Saturday and a Restless Night

I slept well last night but kept waking up. Luckily I was able to get back to sleep each time except at 4:00AM. I stayed in bed and tried to get back to sleep but this time I couldn't so shortly after at 4:00AM I just got up and dressed and got ready for the day. I fed Missy early to get her off the bed so I could make it. Yesterday I noticed there was a small spot that looked like a wet spot on the coverlet on the bed. It never dried however. I tried to clean it this morning but I'm not sure how well I did that. I have been meaning to take the coverlet over to the laundromat and wash it and dry it and this may give me the incentive to get that done. I will try to get to the bank before noon to get a roll of quarters.

It's almost 5:30AM now so I will get back to this after my breakfast. So, more later...

I see I never  got back to this on Saturday. And never posted anything on Sunday either.  Sorry!

Friday and a Free Day

I woke up at 2:30AM and went to the bathroom and took my med and then went back to bed. Sleeping from that point on was just off and on. Finally about 4:15AM, I just got up. Tossing and turning is not resting. I don't have anything planned for today.  It's just now 5:00AM.

The TV has been working well the past couple of days.  I was able to catch the CBS news yesterday without the picture tearing. But now, because of the rain, I guess, I can't get a picture at all. I did watch Amazon Prime CBS news for an earlier show.

Now I am back on Amazon Prime to watch the episode of The New Detectives I fell asleep during last night.

More later...

The rain has stopped now and I have a picture on my TV again.

I went up to Utopia this morning about 10:00AM and had a cinnamon roll and utopiachino. That took the place of my lunch.

My mail came and I got the Reporter and read it and then did the crossword puzzle. Then I took it over to Marilyn's. It's chilly and damp feeling. I did go out to Walmart and bought over $40.00 worth of groceries. I was out of a lot of food.

More even later...

I watched some more The New Detectives this afternoon.  About 4:00PM I took Missy out again. There were two stray cats out there so she didn't stay out long. Last evening we were under a fog advisory and tomorrow we are under a freeze warning.

At 5:00PM I watched TV and the news.

About 7:00PM, I took my bath and Missy and I watched some more episodes of The New Detectives on Amazon Prime before we went to bed at 9:30PM.

Thursday and an Even More Swollen Hand

I slept very well last night...clear to nearly 4:30AM without interruption. Then I went back to bed and didn't get up until after 5:00AM.

I notice my hand is even more swollen this morning. It still doesn't hurt though. I wonder if  Dr. Gillis will call sometime this morning with the verdict?

I want to run the vacuum again this morning now that the carpet is dry. Then I have nothing else planned unto 5:30PM when we have the book review at the library.

I have dressed and fed myself and Missy. I notice Missy is not eating much of her cat food. I found a half dozen pieces on the den floor this morning...perfectly dry. Her water dish was completely dry this morning though. Hmmm.. I gave her some more of that wet cat food and she ate all of that and her little treats.

My carpet really looks nice. It really needed to be cleaned!

More later...I want to catch the news...

I cleaned the bare floors and after the doctor didn't call in the afternoon, I ran the vacuum with my left hand. The hand was swollen all day although by mid afternoon some of the swelling had gone down.  The apartment looks so nice with the clean carpet. I was still amazed at all the cat hair that was still in the vacuum when I finished though.

I took Missy outside for awhile while the sun was shining and it was nice. She loved that. She laid on the mat at the back door for a long time before I convinced her to come back in.  Merrill was mowing and making a lot of noise so she was willing.

I went over to Brahms and bought my yogurt for the week.

Then I read my new Readers Digest all afternoon and at 5:15PM started for the Book Review at the library.  We had a good discussion meeting. The librarian will post some choices for the next month's read and I will try to get the next book from our library too. Gary wanted to read the book "Fear" by Bob Woodward but is way down the list at the library to get it. I told him I had it and would bring it back up and loan my copy to him.

After I picked mine up I drove back downtown to take it to him. Now he can take his name off the list at the library. I stopped at Sonic and bought a small banana milkshake.

Then I came back home and at 7:20PM, I took my bath and got myself ready for bed and Missy and I lay down on the sofa to watch The New Detectives on Amazon Prime. I fell asleep on the sofa during the program and woke up at 9:30PM and finally went on to bed.

Wednesday and a Badly Swollen Hand

I slept fairly well last night. I was a little concerned about getting the apartment ready for the carpet cleaning at 10AM this morning. I got up at 2:30AM to go to the bathroom and stayed in bed until 4:00AM to try to get back to sleep but it was no use. When I got up and dressed I noticed the hand was swollen even worse then last night. It still does not hurt.  I got myself ready for the day and am going to eat breakfast. I have already fed Missy.

