I woke up again at 12:30 AM and went to the bathroom and took my med. Then I went back to bed but couldn't get back to sleep again. I waited an hour then got up and took the last of my Zzzquil. Then I slept until nearly 7:00AM.
I got up and got myself ready for the day and fed Missy and myself. I have been giving her a small dish of cut up soft Friskies fish cat food lately and since she can get that down without losing it, that has worked. First I give her her treats and then the soft cat food in tiny bits and then I grind up her Iams in my pecan grinder and put that in her regular food dish,. So far, so good. She has kept that down for over a week. With so few teeth, she simply cannot handle the Iams unless I grind it smaller. Raising an old cat takes some ingenuity. I don't want to have her put down as long as she is not in pain. She sleeps a lot. She wanted to go out this morning but it's 18 degrees out there and I know she can't handle that much cold (and neither can I). I let her out just long enough for her to see for herself that it's much too cold out there. She came back in grudgingly...but she did come back in on her own speed.
I have watched the news and texted Bob to see how he slept. He and Joanne are going to the parade at 10:30. It's her idea. He is not wild about the idea but he is humoring her. I told him to bundle up well. He catches cold easily.
I don't know what I will do today. I have caught up on my reading and it's too cold to go out. I am nearly out of milk but don't want to buy milk because we leave Monday for Tulsa for our flight out to Phoenix...by way of Denver. I don't know why we couldn't have had a straight through flight but Keith is paying for it so I am sure this is the way he has to arrange it since we have to fly United. I will stay with Keith and Esther and Leslie and John will stay in a hotel, if I have that all right.
I am anxious to see Keith and Esther and their home. In the past few years they have made some major redecorating on the house to suit their tastes. Esther's brother has helped with that since he is a very fine carpenter. And Keith and Esther are going to take us sight seeing while we are there. One place they want to take us is to Sadona. I hope it's warmer there then it is here. I will take a jacket or perhaps my new coat. I have never worn it yet. I bought it for the Alaskan cruise but it was too warm in June to need it.
I may go to the library and get another book to read for today. I could take back the one I got and read for the Library's Book Club.
I did go to Bartlesville this morning and I had a 50% off coupon for Goodys and I finally found a purse I like and got a bargain.
I also bought gas there at Miller Brothers for $2.18 a gallon. It cost me $21.00 to fill my tank and they pump it for you!
Leslie called me when I was on my way home and I was sitting in the Sonic parking lot. I had ordered a child's chicken strip dinner from their menu and that came with tator tots and a small coke. She told me her plan for Thanksgiving week and also our plan for Phoenix this next week. Then Keith called too and he told me about their plans for us when we get there in Phoenix on Monday. I was on my way back to Coffeyville so I pulled off the road to talk to him. He told me that John and Leslie were going to rent a car and find their way to their place with Leslie's GPS.
When I got home, I dumped out my flowers into trash bags and put them in the trash container over behind Marilyn's apartment. The frost last night had got them. They were truly done! I let Missy out for awhile but it was only 25 degrees and she didn't want out for long. She went to the carport door and wanted back in the nice warm apartment. I let her back in.
More later...
This evening, at 6:00PM, I will go to Karan's for the group video viewing and discussion afterward. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
More later...
It went very well. I guess I am back in the group. It looks like a very interesting DVD. I am to have the group on my birthday December 2nd. I am not quite sure how to get to the number 2 on my TV to watch a video now that I have the Tivo hooked up to my television set. I will have to discuss that with Keith and Esther this week. We had a very good discussion tonight . It is Phyllis Tickle and a group discussion about her book, "The Great Emergence". There are five episodes on this video.
I got home about 9:00PM and took my bath and Missy and I stayed up until 10:00PM before we went on to bed. I needed to wind down.

Friday and Lunch with Gretchen, Judy and Karan
I slept fairly well last night. I went to bed at 9:00 PM. At 10:30PM, I woke up and went to the bathroom and took my med. An hour later I got up again and took some Zzquil. Then I slept until 6:00AM.
I have watched the Tulsa and CBS news and then I went to the market.
