Again, I slept well after taking a Zyrtec tablet for my allergies at bedtime.
Today Leslie will come by to get Karan and me for a trip to Joplin for our group 3 meeting. I am not wildly enthusiastic about it but it is something different to do on a dreary day. I am supposed to give a prayer and Leslie is supposed to give the benediction.
I will try to remember to take some photos. As you may have discovered by now, it doesn't seem to be a priority for me. Mostly, I forget it. I always carry a camera with me but I just don't remember to use it to take photos. We will be gone most all day.
More later....
As you can see, my daughter had a friend take this photo of us as we had our lunch. That's me on the right in front and that's my daughter on the left..in front. Our friend, Karan is next to her on the left in the dark framed glasses.
I will have a few more photos as I download them on my computer later..
These little girls are selling goodies to send the proceeds to Outreach International to help folks in third world countries. Isn't that a great project?
This is my daughter, Leslie, again. And the woman nearly out of the photo is our friend, Karan.
I got a few more photos but they were not very good so I deleted them.
We got back home about 5:00 and I changed my clothes and laid down with Missy awhile. I am about to take my bath. I am very tired. I may go to bed early. I have a big day tomorrow. I will bake my coffeecake for the Church School class and then after I do my newsletters tomorrow afternoon, I will make a pineapple upside down cake. I hope I will be able to get it turned upside down and out of the pan for the Living the Questions group tomorrow evening.
Perhaps more later..

Friday and Exercise Class
I will go to exercise class today. I have the soup in the slow cooker on #3 and have the table set too. I don't have much time to post just now. It's almost time for Bob to pick me up.
I am going to Utopia this morning after the class. I love their cinnamon rolls and the Utopiachino too. After that, we will come back for the beef/vegetable soup I have fixed this morning. I have cheese and crackers to go with it and I have cupcakes for dessert.
So, more later....
It was pouring down rain and we are under a flood watch too now. We did go to Utopia for their treats though. They were good. We will eat a little later then usual because of that. We will eat about noon today.
I will likely stay in today (because of the rain) and read. I started the "Hidden Figures" book. It is good and interesting so I may just read this afternoon.
So, more later...
We had the soup and it was good! I had made plenty so I took some to Marilyn R., my neighbor too.
I read the entire book and then started the second one she brought me. It is about those "orphan trains" from the past. It is a novel however.
Bob came over later in the afternoon and watched the news until 7:00. We also watched the Brooks and Shields interview but David Brooks was not there. They had Gershen instead. I forget his first name. He often stands in for David Brooks when he is out of town or on an assignment. He is o.k. but he is no David Brooks...that's for sure.
When Bob left I took my bath and lay with Missy on the sofa for awhile. Then at 8:45, we both went to bed. I was very tired.

Thursday and a Dental Appointment
I slept well again last night. I took a Zyrtec tablet before I went to bed. That always helps! I got up after 5:00 and dressed and got ready for my dental appointment. It's just a cleaning and exam. I don't expect a problem of any kind.
I fed Missy and myself and am working on the blog. As soon as it gets light I will go outside with Missy. It rained last night and we are under a flood watch/warning now. We have a 50% chance of more rain. It is also supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow.
I did get my bed stripped and the sheets and pillow cases in the washer. It is all in the dryer now. That may be the only thing I get done today. I do need to get the video Bob wants to see tonight. It is "Florence". I also need to stop by Stan's and get some more batteries for the hearing aid. I have just one left.
It's light now. I will get back to this later and now I will take Missy outside. More later....
Well, it was raining again. So we came back in the apartment. She wanted to wander off anyhow. I Had to restrain her from going down into one of those culverts. My sheets were dry anyhow..so I remade the bed and drank my cup of chai latte.
Now I am catching up on my blog and reading my kids Facebook stuff. I will leave for the dentist in about thirty minutes. I hope it won't be raining. I will wear my oldest shoes anyhow...just in case.
Well, the dental appointment went well....no new problems. It was $90.00 though just for a cleaning...no exam.
After that, I came home and fixed lunch...leftover Sloppy Joes with shoestring potatoes. We also had Coke with it. After Bob left I planted my new tomato plant and then went to V&S Variety for a video for tonight. I also stopped by Stan's and bought a new box of hearing aid batteries. That's the first box I have bought since buying the hearing aid.
Now I have come home to wait for the mail. I seldom get anything but trash mail.
Soon I will lie down with Missy and watch TV and maybe fall asleep too.
Bob will come over this evening to watch the video. It is Meryl Street's movie "Florence". I saw it at Scott and Ginger's last December. It was funny.
Leslie will bring me a tomato cage on Saturday when she comes to pick me up for the group 3 meeting at Joplin.
More later...
One of my friends on a blog was telling us she loved Fiesta ware. It is so colorful. I have Noritake myself. I bought it when I worked at Blackledge Sales Company back in the 70's. I took a photo of it but for some reason, it won't download . Maybe the battery is weak. I'll change it out and try again.
That worked! It was the battery! Luckily I have a spare! Anyhow, you can see how colorful this pattern is. It is called Roanoke. It is a part of their Versatone II collection. It has been long out of stock but can be found online.
More later...
I stood out on the carport and visited with my neighbors for half an hour and then came back in the apartment to look for Missy. I could not find her! Then I realized she had gone out with me too. She had wandered off as I was visiting and not paying any attention. The neighborhood is full of stray cats. I started hunting for her calling her name over and over again. I had just about given up when I say her out on Lewark three houses down at someone's garage. When she called me she came to me but she did not want to go home. So I picked her up hissing and growling all the awhile, and carried her back to Morgan street, being careful to stay out of reach of those claws and teeth. Once there, she made a mighty leap and jumped out of my arms. She cried out in pain as she jumped to the pavement but she did come on home as I clapped my hands at her ...she was growling all the way. What a close call! She could have been badly hurt if one of those young large strays had found her.
Bob came over at 5:15 and watched the news with me and then we watched "Florence". It was funny. As soon as Bob left I took my bath and soon Missy and I went to bed.

