Saturday Again

It's Saturday again. We will go up to Eggberts in about 45 minutes to have breakfast out. We've done that for a couple of years now.

I called the 511 number this morning (road conditions in Kansas) and learned that the bridge is still out east of Chetopa. That would mean a twenty mile detour north and another twenty mile detour south. I imagine if we go anywhere it will be back to Owasso to Olive Garden.

Bob came over last night to watch Brooks and Shields on PBS with me. There was nothing else to watch so he went home shortly after that and I took my bath and put my pjs on to just try to stay up until 9:00 PM. I didn't sleep all that well but was able to get back to sleep until 4:45. I usually get up at 5:00.

More later....

We had our breakfast and decided not to go anywhere. We neither one wanted to spend any more  money. Again I don't get my deposit until the second Wednesday, which is the 12th. My rent is due the first and my Blue Cross Blue Shield comes out automatically about the 5th or 6th.  So I will have to transfer some funds from my meager savings anyhow.

I have been raking and bagging leaves. The ground to the east of my apartment is covered two feet deep with leaves. I've worked about an hour and have five or six big bags ready but I probably have about ten more to do. Merrill will not be able to mow when the time comes with all those leaves on the ground.  His dad used to mow them for us but Merrill didn't do that this year. His dad is 93 so he really should be doing all that anymore.

More later....after I rest, I may start again.  Maybe I will after lunch when it warms up some . It's kind of chilly out there now since it's only 9:45 AM.

I did go back out and rake some more and bag another eight bags for a total of 14. Then I ran out of bags. I later walked over to the Dollar General store and bought another box of 30.  Maybe I can get it finished  tomorrow afternoon while it's still nice. I believe another eight bags should get them all bagged.  What a mess!

Bob and I walked over to Brahms at 5:00 and bought an ice cream cone for our "dinner". That was sure good!.

Exercise Friday

I have been to Independence to get my hair done this morning. It's 20 degrees out there today but it's supposed to get up to 65 degrees. If we don't all get pneumonia it will be a miracle.  Then later after that around 9:00 we will go to exercise class at the senior center. I don't know whether we will go to Utopia afterward or not.

I plan to make a chicken pot pie for lunch/dinner. I looked up the recipe yesterday and copied it off for my recipe book.  I have already set the table. We will just have applesauce with it instead of salad.

I really need to get with it and clean the apartment. I slept well last night although I did have some weird dreams. I woke up at 5:15 and got right up to get ready for my trip to Independence.  First priority...Missy's treats. She insists. Then fill her food bowl next and check her water supply.  If I don't do that first, she follows me around meowing.  Spoiled rotten cat!

More later....

I got the apartment cleaned today after all.  I didn't get much else done though. The chicken pot pie turned out fine and lunch was good.

Bob and I may go to Joplin today. he would like to go out of town.  He is bored. A trip to Independence didn't take care of his need for a change of scenery.

We will see how he feels about that in the morning. .

Meeting Myra Thursday

Myra and I will meet in Bartlesville for lunch. I will go down early to walk around the mall.  Myra has a dental appointment this morning so she will not be as early as usual.  I will browse around in Christopher and Banks. I have ordered a top online with free shipping but it hasn't arrived yet.

Missy went out this morning. It's balmy out there but that isn't going to last. It's supposed to get colder again. It must have rained a little last night or else it's very balmy.

The Pinch meeting went well. There were two new chairs elected and I am out of that responsibility...thank goodness. I have put in a couple of years as co-chair.

I don't know what else is on the agenda this week.

Poor Missy. She is so stove up she can barely lie down. She eases herself down carefully and sometimes cries a little in the process.  I don't know if there is anything that would help her.  She's only 11 years old (next month) which is not terribly old for a cat.  I just wonder if that terrible experience she had with that cat fight last year did this to her.

More later...

Myra and I ate at Garfield's and had a good lunch.  We also had a good visit and caught up with all our news. Bob enjoyed his breakfast with his sisters too. He came over at 6:00 and we watched TV together until 7:30. Then he went home and I took my bath and put my pjs on to watch TV and for me to catch up on my blog.

Exercise Wednesday

I guess I'll go to exercises today. I didn't go Monday or Friday. But it's 34 degrees right now.  It's supposed to rain tonight and perhaps tomorrow when I go to meet Myra.  And the wind is supposed to be fierce. Darn! The wind has really messed with my sinus.

Bob will pick up his Coffeyville sister and they will go to Independence tomorrow to meet his Independence sister for breakfast. The three of them are the last siblings left of eleven.  He is the only man.

We will have hamburgers and french fries for lunch today. I will fix some pudding for dessert.  I have a can of Coke for our drink. That's unhealthy, I know but now and then I break loose.  I wish the US would stop using high fructose corn syrup for sweeteners. More and more products are labeled "no high fructose corn syrup". They don't use it in either Canada or Mexico.  Obviously the corn lobby is strong here in the US.  Capitalism...it's greed driven.

I managed to stay up until 9:00 PM last night. My cell phone rang twice after I went to bed with a text message ...with the same Amber Alert. Once is fine at bedtime...but twice with the same alert??  Someone dropped the ball.

More later....

They found the ten year old girl..... dead.  They found the man who took her and he has been changed with murder. It happened in Springfield, Missouri.  What a pity! The little girl was playing in her yard around 5:00 PM and this guy drove around the block a couple of times before he forced her into his truck.

