This morning I will pick up Bob for breakfast at Sirloin Stockade. I got up about 4:30 this morning. I just couldn't sleep any longer.
I got dressed after making my bed and making up my face. Then Missy and I came in to the kitchen to get her breakfast. I am washing and drying her bathmat. She missed the litter box this morning but wet on the bathmat it sets on. I have the bath mat and her recliner afghan in the dryer now. If that's the worst thing she does as she gets older, I can live with that.
I am not sure what I will do today. It is supposed to be a beautiful day and I really hate to just stay home. I could get sandpaper and begin sanding that table I want to put in my kitchen under the window. I'll mull that over. I do need to vacuum my bedroom today. That's the one room I never got done this week.
More later...
Breakfast was good and I didn't eat anything else until 2:30 when Bob came by and we went to Arby's and split a roast beef sandwich and curly fries.
I have been reading this afternoon. Betty did get our lawn mowed though and he did a nice job too. I am happy about that. It was looking really rough after two weeks. I may have Bob bring his mower home from church so I can mow between Betty's nephew's mowing.
It's 6:30 and Bob hasn't come back again so maybe he isn't coming back this evening. I've had my Chai Latte and would like to take my bath.

Friday and Exercises
I slept fitfully last night. I awoke a couple of times but I had a hard time initially just getting to sleep. That's unusual for me. I usually can get to sleep pretty easily but it's staying asleep that's my usual problem. Anyhow, I got up shortly before 5:00 and got myself ready for the day.
I will go to exercise class this morning.
We will have a ham and potato casserole for lunch ..with a veggie and a salad. I will get some fruit for dessert or make pudding.
Later, I will try to get Bob's addresses programmed into his new phone. The tech didn't do that yesterday. I guess the only thing he did was just activate it. He didn't even set up the voice mail. If I can't manage it, he will have to go back to US Cellular and get Josh to do it.
Later this afternoon, I will go back up to the Boy's and Girls Club and see how the Cinco de Mayo celebration is going. I will leave them a PINCH brochure.
We went to Utopia after exercise class for coffee and a cinnamon roll. They are always good and they only have them twice a month on the first and third Fridays. I came right home afterward and started our lunch.
More later....
Fed X came awhile ago and I received more flowers...this time from Scott and Ginger. These are miniature roses and can be planted in the flowerbed John made for me when they finish blooming. They are so pretty! I love miniature roses. I had two bushes of them over on Catalina where I lived in my own home. They bloomed beautifully for ten years. When these finish blooming, I'll plant them.
My kids are so thoughtful! I am delighted!
Aren't they cute!! They came with that little picket fence holder and a flowerpot with peat moss and planting soil in it. I also got a deposit in my bank account from my eldest, Keith, and his wife, Esther, today. I appreciate them so much too. What an early Mother's Day!
More later....
We had our scalloped potatoes and ham casserole for lunch with peas and coleslaw salad. It was good. I took some of it over to Marilyn R. Bob will take the rest home for a supper. We had our pudding and cookies for dessert.
More even later...
They're working on the driveway at Scott and Ginger's new home.
Isn't that neat!
Bob came back over to pay some bills and after he finished with his notebook, I ran Glary Utilities to clean it up.
He stayed until about 6:30 and then went home to watch Jazz on PBS. I took my bath and prepared to sit in the recliner with Missy. I watched it until 9:15 when I just had to give up and go to bed.

