Scott called me and visited with me for awhile this morning. That was a nice surprise. He chatted with me about their new house plans. they are very excited about it. It's 3100 square feet of home...two stories. When it is all finished (presumably in May) I will go down there for a week to see it. My daughter and her husband, John, are going down to see Scott and Ginger at the end of the month to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Right now Scott and Ginger live on St. Simons Island. The new home will be in Florida.
I went to breakfast with Bob first thing this morning and then decided on the spur of the moment to go into the library and make up some of the six hours I will miss next week while I'm in Independence, Missouri, at John Whitmer Historical Association meeting.
I had made up a half hour yesterday afternoon and decided I couldn't really afford to take the loss of six hours pay so went in at 9:00 this morning and worked until noon and I had already worked an extra thirty minutes yesterday. I will go in Monday and Tuesday at 9:00 and work an hour and then work a half hour on Wednesday. I leave for my trip Thursday morning. That will make up the entire six hours.
As I was picking up books that were not in the system this morning, it occurred to me that those missing books' bar codes were very random. There were probably twenty to thirty books on each sheet that Katie gave me taht were missing in the system but there were hundreds more that were not missed.
When I gave Katie the tablet after scanning an entire aisle since last November, all the bar codes scanned were on there. Furthermore, I saved every bar code at the end of each shelf and also at the end of each aisle. Then I put a card in the first book in the next aisle so I would find it when I resumed scanning again the next time. If I had skipped an aisle, every book's bar code in that aisle would be missing instead of just random books here and there. So it had to be either the scanner or a corrupted tablet. I suspect the tablet since all those bar codes were on that tablet when I shut it down and gave to to Katie. That's what she has decided too.
Bob will come over after awhile and we will go over to Braums and have an ice cream cone or a small milk shake. Neither of us is very hungry after such a big breakfast. I had a coke over at his apartment awhile ago. I was thirsty. Later this evening I will have my yogurt.

Friday and Two Hours of Work
I always enjoy my two hour Fridays. Today Bob and I are going to drive over to Cherryvale for lunch at "Just Us". That's always a treat. I love their rhubarb pie for dessert. He will drop me off at work and then come get me at 3:00.
I slept well last night and got up at 5:00. I just had two cups of coffee and a banana for my breakfast. I am tired of my cereal. Missy has been good and very patient about coming outside. She is lying here beside me on the carport on "her" mat.
It is supposed to rain today so I will take an umbrella with me to work.
It's nice and cool out this morning with just a light breeze.
Fred, my neighbor who lives in the house across the street where Bob first lived after he sold his home, has been out on his porch area this morning talking on his cell phone. He speaks very loud and anyone outside can hear every word he says. Marilyn R. says he and his wife argue at the top of their lungs from time to time. What a mess. This used to be such a nice quiet neighborhood. David, directly across the street, has his teenage son living with him and he is pretty quiet...seldom making any kind of noise.
I look forward to the weekends. I'll be so glad when I get my car paid off and I can quit working. I am ready to truly retire.... at almost 80 years old, it's time.
Bob came over briefly before leaving for his exercise class.
I need to walk down to the Dollar general store and buy a book package. I sold another book on Amazon. Now I have to go to the post office and get it sent to the buyer. Little by little I am getting rid of my books. I don't want my kids to have to deal with that after I'm gone.
And this is just one bookcase. I have another smaller one in the den.
More later... I rode up to Utopia with John and Marilyn R. I had coffee and a cinnamon roll since I only had a banana for breakfast. Bob met us there and brought me by the post office so I could send off the book and then dropped me off at home. He will be back at 11:30 for us to go to "Just Us" for lunch. I am to pick up a slice of rhubarb pie for Marilyn She too loves rhubarb pie. Bob will bring it by her apartment after he leaves me at work.
More even later...
We went to "Just Us" for lunch and it was very good. We brought Marilyn back a piece of pie.
I worked most of the two and a half hours I worked today looking for books Katie could not find in the system. Evidently, the tablet or scanner I used to scan all that fiction, was corrupted and did not record the bar codes. Katie actually asked me if I had "accidentally" skipped scanning some of the aisles or some of the bar codes. I assured her that I very conscientiously marked my place each day when I finished my day's scanning. I scanned everything. If those bar codes are not in the system, it's because the scanner or the tablet was corrupted. I am insulted she would even think such a thing. I worked my tail off doing all that inventory. I have half a notion to just quit.
Bob will be over shortly. He will stay until 7:00.

