Saturday and Heating the Apartment

I slept pretty well last night. I woke up a couple of times but got right back to sleep. I had had a big day with my trip to Chanute and my visit with Gay and Adele and their friend Mary.

Today I need to go to the library and get a regular book. My Kindle has no access to new books I haven't read yet...at least no detective stories. I went through dozens of them last evening and I had read everything I had access to. 

I woke up cold this morning and put the furnace on. I set it on 75 degrees. That took the chill off. 

I will fix my breakfast now. .And check on the cats

When I finish my breakfast I will go turn on the TV and see if the weather forecast has changed any.  I saw it briefly last evening and it appeared they had taken rain out of Tuesday morning's forecast. I believe it was still in Wednesdays though.

There is a football game between Ohio State and Michigan State this afternoon at 3:00PM.

I finally caught the weather forecast.Today will be 68 degrees and AM cloudy, Tomorrow will be 79 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday will be 84 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday will be 80 degrees and AM showers, Wednesday is forecast for 79 degrees and  scattered thunderstorms, Thursday is forecast for 71 degrees and sunny and Friday 75 degrees and sunny. I hope the rain stays in the forecast and I hope it develops.

Both cats came for breakfast this morning. They ate quickly and left. I will take the food back in the garage in a bit. I am watching CBS morning news now.

I put the cat food back in the garage and covered it again. Both cats were gone .

It's 7:57AM and I am later for my walk. I usually start at 7:00AM.  But I have been picking up leaves in the back yard and putting them in a grocery bag.

I got back from my walk at 8:29AM..later then usual. It's pretty chilly out there so I wore my jacket.

Friday and Vacuuming

I woke time and again in the night but always managed to get back to sleep. I finally got up a little after 5:00AM as usual. The last time I woke up it was my phone and that was spam and I just deleted it. 

I put off vacuuming all day yesterday so I will do it this morning after I get back from my walk. I will need to go to the market this morning too and get milk and oatmeal and Kleenex. I am nearly out of all of that. About 6:30AM I will check on the cats  It's 5:57AM now. I guess I will go turn on the TV and check the weather forecast after I finish eating my oatmeal..

Sometime this next week, I would also like to wash my windows..especially the outsides. It has been at least two years since I have done that and I can sure tell it.

Blondie was out there waiting for his breakfast. But I didn't see Scruff. I fed Blondie and then came back in the house just in time to catch the weather forecast.

Today is to be 71 degrees and sunny, tomorrow is to be 69 degrees and partly cloudy. Sunday is to be 81 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday is to be 81 degrees and AM showers, Wednesday is to be 84 degrees and scattered thunderstorms, Thursday will be 73 and mostly sunny. I sure hope we get that rain this week. At least it's still in the forecast. And it's supposed to be cooler too.

I took my walk at 7:17AM and got back home at 7:38AM. After I rest awhile I will start my vacuuming. I will watch the news while I rest.

I got the bedroom, hall and den vacuumed and I will rest a few minutes before starting the living room and dining room. 

It's 9:03AM now and I just finished vacuuming the living room and dining room and emptied the sweeper and put it away.

Now I will just rest. The Kindle is being charged now so I cannot read.

I guess I will go to the market and get the few things I need.

After thinking about it, I remember we are under water rationing here in Caney so I shouldn't wash the windows until we get Spring rains.

I called Gay my friend of many years and I am going up to Chanute to have lunch with her and her sister, Adele, at 11:30AM. I will also  go by the Merle Norman store and buy some mascara.

We were having a nice visit and one of Gay's friends came and joined us.For awhile she dominated the conversation talking about her new great grandchild. Finally I think she realized that and backed off a little. I didn't have as good a visit with Gay and Adele but there wasn't a lot we could do about it under the circumstances.

I got back home about 3:15PM. Afterward I went out and cleaned up the leaves in the back yard..again. I took highway 400 and it was a much shorter and faster trip. There wasn't near as much traffic that way. Gay bought lunch for Adele and me. That was good of her...especially under the circumstances. I had driven almost 60 miles to visit with Adele and her.

A little past 6:30PM, both cats came for their supper. They didn't eat a lot so I assumed they had either had birds for lunch or someone else fed them.  Blondie was here this morning for breakfast but Scruff didn't come. She started to later on but I was ready to leave for Chanute and she changed her mind when she saw me come out wearing a coat. Strange...

At 7:00PM, I took my bath and put my pajamas and duster on and prepared to read until my bedtime at 9:00PM.

Thursday and Apartment Cleaning

I slept fitfully last night. Some news item came onto my phone and woke me up. So I tossed and turned the rest of the night and finally just got up before 5:00AM.  I made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. I will stay home today and clean the apartment. At 7:00AM I will take my walk. But it's only 5:45AM now. I will go turn on the TV and catch the weather forecast. I have had my breakfast, read the Chronicle and passed it on to Dean and the family. 

