Saturday and Breakfast Out

Bob will be by about 7:20 to pick me up for breakfast at Sirloin Stockade. After that we will both go home until 9:15. We want to walk the mall in Bartlesville and eat at McCalister's there. I also want to go to the Merle Norman store and buy makeup and mascara.

Glen Perkins, an old friend from the church's webpage died yesterday. He had a guitar shop in Springfield Missouri for years. He and his wife, Kathy, moved to Florida after he retired.  Last fall he was diagnosed with 4th stage cancer. He was a musician and had a fine country voice. As a gift to his friends, he recorded a new CD last fall, while he still could. Then he sold them at $15.00 each and I bought one. The case was broken in shipment but the CD was fine. I told him about the broken case so he could pack others in a padded package. He sent me an autographed one as a gift. I play it almost every day. He wrote his own music. Before he died, while he still could, he wrote a song called "To Tell You Now". Someone posted a video of the CD on facebook and if you want to hear it you will find it here on U-Tube  https://youtu.be/NjjQb-Xjvkw.

I don't know how to bring it here.

We had our breakfast and are now getting ready to leave for Bartlesville for the morning. We will have lunch and then come back to Coffeyville.

More even later....

We walked the mall. Then I bought a pair of black slacks at Christopher and Banks and  a white top at Penney's. Then we had our lunch at McCalister's. After that, we came home and I took Bob to his home. He will come over later to church his bank account on his computer.

Bob came a little after 5:00 and we watched what news there was. There was nothing else worth watching after that and he went home early.  I then took my bath and Missy and I watched  Forensic Files until 9:00  and then we went to bed.

Friday Again.

It's unbelievable. The weeks just fly by!

I slept well last night and only woke up once. Then I got right back to sleep. I got up at 5:00AM.

Today, I may do a little laundry. I don't have much but I want to get it caught up before the weekend.

We will have hamburgers and french fries for lunch today and I still have pudding and cookies for dessert.  I like to have something on Friday that I don't have to keep over the weekend.

Bob and I will go to breakfast in the morning and then go to Bartlesville later in the morning. We will go to the mall and then eat lunch at McCalister's.   We both are just tired of staying in town. Let's face it, I'm bored.

Yesterday I registered for our World Conference at Independence, Missouri in June.  That's a ways away but I figured I'd better get that $140.00 in for registration while I had it.  I may not have it in June.

I have a kink in the groin of my left leg today. It's better then it was yesterday but it's still there.  Old age is not for sissies. If it doesn't go away this morning I will take an Aleve or two. It makes me limp.

More later...

I just had a cinnamon roll and coffee with a dozen friends at Utopia. My groin problem seems to have cleared up. That's good. I don't like to take meds. Every one of them has some kind of side effects.

My children are all senior citizens. I have a son 60 and one 55 and my daughter is 58. They sure don't seem like senior citizens. They are all very active and only my eldest son has a health problem. My younger son just recently found that he was considered a senior citizen when he got a discount at the movie theater :).

Bob just left. I texted Karan. She wants me to come sit with Bobby while she runs errands and goes to the grocery store.  I volunteered to do that. She needs a break.

More even later...

I stayed a couple of hours with Bobby and his brother, who came to visit with him.   He did fine. But he was happy to be home where he could have company. Karan seemed to appreciate my coming to help out.  No big deal! Besides,  I know she would do the same thing for me.

Bob came over a little after  5:00 and watched the news with me and read the paper. We always watch Brooks and Shields political commentary on PBS after that. He stayed until 7:00 and then went home. There's nothing really worth watching on Friday evenings. After my bath, Missy and I watched old "All in the Family" shows.  That was funny TV.

We went to bed at 9:00.

Thursday and Alliance Meeting

I will attend the Ministerial Alliance meeting at noon today. It's a lunch meeting. I used to be their secretary treasurer for years but had to give it up when I went back to work. Now that I am no longer working, I rejoined in November.

I slept fairly well last night. I had a hard time staying up until 9:00. I was very tired. I don't know why since all I did in the afternoon was to go to game day at the senior center.  I gave Bob the last piece of the lemon bars I made for the game day treats.

Today I will not fix lunch. I gave Bob a serving and a half of the hamburger pie and then gave the rest to Bobby and Karan. Tomorrow, we will have hamburgers and french fries. That's our unhealthy lunch.

I need to go to our Walmart today. I am getting quite a grocery list now.

