Saturday and the Cherry Blossom Festival

I slept well again last night. I have dressed and had my breakfast and am working on my coffee now.

I hope today will be sunny. I have planned to go over to Cherryvale to the Cherry Blossom Festival. You can just never tell about the weather anymore...even when they forecast it, sometimes they miss it by a mile. I hope Nancy is well today. I called her yesterday to ask her to go to Coffeyville to get our flowers and once again, she had been up and down all night and morning with diarrhea.

I was going to ask her to go to the festival with me today. I was thinking about going about 10:00AM. I will have to wait to see what the weather is like by then and also how Nancy is feeling today.

I am so glad I got my flowers in yesterday. My hair got damp as I was planting flowers but it will be alright until next Wednesday. I combed at it after it dried.  The flowers seem to be doing fine this morning. I imagine the rain was good for them. Also, later in the evening, I did see the little hummingbird back at the feeder so I guess it didn't give up on me.

More later.. I want to go watch the news.

I watched the news and then tried to call Nancy. She didn't answer. She was either still in bed or sick again and in the bathroom. Whatever the problem, I knew she was not ready to go anywhere. So I drove over to Cherryvale myself....big mistake!! I spent the entire time trying to stay out of the mud. Most vendors didn't even bother to come.  They were the wise ones. It was a waste of time.  Anyhow, it was sunshiny and it got me out of the house again. I got back about 11:15AM. I may go down the Lowe's in Bartlesville. I still need to get one of those wire racks that hold the grass bag for the mower so you can empty it easier.

I just called Nancy and she is fine today. I asked her if she wanted to go to Bartlesville with me and eat at the Copan Truck Stop on the way. She could get her flowers at Lowe's too. She wants to go but needs about 25 minutes to get ready.  I will pick her up at 11:45AM then.

I will get gas while I am down there too.  I am down to just a little above a quarter tank now.

We went to the Copan Truck Stop Cafe for lunch and had the taco salad.  I picked up the ticket and stood in line to pay it. A young man just ahead of me in line took my ticket and paid for our lunches. I thought that was so nice! We both thanked him profusely.

Afterward we went to Lowe's where I wanted to buy one of those wire racks that we can put our big black yard plastic bags and empty the contents of the lawn mower bag. But they did not order any this year. So I could not find one. Nancy, on the other hand bought two lovely plants for her front porch. We had a good time! She is good company. She wanted to see my flowerbed so we stopped at my apartment so she could see it. My petunias were a little beat down by last evening's rain but I think they will come out of it.

Then I took her home.

I came home and read the papers. I will watch Amazon Prime this evening. I should have some recorded shows now.

In the morning, I will need to make my coffeecake to take to the Church School class.

It's 4:30PM now so I will go watch the news. Then later, I will take my bath at 7:00PM and watch the Amazon Prime TV.

I plan to go to bed at 9:00PM as usual.

Friday and More Rain Forecast

Again, I slept well. Taking three 10 mg  Melatonin tablets may be the answer. It seems to work.

I don't have a plan for today. I would get my flowers but we are forecast for more rain today. Maybe it will be sunshiny tomorrow and I can go to Coffeyville to the nursery and buy my flowers.

I have dressed and had my oatmeal and coffee. And I have watched the weather. I am sure tired of rain but Caney's weather is nothing like Iowa's weather. I shouldn't complain.

I will get back to this later...

I went over to Coffeyville this morning and bought my flowers. I got home just in time to get them planted before the rain started. ...all but the petunias. I will have to plant them later..The rain won't hurt them. I stopped three places to get what I wanted. I wanted red salvia for the back row but had to settle for purple salvia.

I went to Hains first but theirs didn't look all that good. Then I went to the florist Green Acres but she had nothing I wanted. Finally I ran out to Walmart for my Lipton peach tea and for some strange reason, theirs looked best of all. So I bought some at Hains and some at Walmart. Then I stopped at Brahms and got my milk before coming on back home.

I rushed around to get the flowers planted and all the while it was thundering. I barely got most of it in the ground before the rain started.

More later...

It stopped raining long enough for me to get the petunias in the ground. So everything is planted now. I think it will all make it alright.

I will go watch the news now...it is almost 5:00PM.

After the news, I took my bath and put my PJs on and watched two episodes of Forensic Files.  It's almost 8:00PM now and I  will not go to bed until 9:00PM. It seems to have stopped raining now. I think tomorrow is to be sunny.

Thursday and Laundry and Cleaning Day

I slept very well again last night. I got up about 5:00AM and stripped my bed and put my sheets, towels and PJs in the laundry.  Then I remade the bed with the sheets Leslie bought for me when she bought my new box springs and mattress last year. So that is done and I have had my oatmeal for breakfast, my coffee, and am working on my Chai. I have also watched the weather channel. We are forecast for rain all next week. Ugh! I really wanted to get my flowers planted sometime soon. And I have no idea when I will be able to mow again.

