Saturday and Breakfast

I didn't get good sleep last night. I had gone to bed at 9:00 and woke up at 1:00 AM. I just drifted on and off after that.  I finally got up at 5:00 AM.

Bob and I will go to Eggberts this morning for breakfast.  I will try to remember to buy a Journal. I don't know why because everything it it is in the Reporter or the Chronicle first. I do work the crossword puzzle.

Bob and I went to Haymaker's Furniture to look for him a smaller recliner for his new smaller apartment.  They were all too large so we went on to Independence to look at Messengers. They only had a small recliner made by Best. I don't know anything about Best since I have only had Laz Z Boy recliners. So we came back to Haymakers downtown store and looked there.  They did have a real good used one and he may buy it. His living room loveseat is wine and olive green plaid and that recliner was olive green. His carpet at the apartment is beige. That would work. He may take a pillow up there this morning and check the color out.

Bob is going to move in December.  He will pay for half a month the 18th of November so he can begin moving boxes over there. He is going to have Dustin move his furniture. He won't have much.  He wants to sell his computer desk and chair and the extra bedroom bed.  That will leave his recliner, rocker, desk, loveseat, end tables, TV and stand and coffee table from the living room. He will have his table, cart, and microwave from the dining area. Then he will have his bed, dresser, Mildred's high boy cedar chest and chest of drawers from his bedroom.  I will help him hang his curtains again. He just has two in the dining room and one in the bedroom. He will use his valences and give Karan and Bobby the curtains since he has mini blinds at both windows there.

He will continue to come over here for lunch. He will only be about 2 1/2 blocks away.

More later....it's time to go to breakfast.

I did some laundry and later read some in my latest book.  I received my first Time Magazine and read it then took it over to Bob to read.

Dustin came while I was there and booked Bob's move. It will be the on 22nd.

Bob will probably come over this evening for wine and then there is really nothing on TV. I will probably read.

Tomorrow is communion Sunday at church and Karan will preside.I am speaking again.

Exercise Friday Again

Today we will go to our exercise class again. Afterward I will come home and closer to noon, begin our lunch...Parmesan Chicken. Bob will bring a salad and we will have chopped broccoli with it . I already have pudding and cookies for dessert. We didn't eat the pudding yesterday because we were both full when we finished our lunch. I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon. Bob came over last evening and we had a cookie with our wine. I opened the Moscato  after he finished off the little bit of Roscato.

It got quite a bit cooler last night and I slept through the night without waking up at all. What a great night's sleep!

The leaves are falling now. I spent some time yesterday morning raking and bagging leaves from our front yard and by afternoon, the yard was covered again.  It's a lost cause now. I may mow and mulch them this week. Mowing is about finished now. I may have to pull up all my flowers if we got a freeze last night.  I'll check when it gets light outside.

I have small snicker bars for the trick or treaters tonight. I will put  my porch light on and hope some come. We are on a dead end street so we may not have any. I am hoping Leslie will bring the girls by.

I see we have a possible Ebola patient in the Tulsa hospital now.  She definitely has malaria. The test for Ebola should be back today or Monday. It is slowly spreading.

More later.....

I had no trick or treaters last night. I stayed up until 9:00 and watched Dateline then I turned off the porch light and went to bed.  Bob went home shortly after 7:00 after having the wine and a cookie.

I put the candy away.

Thursday Laundry Day

I have started my laundry this morning. I only have one load but I want to stay ahead of it.

I slept very well last night...only woke up once and went to the bathroom and then took my thyroid med.

I awoke at 5:00, my usual time, and then just got up. Missy was ready too. I fixed my cereal and made coffee in my new coffeemaker.

I read the newspaper and am now ready to clean the kitchen floor.  I want to make a coffeecake today and that will give me something neat to eat with my coffee. I also need to make cookies again. I am out.  We finished most of the ice cream we bought last week at Braums. They will be demolishing the Braums store next week and building a new one by March. I will really miss this one because I buy my milk from them and Bob gets most of his salad makings there too.

Next week the library is supposed to call my for a job interview . I hope to get the job so I can double my car payments and also repay the money I have borrowed from my savings for the coffeemaker and Christmas tree.  I still have 22 months left in the federal program that provides the pay for the work. It's minimum wage but anything will help.

Maybe while I am working I will be able to swing a new flat screen TV. Then I can go back to the starter package for my TV. All I ever watch is PBS and the network news. I have to have a box right now and pay for the Economy package to receive any TV at all. The TV went out on my old TV a couple of months ago. The DVR box from Cox is the only way I am receiving any TV at all.  That costs more then I want to pay for TV I don't even watch. The box by itself is $9.50 per month. Oh well...it's always something.

I haven't heard anything from the maintenance man about my dishwasher door spring.

More later....
 Temple and auditorium at night
This is the Temple in Independence, Missouri where the Peace Colloquy was held. The dome of the Auditorium is in the background and that's where our International Conferences are held. The Temple is dedicated to Peace.  We have a Peace Colloquy each year and award a $25,000 award  to a different recipient each year. This year it went to Bread  for the World for their efforts to eliminate poverty and hunger worldwide.

Wednesday Exercise Again

Today Bob and I will go to exercise class.  Afterward we will go to Bartlesville to eat lunch at Dink's Bar B Q.  Who knows when we will be able to go again.  I may be going to work again after the first of the month.  I will try to work afternoons if that happens.

After we eat, we will go walk the mall. I have spent my extra money on a Keurig 2.0 coffee maker and bought the coffees with the $25 gift card that came with it. The coffeemaker was on sale at Wal Mart for $117.00. I am calling it my early birthday gift to myself. After using Sherri's this weekend I decided to bite the bullet. I have really enjoyed the flavored coffees the past two mornings.