Wednesday and Gay Comes
I slept very well last night. I took some allergy meds. I got up after 5:00 and started right in feeding Missy and myself. I took my Chai out on the carport and did some sweeping and watering. We are supposed to get rain this evening so that really isn't necessary...Habit, I guess.
I was out there when a lady named Darlene came by. She was trying to raise Wayne, my former landlord. She also couldn't raise Merrill, his son. She finally got Wayne's daughter on the phone. She was to be his caretaker for 20 hours a week. He is 96 and will be 97 in May on the 20th. She finally got his daughter on the phone and promised to return on Tuesday. She gave me a half dozen cookies she had baked for Wayne. She seemed very nice.
I had taken Missy out with me and when I was visiting with Darlene, she slipped away from me. When I came back in the house, I expected her to be on the daybed or...worst case scenario, on my chair. She wasn't to be found. Then I remembered she had been outside with me. I hurried out to find her. She wasn't in the front so I stuck my head around to the east side and called "Here..Missy Kitty! Here, Missy Kitty!" and she came running...just like she used to do when we lived over on Catalina. Good kitty! She is lying behind me now in the daybed. She had been exploring.
My friend.Gay, will be coming this morning sometime. I really don't know when. I am staying home from exercise class because I don't want to be gone when she comes. She wants to shop for new summer shoes before we go to her class reunion planning meeting.
I got all my housework done this week except stripping my bed and doing that laundry. I will do that in the morning. Friday is free.
More later....
Gay and her sister, Adell, came a little after 10:30. I could have gone to exercise class but I didn't know when she was coming. We visited for an hour and then went to the dinner at Sirloin Stockade. After that we went to Brown Shoe Fit Company and they bought shoes.
After 2:00, I finally got them back home and they took off for Chanute, where they both live.
I lay down with Missy after that and watched TV and fell asleep. I don't how long I slept but when I woke up it was time for the newspaper...4:30. I read that and then Bob came at 5:15. He stayed until 7:00 and when he left, I watched PBS until 9:00. I couldn't stay awake any longer so Missy and I went to bed.

Tuesday and a Big Day
Today will be another big day. I slept pretty good last night but did not take an allergy pill so I awoke at 1:30 and just took my thyroid pill and then I went back to bed. I awoke again at 4:00 and never did get back to sleep so I finally just got up. I checked my e-mail and started this blog at that time. Missy is still in on the bed asleep.
After breakfast, about 8:20, I will pick up Bob and we will go to Independence to deliver the cakes to the First Christian Church. After that, I will take him out to his sister, Betty's, for him to have a visit and then go get my hair done.
Then we will stop at their US Cellular store and try to find a battery for his cell phone. They don't stock them here in Coffeyville at our US Cellular store. They say they are a danger to explode. I don't know how we are supposed to replace the battery if they don't stock them anymore. That's ridiculous! His phone is not holding a charge anymore.
After we check that out, we will go to Big Cheese for our lunch.
When I get home again I want to vacuum both the bedrooms. That will be my project for the day. I will also want to return that DVD to the V & S Variety store.
Wednesday, Gay will come and she and I will shop at our two shoe stores for her some summer shoes. Then I will join her for her class reunion planning meeting at Sirloin Stockade. If she leaves in time..before 2:00...I will go to Asbury Village for Bunco. If not, I will skip it this time.
Thursday, at 9:00, I have a dental appointment to get my teeth cleaned and examined. That evening Bob and I will watch another DVD. This one is "Florence Foster Jenkins" with Meryl Streep. I saw at Scott and Ginger's but Bob has not seen it.
Amazingly, Friday is open. So I will vacuum the dining room and the living room.
Saturday, Leslie and Karan and I will go to Joplin for the group 3 meeting. Leslie and I are on the program to offer prayers.
Sunday evening, I have the Living the Questions group here at my apartment at 7:00 PM. We will start "Jesus and the Kingdom of God" DVD and have discussion. I plan to serve pineapple upside down cake and ice cream.
It will be a busy week.
So more later...it's 5:00 AM now...
I went to pick up Bob at 8:20 and took him to Betty's home. Then I got my hair done and after that, we went to US cellular and they checked out Bob's phone. It had the Bluetooth on and was drawing power looking for a Bluetooth connection. The woman there thought that might be the problem buut she did say she would order Bob a battery if that didn't fix it. That's more then the Coffeyville US Cellular did. They just wanted to sell him a new phone.
Then we went out to Walmart and looked around and also went to Goody's where I bought a pair of Sketchers. They were on sale...$10.00 off the regular price.
Then we went to Big Cheese and had a great pizza and root beer. I took Bob home after that and then took the DVD back to V&S Variety. Then I went out to Woodshed and bought gas. It was $2.12 there. That's quite a bit cheaper then in Coffeyville where it's $2.15 and $2.17 and Independence where it is $2.19 and $2.29.
I then came back home and puttered. So more later....
Later Bob came over and helped me move the table back where it was supposed to be. I had moved it out to straighten the rug on the carpet. Then he came back later to watch the news and one old episode of "The Big Bang Theory" . When he left I took my bath and watched some TV with Missy until 9:00, when we went to bed.

