Friday and Another Exhausting Night

I woke up at 2:00AM and that was the last of my sleep. I could not get back to sleep. Finally, at 4:00AM, I just got up. It was futile to try to sleep any longer. Yesterday was such a frustrating day. Today I will get last minute stuff taken care of before I leave in the morning for camp. I will go into Joplin and look around at Christopher and Banks. I don't need a thing but if they have any great bargains, I may buy something.

Then I will go on to Olive Garden and have lunch. registration begins at 2:00 Saturday afternoon. This year I have no responsibilities so I hope to have a good camp experience. It will be hot! Luckily the dining hall is air conditioned and so are the cabins. I will stay in a cabin by myself. The lodge is just too noisy. People stay up laughing and carrying on at all hours.

Leslie will be bringing my little great granddaughter girls for the first time. So with Sage and the two little girls, Leslie should have her hands full. I will try to help her keep track of them.

More later...It is 5:00AM now and I want to get my breakfast. Missy has had hers.

Missy and I went outside after I had my breakfast and it was still fairly cool out. I watered my flowers and cleaned them out.

Emmett showed up n time and got that hole filled under my bathroom cabinet. I was sure happy about that.

After he left I went out to Walmart and then went to lunch and also bought Bob's birthday gift.

When I got home I read awhile and also planned the offering part of Sunday's service. Crossroads is in charge.

I also checked my bank account. I had planned to ask Leslie to hold my check until after the 11th but discovered that Keith and Esther had sent me a deposit!  So I won't have to worry about that.  My kids are so good to me!

I am watching the news now. I will probably go to bed early. I was up at 4:00AM this morning.

More later...

After I ate my yogurt, Missy and I watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers" and then went to bed at 9:00PM.  I was very tired! I will pack tomorrow.

Thursday and a Lunch with Gay

I slept well considering all the noise. And even though I got up twice last night, I managed to get back to sleep until 5:00AM, my regular rising time.

I had an e-mail from one of the widows of a deceased classmate and she reminded me that another of my classmates had passed away this week. I saw the obit but forgot to send it out to the classmates. I was glad she reminded me. I am class locator for my class of 1953 and  I keep track of all that as well as I can. I also send out a class newsletter in the week between Christmas and New Years. My classmates keep me supplied with the money for two rolls of stamps and two ink cartridges. I provide the paper and envelopes. There are 128 of us left and we have lost at least 138.  I have lost track of 27 classmates over the years.

I need to get my breakfast and I will get back to this later...

I've had my breakfast and even taken Missy out while I watered my flowers. She got ornery though so I made her come back in.  She is unhappy about that.

It's 10:05 and Emmett still has not yet come. I have left a note on the door for him. I will leave in 30 minutes for Chanute. I will leave the door unlocked so he can get in and get his job finished. He will have to lock it when he is finished. I hate to do that but I am tried of waiting around for plumbers and  maintenance men. I will be gone for another week for camp starting on Saturday and I cannot just reschedule his job any way he might want. I still have all that stuff from under the sink laying on the daybed in the den. I only hope he cleans up the bathroom after himself. I spent some time cleaning up a mess after the plumber. I raised my family to "if you make the mess, you clean it up".

More later...

Emmett never came! He never brought Carmen the carpet cleaner either. She took the day off to clean the carpet. I still have that gaping hole under my bathroom sink and I am leaving Saturday morning for camp. I will be gone a week.

I have tried to call Betty on both her phones and got the answering machines on both.  She has gone to the lake and has no signal there.

It is 3:05 now and I don't know whether Emmett will ever make it today. How aggravating!

More later....

Emmett dropped the carpet cleaner by at 5:00. He had had an "emergency" at 5:00AM today and worked on that all day. Carmen had just gone to rent a machine at Dollar General. Luckily I was able to get hold of Rick and he got to Dollar General just in time to get her to return it. I was really angry and I told him Emmett was leaving Saturday morning for camp and would be gone a week. Friday was the only day I would be there to let him in for a week. He said he would come at 10:00AM in the morning. We will see.

I lay with Missy on the sofa after I finished my yogurt this evening and we watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers" before Missy and I went to bed at 9:00PM.What an exhausting day!

Wednesday and the 4th of July and Exercises.

I slept pretty well last night and finally got up at my regular time...5:00AM.

Kay had asked the exercise class on Monday how many of us wanted to come to exercise class if she would come and open the door. Most of the class said they wanted to come so she will open up the senior center at 8:30 for exercise class. I will go.

I fed myself and Missy this morning and took her outside while it was still relatively cool. She really enjoys that. I came back in in time to watch the CBS news.

I will clean after exercise class since tomorrow seems to be a full day.

I went in the bathroom to make up my face this morning and discovered that all that sawing, etc, yesterday had caused a deluge of dust all over everything even inside my makeup drawer, So I had a huge mess to wash up. I had to take everything out of my makeup drawer and wipe everything down even the contents of the drawer. I will run the swifter mop in there in a bit. That floor is filthy too. Plumbers do not clean up after themselves. Disgusting!

I did the kitchen and bathroom floors before exercise class. They are dry and clean now.

The news will be on in less then ten minutes. More later...

I watched the news until time for exercises and then when I got home from that, I vacuumed the entire apartment.  I had a large four inch wad of cat hair in the canister afterward. I dumped that in the trash. It's amazing how much that cat sheds.

Now, all I have to do is dust.

I am not sure what I will have for lunch. I have plenty in the freezer. I just have to make a choice. It's only 11:00 now.

Well, I had my lunch and read for awhile in the afternoon.

At 5:00PM I turned on the news and after that, I watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers"  before getting ready for bed. At 9:00, Missy and I will go to bed.