The maintenance man came last evening and found the broken spring from the dishwasher door. He is going to ask Martha if she wants him to order the part and repair it. If she refuses to have it repaired, I will call in someone who will fix it.  The door is heavy and may get sprung if it is not repaired. Maybe my friend, Bill, would fix it for me.  He used to be an appliance repair man before he went to college and got his degree. Or maybe even Bobby would fix it. I will have to bite the bullet and ask for help if Martha doesn't want him to fix it.

More later.....

After our meal at Dink's we went to Hobby Lobby where I bought a new small Christmas tree that was on sale. Mine went to pieces two Christmas's ago and I didn't have one last year at all. I was looking through some boxes I had stored in my large storage closet and found a box labeled "Christmas decorations". That's when I decided to buy a new Christmas tree. I have a corner in my living room near the "front" door where I can put the tree.   After we left Hobby Lobby, we went to the mall and walked around.  Then we came back home. Bob dropped me off and then he went home to take his nap.

Later in the evening he came over for wine and we watched the World Series game. He went home before it was finished and I took my bath and watched the heartbreaking game. The Royals lost 3 to 2.  I was hoping for their win.

Then I went to bed.

Tuesday Hair Day

Today is my day to have my hair colored and cut and so I went to Independence to take the cakes up and also  to get my hair taken care of. I stopped at Big Cheese afterward and bought two mini pizzas for our lunch. I took my insulated bag and when I got home with them, they were still plenty warm.

I learned from the church there that they are not serving dinner tonight because of their Neewollah celebration. So they will freeze our cakes for next week. I wish they had called us about it and we would not have gone to all that trouble to bake all those cakes.

Tomorrow Bob wants to go to Bartlesville to eat at Dink's Bar B Q. So we will have our leftover goulash on Thursday and I will fix the Parmesan Chicken for Friday.

Yesterday when I loaded the dishwasher, something snapped! l think it was the spring that holds the door up. The door now will not stay up unless it is latched. I called the apartment manager and she said she would send the maintenance man to fix it. He didn't come last night so maybe it will be tonight. He has a daytime job and does the maintenance work in the evening.

I need to vacuum the kitchen and dining room this afternoon.  I got my sweeper back from the shop yesterday afternoon.

This afternoon I will also read again. Tonight is Tuesday and there probably won't be anything on TV worth watching.

More later.....

I finally got my dining room and living room vacuumed this afternoon. The sweeper is working again.  I hope it continues to hold up. Sometime I will buy another Hoover at Wal Mart. I want one with the bag. Consumer Reports says they are best for picking up animal hair. And does Missy shed!

As it turned out I watched the Royals win the 6th game of the World Series 10 to nothing! I actually stayed  up to watch the entire game. I am a Royal's fan!

Monday and Exercises Again

I slept fairly well last night. It takes awhile for me to get back in the groove, I guess. Missy slept on the bed again. She wanted outside so badly last night she tried to drive me crazy meowing to go out. I finally convinced her that wasn't going to happen.

I had my biscuit and a cup of coffee this morning after I fed Missy her treats and put a little fresh   cat food in her dish.

I will attend exercise class this morning and afterward make some goulash for lunch. I will also cook some green beans and we will probably use Bob's cottage cheese with pineapple for our salad. I will also bake some garlic bread to go with it.

Right now I need to get the laundry in the dryer.....more later....

I did go to exercise class and  afterward came home to make goulash. It was good and we had green beans with it and jello salad with oranges in it. Afterward we ate our pudding with whipped cream.

After Bob went home I worked on Sunday's sermon some and also did the congregational newsletters.

My birthday is the 2nd of December and I have been wanting one of those Kuerig coffeemakers.and they are on sale ay Walmart so I went out there and bought my little bit of groceries and myself an early birthday gift of one of their 2.0 coffeemakers and some varied coffees and a rack to put them in.  I know...I know... it's a luxury but sometimes I just have to bite the bullet and do it.

I gave Bob what filters I had left and the rest of my hazelnut coffee.

Later Bob came over to watch the news and the Big Bang Theory reruns. After he left I took my bath and watched Antique Roadshow. Then I went to bed at 8:30. I was very tired for some reason.

Here are some photos from the Peace Colloquy I attended.

Sunday and Back Home Again

I am back home now and the Peace Colloquy was wonderful! There is so much we can all do to  eliminate poverty in the world. In 2014 we had reduced poverty by 1/2 in the world. By 2030 we hope to reduce poverty altogether. We have that capability now if we could eliminate war.  War uses the resources of the world that could be used to eliminate poverty and hunger.

A book I recommend everyone to read is "Toxic Charity". I read it before I went to the colloquy.  There are some types of charity that do more harm then good. This book has a lot of examples. For instance, some churches send groups of their congregation to some South American country to build a church and that becomes a problem for the village because they have to feed and house them while they build a church that is never used after the group leaves. That's just one example. We need to discover what they need before we send someone down there to build what they don't either what or need. It costs more money to send the team down there and that money could have been used more productively to dig a well or something they really need.

When I got home, Missy, my cat, wanted to go outside in the dark. I definitely will not let her out in the dark. There is a strange animal that lives out there, a Marmot, and he was out there in our yard all afternoon. When I went out he ran into the drain in the yard. He looks like a large groundhog. I forget what they're called, You usually see them in Colorado. She has been crying to go out there ever since I got home. I let her out with me when it was light out there this afternoon.

Now I am ready to go to bed so I will continue tomorrow.