I think I will call Darrell this morning and postpone the carpet cleaning and go by the urgent care and see what is going on with the hand. It is my right hand and I am very right handed.

I plan to meet Gay at 11:30 to have lunch with her class members at Lannings. Then at 2:00PM I plan to go to Asbury Village for Bunco.

More later...

I couldn't reach Darrell but I got his answering machine and left a message that I was going to have to reschedule again and my number. The urgent care opens at 8:30 and I want to be first in line there. It's only a little past 7:00AM now. I did notify Leslie, my daughter.

More even later...

I got right in at acute care and they sent me to Dr. Gillis' to be x-rayed. They said the doctor would call me in the morning with the results.   We will see. I have heard that story before. Anyhow, I got right in and out and called Darrell .back to see if I could still get him to clean my carpets. He could. He came out at 10:45 and got right on it and did a great job. My carpets look like new! They are still damp. before he came, I vacuumed real well...using my left arm to vacuum. It cost me $65.00 but he did a great job.  I dd not have him do the bedrooms since I do nothing in there but sleep. I will vacuum in the re tomorrow morning.

He got finished in good time and I had him position the fan where he thought it would do the best job of drying the carpets. They still have a ways to go but they are getting there.  Then I went to  Lannings to eat with Gay and her class members.  Afterward I went out to Asbury Village to play Bunco. I won the draw for a welcome  sign.

Then I came back home. I am out of yogurt so I am not sure what I will eat.  I don't want my leftovers from lunch at this point.  I may have soup.

When my carpet was nearly dry, I moved everything back in the rooms. I only moved light things since I didn't want to move anything too heavy.  Anyhow, it looks very nice!

More later....

I ate an ice cream bar.  Tomorrow I will need to get some more yogurt.

I took my bath at 7:00PM and lay down with Missy to watch Amazon Prime TV  and fell asleep around 8:00PM and when I woke up it was 10:30PM. I got up and turned the TV off and Missy and I went to bed.

Tuesday and Hair Do Day and Cake Deliveries

Hooray! I slept through the entire night last night. I got up at my usual 5:00AM but really got a good night's sleep for a change!

I dressed and got myself ready for the day, cleaned out Missy's litter box and checked my bank account.  Then I went to the kitchen and fed Missy and myself and turned on the news. I had a lovely clear picture for the first time in weeks!  Hooray!

The hand seems much better this morning. It's only barely swollen and just stiff from that swelling..

Today, at 9:00AM, I will get my hair done and then pick up Bob's cake and go on to the church and pick up Sue's cake from the freezer there and then go on to Independence to deliver the cakes to the First Christian Church . On my way back home I will stop at the church again and pick up the ground beef Leslie left there for me on Sunday. I want to defrost one of those pounds of ground beef for my goulash for Sunday's basket dinner. The others I will keep in the freezer for chili this winter.

The rest of the day is up for grabs. I will play it by ear. Tonight my ice cream bars from Schwans will  be here sometime between 5:00PM and 8:00PM. I have stopped buying their other frozen food because even their singles are too large for me and I cannot eat all that food. The Good Value frozen dinners from Walmart are smaller and just right for me. The plus is they only cost $1.88 each.

So,more later....

Bob just texted me that he didn't get his cake done yesterday. So I will only have four to deliver. We initially started with two from Independence and two from Neodesha and four from Coffeyville but then three of them dropped out and sometimes Sue doesn't get one done either.  Only four of us are retired so I understand the others dropping out. And Phyllis still works part time.

More later...

I got my hair done and then went to Independence and delivered the cakes and brought my ground beef  home and put it in the freezer. I will take one package out to thaw in the frig.for my goulash for the basket dinner at church on Sunday. I have all the ingredience except for tomato sauce. I will have to remember to take my minutes book because we have a business meeting on Sunday too.

I was trying to watch the noon news and it was tearing. The station cuts power in the middle of the day. I don't know why.

I raked up some leaves this afternoon. But didn't get finished. It won't do a lot of good anyhow since there are still lots of leaves on the trees. But the exercise was good for me.

Later in the day, at about 4:00PM, I noticed the TV cleared up again and wasn't tearing any longer. I had turned it off all afternoon. I noticed my hand was still swollen and put ice on it. It still doesn't hurt.

I watched the Channel 6 news and CBS news and then changed over to Amazon Prime. I took my bath after the Schwan's delivery came with my ice cream bars.  Then Missy and I watched The New detectives until 9:00PM and then we went to bed. I took my melatonin before Missy and I went to bed.

A Busy Monday

This will be a big day. I hope I am up to it. I awoke at 2:30AM and went to the bathroom, cleaned out Missy's litter box and took my med and then went back to bed. I couldn't get back to sleep. I finally just gave up and got up at 3:45AM.

