Saturday Morning and Breakfast Out

I will pick up Bob at 7:20 to go to Sirloin Stockade for breakfast. I've fed Missy and given her her treats too. I slept well last night again but still got up at 4:30.

It must have rained some last night. I took Marilyn R. the newspaper and the asphalt was wet. I hope it doesn't rain today because Caney has Mayfest going on over there. Caney is a small community 15 miles west of here. We lived there from 1969 until 1981 when I went to work at the radio station here. All my kids graduated from High School there.

There is a possibility I will go over to Mayfest sometime this morning. I usually do. I know a lot of people in Caney. It was also a part of my territory when I worked at the radio stations.

More later...

Here's another photo of Ginger's family on that terrace at the new house.

In about an hour, I will pick up Bob and we will go to Mayfest. We had a good breakfast at Sirloin Stockade this morning.

About 9:40, we drove over to Caney and looked around at Mayfest. It was kind of a disappointment.  It was much smaller then in years past. We walked around and looked at what little they had there and then went toward downtown to look at their car show. That was pretty good. We got back to my car and decided to drive over to Sedan to the Yellow Brick Road festival. That was an overstatement. There really wasn't much there. We did enjoy the drive though and it was a lovely day. I took Bob back to his apartment about 12:00 or so and went out to the Woodshed to get gas. Then I came home to read. The paper was in the mailbox but it didn't have much news either. By the time we get the Journal, all the news is old. It comes only twice a week. The Reporter comes five days a week.

Really, the weekly Chronicle is the best newspaper..with much news....most of which the owner shares daily on facebook.  So their news is fresh.

Bob is taking his family to Tavern on the Plaza for dinner. He invited me but I did not want to interfere with his family time. After they leave this evening, he will come over to read the newspaper and perhaps stay to watch on old movie.

More later...

It was too late for Bob to come here to watch the movie "The Bridge on the River Kwia". He watched it at home. I took my bath, washed my hair and watched it with Missy. Then I went to bed at 10:00.

Friday and Exercises Again

I slept well last night and am up and ready for whatever today brings. I will go to the hospital at 12:30 to bring a devotion to those who gather in the west second floor room.  I still haven't heard back from the minister in charge of this program. I e-mailed him day before yesterday and I have no idea what this hospital administrator expects of chaplains.  The last administrator made it all very clear. But this one is not Jerry!

Anyhow, we're having meatloaf today and boiled potatoes and a veggie. We will eat Bob's coleslaw since it's still holding up well in the frig. I need to get milk so I can make pudding for dessert. I didn't get back home yesterday evening in time to make cookies. Maybe I can get it done this afternoon after I get home from the hospital.

Missy is troubling me to go outside and I'm going to have to break down soon and take her out. I will have to get back to this later....

I went outside with Missy for awhile and then went to the bank and went to pick up Bob for exercise class. Afterward I came home and fixed lunch. He came for lunch and since his daughter and her husband had just had breakfast, they just stayed at his apartment and visited for twenty minutes while we ate lunch. Afterward Bobs daughter, Diana, from Wisconsin and her husband came here and they also had Bob's younger daughter, Denise, with them. They stayed and visited here with Bob while I went to the hospital and did my chaplain thing, and after visiting awhile with the patients there, I came back home to visit with my two nieces and Diana's husband.

They left for Tony to go to get a salad and Diana and Denise to also get something to eat and Bob went home. They will meet him there after they pick up their lunch.

In the meantime, I had to fight three squirrels away from my bird feeder. They emptied it yesterday and were in the process of emptying it today.   I moved it. I hope the birds can still find it.  I put it in front of the carport where there are no bricks they can climb to get to it. Hopefully the birds can still find it. We will see.

I have been catching up on the blog since they all left.  Missy is asleep in the recliner in the living room.

More even later...

This is the view from Scott and Ginger's new home.

And this is the finished product.

Bob came over to watch the Brooks and Shields commentary on PBS News and after that, he went home and I took my bath.