I caught the weather channel.Today is to be 85 degrees and sunny, Friday is to be 71 degrees and partly cloudy,  Saturday is to be 68 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 77 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is forecast to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy, Tuesday 81 degrees and AM showers, Wednesday is to be 84 degrees and thunderstorms....Hooray! Rain forecast at last!! It's only 6:28AM, about 7:00AM, I will take my walk and then start my weekly cleaning.

No cats yet!!  Scruff came but I didn't see Blondie at all. I fed her and after she got her fill, I took the food back into the garage and covered it again.

I got away for my walk a little later then usual. It was almost 7:30AM when I left and I got back at 7:51AM. I did have to wear my jacket today though.

Still no Blondie. Soon I will start my mopping.

I got the mopping done and will start vacuuming as soon as I rest awhile. I used the last of my wet swifters so I will have to buy more before I clean next Thursday.

I have been reading this afternoon and it's 1:05PM now. I finished the book though and am having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for my lunch. I thought about going out to Eggbert's and having lunch but I had done that on Monday. So I just made myself a sandwich instead. There's plenty of protein in peanut butter..

I have been reading another new book on my Kindle and watching the CBS news. 

More Later....It's 6:31PM now. I think I will take my bath and put my pajamas on and my duster. I am awfully tired.Probably because I didn't sleep all that well last night. After I take my bath I will go back to my book until bedtime. I will vacuum the apartment tomorrow. I don't have any other plan for tomorrow.

Wednesday and a Hair Appointment and Bunco

I slept very well last night..only waking up once and taking my meds then and went right back to sleep. I was up at my usual 5:00AM, made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day.

This will be a busy day too. I have my hair appointment at 9:00AM, will go to the library or the senior center to read after that and at 1:00PM, will play Bunco at the senior center until 3:00PM or 3:30PM.... however long David will stay to play. He manages the game and usually provides the money for the winners. Halfway though the games, we will have our treats. I may visit with Marilyn afterward for awhile. It depends on how she feels. She has a bad back problem and is 89 years old. She has been coming to the games because the senior center has a wheelchair and we always got it out for her. Janet, always has a pillow to put in it to give her back some support.

It is 5:46AM now and I will go fix my breakfast.

I have had my breakfast now and it's 6:09AM and I will go watch the weather report on TV and watch for the cats to come for their breakfast. I will take my walk at 7:00AM and leave for Coffeyville and my hair appointment at 8:30AM.

I got to the living room just in time to see Scruff outside waiting for her breakfast so I took her breakfast out there and found Blondie waiting too by then. I fed them and when I got back in the living room the weather was just coming on the TV.

So today is to be 87 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday is to be 85 degrees and mostly sunny, Friday is to be 73 degrees and mostly sunny, Saturday will be 72 degrees and partly cloudy, Sunday is to be 77 degrees and partly cloudy, Monday is to be 82 degrees and PM showers! Tuesday is to be 82 degrees and partly cloudy. There is a good chance of rain on Monday!  I hope that develops!

Both cats ate quickly and left so I put the cat food back in the garage and covered it.

It's 6:30AM now and at 7:00AM I plan to take my walk. It should be getting light by then.

I took my ten block walk this morning at 7:00AM and it was very pleasant. I didn't even need a jacket or a sweater. It's 7:30AM now so it took me about 25 minutes...walking briskly.

I watched the news and then left for Coffeyville at 8:30AM. 

I stopped at my bank and  cashed Dean's check. He sent me a check for $50.00 and told me to treat some of my friends with lunch. I bought a medium cherry limeade slush at Sonic and then went on to the beauty shop and got my hair colored and cut. I went out to Woodshed to buy gas but all their pumps had bags over them. Evidently they were altogether out of gasoline. So I didn't buy gas after all. I really didn't need it. I had just bought some in Dewey on Monday. 

We played Bunco until 3:00PM, settled up with those who won and I gave Marilyn my leftover cinnamon rolls. She can have them with her coffee. Marilyn didn't need the wheelchair or the pillow for her back this time. She may be doing better.

I decided not to have the Wacky Pack this Wednesday. I had plenty of treats at Bunco. I am full.

I went out back later this afternoon and picked up the leaves that had fallen from my neighbor's trees and into my yard and bagged them up into a grocery sack.

Suzanne brought over a lot of Reporter and Bartlesville Examiner Enterprises newspapers and I have been reading them and bagging them up to take to Karan who will donate them to the animal shelter there in Coffeyville.