Thursday Thank Goodness
I slept poorly last night again. Finally I took a Benadryl capsule and got some more sleep. I got up shortly after 5:00, started my laundry and fixed my breakfast of a bowl of cereal and orange juice with coffee and fed Missy.
Now I need to get that laundry in the dryer.
Missy is reminding me that it's light out now and she's ready to go out. She's been patient.
We are having Chicken Parmesan with veggies and a salad for lunch today. I will make some pudding and I still have a few cookies.
Yesterday afternoon I spent the last hour and a half of my time at the library looking for books that are supposed to be out of the system but are still on the shelves. That took an hour and a half. What a mess!
More later....
Bob and I went to Bartlesville this morning to see his doctor there. He has a problem with Gerd and having to get rid of mucus. Lately, he has noticed an occasional pink color in it. I encouraged him to see the doctor there that treats that. So we made a trip to Bartlesville, 40 miles away, just to learn that Medicare will not pay for the treatment unless he is actually vomiting blood. What a mess! It would be nice to catch anything wrong early and not have to wait until care is urgent or at least be able to find out if there is a problem or not to put his mind to rest about it but I guess that is not possible.
Anyhow we got back home in time for me to make our lunch and for me to go to work.
Work was another nightmare. I put away several dozen DVDs and the fiction books and then Katie had four pages of "lost" books for me to find. By 4:45 I had two full basketfuls to give to her. I stayed an extra fifteen minutes to put away the DVDs that had accumulated while I was hunting down books. I got home at 5:15. I stopped at Braums to buy my yogurt for supper. I was very tired when I finally did get home.
I fixed myself some yogurt and a cup of Chi Latte and felt better. Bob came over at 6:00 and stayed until 7:00.
I stayed up until 9:30 and slept well.

Wednesday and Hump Day
I slept very well last night. I had stayed up until 10:00 and that helped. I am going to have to do that more often.
I got up at 5:30, had my breakfast, took Missy out at 7:00 and had my coffee and swept the leaves off the carport then came back in to blog. But first I cleaned the carpet on the rider's side of the car. It was stained. I think the cleaner got it cleaned. It is drying now.
We will have tuna noodle casserole with brussel sprouts and salad for lunch. We will have fruit and cookies for dessert. Marilyn R. brought us some homemade cookies this week so we have two different kinds.
Tomorrow I will strip my bed and do some more laundry. I will throw my underwear in too and perhaps my towel and wash cloth.
Katie was gone yesterday. She probably has to work on Saturday. They have to take a day off during the week if they work on Saturday. They are limited to a 40 hour week. Perhaps she will have another book list.
More later....
Our dinner was good. I gave some of it to Bob and some to Marilyn R. Tomorrow we will have Parmesan Chicken with a veggie and a salad. I will make some pudding for dessert. I may bake more cookies. I have been going through the ones I baked last week pretty fast.
Katie got to work late. She had a meeting first this afternoon. I got all the DVDs put away just as she came in and I asked about a list. She had two she had prepared on Monday. I bound up several batches of newspapers too. I stayed busy. Tomorrow is payday and I lost a day because of Labor Day. I made up an hour over the past two weeks. The church's rummage sale kept me from making up the whole day. I was needed there.
Bob came over last evening to watch some TV with me. We walked over to Braums and had a banana milk shake. Actually, it was just banana milk. The girl who waited on us did not get enough ice cream in it or she put too much milk in it. Needless to say, it was a disappointment.
Anyhow, he left shortly after 7:00 and I took my bath and later, at 9:00 went to bed.

Tuesday and Hair Day
Today I will pick Bob up and we will go to Independence for me to get my hair done and then we will do some browsing around town until 11:00 when we can go to Big Cheese and eat lunch. We have been doing that on Tuesdays and alternating Big Cheese and Great China. Once every three weeks I get my color done and Bob goes to visit his sister, Betty, who lives up there. Then we go to lunch. Of course, every other week we also take the cakes up there to the Christian Church. Marilyn told me yesterday that she would send a cake next week. That's wonderful! She's such a nice person.
In a little while, about 7:00, I will take Missy outside for awhile. Yesterday the wind blew something fierce and she did not want to stay out long.
My days seem all the same anymore. I will be so glad when I can quit working and just enjoy my retirement. I will work until September 30th 2016. Then this program runs out for me. I will have my four years in.. By then I will be 80 years old, going on 81. I hope my health holds up. I have remarkable health...so far.
This is my daughter's little Corgy dog, Mini. She brought her out to the church during the rummage sale on Saturday. She is so cute.
.
This my Missy hiding undercover.
More later...
I got my hair done and we ate at Big Cheese, It's always a great pizza and we drink Root Beer with it. We did some shopping for the church at their Wal Mart and dropped those two things of at church on our way home. Next week we plan to eat at Great China.
Now I need to get ready to go to work. I like to be there a little early and get a head start on those DVDs.
More even later....
The afternoon was huge again. Not only did I put away DVDs all afternoon but I also bundled old newspapers and put magazines in the rack and filed the old ones.
Bob came over when I got home. He stayed until 7:00.
I had come home exhausted but managed to stay awake for the American Experience PBS program on Walt Disney..the second half. Missy and I managed to tough it out.

