Saturday and Another Good Sleep

I slept well last night. I woke up twice and went to the bathroom but got right back to sleep. I got up at 5:00AM as usual. I made my bed, dressed and had my oatmeal and coffee and refilled the cat's dish. Mama cat has already been here to eat and so has at least one of her gray kittens and the yellow  one. They must watch for my light.

I will vacuum the carpet here this morning before I go to get Nancy for lunch. The bathroom and kitchen floors were done yesterday morning.

I am watching CBS news right now. I will wait until 8:00AM to vacuum.

More later...

John, my son-in-law, spent the night  watching Octavia, their Blue Heeler  birth 5 Cowboy Corgi puppies! There are 5 days between the litters.

Aren't they darling?? Three girls and two boys!

I got the vacuuming finished today. The apartment is nice and clean!

This is Sarge with Ginger's older dog, Chloe. They are buddies!

 Image may contain: dog

Sarge came from Octavia's first litter and is a Cowboy Corgi. (Longer legs) A cross between a Blue Heeler (Octavia) and a Corgi (Hoover). He is five months old and so cute! Spoiled rotten, of course!

Here is picture of Sarge when he was just a puppy...along with his brothers and sisters going to get their second round of shots.

No photo description available.

I think this is Sarge in this group, Ginger's puppy.

Here is Sarge in a more recent photo.

He is still as cute as he can be!

This the father of Raven's seven puppies. He's pretty young but he looks a lot like Mini, who would be his mother-in-law. :)

Image may contain: dog, grass, outdoor and nature

Cute little fellow! He is a registered Corgi who belongs to the woman at Barta's Pet shop in Independence.

I called Nancy to see how she was doing and she had been in bed all day.  We were going to have lunch but she was sick again. She keeps talking about going to a doctor but never does it. I think she is afraid to find out what is causing her to be sick so much of the time. I just told her to take care of herself and then I fixed myself a chicken pot pie for lunch.

I watched the Ohio State/Cincinnati football game at 11:00AM. Ohio State won 42 to 0.

More later....

I went up to Joyce's store later this afternoon and had a sundae. It was really good.

It's after 7:20PM now and I am going to go take my bath and put my PJs on and after I watch some TV and read in my book, I will go to bed at 9:00PM.

Friday and Finally Apartment Cleaning

I slept like a log last night. I didn't have to take anything either. I got up about 5:00AM and made my bed, dressed and had my oatmeal and am working on my coffee and Chai now.

I fed the mama cat and she is lying on my doormat protecting any leftover cat food from her kittens. The little yellow one peeked around the corner, saw his mama there guarding the food and retreated.  Now a little gray kitten is attempting to eat but mama is still on guard. It is easing itself toward the food and no consequences yet. It is keeping one eye on mama while it tentatively eats some of the  cat food. So far, so good.

I didn't clean yesterday so today I will need to get it done. Then I can get back to my second book.

I am thinking about mowing the front yard again today. The grass grows so fast. I am waiting for the Weather on the 8s on the weather channel. I want to see today's forecast. The last time I looked...yesterday...the entire next week was going to be in the 90s. I may have to mow early while the grass is still wet from the dew.

I need to put some more cat food out. The dish is empty now.

Mama cat is back to eating again. She may have chased off her little gray kitten. :) The little yellow kitten is back and is able to eat now. Mama is back on the doormat but is not chasing the kitten off this time.

I just saw the Weather on the 8s and it will be 91 degrees today and until next Thursday when it will finally go "down" to 89 degrees.

More later....

Suzanne came about 8:30AM/9:00AM and found me sweeping and picking up leaves for the apartment next door. We began cleaning the apartment next door. We finished about 11:30AM and we went out to Sonic where she bought our lunch.

Then we went to the Dollar General store and she bought me some Glade room fresheners. She was going to buy a box of furnace/air conditioner filters for each apartment but they wanted an arm and a leg for them at Paul's. And Dollar General did not have the right sizes. She will get them at Walmart next time she is there. I still have two filters. That will hold me for two months. I can always buy some at the hardware store in Coffeyville. They have them.

We loaded up her car with the cleaning supplies and her vacuum cleaner and broom that she brought and then she left. We were both very tired. I will finish cleaning my apartment tomorrow. I got the bare floors done this morning before Suzanne came.

Suzanne and Steve are going to try to get a faux laminated floor (linoleum) down in my apartment before the first of the year. It would be the dining room, kitchen and bathroom. That would make it much easier to clean the dining room. As it is, I have to move all four chairs into the kitchen to vacuum in the dining room. And I never like to have carpet in a dining room. That is very good of them!

