Saturday and Breakfast Out

I slept very well last night and got up shortly before 5:00. I dressed and got myself ready for the day. My bangs were curly so I took my curling iron and curled them the opposite way. That straightened them out some. Then I  caught up  yesterday's blog and will soon go feed Missy and lay out my meds.

I will pick up Bob for breakfast at Eggberts about 6:50. I do need to get some more money at the bank first. I don't have anything planned for the day. I am doing a little bit of laundry right now.

I noticed yesterday that the leaves from the ditch had blown up into our yard again. Kenny blew them into the ditch rather then to mulch them  so if it isn't too windy today, I will bag the ones up that have blown into my flower bed. We are to have a hard freeze tomorrow so I will have to do something to cover those little inpatients that made it through the winter under the leaves.  You can see they are the tiny green things in the front of the photo.

So...more later.

After Bob and I went to breakfast  I took him home. He picked up his two small loads of laundry and came back over to do them and also to check his bank account and mail.

After the laundry was finished, we went to Bartlesville to see the new farm store. We ate some popcorn there and then went to the mall to walk around. After that we went to get some berry tea at McCalisters. The manager was there working on the cash register. When he finished he asked us what we wanted and we told him. He gave us the tea and would not charge us. It was free gratis.

Then we came back to Coffeyville and after Bob picked up his car, he went on home. I lay on the sofa with Missy and watched TV for awhile. At 4:45, I got her the treats she loves about that time.

It's almost 5:00 now and I will go watch the news. It never did get very warm today.

More even later....

Bob came over at 5:10 to watch the news. He left at 6:00 and I took my bath and watched TV until 8:00 when I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.  Then I went to bed.

Friday and Lunch With Gay

It's Friday and I've almost decided not to go to exercise class.I really don't want to bake cookies this morning. I really just want to go to Cherryvale early and look around at the gift shop at the True Value store there. Maybe I will go to exercise class but not stay for the party for Barbara.

I slept well again last night. That's three nights in a row. Maybe venting with Keith helped. I had so  much on my mind that was disturbing my sleep.

Missy is patiently waiting for her breakfast so I will get back to this later.

I got myself and Missy fed and even got the cookies baked and the bathroom and kitchen floors washed. So I guess I will go to exercise class after all. And I will stay for the party. But I will leave at 10:30 to go meet Gay at Cherryvale.

I see in the news that J C Penney is closing 130 to 140 stores and just selling online. They will offer their employees an early retirement incentive. Wow! That's big news. I wonder what Trump will do to try to save those jobs? Retail can no longer compete with online sales. I imagine soon there will only be online sales everywhere.

More later...

I went on to exercise class and Barbara's going away party. Afterward I left for Cherryvale. Gay and I had a great visit and I bought her lunch. The last time we met, she bought my lunch. After that, we went to their True Value store and she looked for a systemic insecticide to treat her apple tree and grape vines. They didn't have exactly what she needed so when I got home I looked it up on Amazon and sent her the information. I later got an e-mail from her that she had ordered it.  I rested with Missy on the sofa until at 5:15, Bob came and we watched the news and Brooks and Shields on PBS.

I tried to stay awake after Bob left and watch some more TV but there was nothing much on so I took a shower and washed my hair and later at 8:00, Missy and I went on to bed.

Still Thursday

It's still Thursday and I am still dinging around. I did finally go to Country Mart and buy some groceries and Brahm's and buy some milk. . I needed meat and cake pans and coffee cake mixes, juice and frozen corn. So I just bought them at Country Mart. I never buy meat at Walmart. Besides, why drive 6 1/2 miles out there and 6 1/2 miles back for so little. Country Mart is three blocks away.

I got up at 5:00 this morning after a good night's sleep. I want to vacuum again after lunch. Maybe before lunch! When I cleaned out the flower bed yesterday morning I let a lot of leaf parts in onto the dining room carpet. Now I need to vacuum them up and while I am at it, I will vacuum the daybed cover AGAIN. When Missy lies on it, she gets cat hair all over it.

I have the chili all done. I did that yesterday. I just returned from taking all my plastic bags up to Genesis, our program to provide food for the poor. They use lots of plastic bags so I no long toss mine away. I save them for Genesis.