The first thing I need to do after the City of Coffeyville opens this morning at 8:00AM is go up there and pay my electric bill. I usually pay it online but for some strange reason, I forgot to schedule it. So now I will have to pay it in person or pay the penalty. I also need to get gas.

Then I will come back home and wait for Leslie to tell me when she wants me to meet her at Tyro to pick her up and go on to Bartlesville. We are going to Tate Boys there to buy four new tires today for my car. Then we plan to eat at McCalister's across the street from Tate Boys while they mount them.

John and Jeromy came Saturday while I was manning the rummage sale at the senior center and put the TV antenna pole up. Jeromy was in a hurry to go to work at the pool hall so they didn't get the antenna mounted. Maybe Keith will do that when he and Esther are here in November. John didn't know if there was enough antenna wire up there in the attic to stretch to the top of the pole. He called to ask Keith but Keith didn't remember how much there was up there in the attic.

It's 4:30 now so maybe I'd better feed Missy and myself.

More later....

I got Missy and myself fed and ready for the day. I went to Woodshed and filled up my tank with gas and then went by Country Mart and bought icing for my cake. I also picked up a birthday card for Mary Beth. By then it was time to leave for Tyro to meet Leslie. We went to Bartlesville and Tate Boys for the tires and they gave us a loaner to use while Leslie does some shopping she wants to do for the farm. Then after that we went to McCaister's for lunch. It was, as usual, very good!

After lunch, we stopped by Tate Boys and picked up my car. All four tires need alignment so there was an extra $79.98 on the bill. She gave me my mail in $100 rebate and when I got home I filled it out and mailed it in.

John and Leslie came back this evening  to take the little girls to their Karate class and John climbed up in the attic and found the antenna was on the floor of the attic. No wonder I had such bad reception!  Leslie also re-screwed in the antenna plug into the Tivo and John found another loose connection on the other side of the TV and tightened that. My picture became perfect. I now have a nice sharp channel 6 picture and can get CBS news clearly.  John still intends to try to get the antenna out on the pole to see if I can get even more channels with an outside antenna on an outside pole.

While I was outside in the back going inside to get my phone, I tripped and fell on my right hand and hurt that right hand. After about 15 minutes the hand stopped  hurting although it was slightly swollen. Before I went to bed, I took an Aleve ...just in case

About 7:00PM, I took my bath and soaked the hand too. Then Missy and I watched another episode of "The New Detectives" on my Amazon Prime. We both went to bed shortly after 9:00PM.

Sunday and Church

I slept poorly. I took an Aleve before bedtime and awoke at 2:00AM to go to the bathroom and take my med. I also took a melatonin tablet but it didn't work. I was never able to get back to sleep. The right arm ached the rest of the night and I got  up at 4:00AM, dressed and made the bed. I will eat some breakfast after I feed Missy her treats and cat food and check her water.

I am not sure where we will have lunch today. It will be up to the others. Phyllis may drive today although Bob will be bringing his pumpkin bread so that's not for sure. I will need to get some gas sometime today too.

Maybe I will finish my book this afternoon.

More later....

This is a book I’d like to challenge every citizen to read it is “The Fifth Risk” by Michael Lewis. Lewis is a bestselling author who has written several other best sellers. The one I recall the best was “The Big Short” and had to do with the mess we encountered as a nation in 2008.

The real story of the crash began in bizarre feeder markets where the SEC doesn't dare, or bother, to tread: the bond and real estate derivative markets where geeks invent impenetrable securities to profit from the misery of lower- and middle-class Americans who can't pay their debts. The smart people who understood what was or might be happening were paralyzed by hope and fear; in any case, they weren't talking. It was obvious he had done his research and I read this one and shared it with many of my friends…..especially those who had lost their shirts in the market or their homes to foreclosure when they became underwater.

“The Fifth Risk” is about the ineptitude of the present administration running our country and if the 2008 crash gave you nightmares, this one will keep you awake nights. Lewis is easy to read but he a genius at research and telling the real story most of us don’t know for sure but only suspect.  He has research the facts.

I challenge people who care about what this country is going through and this administration is doing…or not doing… to read this book.

We had lunch at Great China and I brought some of mine home. It was very good but I decided not to eat it tonight. I might not sleep well.

At 5:00 I tried to watch the Cowboys game but the TV kept tearing so I gave up on it and watched some more Amazon Prime. That is streamed.

At 7:00PM I took my bath and laid down with Missy to watch Forensic Files until 8:30 when I could no longer keep my eyes open. I went on to bed and Missy soon followed. I took my melatonin when I went to bed hoping to help me sleep.
