean once a week to keep it shining.

I opened the front door earlier but there were no cats out there... at least not yet. I will check again soon. I had one cup of Chai Latte and am working on my second. I also had a breakfast bar. I finished it.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" .Today is to be 39 degrees and AM rain and snow. Tomorrow is to be 49 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be  59 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 57 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 57 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 59 degrees and partly cloudy and Friday is to be 59 degrees and mostly cloudy. That's the week, One day of rain that's today.

I called Sally and picked her up to go eat at Gabbies downtown and   we had lunch there. Joyce (Gabbie) had baked an apple pie and after we had our lunch, ( a roast beef sandwich with chips and a Coke) she served us a piece of it with ice cream on top of it. Needless to say, it was very good!

Then I took Sally home and came back home to read in the library book I had checked out here in Caney's library. 

I took my bath at nearly 7:00PM and put on my pajamas and went back to my book afterward.

I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM or so. I never did get the apartment cleaned today. Perhaps tomorrow afternoon. 

Friday and Laundry

 I slept well last night and was up shortly before 5:00AM. I fixed myself some Chai Latte and a breakfast bar and saw the grey cat out the front door looking for his/her breakfast. I took it out to it. It ate the dry cat food but didn't have much interest in the wet the others prefer.

After it left, I brought the cat food into the kitchen again. I didn't want to lose another dish.  If another cat shows up I will take it back out to that one. Recently the others haven't come much...for some reason.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" though.

Today is to be 46 degrees and AM fog and PM clouds, tomorrow is to be 40 degrees and cloudy, Sunday is to be 50 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 57 degrees and sunny, Tuesday is to be 59 degrees and  sunny, Wednesday is to be 50 degrees and partly cloudy, and  Thursday is to be 55 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the week...no rain but warmer weather.

What do you know! Blondie finally showed up for his breakfast! I had not seen him in days. I took the breakfast out to him and he is eating it now!

The city of Caney did get the bad water leak repaired yesterday afternoon. They also went up to Independence and bought water for us to have free of charge. I will see about getting some again today.  I have only two bottles left for drinking.

The cats dish I left out front for Blondie and the other two cats to eat from, was gone when I went out to move the trash receptacles back to the house.  I looked to the west of the house and found it just around the corner. Thank goodness! I have bought cat dishes three times and one is gone already. I left both out yesterday when I went to Independence to meet Gay. They were still there when I got home and I took them in then.  But when Blondie left this morning one of those two bowls was gone. I found one right around the corner and brought it in. So I only lost one.

I got the laundry done and put away. One less job to worry with this week.

Thursday and Lunch with Gay

 I slept well last night and was up just before 5:00AM. I made my bed and got myself ready for the day.  I had my two cups of Chai Latte and a breakfast bar and opened the door to find no cats waiting at all. It's 37 degrees out there. 

I did catch "the weather on the 8's". Today is to be 48 degrees and AM fog and PM clouds. Tomorrow is to be 49 degrees and PM showers,  Saturday is to be 39 degrees and  AM showers, Sunday is to be 51 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 57 degrees  and sunny, Tuesday is to be 62 degrees and sunny, Wednesday is to be 57 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the week! Two days of rain...Friday and Saturday and the weather a lot warmer for January It's 37 degrees right now so we have a ways to go before we can enjoy warmer weather. It's only January 25th. 

I called the city when I got home yesterday afternoon to see if they had got their leak repaired and they hadn't so we had no water in Caney. They had a major leak. As though living in a community with no water available from the Caney river isn't enough. Now they had a major water line break and we don't  have any water at all. I poured a pitcher of water which came from my hot water tank and used that to give myself a sponge bath before I went to bed last night 

On top of that, the water we do have when we have any at all, is very expensive. My last water and trash bill was $120. Caney is a disaster zone. We have to buy bottled drinking water if we want to make Chai Latte or just to have a drink of water.  They did tell me yesterday evening when I called that they are buying bottled water from Independence (now that they have the major water line break) and will have some for us today. We will see! Somehow I doubt that. Everyone will be making a trip to city hall and with a run on bottled water from the city, they will undoubtedly run out quickly. I have two bottles left of that I bought last weekend in Independence.