More later...

I went over to Nancy's after I finished reading the Reporter and I gave it to her. We are supposed to have lunch tomorrw at 11:45AM if Nancy is not sick then. I am to pick her up then.

I stayed the better part of an hour. Her daughter-in-law called her while I was there and they had a nice chat. When I got home I filled the cat's dish and at 7:00PM I took my bath and watched an episode of "Murder She Wrote" on Amazon Prime. I had recorded Dateline earlier so I watched it too. I read my latest book again until 9:15PM, when I went on to bed. I was very tired.

Thursday and Poor Sleep

I started waking up shortly after midnight and had trouble getting back to sleep. I finally took Melatonin about 3:00AM  and got some sleep. I still got up shortly before 5:00AM.

I was worried about Hoover, the kids male Corgi. He has hurt his left front foot and was limping yesterday afternoon. I am concerned about what he must have stepped on that hurt that foot. It might get infected. He's a good dog...makes great cute puppies.

Blue Heeler Octavia will have her puppies next week. He is the father of them. They will be Cowboy Corgis...little bit longer legs. Anyhow, I was worried about Hoover and couldn't get him off my mind.

Suzanne called last evening. Her sister, Judy, is still having some memory problems. Two weeks ago, she passed out at the wheel and wrecked her car..totaled it really. She will have it repaired because she loves that car. She was not hurt but had passed out and taken out a fence at a cemetery and was confused and had memory problems after the wreck and that continued even later...Suzanne is taking her back to the doctor until they figure this out. She will take her to the Mayo Clinic if they can't come up with a diagnosis locally at Bartlesville. So we will wait awhile to clean the apartment next door. The new people won't be moving in right away. He has paid the deposit but will pay the September rent on his next payday...probably the 15th.

So I will clean my apartment today. My right forearm and right hand are still pretty sore. Lately I have been having problems with my right hand too. Usually it is only when I drive and have it on the wheel.  But it has been sore at other times now too. Getting old is not for sissies.

The cat and a couple of her kittens have come to eat the cat food. Grouchy mama has decided to hog the food and is swatting at the kittens to keep them away.until she is finished. She used to sit back and let them eat first...but no more.  She is evidently welcoming them to the real world.

More later....

The latest posted photo of Scott and Ginger's new home. Coming right along!

Image may contain: sky, cloud, outdoor and nature

I didn't clean my apartment today. I read my book instead and finally finished it. Nancy came over for awhile in the afternoon. I gave her the newspapers....all but today's Reporter. I had not read it nor done the crossword puzzle yet.  I finally had my lunch about 2:30PM and some iced tea. About 4:00PM, I did the crossword puzzle and took the Reporter over to Nancy. I just didn't have any interest in cleaning my apartment today.  I will do it tomorrow.

I started my next Grisham book..."The Confession".  I didn't get far before I took my bath. I will try to make it until 9:00PM and then go to bed. After so little sleep last night. I should be able to sleep.

Wednesday and a Busy Day

This has been a huge day! It started with breakfast with Bob and after Itook him home, I stopped at the bank to withdraw my week's money. Then from there, I went out to Woodshed and bought gas. From there I went to the beauty shop and had my hair done. Then I went to the library to  take my book back.

I went to Walmart and bought the groceries that were not needing refrigeration.

Then I stopped at the coffee shop and bought some cookies for Bunco treats..

I went back to the library to check out two more books and to sit in the reading area and start one of the books.

When it was time for Bunco, I went to the senior center and played Bunco with six others.

From there I went to Independence to buy my makeup.

Then on my way back home, I called John, my son-in-law to ask if  I could come by and see the seven new puppies. He agreed and told me he was at the new kennel. I stopped there and saw those darling little Corgis. They were smaller then those Mini had had. But Raven is a little smaller Corgi then Mini so that may have made the difference.

The kennel is very nice. John did a good job on it. There are places and beds for both dog mommies and their puppies.   The kids and the moms will have their hands full for eight weeks. John says he has one of the Cowboy Corgi's promised already and they are not even born yet.

Octavia is due to have her puppies next week. She will have Cowboy Corgis since she is a registered  Blue Heeler. mated with Hoover, a registered Corgi. Her puppies wont be registered since they are  a mixed breed. But they should have longer legs.

Then I came on home and put away my groceries.and read my mail and watched the news.

More later...

I took my bath at 7:PM and went on to bed at 9:00PM I was very tired!