Saturday we plan to go to Bartlesville and eat at McCalister's. Then we will walk the mall. We just want to get out of town for the day. I really don't care for winter with it's cold weather. In summer, I can tend my flower beds and flower pots. As soon as it warms up again,I want to take the blower and blow the leaves away from the east side of my apartment.  They pile up around the air conditioner as well as smother the grass on that side. I used to rake them up and bag them but I simply can't do that anymore. It's too labor intensive.

More later....

Scott, my younger son, posted this photo on his facebook page. Maybe it's the mirror they are going to use in their master bathroom. I'll have to check and see.

I'll add any new information I discover. Yes, it's the bathroom mirror.

I guess the outside of the house will look like this.

He said it was to be Mediterranean style.

Bob came over a little after 5:00 and stayed until 7:00. We had a bowl of black walnut ice cream he bought at Braums. It was delicious.

When he went home I took my bath and Missy and I watched old TV shows.

We went to bed at 9:00.

Wednesday and Lunch at Marilyn's

I slept really well last night. For one thing, I stayed up until 10:00 or shortly after. That seems to help a lot.

Today, Bob and I have been invited to Marilyn's for lunch. I still have the hamburger pie and it's covered in the frig. We will have it again on Friday. I have Ministerial Alliance meeting tomorrow and that is during lunchtime. Bob will be on his own for lunch. He says he still has chili in the freezer so maybe he will heat that up.

If we get away from Marilyn's in time, I will go on to Bunco at the senior center. I will make up my lemon bars this morning so I will be ready. If I can't go, that's o.k. too. Marilyn is more important.  We can always eat the lemon bars.

More later...

Well, I got the lemon bars finished except for the powered sugar on top.  Then I went to get gas. My yellow light was on indicating it was very low. Luckily the red light was not on yet. Gas out at Woodshed in South Coffeyville is $132.9 per gallon.   It took $14.00 for me to fill up.

When I got home, I saw Twitch run by the apartment. He was out of the fence across the street  He is a registered Boxer that belongs to my neighbor, David. I knocked on the door and the two young men that live there with David came out and I explained that Twitch was out of the fence. They came with me and we went calling and hunting for him.  About a half a block away we saw him and they whistled for him and I called him. When he was a just a puppy I played with him when David had him out in the yard. He was so cute and feisty.  The young men took him into the house. They will have to mend the hole in the fence. I've been wondering how long it would take Twitch to make it a little larger and get out.

At 11:30, we had lunch with Marilyn and Karan and Bobby today and then I went to play Bunco at the senior center. That was fun. I took a serving of the hamburger pie out and gave it to Bob and took the rest of it to Bobby and Karan. She had enough on her mind without having to cook too.

When Bob came over at 5:00 I gave him two photos of his that I had scanned. We watched TV until 7:00 and then he went home. Missy and I watched Nature, her favorite program, and then at 9:00, we went to bed.

Tuesday and Hairdo Day

I did not sleep all that well last night. I awoke at 3:00 AM and really never did get back to sleep. Finally after 4:00 AM I just got up.

In a few hours I will pick Bob up to go to Independence to get my hair done and also kill some time  looking around in the shops and at their Walmart before going to Big Cheese for our mini pizza.

Marilyn L called last night to invite Bob and me to lunch/dinner tomorrow. That is good of her. We will enjoy that. When I go to Ministerial Alliance on Thursday Bob will be on his own for lunch.  He has chili in his freezer that he can eat. Then Friday we will eat our hamburger pie again. We still have Bob's jello salad too and our pudding and cookies.

These are the windows in the bedroom of my younger son's new home. The house is coming right along.

Busy, busy, busy!

More later....

We went to Walmart in Independence and I bought some Dryel to dry clean my knit tops in the dryer. If you haven't tried that, you should. It keeps your knit tops from shrinking like they do when you wash and dry them. I have used it for years.  The initial kit comes with a large reusable cloth zipper bag. After that first time, you just buy the cleaning cloth refills. The refill includes a spray bottle of cleaner that I just spray on my underarm areas on each top, Then it has eight of those cleaner soaked cloths that you throw into the bag with the five or six tops and then you zip it up and throw it in the dryer for 15 minutes on medium heat.