And I now have the laundry in the dryer.

I will soon wash the bathroom and kitchen floors and vacuum the carpet. I will also need to dust again. It's always something. But that's what Thursdays are good for.

More later....

Want to know why I wouldn't live in Tulsa if I was given free housing? I just heard the announcer say this homicide today was their 22nd of the year...and this is just May 2nd.  Just imagine how many they will have by December 31st.  Wow!

I got all the laundry and vacuuming finished and even got the dusting finished. I ate a half sandwich too and an ice cream bar. Then I worked on my June 9th sermon and got that and the bulletin finished. I have been waiting for the mailman but he is running late this morning.

I guess he will eventually get here.

More later...

The mailman did finally get here with my paper and the water/sewer/trash bill. I scheduled the payment and also paid the bill for my twine for the trimmer. I bought several of them on Amazon.

Then I spent the afternoon watching Amazon Prime Video. I did manage to empty the grass from the mower bag.  I had left the side yard grass in there since Sunday evening but finally got it out today.

Then I watched a couple of episodes of Forensic Files on Amazon Prime and finally had another ice cream bar. I will eat some yogurt after awhile. At 7:00PM, I will take my bath and  plan to go to bed at 9:00PM as usual. I am tired.

I cleaned the apartment and did all my laundry today. It didn't rain today and I could have planted my flowers but really didn't want to drive back to Coffeyville again today. I have time. I will do it the next time we don't have rain.

I haven't seen my little hummingbird today. I hope he hasn't decided not to come back. I may have to put some fresh nectar in the feeder. Maybe the rain watered it down too much.

It's almost 9:00PM so I will go on to bed.

Wednesday and Hair Day

I slept pretty well last night. I did wake up a couple of times with diarrhea.  I don't know what that was all about. All I had for supper was half a turkey and cheese sandwich and a small amount of tomato basil soup....and an ice cream bar.

Anyhow, otherwise, I slept well and until almost 6:00AM

I will go back to Coffeyville this morning and have my hair done and also try to get out to Walmart and get another garden hook. The hummingbird is using my hummingbird feeder even though it is hanging catty wampus on the fence. I will put the hook in the flowerbed so I can watch the hummingbirds out the window in the den. I also need yogurt, half and half and cake pans.

Scott called this morning and talked to me until he got to work. He shared his family news with me and about their move to Gallatin, Tennessee, a city of about 38,000 near Nashville. They will live there until their home is finished.

I hope the rain holds off until I get my running around done. Suzanne wants to meet Alice and me at Copan Truck Stop about 2:00PM this afternoon and I will pay my rent then so I need to get back to Caney instead of going to play Bunco at the senior center. I will leave for Coffeyville at 8:15AM for the hair appointment and the trip to Walmart afterward.

So more later...

As soon as I got to Coffeyville I went out to Walmart to get a hook to hang my hummingbird feeder on. Wouldn't you know! They were out! So I went to Orchelon's and found one. I have the feeder hanging out there now and the little hummingbird is gone now. After this rain is over, I will go back to Coffeyville to the nursery and get my flowers.  I plan to take Nancy with me so she can get hers.

After I had my hair done, I got two cake pans at the Dollar Tree, went to the bank and stopped at Brahms and got my yogurt and half and half.

Nancy and I went to lunch today and she picked up my ticket. I told her it was my treat but she said I could get it another time. We will see!

I am to meet Alice and Suzanne at the Copan Truck Stop for coffee and pie at 3:30PM. Alice is in Bartlesville today.

More later...

Suzanne called about an hour early and invited me to come early to the truck stop for pie and tea. We hadn't been there long when Alice came. We visited for at least an hour and had our pie and even some onion rings.

Suzanne came by the apartment afterward to see me apartment again and the valences I had put up. I told her I was going to ask Bob A. to let me borrow his electric hedge trimmer and she offered to get a local guy to trim both our hedges....mine and Alice's. I took her up on that offer.  She will contact him soon and that hedge will get trimmed.

I won't eat another bite this evening. That piece of pie was huge. In about an hour, I will take my bath and put my PJs on and watch TV until 9:00PM when I intend to go to bed.

Tuesday and Also Rain Again

I slept very well last night. I didn't get up until nearly 6:00AM. I dressed but then texted Bob to see if he would like to have breakfast. He did. So about 6:45AM, I took off in the light rain for Coffeyville. I took my cake since he will be taking them to Independence this morning. I also took the other little Flawless chin shaver for Karan and after breakfast I dropped by her house and gave it to her. No sense having two here when one is all I need.