Tuesday and Assembling a Leaf Vacuum

I got up at 5:30AM and dressed and had my oatmeal and coffee and Chai this morning. I had just started this blog when Scott called and brought me up to date on their activities.  I brought him up to date on mine. His hours have been changed so he will be working 8:00AM until 5:00PM now. He actually prefers 6:00AM until 2:30PM. But his new woman boss decided he needed regular hours like the staff. He was not a happy soldier. He has to deal with heavy traffic to get there that much later. I suggested he go in when he wanted to at 6:00AM and have coffee at a coffee shop nearby and maybe avoid the bumper to bumper traffic that way. He may do that.

I have fed the cat and her kittens that show up here morning and night. They go through a bag of cat food a week but I can't let them starve and they are ferrel and so they would.

I have watched the progress of the latest hurricane and been thankful my younger son and his wife no longer live in Florida.

Keith called a couple of days ago and they are doing some work on their house again. They may finish fixing it up with laminated floors in their second bedroom and paint for both bedrooms and then later sell it for a larger home. At his age, I wouldn't recommend it but I kept my opinion to myself.  From my own experience, your 60's are no time to take on a mortgage, For one thing, the first half of a loan period almost all of the payment goes toward interest and very little toward the principle.

They are leaving in a week or so for their tour of Europe. I hope they have a great time! They certainly deserve it!

More later....

I got out about 8:00AM and mowed the west side yard. It was 73 degrees. Now the entire yard is finished. It was a little wet with dew but I only had the west area to mow so I went ahead with it.  It is done for another week. It is nice out there this time of morning. I did get three mosquito bites though. I will put some anti-itch cream on those.

Suzanne sleeps in until later in the morning so it will be awhile until she contacts me to tell me what day she wants me to help her clean the next door apartment.

More even later.

The trash collectors came this morning and I put away the trash containers in the garage of both 210 and my own.

Suzanne finally contacted me and said Thursday or Friday. I will clean my apartment on the alternate day...whichever one that is.

More even later...

I received my new leaf vacuum this morning in the mail. I spent the better part of an hour trying to follow the directions to put it together. I finally called Bob to see if  I could bring it over to him and maybe he could figure it out. He said he would come over and try. We could eat lunch at Eggberts here in Caney.  So while he was on his way, I finally figured it out myself  but it was too late to stop him. He came in and looked over the directions and agreed that I had it figured out correctly! Amazing! I am completely confused when something has to be assembled, especially when the directions are not too clear.

I went ahead and took him to lunch since he had driven all the way over here ....really for nothing after all. We had a nice visit anyhow. He had to get back to Coffeyville before Joanne called to ask him where he was. :) So he left a little after 1:20PM,  Joanne was working at her church to fix a lunch for Tuesday (today, I guess).

When I got back home to the apartment, I found another package. Evidently the bag for the leaf debris came with the vacuum. That was not noted in the write up for it so I ordered one. Now I have a spare.

I haven't tested out the vacuum yet. I am too tired to mess with it now. Just trying to put it together was exhausting and it is 2:50PM now and 90 degrees out there. Maybe I will try it later on this afternoon if the weather cools down. Right now I am just too tired.

I got my Reporter in the mail and my trash/water bill and will attempt the crossword puzzle in a little while. I scheduled the payment of that bill at the bank.

More later...

After I did the crossword puzzle, I took the newspaper over to Nancy's and gave it to her along with the coffeecake she likes so much.

While I was visiting with her, Carolyn came and was waiting for her to go to dinner with her. Nancy didn't know she would be coming at 4:00PM and was not ready so she ran to get her purse and Carolyn waited for her. I went out to Carolyn's car and told her that Nancy would be right down. She went up to get her purse.

Then I came on home.

More even later...

Later, I raked the few leaves I had into small piles and then got out my new leaf vacuum and my long extension cord and hooked it all up. I hadn't realized how heavy that leaf vacuum was until I started vacuuming up those leaves. It mulches the leaves as it vacuums them up too so I had the bag about 3/4 full when I finished.  I unzipped the bottom of the bag and dumped the contents into my bag buddy with the large black plastic bag in it. Then I went out back and got one of my lawn chairs and sat down to rewind the long cord. When I finished I was exhausted. I came in and drank a ton of water. Of course, this fall it will be cooler so that may help the situation.

Karan was going to buy one too when she gets back from Italy in a couple of weeks. But if I am 5 ft. 3 1/2 tall and fairly strong for my age and she is 4ft 11 inches tall, I am not sure she can handle one of those. They are bulky and pretty heavy.  I texted her and told her to wait until she got back home and I would bring mine over and she could see if she could handle one before she buys one.  She agreed.