I will try to stay awake to watch the rest of the evening on PBS. I was up very early this morning so I'm not sure how long I can make it. My right foot is very swollen but it doesn't hurt.

Thursday and a Trip to Bartlesville

This afternoon about 12:00 I will go back to Independence and pick up Juanita to take her to her 1:45 doctor's appointment.

Back later...

Bob came in just as I was starting this blog. So now I'm back to it.

Missy and I went out on the patio for about thirty minutes after it got light. She loves that so much. I feel  sorry for the old cat. Over on Catalina, where I had my own home, she had the run of the neighborhood. She intimidated all the neighbor cats. That's when she was younger, of course. I would let her out and sometimes she would wander the neighborhood for hours. At 5:00, I would go out in front and yell, "Here Missy Kitty...here Missy Kitty!" and you would see this little dark spot a couple of blocks away just running as fast as her little legs would carry her home. Now all that has changed and she's mostly a house cat. She loves the outdoors so I try to get her out for awhile a couple times a day to give her a break. I am trying to train her to stay in my immediate area...either on the patio  (which she prefers) or on the carport area. But anyone who has tried to train a cat knows how difficult that is....nearly impossible...especially an old cat.

This morning..about 12:00, I will start for Independence to pick up Juanita. I should get there in 40 minutes. Her appointment isn't until  1:45 but she wants to be early. She wants to leave at 12:45.  She definitely doesn't want to be late. I will not fix lunch for Bob today. That cleanup time would make it too close to leave at 12:00.  So he volunteered to eat on his own. He had a big breakfast at Lion's Club meeting this morning. I did send the left over chili home with him. If he doesn't want to eat it he can freeze it and eat it one day while I am gone to World Conference.

I will miss the devotions at the hospital again today. They begin at 11:30 and I will be long gone.  I will make them tomorrow though. They are at 11:30 each day. That will make lunch later tomorrow. Perhaps sometime after 12:30.

More later...

I left at 12:10 for Independence and took the detour, which made my clean car filthy. After I got to Independence I had my car washed. It needed it.

My trip to Bartlesville showed just how fragile Juanita has become. She's nearly completely blind and very unsteady on her feet. And this woman is 94.. and will be 95 in October.

After we finished at the doctor's office she wanted to stop by Chili's and get some egg rolls with extra dressing. It took awhile but we finally got it.

I got her home at 4:45 and I got home about 5:20. Bob was at my apartment when I got home. He had come in and fed Missy her treats and turned on the TV to watch the news.  He also wanted to check his bank account.

After he's gone I will take a nice bath and relax and try to stay awake until 9:00.

A Wednesday Storm

I woke up this morning around 4:00 AM to the sound of thunder. Soon it began to rain hard. Missy was terrified. She crawled out of bed and lay on the floor near the dresser. The thunder and lightning really gets to her. I got up about 4:45 and dressed and got myself ready for the day. That seemed to calm her. I don't think I am going to exercise class today. No sense getting out in a driving rain.

I plan to fix chicken and noodles for lunch today. With a veggie and a salad, probably coleslaw, that will be enough. I will have fruit and cookies for dessert.

I probably won't go to game day this afternoon either. No point in leaving home where I have protection for my car. I hope it clears off for tomorrow when I will be taking Juanita to Bartlesville to her doctor's appointment.  She simply cannot get out in a driving rain when she is basically blind and 95 years old. She can probably get the appointment postponed.

More later....

Afterward I fixed our lunch and Marilyn L. came for lunch too. After that I went to the hospital and met with the staff and met the patients I was to bring a worship service. I was too late to do that so I just visited with them.  Then afterward I went to game day at the senior center.

Tomorrow I will not be able to do the worship service either. If the weather holds, I will be taking Juanita to Bartlesville to her cardiologist.  It will be Friday before I can actually do the service.

Keith, my eldest son, called this evening. We visited awhile then he got home and had to hang up.

More later...