I drove out of the rain at Tyro on my way home.  The trash people had come so I put away my trash container.  Then it began raining again. I ordered replacement trimmer string from Amazon this morning. Next time I mow I will probably have to trim. I don't want to run out of string. Eventually I will order a second battery if this trimmer works well. First I want to see how well it works before I spend any more money on it. John used his heavy duty trimmer when he mowed for me during conference.

I intended to stop at Brahms and get my yogurt, half and half and cake pans on my way home but it was raining hard so I will plan on stopping tomorrow when I go back for my hair appointment if it's not raining hard then.

I went out and wiped the rain out of the cat dish and filled it again with Meow Mix for that kitten I have been feeding. Then I set it out of the area of the rain. I hope the little critter can get to it and eat without getting soaked.

More later...

It's finally raining here again now that it is 4:47PM.  It has not been raining in Caney all afternoon but I have been watching every channel on TV and they are all talking about "possible" tornadoes all around the area in Oklahoma and southeast Kansas. So far, none of those "possible" tornadoes have panned out to be "actual" tornadoes.  The danger of all that hype is, when and if there is an "actual" tornado, there will have been so much hype about "possible" tornadoes that one is likely to think that that is just so much more hype and no one will take then seriously and then someone will be injured or killed.

I don't know what the answer to that is, but I do know that constant hype about "possible" tornadoes here and there is not the answer.

I need to go to Coffeyville again tomorrow and get my hair done and also go out to Walmart or Orchelon's and get some things. One thing I need is another hook for my hummingbird feeder. I want to put that in my flowerbed. I had hoped to plant my flowers this week but that will have to wait until all his rain passes.

I took my bath at 7:00PM and got ready for bed. The tornado warning expired at 9:00PM.

I tried to watch TV but there was nothing on but the weather. So I turned to Amazon Prime and watched a couple of programs until bedtime. I went to bed at 9:00PM

Monday and Rain

It's a good thing I mowed yesterday evening. It rained last night and it's still raining lightly. I went over to the Dollar General store this morning and bought a cake pan for my cake. I have the cake in the oven now and will ice it when it is finished baking and cooled.

I slept well last night and got up about 5:00AM. I have dressed and had my oatmeal. I may do some laundry after awhile. I don't have a lot and I usually do that on Thursdays while I clean. But my jacket is dirty. I took it to the retreat and it got dirty there, especially the neck. That ought to tell you something about my neck. :)

And it was also very windy there. In fact it's pretty breezy here.

When I go to Coffeyville on Wednesday I want to stop by U.S Cellular and see if they can do something with this cell phone. While I was gone and we were sharing photos, something changed in my phone and every text has a bunny on it. I want to get rid of that and also I have a terrible time getting my photos to  post on my facebook site. It takes several tries.

More later...

You may or may not see this tiny wren on my birdhouse.

Image may contain: plant, tree, house, sky and outdoor
They have been building a nest in that birdhouse ever since I got home.

It looks like they may nearly got the roof finished on Scott and Ginger's new home.

I stayed in nearly all day. It was damp and chilly. I had hoped to get my flowers planted but I will wait for a warmer day. I am so glad I got the entire yard moved last evening.  It would have been too wet today.

I will meet Bob tomorrow for breakfast, I will take him my cake. I did get that cake baked and iced this morning.  I also have a short list for groceries...mostly half and half and yogurt. I am still eating sandwiches off that shredded turkey and cheese I bought to feed Dean while he was here. He wanted me to eat out with him so I am trying to get that eaten up this week. I will take the rest of it to Bob tomorrow if I remember.

I took my bath about 7:00PM and will try to find something to read or watch on TV until 9:00PM. Then I will go to bed.

Back From the Retreat

I am home now from the retreat. We all had a very good time and it ended up with a communion service.

The first night none of us slept very well. Carmen missed Rick and was ready to come home Saturday night but changed her mind after finding a bed in another room on the bottom bunk.
Johnna and Kelly came and we were all so glad to see them. It was a small retreat...something like 25 altogether. Usually there are at least 40.This was a world conference year though and many had spent their vacation and money going to World Conference. But we had a good time anyhow.

It will be another year before we have another women's retreat.

I got back home after we dropped off Carmen and I got my car out of Karan's garage. I put everything away and sat down to relax.

So more later...

I watched TV for awhile and then Nancy came and we visited for awhile. While she was here we noticed my lawn needed mowing again. I thought I might just do the front and the back but it looks like it might rain this evening so I filled the mower with gas and after she left to go visit Sandy, I put the Tivo on "record" for 60 Minutes and went on out and mowed the entire thing. I have it done for another week.

Image may contain: grass, tree, outdoor and nature
This is the side yard..all finished.
Image may contain: tree, grass, outdoor and nature
This is the front yard...all finished too!

Image may contain: grass, plant, outdoor and nature
Back yard all done too..one more week finished.

At 7:00PM, I will take my bath and watch the 60 Minutes program I recorded before I go on to bed.