I am to have lunch with Karan and Gretchen today but they want to eat chili at the senior center. So even though I've had chili twice in the past two days, Karan is determined to eat lunch at the senior center...so I will eat chili again. I was outvoted. I went on to town to meet them at the store where we had met and lo and behold they had decided to eat tomato soup and sandwiches at The Mercantile.
Anyhow I went to the market earlier and bought a few more things. I want to take a roast to the basket dinner on Sunday so I bought one and some potatoes and carrots. I will cook it in my slow cooker. I also got some chocolate icing for the cake I will bake tomorrow and put in the freezer at church or at Bob's apartment in his freezer on Saturday afternoon.
Bob came and picked up his coffee this morning. I had ordered it from Amazon. He is to get it once a month without any freight charges and it is a nice variety. If he doesn't need it once a month I will take it on the alternate months or we can split the order. Getting it regularly every other month from Amazon gives us a nice discount and no freight charges.
The girls and I met at The Mercantile at 11:30AM and we had lunch there. Then we went to the senior center and made our $2.00 donation and had a cinnamon roll for dessert.
Judy invited me to join them there at Karan's tomorrow evening at 6:00PM and watch the first episode of the video that Karan bought featuring Phyllis Tickle and "The Great Emergence". I guess I will go.
I am waiting for the mail now. It's almost 2:00PM now and ordinarily the mail comes at 2:00PM.
So, more later...
The mail came and with it, my Reporter newspaper. I read that and did the crossword puzzle. Then I took the paper over to Marilyn's house. Around 5:00PM I turned on the news. After that, I watched some Amazon Prime TV. I have gone back, at least temporarily, to watching "Crime Stories".
At 7:00PM, I took my bath and Missy and I watched some more "Crime Stories" on Amazon. I fell asleep during that program and woke up at 9:00PM and turned off the TV and went on to bed. Missy soon joined me.

Thursday and Another Short Night
Missy and I had gone to bed at 9:00PM as usual and I slept fitfully for most of the night...off and on asleep...awake at 11:30PM and again at 2:00AM. I finally just got up at 4:00AM. I had taken melatonin but it didn't work all that well.
Today is a free day. Nothing much is going on. Tomorrow at noon, Karan, Gretchen and I will have lunch. Judy invited herself to the lunch too. Saturday I will bake my cake for next Tuesday and see if Bob will take them to Independence on Tuesday to the First Christian Church. I will ask him to put my cake in his freezer until Tuesday.
Sunday, we have a basket dinner too and afterward we will pack our Samaritan Christmas Child boxes. I will need to get a roast at Country Mart for Sunday's basket dinner. I will fix it in my slow cooker with onions and potatoes.
I don't have a plan for today. So, I will go feed Missy and myself and get myself ready for the day.
More later...
I finished my book this afternoon. It was very interesting and the author is Phyllis Tickle and the book is called "The Great Emergence".
She explains in this book that every 500 years, religion makes some drastic changes and she tells about those changes. The last 500 year change was around 1517 and was called "The Great Reformation" when Martin Luther nailed his theses to the church door.
In 1054 the next 500 year change was called "The Great Schism" and that was when Christianity divided into the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches.
500 years prior to that was around 540 when Pope Gregory the Great called the Council of Chalcedon to decide, among other things, if Mary was to be called The Mother of God and the Monastics were born and the church ruled from monasteries and nunneries and at that time the Dark Ages were born.
That move saved the Christian Church
The next 500 year span back was when Christianity was born.
So she says the church is enter another 500 year period and the new emerging church is beginning to be born.
But not only Christianity was affected by these cycles of change but all the world's religions were also affected by these 500 year cycles. When a Christian speaker talks to a Jewish audience about 500 year cycles, almost always some good rabbi will point out that much the same sort of scheme appertains to Judaism. Of late an Islamic scholar or two has begun to argue that the same kind of cycling can be discerned in that faith's history.