Monday and Exercise Class
I slept very well again last night. I got up at almost 6:00. Then I fed myself and Missy. She wants to go outside now but it's still dark out there and we don't go out in the dark. There are lots of stray cats in our neighborhood. She's too old to have to go through another attack. I am anxious to get outside too. I want to see if the squirrels have been digging in my flowerbeds again. Those rascals! I spent a lot of money getting all my flowerbeds and pots planted.
I will pick up Bob at 8:40 for the exercise class. In the meanwhile, I will run over to Country Mart soon and get a can of Manwich. I am defrosting ground beef for our meal. I will add onion to the mix. I also will do shoestring potatoes in the deep fryer. Bob had brought cans of Cokes so we will have our unhealthy meal. I have pistachio pudding for dessert with whipped cream.
I will bake my cake for the Christian Church this morning before lunch. I may bake cookies later this afternoon too.
I washed my kitchen and bathroom floors again today. There is no keeping them clean. There is just too much traffic in those rooms. I have been leaving my shoes on the rug next to the carport door to help keep the apartment clean.
More later...
Tomorrow morning I will vacuum the two bedrooms. The second bedroom is my den with two of my three computers in it. The other one is in the dining room where I can use it in the mornings.
Wednesday morning before Gay gets here I will vacuum the other two rooms..the dining room and the living room. Then it will all be finished. I can dust as I go. We will shop for her some summer shoes at our two shoe stores and then go to Sirloin Stockade for lunch and her class meeting.
Thursday I have a 9:00 dental appointment for a cleaning and exam.
My daughter just sent me this new photo of my oldest great grandchild. She is 13 and will be 14 in September. Her name is Sage and she lives in Washington state.
Isn't she cute?
Bob and I watched "Hidden Figures" last night on the DVD I rented from the variety store. It was very good. Leslie and Karan and I had seen it at the theater in Bartlesville but Bob had not seen it.
After he left, I took my bath and lay down on the sofa with Missy to watch TV and fell sleep. I awoke at 11:00 and at shortly after 11:00, Missy and I went to bed.

Sunday and Lunch at Just Us
I slept very well last night! Today I will go to church and afterward eat out at "Just Us" in Cherryvale. Becky will be coming too so I need to remember to call Kay to increase our reservation to four.
Church and Church School went well. Everyone brought treats so Bob had a lot left over. He had taken his date nut bread. I brought much of his home and will give it to him this evening.
We had a nice crowd for Easter and Melissa did a really good job. We had a good meal at "Just Us" too!
This is Johnna, who presided.
And this is Melissa, who preached.
Leslie brought me some hen and chicks and I went to plant them I found that the squirrels had been doing some digging in my flowerbeds. Darn squirrels! I will get out my B B gun and make short work of those little devils!
I got my congregational newsletters done and when I got that done and put one out on the mailbox for the mailman to pick up tomorrow. The others went out in e-mail.
My son, Scott, called this morning and visited with me quite awhile. He and Ginger are going to take Linda (her mother) and me on a cruise to Alaska next spring. I have never gone on a cruise so that will be a treat!
I did register for the short Ozark Reunion #1 (family church camp) this morning. That is in June and begins on the 14th and ends on the 18th. Bob said he would come over and feed Missy and give her some company too. The June camp is only four days so that will not be a big imposition.
I am considering attending the longer seven day Ozark Reunion # 2 (family church camp) in July too. Scott said he would pay for it if I wanted to go. I sure may consider that!
More later....
Bob came over about 5:30 to watch 60 Minutes. We sat outside with Missy until 6:00 when 60 Minutes begins. After 60 Minutes was finished, we watched a CBS special on the Bee Gees, one of our favorite groups from our youth. It was well done.
When Bob left Missy and I took my bath and stayed up until 9:00 when we went to bed.