So...later. I'll go vacuum out the car. I just cleaned my floor mats last week and want to keep them clean.

I did vacuum out my car and also the dining room where leaves blew in yesterday as Missy and I came in and out.

Bob came for lunch but first he came early so I could clean his car carpets. I had cleaned my own last week and they came out very nice...almost like new. His came out fine but the driver's side did not come completely clean. It does look better. While I was at it, I cleaned my storm door. It was grimy looking around the edges.

Then I lay down for some rest with Missy. Later Bob came in with milk shakes from Brahms. They were two for the price of one. They were very good. That was my supper.

I got my new hair blow dryer/curling iron combination in the mail today. I will try it out Saturday night and see if it will work.  My hair always looks terrible for church. The iron is one inch around. That may be too large for my very short hair.  I hope it will work.

He stayed until 6:30. After he left I took my bath. Then I put the towels and washcloths I had cleaned his car with in the laundry with Missy's bathmat that she had got urine on when she almost missed the litter box. They came out pretty well.

He will come over tomorrow  and do a small load of laundry. Their laundry there at Sycamore Landing has only large washers and dryers. He hates to use $1.75 to do a small load so I have him bring those little ones over here and use mine. They can be set on small, medium and large loads and even extra large.

I will go to exercise class tomorrow morning for the first time in almost six weeks and stay for Barbara's party until I have to leave at 10:30 for Cherryvale to meet Gay for lunch. I will make cookies for that party tomorrow morning.

More later...

About 8:00, Missy and I went to bed. I was very tired.

Thursday and Back to the Blog

It was a very busy Wednesday so I never got around to doing this blog. As soon as it got warm enough I went out and began cleaning the leaves out of my flowerbed. I got three large black bags but the flowerbed looks so much better. Now I hope it doesn't freeze. It's only February.  That's still a possibility

Sue and John called us around lunchtime and invited us to eat with them at Long John Silvers. We met them there and John bought our lunch. That was so nice of them!

After lunch I had Bob drop me off at the senior center. I wanted to play games with the senior group. I asked Marilyn R. to bring me home. She lives across the way from me in the same fourplex.  Jeannie, who lives right behind me in the fourplex is moving to Tyro as soon as her son gets the little house next to him finished and ready for her.  Betty, my landlady, is going to rent the apartment to a couple who have a service dog. The woman has Alzheimers. The dog is for her. Initially the woman said they had a pet dog. Betty told them she does not allow pets. So they next time the woman spoke to her it became a "service dog".  So she agreed to rent to her.  If this becomes a problem, I will look for another place with a carport or garage. I simply cannot leave my little Honda out in the weather. I had terrible hail damage on that '93 Camry I had last.

Another problem....she wants to pour concrete over half of the grass in the middle of the fourplex. I do not want concrete between our apartments. It would radiate terrible heat into our apartments.  Our all electric apartments already have terrible electric bills. In January, mine was $255. It's just as bad in summer when we have to cool them.

I had to ask three times to have the leaves mulched. The leaves on on east side were eight inches deep.  She asked three different guys to mulch them and finally got the maintenance man, Kenny, from next door to do it. He did a fair job. But he blew the ones left into the ditch out front. The next time we get a strong north wind, they will be back in the yard. If that happens I will tell him about it and insist he mulch them too.

Incompetence! No one is competent anymore.

Bob came over at 5:15 and we watched the news. He left early and I took my bath and got ready for bed. Missy and I watched "Nature" on PBS. It's her favorite TV program. She is fascinated with the animals. After that was done, she and I went to bed.

Tuesday and Cake and Hairdo Day

I slept well again last night. I got up shortly before 5:00 and got myself ready for the day. I fed Missy and myself breakfast and loaded what cakes I had in my trunk. All I lack is Bob's. He will put his in there when I pick him up.

We will deliver the cakes at the First Christian Church there in Independence at 8:30 or so and then I will go to the shop and Kathy will wash and do my hair. It really looks bad today. The showers just kill my hairdo in about two days. I will be so glad when I can take a bath again. One more week should do it. Today is the 5th week since my surgery.  At 11:00 we will have lunch at Big Cheese.