It was not until 1948 that a name was assigned to those centuries of tumultuous transition.A German scholar, Karl Jaspers applied the name "the Axial Age" to it and the name stuck until 2006. In 2006, Karen Armstrong. a scholar of great distinction gave it the title "The Great Transformation." Her term seems to have stuck.
Anyhow, it has been a very interesting book.

Missy and I laid down on the sofa about 5:00PM and watched the news and later some more of the Amazon Prime TV until 9:00PM when we went on to bed.

Wednesday and Another Zzquil Sleep
I slept well until midnight when I woke up and could not get back to sleep. At 2:00AM, I got up and took some Zzquil. Then I slept until after 6:00AM. I hate to take a sleep aid but I need my sleep so I broke down and took it.
I got up and made the bed and also dressed and got myself ready for the day. I fed Missy and myself.
I have been watching the news. I am glad the Democrats won some seats in the house but unfortunately they lost some seats in the Senate. So the fights will continue. Kansas won big though with the defeat of our present governor. A Democrat woman won that seat. Thank God! Maybe she can expand Medicaid in Kansas. It has been tough on the poor in Kansas as long as Brownback was governor. His successor was just as bad.
It's nearly 8:00AM now and I need to get off the computer for now. Tapping on the keys aggravates right arm. More later....
I read my book for a while and then ran some errands. I had a quick lunch of the chicken and broccoli casserole and then went on to Bunco We had a good time. I won the prize for the most Buncos (four). There were only four of us but it was fun anyhow.
I came home and opened the mail. I got two newspapers and some spam. I threw it in the trash.
Cyndi is supposed to be here at 4:30PM and it is 4:10PM now. She will be along shortly. ...to vacuum for me. The right arm is better now but still pretty sore.
More later....
Cyndi came and vacuumed for me at 4:30PM. The right arm was still pretty sore. I had avoided using the computer most of the day and that seems to help.
At 7:00PM I took my bath and laid down with Missy on the sofa to watch another episode of my downloaded video of Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers' famous PBS program, "The Power of Myth". I fell asleep on the sofa part way through it and when I woke up it was 9:00PM and I turned off the TV and Missy and I went on to bed.

Tuesday and Election Day
I slept fairly well last night. I woke up at 4:00AM and couldn't get back to sleep so just got up and dressed and got ready for the day. I fed Missy and myself and am watching the news now.
We are forecast for a hard freeze later this week. If I have time I will dump out my container flowers before the weather gets them.
I will be so glad when this election is over. The only TV stations I can get are Oklahoma stations and that is a particularly nasty campaign. There are so many negative ads and experts tell us they actually work. That doesn't say a lot for our society. My policy is to vote for no one who uses them. I would rather study the issues and vote for the one whose political philosophy I agree with.
I will vote here in Kansas as soon as the polls open at 7:00AM. Then I will get my hair done at 9:00AM. Otherwise, I don't have a plan for today. I may run the vacuum. Missy sheds terribly and I usually get a huge wad of cat hair even though I vacuum every week..sometimes twice a week.
More later....
I got the large bag of old minutes and bank statements out and when I went to vote I took them to Doug Mund, who was the CMA vice president. I then got my hair done and by the time I finished that, the bank was open and I could check to see if those three checks had cleared the bank. Only the $30.00 check for Lisa Barron had cleared the bank. The other two are still outstanding.
A further mystery is the bank bag with the check book in it. I cannot find it anywhere. I last had it in the den when I made my final financial report to the former alliance members. I copied the amount of the two larger checks into my report. I assumed it was still in the den since I could not get that bank bag into the bag all those records were in. I searched the den and then I searched the entire apartment. I could never find it. I even searched my car. It wasn't there either. It has simply disappeared. Surely it will turn up somewhere in the apartment. Where else could it be? It's a mystery!
There should be nothing in the account after those two checks clear. Wherever that bank bag is...that's where the checkbook is too. Strange....
I didn't vacuum after all. My right arm is very sore today. I don't want to aggravate it. I read most of the afternoon. I received a new book in the mail.
I also made some notes for the library's Book Club meeting later in the month. I had read the book several weeks ago and that will help refresh my memory.