Immediately hang everything on hangers and hang them up before they wrinkle.  A refill costs $9.95 and includes eight bag load treatments that will do five or six tops in each bag load.  I do my tops every winter to freshen them up. If I get a stain on any of them or even on a tablecloth, I use the spray and rub the spot with a white cloth. That takes out the stain. It's wonderful and it's cheap.

More even later...

Bob came over at 5:20 and stayed until 7:00. Missy and I stayed up to watch two shows on PBS including the American Experience, which is my favorite program. This program was about the assassination of President Garfield. I hadn't realized that much about him.

I went to bed shortly after 10:00.

Monday and Housecleaning Day

Today is the day I clean the apartment. I've had my oatmeal and orange juice for breakfast and am just enjoying my coffee while working on this blog. I slept well last night.

Today we will have hamburger pie for lunch/dinner. It will have green beans in it too. Bob will bring his orange jello salad with oranges in it. I  have pudding and cookies for dessert.

Tomorrow we will go to Independence for my hair appointment. We will spend some time looking around in their Walmart Superstore and at Goody's. At 11:00, we will go to Big Cheese and have our mini pizza.

Then we will come home and I will take Bob home. I will read and he may take a nap at his apartment. He is also reading a book that I loaned him. It's called "Lincoln Street" and it's a novel supposedly set in Coffeyville during the late 50's and 60's.  According to him, it mentions people and places we are familiar with since we grew up in that era. I graduated in '53 and he graduated in '52.

More later...

On checking my son's facebook page I found a new photo of the progress on their new home.

I assume this is the heating and air conditioning being installed.

And here's something else they're working on.

We finished our lunch...which was very good...and Bob went home after awhile...probably to take his nap. I read until my eyes got tired of reading. I thought I would check the facebook pages and then perhaps go out for a ride in the car. That's when I found Scott's latest photo..above.

I don't believe I need anything badly enough to go out to Walmart again today. We will probably go to the Superstore in Independence tomorrow. I do need some gasoline so I may drive out to South Coffeyville to buy the cheapest gas.  First I will check out the Sunshine Shop. Sometimes it's even cheaper.

It will be another week and two days before my social security comes in. I spent everything Keith sent me paying my electric bill. It was $40 higher then last month....almost $263.00. This apartment is total electric. Well, I am not moving. That's an expensive thing to do. When I moved here to the apartment I spent too much money. I bought all new window treatments and a microwave to go over the range. I brought my own range and frig. I bought a hair dryer to mount on the wall in the bathroom. Then the move itself cost me some money too. No, moving is not an option! I will just have to tough out the next couple of months before spring.

More later....

Bob came over a little after 5:00 and stayed to watch the news and an old episode of Big Bang Theory. When he left, I took my bath and sat with Missy until 9:00. Then I went to bed.

Sunday and a Busy Afternoon

I slept well last night even though I went to bed at 9:00. I have a time trying to stay up any longer. There was really nothing worth watching last night. So I watched Forensic Files.  Most were reruns.

I fed Missy this morning and checked my e-mail. I worked the crossword puzzle in the newspaper.  That's about all. Bob has the banana nut bread done for today's church school class.  My little great granddaughters just love the treat every week.

I will do the newsletters after lunch and then go out to Walmart and buy some groceries. I don't need much but what I do need is important so I will try not to buy anything not on my list. I need to figure out what to have for lunches next week. I think it's time for ground beef again. We just had tuna noodle casserole and chicken tenders. I used to plan a week of lunches but I have got out of the habit of doing that so now it's just a couple of meals at a time.

I checked my younger son's facebook page and found another photo of the view from his backyard.

I was a little concerned about flooding but he told me that was a 14 foot drop to the water.  So what a view!

My boys are really good about calling me almost every week. I really appreciate that.  I see my daughter every week at church. So I am happy we are all able to stay in touch.

More later...

Church was good!  I missed it but everyone told me it was good! I took a crying four year old into the all purpose room and read to him so his mom could enjoy the services.

Afterward, we ate at Sirloin Stockade and then I came home and did my Sunday newsletter. I am finished with that now and guess I'll go out to Walmart and buy a few things on my list.

More later...

I got my groceries and then read again after I got them put away.

About 5:00 Bob came over to watch 60 Minutes. He left at 7:00. I tried to watch TV after that but there simply wasn't anything worth watching so I finally just came in here to finish my blog.

By the way, today my daughter told me all 11 of the puppies are gone. They have all been adopted. The last Corgi will be delivered the 14th of February.