We did go to exercise class. Afterward we stopped at Utopia to visit with Marilyn. Then we came home and I came in my house to fix our hamburgers and french fries. Then Bob went home to take a nap and I went to buy a newspaper. After I finished the crossword puzzle, I took the paper over and put it on Bob's mailbox.

Tonight at 5:30, I go to Pinch meeting.  It's a little past three now. It's supposed to rain and blow a lot of wind tonight and tomorrow.  I am to meet Myra if she can still come.

Cake Tuesday

I don't have to bake a cake today because we froze those from two weeks ago. I will just have to get them from Bob's freezer and load them into my trunk.  First though, I will have to get that large piece of plastic out of my trunk. I forgot to get it out when I got home from Missouri two weeks ago.

It's 38 degrees this morning...a little colder then I imagined. But it's supposed to get up to 70's today.  I have a very runny nose to deal with. I took an allergy pill yesterday evening and again this morning but the nose continues to drip. And now I have one of my rare headaches. I guess I'll take a couple of Aleve.

We will have our swiss steak today. I already have the table set.  I do need to get some fruit out of the freezer later this morning. I finally finished off those failed peanut butter crisscrosses. They tasted fine but looked anemic.  I will try to get some more cookies made later this week...maybe tomorrow.  Tomorrow evening I have the Pinch meeting at 5:30.

Thursday I am looking forward to my lunch with Myra. It's been months since we have caught up with our visiting.

I made the mistake of taking extra strength Tylenol about 9:00 and it does absolutely nothing for me.  It's 10:45 and I still have the headache.

 More later...

It took most of the afternoon for the headache to go away and I had to stay out of the wind for that to happen.

Bob came over this evening and we watched some TV (The Big Bang Theory reruns).  He left at 8:00 and I went in to take my bath and get ready for bed. I wont go to bed right now but I'll try to stay awake.

Exercise Monday

I slept pretty well last night. Of course I took two Aleve before I went to bed. I awoke at 1:15 or so and it took awhile for me to get back to sleep but I finally did and slept almost to 6:00. I feel better. My nose has been running but it's a clear drip. Spring in the air perhaps. It's 50 degrees at 7:30. It's supposed to be pretty warm today.

We will go to exercise class this morning and then I will come home and get ready to fix some swiss steak and potato cakes with a veggie and perhaps some leftover salad.  I will thaw out some more fruit for dessert.  I still have some of those "failed" peanut butter crisscrosses. I don't know what happened to them. I followed the recipe exactly although I did melt the oleo instead of just softening it.  That may have taken all the body out of them. They were flat as a pancake. They tasted alright but certainly were not the cookies I expected.

I need to do some cleaning this afternoon. I felt so wretched last week I didn't do any cleaning. I will clean the kitchen and bathroom floors and vacuum the carpet and dust today.  I probably ought to do some laundry too. I will be taking the cakes up to Independence tomorrow and getting my hair done while I'm there.  We froze this cakes the week before last when the snow cancelled the dinner.  So we will just take those up for Tuesday's dinner.

Wednesday evening I have the Pinch meeting.  It is election of officers. I will be stepping down from being the co-chair.

Thursday I am meeting Myra in Bartlesville for lunch and a visit. Bob will be on his own for lunch that day.

More later....

Everything changed today. My daughter called this morning and asked me to go to Owasso with her shopping.  I dropped everything and called Bob to tell him he was on his own for lunch.  She had the day off and I was happy to spend some time with her.  I bought two Euro pillows for my bed bolster covers (at $6.99 each) and a new purse. Bob said he made himself a hotdog with chili (very unhealthy) for his lunch.

Leslie and I met Cyndi and Jeff at Applebees for lunch. We had half a sandwich and a spinach salad.  It was very good.

Bob will come over this evening for TV and some wine. He bought a new bottle of the Roscotta we both like. .

Sunday Again

I didn't sleep too well last night. I awoke about 3:30 AM and just lay there for thirty minutes until I realized I wasn't going to get back to sleep so I just got up at 4:00 AM. .

I went to Cheyenne's birthday party at Big Cheese last night  and enjoyed visiting with the family. John and Leslie were there and of course, Jeromy and Marlene and both Maia and Cheyenne.  I ate pizza and wondered if that much food would influence my sleep. It may have. Cheyenne seemed to enjoy her gifts. She is two years old today and a very cheerful child. Her sister, Maia,  is more  reserved. Her mom says she is artistic too.

When I got home, I took my bath but stayed up until 9:30 PM in hopes of sleeping better that way.

Anyhow, today I will speak at church and we will see how it goes. I'm pretty progressive for the Bible Belt and I live right in the middle of the Bible Belt.

More later....

The sermon went alright. Eight of us ate together this noon and the meal was not all that good.  It was Sirloin Stockade and the chicken was overdone and the prime rib was very rare. Well we win some and lose some.

I came home and got the newsletters done for the congregation.  I also updated my e-mail program on the desktop computer. I am doing more on it now that I can't get the laptop to print wirelessly.

I also walked down to the Dollar General store and bought a get well card for my friend, Bill.  He had knee surgery last Tuesday.

Later on Bob will come over and have pizza and a glass of wine with me.   I may just give him the pizza since I didn't sleep well last night at all. I don't know that it was the pizza I ate but I don't know that it wasn't either.

I didn't get a nap this afternoon after all. I stayed too busy.