I began watching the election results until later this evening when I changed to the Amazon Prime. After the episode of "The Power of Myth" , I changed back to the election results but Missy and I went on to bed at 9:00. I was just too tired. It appeared the Democrats would win the house and lose ground in the senate.

Monday and a Sleepless Night
Missy and I went to bed about 9:00PM last night and I went straight to sleep...until 12:30AM. Then I woke up and could not get back to sleep. At 1:30AM, I got up and went to the bathroom and took my med and melatonin and went back to bed. I lay there until 2:30AM when I got up and took some Zzzquil to get to sleep. It didn't work. At 3:15AM, I just got up. My right shoulder was hurting again but since I had taken the Zzzquil, I didn't feel that I should take Aleve too. I had way too much on my mind that I couldn't seem to turn off.
Last week, I had thought we were having our church basket dinner this Sunday so I had thawed out some chicken to fix in my slow cooker. I bought the rest of the ingredients at the market so... with the thawed chicken, I was committed. I will fix that for my lunch today and cook some broccoli to go with it.
I had also thawed out some ground beef for chili. I will go ahead and fix that for the rest of the week. I have the ingredients for that except for the onion. I will get that today at Country Mart.
The basket dinner is next Sunday and I guess I will buy a roast to fix for that. We leave the very next Monday morning on the 12th for our flight to Phoenix to visit Keith and Esther so any leftovers will have to go home with Bob A for him and Joanne. He will also take care of Missy for me while I am gone.
I will also have to bake my cake for the First Christian Church on that same Sunday morning and put it in the freezer at church. Bob will have to get that and his, Phyllis,' and Karan's cakes and take the those cakes up to the First Christian Church by himself the next day on Tuesday.
Then I began thinking about Thanksgiving. My granddaughter, Christina, and her family are coming for Thanksgiving and so are my eldest son and his wife. Keith and Esther will stay with me. My granddaughter and her husband and two children will stay in a motel since I am in a small apartment. I don't know how long they will be here either. So, I don't know about meals. I need to call her today and find out what their plan is. I ended up e-mailing her. Maybe she will answer me this evening.
I no longer cook much so I will need to get some breakfast things for Keith and Esther. That's no problem. I plan on eggs and bacon and biscuits for their breakfasts. I eat oatmeal. I will fix some beef stew for lunch at least one day ...perhaps two. I don't eat supper...except for yogurt.... so I don't know about their supper. But I still have hamburger patties and buns in the freezer so I could do hamburgers and french fries for at least one supper and perhaps tomato basil soup with crackers and cheese for another. I have made reservations for 9 of us at "Just Us" for Thanksgiving dinner. Leslie and John will join the family there too. Leslie is on call that weekend so her holiday is up for grabs. If she is called out, she may not get dinner that day.
All this I have been mulling over in my mind. That's why I can't sleep.
More later...It's almost 4:00AM now and I am going back to bed. Maybe since I have vented here, I will be able to get some sleep.
More later...
I got right back to sleep...finally... and I slept until 6:00AM when Missy woke me up. She wants her breakfast. Darn cat! I will probably have to have a nap today for sure.
Bob called accidentally just a moment ago. He meant to text me. We visited briefly. He just wanted to tell me it's raining outside.
I'll finish my makeup and then feed Missy. Back again later...
I got all that done and am watching the news on CBS now. The mid term election tomorrow should be interesting. I always vote and I certainly hope others holding my opinions will vote too.
It's 8:22AM now and the chicken is in the slow cooker and when it is finished I will make the chili. That should take care of my meals this week.
I am going to do some laundry this morning too. I have just enough in my basket for a load. So, more later.......
I got the laundry into the dryer just in time for Missy to pee on another bathmat. A little while ago, she was gagging and I thought she might vomit again. I took her outside for awhile but she got it under control....she must have got whatever she was gagging on, down. It didn't come up...thank goodness. A couple of weeks ago I spent $60.00 having the carpet professionally cleaned and a week later, she vomited on it again. I cleaned that up myself with Resolve.