I need to go to the bank ATM and get some money for the week before I pick up Bob. When I get back from Independence   I also want to deposit Leslie's check for the crocks. She paid me Sunday. Of course, yesterday was President's Day and the banks were closed.

So...more later....

I got Leslie's check deposited and  then Missy and I lay down on the sofa to rest.

Bob came over in the afternoon after I told him Keith had sent his notebook back to us.  Soon Denise came too. Before I notified them though I downloaded the Free Avast for protection and also Mozella Firefox. I will leave the mail configuration to Denise or Dee. Denise doesn't have a connection to the internet anymore so she goes to the Independence library.

I am going to take a bath this evening instead of a shower. The steam from the shower is ruining my hair plus I don't feel as clean .

Missy and I watched TV after Bob left and after 10:15, Missy and I went on to bed.

Monday and a Quiet Day

This might be a quiet day. I may need it. The week may be hectic. I do have to bake my cake today for the First Christian Church in Independence. After it cools I will ice it. That's it for the day.

I slept well last night. I woke up once and went to the bathroom and while there took my thyroid pill. Then I went back to bed and back to sleep.

Tomorrow I will get my hair done and first deliver the cakes. Bob and I eat will at Big Cheese in Independence. Wednesday afternoon will be game day at the senior center. Thursday is free but Friday I will meet Gay at Cherryvale for lunch.

Missy is patiently waiting for her breakfast and I need to get mine too. So...more later.

We've both had our breakfasts and I was just checking my facebook site and saw that my youngest son and his wife did make it to St. Augustine this weekend. Here is a photo he posted.

Doesn't that look neat?

More even later....

Lunch turned out well.  I also got my cake baked and iced. Missy and I have both had a nap this afternoon and also I have watched some TV.  It's almost 3:15 now and I guess I will finish my Utopiachino. Friday I had put it in the freezer.

More even later....

I lay down this afternoon and even took a small nap. Bob came over about 5:15 and watched the news with me. He left at 6:00 and I took my shower and Missy and I watched the National Geographic channel where they were showing a documentary about the 90's. I couldn't finish it though. I went to bed at 10:15.

I did text my younger son though. He had been very busy and I had not heard from him in awhile...maybe two weeks. He wonders when I will be coming back down there to see him. After checking my calendar, I asked him about Mother's Day for a couple of weeks. He and Ginger will check that out.

Sunday and Church

I slept until nearly 6:00  this morning.  I had stayed up later to watch an old movie. That helped me to sleep better.

I got up and got myself ready for the day and fed Missy and myself. I will go to church school and church this morning and afterward some of us will go over to "Just Us" for lunch.

I had an e-mail from my daughter this morning asking for my donation to the American Cancer Society. We do this each year in honor of my husband (and her father) who died in May of 2010 of advanced squamous cell carcinoma which had metastasized  all over his body before it was finally diagnosed. That is just one reason why I have my doubts about medicine and especially doctors.

More later...

I had a surprise again this morning. My cable bill went up from $83.02 to $89.42...again! It seems every year they raise the price but give just as poor service on TV. Last night, right in the middle of my movie, one of their commercials froze. I missed about ten minutes of the movie until they finally got it unfrozen. Cox Communication is just "asking" for me to switch to Dish or an antenna.  That's a raise of $6.40 a month AGAIN! Every year they raise the price but don't improve the offerings.

Six of us went over to Cherryvale to "Just Us" for lunch. As usual, I called ahead and had a table saved for the six of us. We got back to the church about 1:15 after lunch and dropped off Phyllis and Karan.

Now I will work on the newsletters for that part of the congregation that didn't show up. Later, about 6:40, I will pick up Gary for the Living the Questions group at Marilyn's house.  The only one I didn't hear from was Joyce. I imagine she could be deployed for FEMA now.

More later....

I spent the afternoon resting and I took Missy out for a little while while it was 70 degrees and sunny.

At 6:40, I picked up Gary for our meeting at Marilyn's and we had a nice visit with everyone. It finished later then usual but Gary really enjoyed it. He has very poor health...COPD ...and no car so he is stuck in his apartment  most of the time.

I got home about 9:30 and stayed up until almost 10:00. I took my shower and Missy and I went to bed. I was very tired.