I am doing my laundry this evening. It is mostly towels and underwear. It's only 7:25PM so I should have time to dry everything and put it away before I go to bed at 9:00PM.

A Good Night's Sleep

I slept through the night without waking up. That always gives me a nice rested feeling in the morning. I discovered this morning that four puppies had been born and there are still more to come. I haven't heard from the kids yet this morning about the final result. It's only 6:40AM so they may not be up yet. They probably had a wild evening waiting for those puppies to be born. These are or will be registered Corgis.  I think the owner of the father of these will get the pick of the litter for providing that service.

I have fed the cats and had my own breakfast. I have been watching the progress of the hurricane down in the Bahamas on the weather channel. It is slow moving so will do a lot of damage.

More later...

No photo description available.

John and Leslie's Corgi, Raven, had seven new Corgi puppies last night. I just got word from Leslie and this photo. There are four males and three females.

It is 10:50AM and I also just finished mowing the front yard.  I will mow the back and west side later. I can tell I am out of shape for mowing just now. I had that August hiatus and that let me get out of shape.

More even later....

I cleaned up the garage too this afternoon. It needed to be swept out and I also vacuumed out the inside of my car. I was going to wash it but the car washer was down again. They had they automatic wash barricaded.

My car really needs to be washed. Maybe I can do that on Wednesday when I go to Coffeyville for my hair appointment.

I mowed the back this evening after it cooled off a bit.

Image may contain: tree, plant, grass, house, outdoor and nature

I mowed the front this morning before it got too hot.

Image may contain: tree, grass, plant, outdoor and nature

I will mow the west side tomorrow before it gets too hot.  That's my plan anyhow. We'll see how it goes.

It's almost 7:00PM now and I am going to take a nice warm bath and get ready for bed. I don't actually go to bed until 9:00PM. But I have got a lot done today. I mowed the front yard and swept out my garage this afternoon and also vacuumed out my car.

Then this evening I mowed the back yard. I have also cleaned up my computer and the TV Tivo recordings. It has been a busy day.

A Busy Sunday

I slept well until around 4:00AM. I woke up needing to go to the bathroom and my shoulder hurt.  I got back to bed and the shoulder still hurt so I got back up and took two Aleve. By then I was too woke up so I just got up. I have a big day ahead.

I am speaking at church but first I will bake my coffeecake and go over my remarks again. I am not happy with them but the theme for today is too nondescript to improve on. What all can you say about "Called to Mindfulness"? There isn't a lot.

It's 4:45AM now and I will go make my bed and put my clothes on. So more later...

O.K. I am all ready now, and it's 6:35AM and I am drinking my Chai and just finished putting the coffeecake in the oven. It still has 33 minutes to bake so I thought I would get back to this.  After it's finished and cooled I will ice it. I baked my cake for the First Christian Church yesterday and will take it to church and put it in the freezer. Bob can pick it up there on Tuesday when he delivers them.

Leslie told us Raven is in labor and has been since 4:00AM and still doesn't have any puppies and her water hasn't broken yet. It is 2:45PM now and I am concerned. poor thing!

The talk at church went alright. Afterward Bob and I and Phyllis went to Just Us for lunch in Cherryvale and they were packed!  Bob drove and when he took us back to church to pick up our cars I drove on back home. I have been working on my newsletters ever since.

More later...

I have them out on the mailbox even though the mail won't run tomorrow. It is Labor Day! It will be Tuesday before they get picked up.. I hope to mow on Tuesday since I get my hair done on Wednesday.

Keith called this evening to tell me they are doing some painting at their house this weekend. And they want to get their guest room outfitted with laminated floors when they get back from their trip to Europe.

Suzanne and I went out to Sonic and got a cherry limeade and talked for an hour. I will help her clean the apartment next door this next week.  That's a logical time. I told Suzanne that Wednesday was the only day I would be unavailable next week to help her clean.  That's my "breakfast with Bob" morning, my hair day, the library day there in Coffeyville and Bunco at the senior center on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00PM. Then sometimes I  go buy what little groceries I need that are not perishable. And I will stop by Brahms Dairy Store and buy my milk. I will be out by then. I might buy a quart at Dollar General to get me over the holiday.

More later...

John and Leslie both texted me that Raven is having her puppies at last. At first, after several hours of labor, there were just two. But just now, at 8:20PM, she had another to make three.  I am quite sure she will have more later on tonight. John says the kennel is not quite finished yet so she will have hers there in the wading pool bed in their walk-in closet.

Image may contain: dog

It's 8:30PM now and I plan to go to bed  at 9:00PM. So, more later...

Before I went to bed at 9:00PM there were four puppies altogether.