It's 11:15 now and I don't know whether my lunch in the slow cooker is finished or not. I guess the only way to find out is to open it and see if it's finished. I think I got it in there by 8:00AM....or maybe it was 8:20AM. I don't recall. So, more later...
I ate some of my chicken and broccoli about 12:30PM and then made up my chili for tomorrow. I will have a bowl tomorrow with crackers and cheese. I may then give it away to Bob and Joanne after saving one more bowl. I usually make it with stewed tomatoes and I thought I had bought two cans when I went to Walmart over the weekend. But I had one can of tomato sauce and one of stewed tomatoes. Unfortunately, I opened the tomato sauce by mistake so I went ahead and used the tomato sauce in it.
I was reading this book Karan had borrowed and read and then gave back to me and ran onto mention of "The Power of Myth". I had seen the entire series on PBS when Bob was in his training in Tulsa for his chaplaincy back in the 80's. He stayed down there at the hospital 13 weeks where he was getting the training during the week and came home on the weekends. We watched it on Sunday evenings I believe. It was on PBS. I decided to download it on my Amazon Prime this afternoon. It cost me $11.95 but I watched the first episode again and it was terrific. I will the watch the entire series in the evenings instead of watching murders on Crime Stories. Maybe I will sleep better.
More later....
I took my bath and at 7:00PM and Missy and I watched a couple of episodes of "The Power of Myth". At 9:00PM, we went on to bed.

Sunday and Church
I slept fairly well last night considering the time change. I woke up at 12:30AM but managed to get back to sleep. I woke up at 4:20AM again (usually it would have been 5:20AM) and just got up. I went around the apartment and turned all the remaining clocks back an hour. Maybe my body will eventually accept the new time.
I got myself dressed and ready for the day, cleaned out Missy's litter box and cleaned up the litter she had tracked onto the bathroom floor and then came in to check my bank account and begin this blog.
It's 5:15AM in the new time now so I will go get Missy's breakfast and my oatmeal and eat and then I will need to get the Church school class coffeecake mixed up and in the oven.
So I will get back to this after that. More later....
I have fed Missy and myself and mixed up and baked the coffeecake. I iced it after it cooled.
I took Missy out briefly but it was too cold and she was willing to come back in without an argument. She did complain to me, hissing and spitting, like it was my fault it was so cold out there. It's now 45 degrees but it was even colder earlier this morning. It is 8:10AM now and I have called Phyllis and told her I would pick her up at 9:00AM and I will also pick up Bob. I have my offering check made out and the bill for the tires in my purse. Leslie wants to pay on it.
I don't know where we will eat lunch. Maybe it will be "Just Us". It has been a couple of weeks since we have been there. I'll have to check with the others.
The midterm election will be on Tuesday. I will go vote, of course. I will also take the bag of documents and notebooks from the Ministerial Alliance out there to Doug, He says he has room at his church to store it. I certainly don't. I have left that bag full of documents and notebooks in the trunk of my car until now. It is temporarily in my living room closet but there certainly is not room to store it there permanently. I am glad Doug can take it.
I went to the bank before I picked Bob up and took out $20.00. I also wrote my church check. I took Leslie's advice and cut it back $5.00 a week. She said I was paying too much tithe. I was running out of money before my next social security came in so I guess she was right.
More later...
After church we ate lunch at "Just Us" and they were packed! I had not remembered to call for a reservation and they only had one small table for the three of us. That worked out however and we had a good nutritious lunch.
When I took Bob back to Sycamore landing and took Phyllis home, I came back and did the newsletters and got them in the e-mail. I sent out two this week by snail mail. One to Chris and one to Billie Jo. Chris said he did not get his last week. I can't imagine why. I sent out four in snail mail last week.
I took Missy out for awhile this afternoon after I finished the newsletters. It is still only 48 degrees at 3:12 PM and she was ready to come in when I was done sweeping up the leaves. That's a little chilly for a couple of old babes!
More even later...
I read my book until time for the CBS news and then watched that. Later, following 60 Minutes, I took my bath and Missy and I watched some Amazon Prime until bedtime. We went to bed at 9:00PM.
