A Cold Thursday Again

It's cold again today. After my meeting yesterday afternoon, it rained with sleet mixed in. Where is spring?

I am hoping we close on the house today. Otherwise I will need to transfer some money from my money market account and it's nearly empty.

I hope today and Saturday are nice for our trip to Branson. We planned this trip and invited Phyllis over a month ago, when we thought these house closings would be over. One never knows. I've told my realtor several times that this is why we don't move until after the closing. Things can go wrong...very wrong. My closing was supposed to be in March on the 13th. Then it was supposed to be at the end of March and here we are in April and still the house has not closed. She is aiming for today. We will see.

I need to go to the bank and to Wal Mart this morning. I need ink cartridges for my printer so I can finish getting the letter with the registration blank out to my classmates. Our class reunion is May 24th and 25th and we need the registrations by May 10th. That should give the caterer and the country club time to figure how many to plan for.

After I get through this reunion, I will have to get back to work on the church camp. I have had two teachers back out (they have changed jobs) and have replaced one of them. But I still have to find a teacher for the juniors. I am still waiting for an answer from a couple of people I've tried to recruit.

They will want me to do this director thing again next year. I'm not sure I am up to that. Time will tell. I am still dealing with the erysipelas bacterial infection on my face. Each morning I look in the mirror hoping it has cleared up. I have had it since February 8th. That's nearly two months. I am hoping it does not spread into other organs. That could be fatal. It's not likely since I am taking antibiotics but one never knows anything for sure at my age.

I did get a good night's sleep last night. I went to bed at 9:30 and slept until 4:00 when my neighbor next door began tapping on something. That's one of the problems with living in a fourplex. You have no control over what your neighbors do at 4:00 in the morning.

A couple more problems....the closing fell through again. A relative of someone at the closing company died and that cancelled the closing...again. That's the third time.

Then Penney's delivered my blind for the living room to the house I moved out of. Penney's had changed the address to my new address but the post office screwed that up too and delivered it to my old address. Can anything else go wrong?

Another Rainy Wednesday

It rained again last night. It is supposed to stop on Friday just in time for our trip to Branson. I certainly hope it does. There's nothing like trying to stay dry while slopping around in the rain.

My closing is supposed to be either today or tomorrow. I hope it finally happens. I had just received the final electric bill from the Catalina house for February and March and yesterday I received the electric bill for March for this apartment. Needless to say, I can use the money from my equity. I am fast running out of money.

The class reunion planning meeting is this afternoon at 3:00. I will have to see if I can find my notes. The last meeting was held at my Catalina house. I have moved since then. Much of the information is on this computer so I can always print off another copy.

I will pack tomorrow evening for the Branson trip. We will leave at 6:00 Friday morning. I hope Bob remembers to call Phyllis about the time.

I will go to the exercise class this morning from 9:00 to 10:00. The rest of the day is up for grabs until 3:00.

More later...

I am fixing a tuna noodle casserole for lunch/dinner today. I need to go get the tuna though. I have the rest of the ingredients. We will also have green beans and a salad. I have pudding and cookies for dessert.

My realtor called with yet another complication for my closing on the house. I went up to her office to sign another paper. Hopefully some time tomorrow we will close on the house. This has been the most complicated house deal of the eleven homes we have bought and sold. There has just been one mess after another ever since the house sold. The closing has been moved three times.

My meeting went off smoothly. I started printing off the letters with the registration forms and ran out of ink. Tomorrow I will go out to Wal Mart and buy ink cartridges so I can finish...if not tomorrow.. then when I get back from Branson. I will have to address the envelopes too. I announced this would be the last reunion I would help with. It will be our sixtieth. We are getting too old to deal with that much work and planning.

Bob came over this evening and watched TV with me. He got bored with Nature and went home. He missed the really interesting program. It was Nova. It was about an ancient computer the Greeks had built to predict the eclipses and the movements of the planets and the moon. It was fascinating.