Thursday and Lunch at Ministerial Alliance
I will not be cooking today. I am attending the alliance meeting and will have lunch there. Yesterday I sent the leftover roast home with Bob. He can have it for his lunch. We will have ham and potato casserole tomorrow with a veggie and a salad. I will have fruit for dessert and peanut butter cookies.
I will need to work on my sermon for the weekend after next. For some reason, I have been slow to start it. This will be a good day for that. I will need to get some sandpaper to sand the legs of the table I want to paint for my kitchen. I also need to get some brown paint since I do not want to stain it. I will try to get a photo of it today and post it here as a "before" photo. I spent a half hour yesterday just trying to get the wax off the table (I used ice) and then paint thinner to soften some white paint someone had got on the Formica table top and after it softened I then just scratched it off. And I still want to use some WD 40 to polish it off.
That will be a time consuming project. Then little by little I want to get my windows washed. I need to use that WD 40 to try to loosen the catches. They evidently have never been used and are solid as a rock.
Leslie, my daughter, called yesterday to say they had made reservations at a nice restaurant in Independence for Mother's Day. I believe it's called Vineyard. Bob can take the other two women to "Just Us" if they are in town. Phyllis may go to her Sherry's in Overland Park for Mother's Day. Karan just went to her Sheri's last weekend so she may be in town.
More later....
Here the latest photo of Scott and Ginger's new home in the process.
It will be lovely...I am sure.
I went with Bob to US Cellular this morning and we set him up with a US Cellular cell phone instead of the WalMart phone he had and when he got home, I called him. For once, we were able to talk on the telephone instead of texting. The call went through loud and clear. I had given him my other cell phone and they used it. His other number will be activated on the "new" phone on Monday. He wanted to use the same number and they have to get permission. In the meantime, they gave him a temporary number but kept the old number on the old phone activated until then... just in case someone tries to call him on his old number.
I went to the Ministerial Alliance meeting today. There were ten in attendance. There were 22 when I attended before I went back to work. They told me the association in Independence had disbanded altogether.
I took a photo of the dozen lovely roses Leslie sent me for Mother's Day but I had to use my phone camera. The other one had to have the battery charged. I don't know how to send the phone photo to my computer. I don't have a smart phone. I can't have a phone smarter then me. :)
More later...
Later I went to the Boys and Girls Club to meet the woman who is doing the Cinco De Mayo celebration there. It seems they are having it tomorrow between 5:30 and 7:30 even though Cinco de Mayo is today. I will try to get down there for awhile tomorrow. I want to meet this woman.
I stopped by Sharon's store and we agreed the PINCH organization should make a donation to their efforts. We would have helped them if we had known about their work earlier.
Then I came home and read awhile. I am working on this blog right now.
More even later...
This, folks, is the bouquet of roses my daughter sent me for Mother's Day! Isn't it beautiful? What a daughter! She also sent me a digital Mother's Day card. I am so blessed! I charged the battery in my digital camera so I could download this photo.
Bob is gone now. He came to watch the news and left soon after. Now I will take my bath and sit with Missy in the recliner.

Wednesday and Exercises and Game Day
I slept well again last night. I am getting more and more sleep these days. The nights are cool and the days are warm. I am getting a lot done. So that makes me very tired in the evening.
I have my roast in the slow cooker now with onion and onion soup mix. I will add the potatoes when I get home from exercises. Bob will bring a salad. I will heat up the leftover green beans. I don't believe I have carrots. I have cup cakes for dessert. I will also make up my lemon bars for game day this afternoon.
Tomorrow I have Ministerial Alliance meeting at noon so I will send the leftover roast home with Bob and that will give him something for tomorrow's lunch.
I missed a call from my son, Scott, yesterday. I had accidentally left my phone in the den. I tried to call him back but he was evidently busy and couldn't answer. I texted him my apologies.
More later...
The latest photos from my son. They have poured his driveway.
Then here is another:
They are also working on the inside:
I'm not sure where this is located in the house. (Scott left me a message to tell me this was to be found between the living room , dining room and foyer.)
Bob came over again this afternoon and washed some towels. A neighbor gave me a small table for my kitchen and I am going to sand it down and repaint it.
More later...
Bob came back over for the news but was very sleepy and didn't stay too long. I watched Nature and Nova on TV and then went to bed.

Tuesday and Cakes
It was very cool last night so I slept very well. In fact, I didn't get up until 6:00 which is quite late for me. I made the bed and got dressed and came in to the kitchen to feed Missy and myself. Then I realized I had not iced my cake before I went to bed so before I even ate breakfast, I got that cake iced. Then I took all the cakes out to the trunk of my car where I have a box to put some of them in.
I will pick Bob up at 8:20 to make our trip to Independence this morning. I may just take the detour even though it's a country road and a mess. He will help me unload the cakes at the Christian Church then I will go on to the beauty shop to get my hair done. After that, we will go to lunch. We may eat at Big Cheese again since Great China is closed for a month. They return to China to visit relatives there.
I will finish vacuuming the living room and my bedroom this afternoon. Missy was lying in the living room floor close to the north wall while I was vacuuming yesterday and she hates the vacuum so I just stopped halfway through. It could wait until today. I'll finish when she is in on the daybed.
Tomorrow we will have our roast beef, potatoes, carrots and green beans. Bob will probably have some more coleslaw. I now have cupcakes for dessert. I hope to bake cookies again this afternoon. We ran out yesterday. Those went fast! They were the peanut butter crisscross cookies I made last week, The first batch I forgot and they did not burn but they got crispy. Turns out Bob likes them that way. So he wants me to leave them in the oven a little longer and let them get crispy again. I may not have any more peanut butter crisscross mix. I have sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookie mix though.
More later...
I talked to my landlady Betty today and she showed me how to remove the windows in my apartment and wash them to get them clean. I tried to do my dining room window and it evidently had never been taken out and washed. It was filthy. It took me an hour to do one and I had to get Betty to come over and show me how to get it back together. She said the next day she was free, she would come and help me do every one. I have eight. She will undoubtedly have to help each of us do that.
Anyhow, one is more then I had done before. I may try to do one a week and get them all done eventually.
Bob came over this afternoon and paid some bills online. Afterward we took Missy outside for awhile. Later we walked over to Brahms and had an ice cream cone.
He left at 6:30 and I took my bath and prepared to sit in the recliner. I'll go to bed at 9:00.