And then the fireworks began. It went on indefinitely. Sometime, out of sheer exhaustion, I went to sleep.

Tuesday and Hair Day

I slept pretty well last night. I woke up twice but after going to the bathroom to take my med and cleaning up Missy's litter box, I got back to sleep and slept until 5:00AM....my regular wake up time.

I have fed Missy already and have myself ready for the day.

I have to be in Independence at 7:30 to have my color touched up. Kathy missed part of the back and will redo that this morning. I will drop by Juanita's and pick up my calculator. I left it there last week when I balanced her check book. Then, if they are open, I will stop by the Merle Norman place and buy some mascara. Mine is pretty well gone.

The plumbers are to be here at 8:30 to put the Y in the drain under my sink in the bathroom and Bob will come over and let them in. I will get back home as quickly as I can.  They will also have to get into the apartment next door. Carmen is to leave a key.

I took everything out from under the sink here last evening.

More later...I had better get my breakfast now.

I ate my breakfast and then took Missy out while I watered my flowers. When I got back from Independence, the plumber was here. he worked until 12:00 or so and finally finished the job. I went over to Marilyn's and worked on her computer and also got Cox to tune it up. Now it works much faster.

Marilyn and I went to lunch at the Kansas Buffet and when I got home I tried to patch that hole with a piece of cardboard but it was just too irregularly shaped. I texted Betty about it and asked when Emmett could come repair the hole. I told her I would be gone from the7th until the 13th to camp

I am full now. Lunch was good..

Betty finally got back with me and told me Emmet would be here on Thursday to patch the hole under my bathroom sink. I am to go to Chanute on Thursday to meet with Gay and a friend or two at Opie's. I don't know how early Emmet will be but maybe I can find out from Betty later today. I hate to cancel my date with Gay but I may have to do that.

Later this evening I watched the movie "Chappaquiddick". It was, of course, about the crisis Ted Kennedy caused by leaving the scene of an accident where he drove his car off a narrow bridge and he escaped the water drowning but he left Mary Jo to die in that car.  It was interesting to see how easy it often is for a rich person to escape the law. He didn't report the accident until 9 hours after it happened. He was sentenced to two years...suspended sentence. ..and that was for leaving the scene of the accident.

At 9:00, Missy and I went to bed.

Monday and Exercises

I had a bad night. My legs ached and feet cramped and so when I got up to go to the bathroom at 3:30AM, I took my thyroid med and also an Aleve.  That helped but I still got up at 4:00AM.

I went on to exercise class after I watered my flowers and let Missy out for awhile with me while it was still relatively cool.

Afterward, I paid my rent at the bank and went to buy some yogurt at Brahms to eat for supper until I leave Saturday for camp. That reminds me, I need to make a list for packing. Maybe I should do that while I am thinking about it. So, more later...

I got my list made and printed off and then went over to Stan's so he could work over my hearing aid. He put new filters in it and cleaned it all up. Then I came home and made up some lunch.  I had Schwan's chicken and rice with broccoli. Pretty good for frozen food! Then I had one of my ice cream bars for dessert.

This afternoon, I may run the sweeper. I never did finish my apartment last week. So more even later...

I did go to Walmart and get a few important things this morning too but I did not get the vacuuming finished.  Missy was asleep on my bed all afternoon. More later...it is time for the news.

After the news I watched a couple of episodes of "Cheers" and then just turned off the TV. It's almost 8:00 and I need to stay up until the kids next door bring me their key. The plumbers will be here in the morning and Bob will be here to let them in and they will need to get into the apartment next door too to fix the plumbing.  Rick and Carmen are moving into their house this evening.  I will need to leave them a note before I can go to bed. I got up at 4:00AM this morning  so I hope I can do that. Missy has been in on my bed most of the day. I am a little concerned about her. She usually comes in to watch TV with me in the evening. I hope this isn't a bad sign.

Sunday and Church and a Cookout

I slept fairly well last night. I did get up at 4:00AM but that's not all that unusual when I go to bed at 9:00PM. Scott called last evening to tell me about a movie he had watched and recommended to me. I forget the name right now as I am having a senior moment. That happens a lot anymore.

Missy is in on my bed napping again. That old cat sleeps most of the time.

I got myself and Missy ready for the day. I fed myself and her and got dressed for church...wearing jeans because as soon as the service is over, we will go out to my kids' for the cookout. I didn't want to wear my good clothes for that.

I have read the paper and done the crossword puzzle.

It's 7:40AM now and I will call Phyllis at 8:00AM to tell her I will drive. Bob is picking up Joanne at 10:15 and they may want to leave the cookout sooner then Phyllis and me. So I decided to drive.

I worked over my potato salad this morning. It was just too bland. I added some more pickles and mustard. It's better now.

When I get home from the cookout, I will do the newsletters I send out to those who miss church.

More later...

We had a very good service and a nice crowd. Then we all went out to John and Leslie's and had the cookout with a lot of great food. After those who wanted to swim were finished, Leslie served the homemade ice cream. It was delicious! Everyone came out there and Rick and Carmen even brought four guests.

Rick and Carmen will be moving on Tuesday. I will miss them as my neighbors. I haven't a clue who will move in next door next.

There will be no local serves next Sunday since many of us will be at our family camp. I will leave a sign on the door in case someone comes to go to church.

I got the newsletter finished and ready for the mailman tomorrow. The others went out in e-mail. I think everyone had a great time.

It's almost time for 60 Minutes and if I can get reception, I want to watch that.

So, more later....

I watched 60 Minutes and then I took my bath and Missy and I watched "I Can Only Imagine" on Amazon Prime. After that, we both went to bed.