A Rainy Tuesday Again

I woke in the night at 2:30 to the sound of a horn honking. It only honked once but that was enough to wake me up. And I never got back to sleep even though I took a Benedril. I finally just got up at 4:40. I took a good nap yesterday afternoon in the recliner so maybe I had enough sleep.

We will go to Independence the long way this morning. Both Bob and I need a haircut and I also need color. I don't know why I am keeping my hair colored since my Bob died almost three years ago. I did it for him before then. I guess it's just easier then letting it grow out.

After our appointment, we will eat lunch at Big Cheese there in Independence. We both like their mini pizza.

I'm not sure what I will do this afternoon. Tomorrow is my class reunion planning meeting here at 3:00. We will set the price for the reunion so I can get the registration letter out. The reunion will be held May 24th and 25th over the Memorial Day weekend.

It rained again last night. I heard the rain while I was awake. We are getting quite a bit of rain now. We need it. The drought has been terrible.

I looked up the telephone number for our motel yesterday afternoon and Bob called and made reservations for Phyllis F., me and himself for Friday night. I hope the forecast stays sunny and nice. This rain is supposed to end on Thursday.

More later...

After we got back from Independence, I went to vote. It was still drizzling then. It is very messy now and I am in the mood to just rest.

Another Quiet Monday

The only thing I have on the calendar for today is the exercise class. Tomorrow I have a hair appointment in Independence. They closed the short way up there today for two months while they work on the road so I will have to take the long way around on highway 169 until June 1st. That's a bummer!

Wednesday I have that class reunion meeting at 3:00. We will decide on cost for the weekend. Then I can get the registration letter out. That will be a job.

Thursday I will have my hair done again before we leave for Branson on Friday. We will return on Saturday afternoon.

More later....

I attended the exercise class this morning after going by the bank to cash a couple of checks. A woman at Leslie's place of work bought my scrapbook supplies. It was a giveaway but I wasn't going to be using it anyhow. I have no more places to store scrapbooks.

Noontime, I fixed some chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy with veggies and Bob brought a salad. We also had pudding and cookies for dessert. I am full and probably won't eat again today unless it's just a sandwich.

I took a good nap this afternoon. I haven't been sleeping well at all. My right forearm hurts a great deal of the time. It's like someone punched me in the shoulder...except that no one did. My right forearm is the worst although the left one also hurts some of the time...another mystery. I often take an Aleve to be able to get back to sleep after it wakes me up...... And I still have the red face of the erysipelas.

Easter Sunday

It's Easter again. Our three pastors are in charge of the worship service today. They probably have something unique planned. Bob and I went out to John and Leslie's for a pre-Easter dinner last night. It was all very good! we left before the storm hit. At 4:00 this morning the storm returned. It thundered, lightening, and rained quite hard but seems to have passed on east now.

I don't know what the plan for dinner after lunch will be. The restaurants may be packed.

Tomorrow I will pay my rent for the apartment and I will wait awhile to pay my house payment. We may close this week on the house. Or it may be next week. Anyhow, I am not going to rush to pay it until my grace period is nearly over. I have high hopes they will close this week.

I have a class reunion meeting on Wednesday and hope to get a letter and registration form out before Leslie and i leave for conference on the following Friday.

Phyllis F and Bob and I leave for Branson this Friday. We will come back Saturday afternoon. We will go to Silver Dollar City on Friday afternoon, take in a music show that evening, go shopping Saturday morning and come home Saturday afternoon. I hope the weather will be nice.

More later...but in the meantime...everyone have a lovely Easter!

Four of us went to El Publito for lunch after church. Then this afternoon I did my letters and went down to the landlord's house and paid my rent. I came back home about 4:45 and watched TV for awhile. About 5:30, Bob came over to watch TV with me. He stayed until 7:45 or so. Then I took my bath and stayed up until 9:00 watching a program on CNN about Christianity after Jesus. It was pretty interesting.