Monday and Some Cleaning Before Exercise Class
Today after I get Missy fed and watered, I will watch the weather and then begin cleaning the bathroom and kitchen. After exercise class, and after Jeannie has a chance to wake up and get up, I will vacuum the living room and dining room. I have decided to clean just one or two rooms each day. That way, perhaps my thumb joint will not swell up and get sore. My new vacuum sweeper is not self propelled and vacuuming the entire apartment seems to make my right thumb swell and get very sore. That worked last week so I will try it again this week. Whatever helps.
I slept well last night after all the excitement of the fire at Bob's building. I'm surprised. I figured I would not be able to get to sleep but I was wrong. It had been a big day. I was tired and I slept well.
Missy is waiting for her breakfast so I will get back to this later.
More later...
Missy and I both have had our breakfast and I have had my cup of coffee and will fix my chai next. She wants to go out but it's still dark and we don't go out in the dark. It's also chilly out there. She will just have to wait until later in the day.
By the way, I heard from my son last weekend and he was given a clean bill of health about his skin...no cancer..thank God! Both my sons were great swimmers and divers and outdoors men so I would not have been surprised if he had had some sort of skin cancer. They are not fair skinned like their dad though so that may make the difference.
More later....
We had our exercises and afterward I fixed the hamburger pie. It was good. I sent a piece home with Bob and another one over to Marilyn R. We will have our regular pizza tomorrow in Independence. I got my cake baked and some cupcakes too. After they cool I will ice them.
Bob went home to take a nap and I watered my plants and took Missy out for awhile. It is a little chilly out there but she ate some grass and I know that's good for her. She is here on the daybed behind me now...evidently enjoying the company.
More even later...
Bob came back over for the news. There was really nothing on TV so he went home. Then I took my bath and put my PJs on to try to find something interesting to watch until 9:00. I was scanning channels and found a documentary on a movie channel about the experiences of the German filmmakers who had to come to the USA to escape the Nazis just before World War II. It was very interesting so I texted Bob about it. I had never heard their story. After that was finished, Missy and I went on to bed.

Sunday..and Church
I will bake my coffee cake for the church school class this morning. Bob always fixes coffee and one of us takes a treat of some kind...he takes banana nut bread and I take this coffee cake. We take turns.
I slept well last night but got up shortly after 4:00. It's slightly after 5:00 now. I want to get a start on this blog before I go in and feed Missy and fix my own breakfast. Marilyn R. brought me two cinnamon rolls that she baked last evening. She is so good about sharing her fudge and now these cinnamon rolls. I will have one with my oatmeal.
I will get back to this after breakfast. Missy is waiting patiently at my feet for her breakfast...so more later....
I have now fed Missy and myself and have the coffee cake finished and iced. It's 7:20 now. I have written my rent check for tomorrow and my tithe check for today. As Bob said on his text a little while ago, I am ahead of the game now. I got up early enough not to have to rush.
Missy wants to go outside now but it's too chilly out there now. This afternoon, if and when it warms up, I will take her out for awhile. I hope to drive over to Cherryvale to eat at "Just Us" after church. If Phyllis is at church, I will invite her too. I think Karan is still in Kansas City visiting her daughter. She will be back this afternoon.
We take cakes this week to Independence on Tuesday. Wednesday afternoon we will have Bunco at the senior center. I will have Ministerial Alliance on Thursday at noon. Bob will be on his own for lunch that day.
Tomorrow we will have something with ground beef. I'm not sure just what yet. We had goulash last week. Maybe we will have hamburger pie this week with green beans in it and a salad. I have pudding to be made up for dessert and I still have peanut butter cookies to go with it. Tuesday we will eat out in Independence after I get my hair done. Wednesday we will have a roast and Bob can have the left overs for his Thursday lunch while I am at the alliance meeting. And Friday maybe we will have a ham and potato casserole.
After lunch today, I will come back home and do the newsletters before the Living the Questions group at Karan's this evening at 7:00.
More later....
I got everything done and even read this afternoon. Then this evening Bob came over to watch the news. He left when I went to get Gary for Living the Questions. Joyce called when we pulled up to Karan's and cancelled. Her allergies were bothering her. Mona and Richard didn't show either. There were only four of us but we had a good meeting and visit and Gary really seemed to enjoy it. I took Gary to the Dollar General store before I took him home. He needed a few things and he doesn't have a car.
When I got back home, I watched a little of Dateline before Missy and I went to bed. I had just got to bed when Bob called. One of the apartments upstairs at Sycamore Landing was on fire. They were all out in the parking lot and the fire department was there. There was a chance he would have to come over and sleep in my den. As it turned out, they were able to put the fire out with extinguishers. A man had put some chicken on in the skillet on low and then forgotten it and walked over to the VFW.
Bob later called and said there was some smoke but it wasn't bad and he was just going to go on to bed. That was some excitement for those poor old people! Many are in wheel chairs.