I will be meeting Gay, my lifelong friend, in Independence at 11:00AM this morning for lunch at a restaurant that used to be called Anna Mays... but I think she must have sold it because the last time I was in Independence I noticed the name Anna Mays was no longer on the sign. Someone else must be running it now.

We met at the former Ana Mae's at Independence and had a BLT sandwich and iced tea. We had a good visit too.

The bank in Coffeyville called me when I got home and told me my checks had come in and I told them I would come this afternoon and pick them up.   Now I had better do that.

I called the bank back and told them I would just pick up the checks on Wednesday when I will be over there for an appointment anyhow. They said that would be fine..that will save me a trip.

I called Caney City Hall this morning and they got the water line repaired last night. So we have water again. Thank Goodness. I can get a decent bath tonight instead of a sponge bath.

I read until 7:00PM and then took my bath (with warm water) and will read until 9:00PM or until I finish this book I am reading.

When I do that, I will return it to the Coffeyville library Wednesday when I go to get my hair done in Coffeyville.

In the meantime I will read awhile more.

 

 

Wednesday and Game Day

I was up at 5:ooAM this morning as usual. I slept well though. I have checked for cats a couple of times but so far, none have come for their breakfast.

I have had mine. Two cups of Chai Latte and a breakfast bar. That's plenty of breakfast for me.

I did check on "the weather on the 8's" and finally saw it. 

Today will be 46 degrees and AM fog and PM clouds.  tomorrow is to be 50 degrees and AM showers, Friday is to be 51 degrees and PM showers, Saturday is to be 41 degrees and rain, Sunday is to be 48 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 56 degrees and sunny, and Tuesday is to be 56 degrees and mostly sunny. That's three days of rain...which we really need. Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

I will go to Coffeyville this morning to get my hair done and then stay for the afternoon after lunch and attend game day at the senior center.

I will stop at Eggbert's at lunch time and have their fruit parfait. I really like that for lunch and Coffeyville's Eggbert's is the only Eggbert's that has it on their menu.

The little grey cat was the only one that came to eat breakfast today. It ate and left. The others may have found some sort of  shelter. I havn't seen anything of the others in days.

It's 6:27AM now and I will leave for Coffeyville at 8:30AM. I should be able to reach Coffeyville by 9:00AM..in time for my hair appointment. After that, I will stop by the Coffeyville library and check out a couple of books. The Caney library is closed a lot in this weather. Luckily I get over to Coffeyville every Wednesday for my hair appointment.

Tuesday and More Bad Weather

I slept well last night after my fall yesterday. I have had no after effects. I have never had a headache and I still haven't had one... I am so thankful for Leslie who took me to Coffeyville to Urgent Care and Stephen, my landlord, who reads my blog and he came over this morning and asked me if I still had some of the ice melt he gave me last year. I had forgotten about it and wasn't sure if I could find it if I looked. I opened the garage door and we went in to try to find it. We only had one snow last year so there should be plenty left. Stephen found it! It was under a plastic bag of packing peanuts. He made sure I could get it open and we put it somewhere obvious where I could find it if I needed to. 

I am so grateful for caring people. I don't feel so alone. I am thankful I have Leslie near at times like yesterday and nice caring landlords like Stephen and his wife, Dee Anna who keep track of me by reading my blog.

I did catch "the weather on the 8's" this morning and also the little grey cat came for it's breakfast today. I fed it and then caught the weather forecast for the week. It is 33 degrees today and mostly cloudy.tomorrow will be 44 degrees and PM showers, Wednesday will be 45 degrees and cloudy, Thursday is to be 49 degrees and cloudy, Friday is to be 54 degrees and PM light rain, Saturday is to be 45 degrees and AM rain, Sunday is to be 46 degrees and mostly sunny. and Monday is to be 54 degrees and mostly sunny. That's the rest of the week! At least three days of rain. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday! Actually, we didn't get rain today after all. At least not yet..

More Later...