It is 6:22PM now and I think I will go take my bath even though it is early and put my pajamas and duster on and read until my 9:00PM bedtime. 

Tuesday and Cookies for the First Christian Church

I slept well again last night after such a busy day. I was up at my usual 5:00AM but feel well rested. I have made my bed and dressed and am having my breakfast now. About 9:00AM I will go over to our church and pick up the cookies folks have taken there and take them to Independence to their First Christian Church. I will first go to the grocery store across the street from the church and buy my cookies for their dinner. I get a 5% discount if I do that on Tuesdays and another nice break if I take my own plastic bag. 

It's 6:02AM now and I will go turn on the weather and check that out as usual.

I caught the weather forecast finally.Tuesday (today) will be 87 degrees and mostly sunny, Wednesday 88 degrees and partly cloudy, Thursday 87 degrees and sunny, Friday 71 degrees and mostly sunny, and Saturday 69 degrees and mostly sunny, Sunday 70 degrees and partly cloudy, and Monday 81 degrees and partly cloudy. Again, no rain but a little cooler weather.

So more later...

I took my walk at 7:05AM and got back home at 7:29AM. It's a nice cool morning and it went fast. 

I will leave about 8:30AM to go get the cookies at our church and take them up to Independence and get mine while I am there.

I got the cookie situation taken care of for another week. I also went out to our market and bought my treat for Bunco tomorrow. So I am ready for that too.

I had a peanut and butter sandwich for my lunch and then I put away the dry laundry..

Now I have been raking leaves in the front yard. It's too hot to finish that today. I will go out in awhile and try to bag up what I have already raked. 

So more later. I got most of the raked leaves put in the yard bag but the bag was too flimsy to hold onto the rack. So I gave up until I can get some of those better stronger bags.

More even later...I will go back to my book now. It is 2:48PM now. 

Stephen came and mowed after his work and I decided to mow the back yard too. It was full of leaves. I had raked most of the front.That was one way of getting rid of them. 

What didn't get in the mower, I picked up and put in a grocery bag like I do a couple of times a week, The bending is good exercise for me.

Now it's 7:15PM and I am ready to take my bath, to put my pajamas on and my duster, and read until 9:00PM...my bedtime.

Monday and a Trip to See Nancy

I slept well last night and was up at my usual 5:00AM. I have made my bed and dressed and got myself ready for the day. 

This will be a little different day. Sally's van is still laid up with some kind of broken belt and so when I go to visit Nancy, I will pick Sally up at 8:00AM and take her to Bartlesville to the YMCA at 9:00AM where she works part time. Then I will go get my car washed and vacuumed out and stop at the Dollar General store there and get paper towels, and then about 10:00AM, I will go get Nancy up and have her get dressed and we will visit awhile and then go pick up Sally at 11:30AM and the three of us will go back to Caney and have lunch at Eggbert's. Then after lunch I will take Sally home and take Nancy by to see what the realtor has had done about those weeds in the back/east side of her house. That house is not going to sell for what they are asking for it ....not in Caney, Kansas.

It will be a busy day. I am hoping Sally will get her van towed home today and get it in a shop here in Caney to get it repaired so she will have transportation. I don't know which days she works there at the YMCA in Bartlesville but I will find out because she needs to get her van repaired so she can get to work those days. Maybe Josh can give her a loaner. Or she may want to buy another car. She mentioned that yesterday. That van has been nothing but trouble for her.

After I take Sally home and Nancy by to see her house, we will go back to Bartlesville to take Nancy back to assisted living there. 

Now I will fix my breakfast and coffee and Chai Latte. It's 5:38AM now.

In another hour the cats will be by for their breakfast. I probably won't be able to take my walk this morning at 7:00AM since I need to pick Sally up at 8:00AM.

I caught "the weather on the 8's" right away.

No rain in the forecast and just cooler weather.

I don't see any cats yet this morning.

The cats finally came and I fed them and after they finished, I took the cat food into the garage and covered it.

I went to get Sally at 8:00AM and took her to Bartlesville to the YMCA where she works three days a week..Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Then I went to get Nancy (who as usual was still in bed)  and got her up and she dressed. Then we went to get Sally at 11:30AM. Sally only works from 9:00AM until 11:30AM when she works those three days. 

From there we went to Caney to see Nancy's house and have lunch at Eggbert's. Afterward we took Sally by a place nearby where she could get a man to tow her car and that man has several friends who have used car lots and Sally wants to buy a different car. She learned that the man who put the new belt on the van and put oil in the motor saw that oil draining out on the ground. Evidently the motor was cracked. The van is not going to be worth saving.

I balanced my checkbook again.