Monday and Work Again
I slept really well last night. It must have been staying up later. Anyhow I awoke only once..at 4:00. I got back to sleep and woke up next at 5:00. Then I just got up and did my morning routine.
In a little while when it gets light, I will take Missy out on the carport. It's only 6:00 right now so it will be awhile. I had my last coffee cake and a banana with my orange juice and coffee.
For lunch today we are going to have taco burgers and tator tots with a Coke.....very unhealthy. :)
I have fruit and cookies for dessert.
I'll do some housework this morning. I didn't clean last week...I was so busy. I will do the kitchen and bathroom floors and clean in those rooms. I may even vacuum the carpets. It depends on the time. I will leave for work at 12:30. I like to go in a little early on Monday because of the vast amount of DVDs that are on that cabinet when I get in on Mondays.
Tomorrow we will go to Independence to get my hair done, do some shopping and eat at Big Cheese.
Wednesday I will strip my bed and do laundry.
More later....
Well, I got the apartment cleaned and did a load of laundry too. Then I fixed our lunch. That turned out well and I took some of it over to Marilyn R too. She seemed pleased.
Then I went to work! Talk about a mess! I spent most of the afternoon putting away DVDs and peeling green stickers off new fiction that was no long new. At 4:00, I began looking for books on two different lists that Katie gave to me on Friday. I found a basketful on the shelves. I worked until 5:25 and asked Katie in a note to put the extra half hour on my time sheet tomorrow. I had come in at 12:40 too. She was gone when I finished.
When I got home, I was really tired. I fed Missy and later Bob came over. Marilyn R brought us some cookies when she brought my dishes back from last week. We ate a couple of those and they were good.
When he left at 7:00, I took my bath and Missy and I sat in the recliner and watched the American Experience program on PBS about Walt Disney. I will finish watching the second half tonight. I was up until 10:00 and thought I would sleep well.
Ashley called last night and we talked awhile before the program began. It's always good to hear from Ashley. She has been calling every couple of weeks. I never hear from Jerod, her brother, but he's happily married and I understand.

A Very Busy Sunday
I started out this day with breakfast and it's probably a good thing I did. I baked the coffeecake for the congregation...actually my two little great granddaughters who look forward to it each Sunday morning.
I took Missy out on the carport a couple of times this morning to make up for being gone all Saturday at the church at that rummage sale. We ended up with $647.10 and there are still two people who owe money for their purchases. That was pretty good for a couple of days work.
Bob came over to read the paper before taking it over to Marilyn's mail box. Then we went on out to church since I was presiding this morning. I took the coffeecake and sure enough, the girls were counting on it.
We ate at Sirloin Stockade for lunch and then I came on home to do the congregational newsletters and get three of them out on the mailbox for pickup tomorrow. Now I have been working on my blog and posting on Facebook too. It's nearly 3:30 and we have Living the Questions group this evening at Joyce's house. I will pick up Gary at 6:45 after I leave Bob at Joyce's house.
Scott called yesterday morning and it was good to talk to him again. It had been awhile. He and Ginger are so busy. He likes his new job. That's good. They are to finalize the work on the house this next week. They are anxious to get started. It should be started the last of October and be finished in May.
I imagine Keith and Esther are still working on their house. I haven't heard much from Keith either. I see him and also Esther on Facebook. I also see Scott and Ginger on Facebook. That helps.
More later...I want to sweep out my car now.
I got my car cleaned up and then called Bob to see if he wanted to go out to Wal Mart with me. I need a few groceries for the coming week. He did. So we got what we needed and then he brought me home and I put them away.
I went after Gary at 6:45 and we went to Joyce's for our group meeting. We all enjoyed the DVD again..perhaps more the second time around. Several had not seen this DVD. Richard took the opportunity afterward to dominate the conversation with a completely different topic and so we did not have an opportunity for a discussion of the subject we had just watched. Bob and Gary and I were very disappointed. I don't know what to do other then to speak to him about it. He does that every so often when he attends. We still enjoyed the fellowship but to stay on topic, I will bring the printed material next time. We will meet in two weeks at Karan and Bobby's. Then two weeks after that at my place again. Two weeks later then that, we will meet at Marilyn's. Marilyn will be gone to Turkey and Greece during the period that I will host it again.
I stayed up until 10:00 just winding down. Then after my bath, I went to bed.