I called Sally and asked her to go down to Copan Restaurant with me and she agreed. I picked her up at noon and we had our usual cup of vegetable beef soup and we split a piece of  German Chocolate pie.

After that, I took her home and came back home myself. I read awhile this afternoon. It's 5:05PM now and at 7:00PM I will take my bath. I've got awhile.

The weather didn't turn out to be too bad after all.

 

Monday and Ice

 I slept well last night and was up at 5:00AM as usual. I checked for cats twice but it's 28 degrees out there and they are sheltered somewhere (I hope). I did catch "the weather on the 8's".

Today is to be 39 degrees and ice to rain, tomorrow is to be 45 degrees and PM showers,  Wednesday is to be 44 degrees and cloudy, Thursday is to be 50 degrees and cloudy, Friday is to be 51 degrees and showers, Saturday is to be 48 degrees and showers and Sunday is ts be 46 degrees and partly cloudy. That's the week. It looks like four days of rain which we can certainly use.

I had two cups of Chai Latte and a breakfast bar for my breakfast.

And I have been watching "Good Morning America" on TV. It's now 31 degrees and still raining. The little white cat came for it's breakfast and I took it out to it. It ate some but now it is lying by the open front door. I imagine it gets some warmth out of the window next to the inside.

I went to the mailbox to check the.mail and on the way down the driveway, I slipped on the ice and went down hard and hit my head on the driveway.  I came in the house and called Leslie. She asked if I was hurt and I said I didn't think so and then she asked if I was bleeding and I told her I didn't think so but I got a washcloth and put it on my head and looked in the mirror. I was bleeding and the blood was running down the back of my neck and down my shirt in the back. She said I should go to the Urgent Care and she would come get me and take me there. 

I called to see if they were open since it had been raining and the rain was freezing. As soon as she could get here, she loaded me up in the vehicle and we drove over to Urgent Care. They got me in quickly and the woman who runs Urgent Care checked the site on my head. She said I had a large bump on my head and suggested I should go to the Emergency Room and have a brain scan. We drove out to the hospital and I registered. When I got back to the room to be examined, the nurse gave me an ice pack to put on it and told me there were two ambulances waiting with people who had fallen on the ice. We went to the waiting room and sat for a long time. 

Finally I told Leslie I was not going to wait while two ambulances had priority and the waiting room was also full of folks that were there before us and they had been waiting a long time too.   

I signed a release and we left and went to Arby's and had lunch. It was 4:00PM by then and we were both hungry and so was John. She called him and he gave an order there too. 

We ate and then  Leslie pulled around close to the door and I hung onto the car until I got in. She brought me home and took John's lunch and went back home too. 

I don't have a headache and feel fine. I have no additional symptoms.  Hopefully everything will be fine. 

I wonder how Toni will wash my hair on Wednesday when I go over there for my hair appointment.

I will worry about that on Wednesday.

I just took my bath at 7:15PM. I have put my pajamas on and am prepared to go to bed around 9:00PM. I put a hand towel on my pillow and will hope my head won't bleed on it. If it does, it won't hurt the hand towel. I will do some more laundry in the morning. I have the rest of my laundry to do again anyhow. 

It's been a day!

Sunday and a Trip to the Fort Scott Area

 It's 6:21 AM now and I am getting ready to leave for Leslie's home. She and Karan and I will be going to Nevada for the day for a church event. I need to leave in thirty minutes to get there by 7:30AM.  

I opened the front door and once again the little grey cat was here for it's breakfast. So I set it's food out there and it's eating..

I waited until daylight to start to drive to Leslie's and then we picked up Karan and Leslie drove us to Johnna's in Neodesha and then to the Fort Scott area for the service.  

We had a very good service and a fine dinner after that. Then Leslie  drove us home. I got back to Caney about 5:00PM. 

Sure enough...the one cat dish I left out for some of the other cats to eat from was gone. I will have to buy another one tomorrow to replace it. I looked over the yard but this time it was nowhere to be found. 

I watched the Mission Center's service on Zoom this evening.

Now it's almost  7:00PM and I am ready to take my bath. It has been a huge day and I am very tired.