Tomorrow I will go to the church and get the cookies that should be in the frig there and then take them up to the Independence Christian Church where they will use them as a light dessert after their Tuesday evening supper.  Then I will come back home and probably do some laundry.

I will read some more this  afternoon.

More even later... I read until the Kindle needed charging and then I put it and my phone on charging. It's 7:42 PM now and I will not go to bed until at least 9:00PM.

I have had my bath and have my pajamas on and my duster.

I will copy my blog on to Keith's blog. Then I will play a game until time to go to bed.

Sunday and Church

I slept well last night. I was really pretty exhausted.  It had been a huge day! Actually it had been a huge weekend. It's 6:08AM now and I was up at 5:00AM as usual. In a little bit I will fix my breakfast and coffee and check out the weather report for today and the next week. By them the cats may be out there hungry. They didn't get any food from me on Saturday and they may be ravished.

So other week with no rain but mostly mild and a little cooler.

I am putting my jacket on and beginning my walk.  It's just beginning to get light at 7:03AM now. 

I got back from my walk at 7:30AM. I plan to leave for the church at 9:30AM this morning. I try to sweep out the bugs that come in under the door and sweep off the walks before everyone else comes. The service starts at 11:00AM. We have not resumed church school classes yet. Those are usually held at 9:30AM.

I went to the bank first when I got to Coffeyville and withdrew $50.00 from my checking account  to pay for my hair on Wednesday. Then I went on out to church and did what cleaning I needed to do. There wasn't much because it had been cleaned on Thursday by our new cleaning lady.

Leslie had a good service although there weren't many there this time. 

We are planning to begin to offer a free breakfast after the third Sunday of October. Leslie is going to make up some signs to announce that new development with signs on the two roads CR3900 and CR2600... adjoining our church. That will be served at 10:00AM on Sunday mornings. I will take my coffee cake each Sunday. It always goes over well.

I have been reading most of the afternoon. I took a pitcher of water out and watered one of my flowers. They are struggling to stay well and blooming. We haven't had any rain in weeks...or very little at least. Once last week I went out to feed the cats and found the sidewalk damp but it was barely sprinkling that morning...nothing at all since.

It's 5:53 now and I will try to log on to the Mission Center worship service but my camera is not working most of the time and neither is the microphone. And this camera is less then a month old. I ordered it off Amazon.

More even later...

I ordered another camera with microphone from Amazon just now.  The one I had was less then a couple of months old but the microphone stopped working first  and then the camera stopped working.That was the second one I had bought This one will be the third one.

It's almost time for my bath and I am recording 60 Minutes now so after I take my bath I will put my pajamas and duster on and watch the program and perhaps read some more until 9:00PM when I will go to bed.

 

Saturday and Back From Springfield

I got back from Springfield about 5:00PM Saturday evening. The conference was a good success and the food was very good. Friday evening the Mission Center bought the diners of the board members, including mine. We ate supper at an excellent restaurant right across the street for our motel..the Hilton. Leslie had to stop at the bank at a small town on the way Friday afternoon to get her name on the account there so she could pay the bills from that congregation of the church.

Then we went on to Springfield after that and got checked into our hotel. 

We were up bright and early Saturday morning, had breakfast there at the hotel and then went on to the church in Springfield to the conference for the business meeting. Leslie did a fine job with her report and everyone was quite impressed. The Mission Center President heaped praise on her.

We had a nice catered lunch at the conference and I managed to pay for it by outnumbering Leslie. :)

She had paid for everything else and driven us there.

As we were approaching Chetopa on our way home, Sally called me to invite me to split a steak with her and I accepted. I was to meet her at the Copan Restaurant at 6:00. I tried to call her later to suggest I just pick her up at 6:00PM and we would drive down there instead of taking both our vehicles. But she didn't pick up either her cell of the house phone, so at 5:45PM, I just went down to meet her there. But she wasn't there. I waited 15 minutes and finally she called me. She had made a trip to Coffeyville to pick up something she could only get there and on the way back, her van broke down at Tyro. She walked to a nearby house to see if she could get help and found that one of her former neighbors lived there now and he brought her to Copan to meet me..she called me from the parking lot to see if I was there and when she learned I was, she came in and we ordered the steak she had won. The neighbor said the problem with her car was a broken belt. After our dinner, I took her home to Caney.

She is hoping to ride down to Bartlesville with me on Monday. She works there at the YMCA part time and gets off at noon. I told her Nancy and I would pick her up at noon and take her back to Caney and eat at Eggbert's there together. Nancy can see Caney again and we will drive by her house so she can see that and I will take Sally home afterward.

It was a busy day...you can only imagine.

When I got home after my dinner with Sally, I unpacked and put everything away and took my bath and put my pajamas on and went to bed It was 9:00PM by that time .