Bob left about 7:00 and I took my bath and sat with Missy in the recliner but couldn't find anything on TV to watch so just played a few games of Free Cell and then went to bed.

Another Busy Tuesday

Today will be another very busy day. I will make my chili before I go to Independence to get my hair done.  I will need to go to the market to get the beans. I put those I had in the mailman's bag to collect food for the poor last week.

I will get my hair done there in Independence and then go over to Juanita's house to balance her checkbook. After that, I will come home and eat lunch. Bob is going to attend his friend's graveside services at 11:00 here but he should be here by noon.

This afternoon should be quieter. That will be a change.

I slept pretty well last night and only woke up one time. I got up shortly before 5:00.

Missy is quiet this morning. She ordinarily meows to go outside constantly but not this morning...for some reason. She is lying here nearby quietly.

I have had my breakfast and given Missy hers too.

More later....

I went up to Independence on Sunflower Road. I had my hair done and bought my makeup in preparation for the conference I will attend next month. Then I went over to Juanita's and  balanced her checkbook.

Then I came back home and checked on the chili. We ate about noon this time since Bob went to the graveside services.

This afternoon I took Missy out several times. I read awhile and finally about 5:00, Bob came back over to watch the news and Genealogy Roadshow.

After he left at 7:00, I took my bath and finished my magazine. At 9:00, I will go to bed.

Another Busy Rainy Monday

I slept well until well after 5:00 this morning. After I fed Missy and myself, I began my Monday housecleaning routine. I did the bathroom and the kitchen first and then since Missy was in on the daybed in the den, I vacuumed the dining room, the living room and my bedroom. Now all I have left to vacuum in the den. That daybed cover is covered with cat hair so that will be a project to get clean.

Today is Scott and Ginger's first anniversary. I hope they got my card. They seem to be very happy and they are supposed to close on their house a week from Friday. They want to move the next day on Saturday the 4th. That's the day Leslie and I leave for the World Conference of our church. Sometime in the next month or so, I will go with John and Leslie to Florida, to see the new home and have a good visit.

It's raining today and it's supposed to rain all week with the possible exception of Wednesday.

We had tuna cakes and fried potatoes with broccoli for lunch.  With that he brought coleslaw. Then we had some mixed fruit and cookies for dessert. It turned out fine.

Tonight Bob will go to the family meeting for his friend, Bill, that just died last week. Tomorrow, he will attend the graveside services at 11:00.  I will go on to Independence to get my hair done and then afterward, I will go to Juanita's to balance her checkbook.  Wednesday will be another exercise class and then game day in the afternoon at the senior center.  Thursday, I will take Juanita to her heart doctor in Bartlesville.

More later...

Bob did go to visit the family of his friend this evening and then came back to watch some TV. When he went home, I took my bath and tried to watch TV but there simply wasn't anything decent to watch. I finally just went to bed.

A Very Busy Sunday

Today was very busy. I awoke at 5:20 and got right up and dressed and got ready for the day. I presided at church and facilitated the adult church school class too. Missy and I went outside for awhile before Bob picked me up and I watered my flowers. I sure hope my little miniature rose busy makes it.

I ate steel cut oatmeal this morning with my cranberry juice and coffee. It was different but good.

Bob came about 9:00 to pick me up and we went out to church and did a little cleaning up before everyone came.  The Church School class went fine.  Church went fine too although only one of our three pastors were there. I took the guest minister and her husband out to dinner afterward and Bob and Phyllis F. went with us. I got my newsletters finished, went to the market, and bought stamps and got out to the skating rink to pay for the skating party. Luckily they were able to take the church's credit card. There were seven kids who skated.

Now I will see if Missy wants to go back out since the sun is shining.

About 6:40, I will go pick up Gary for the Living the Questions group meeting this evening at Marilyn L's house.

More later...

Bob took his own car to LTQ and it's probably a good thing he did. He left at 9:00  but the rest of us didn't leave until 9:40. We had a good visit.  I took Gary home and then came home and took my bath and got to bed about 10:30...late for me.
